Can’t think of more romantic and beautiful restaurant on the island. We came here for my bf’s Bday and we really had the best dinner in years! Wonderful space and delicious food followed by impeccable service. Also, I have to mention a breathtaking sunset

Came here for lunch as I wanted to see what Toppers was all about since its touted as one of the best restaurants on the island. It's a trek (~20 minutes?) from main part of the island if you're not taking a boat from the White Elephant. As expected, the prices are high. My sandwich was $35, didn't come with fries, and my glass of wine was $25. Sat out on the deck, which was still enclosed since its not quite summer yet. If you were expecting to have waterfront views, you won't get any from their deck or patio as the restaurant is tucked away on the side and the waterfront is reserved for hotel guests ability to sunbathe on a little crest that is elevated higher than the restaurant. Disappointing. Read about service complaints, but my server was on point. Extremely timely on everything, but the patio only had about 4 tables. The meal started with some "free" bread. One was a cheese bread and the other a sweeter bread with raisins. The provided butter was great on the raisin bread. Well churned and soft. I ended up trying the most interesting thing on the menu, the Halibut Katsu sandwich. It is supposedly new for 2024. It came with egg salad, slaw and a jalapeno-yuzu tartar sauce. TBH, it was rather flavorless. I liked the mouthful and texture of the halibut. Expert crisp. That was done well, but the combination either needed more yuzu sauce. Perhaps try recreating some sort of tonkatu sauce to go with it instead. I ended up dressing it up with some fry sauce. Disappointing for the price. It came with a little mini salad. The fries were expertly cooked, so no complaints with those and the server did a fine job suggesting the wine to go with the halibut. Overall, great service, but this was probably the least memorable and flavorless meal I had the whole trip. Unfortunate.

Idk where to start!Had an amazing experience for my birthday! Scallops with caviar and truffle risotto as an appetizer, followd by Halibut and Lamb. Everything was prepared perfectly. Food was 5 stars, service even better!!

Went here for dinner. We had a 615 pm reservation and seated precisely on time. The service was perfectly timed and allowed us the space to converse while still being very well attended to. We did the chef's menu, which was a fantastic experience. Their wine selection was on point. The dessert choices were also well paired with our dinner.

Incredible restaurant overlooking a beautiful area of ACK. Reservations are in high demand so make sure you set these up early. I highly recommend getting dinner right around sunset on the exterior deck!

Food was great and beautifully presented, large wine menu, good service, intimate atsmosphere.the chef gave us complimentary bites of different dishes and deserts as well

Toppers provide you with an entire experience. You can dine inside (fine dining), on the deck, on the sun chairs, or all the way down on the beach deck. Great place to grab a coctail and enjoy the sunset. The view is amazing. The food is good. They start you with delicious bread. Some dishes are better than another. Couple plates deserve to be recognized - the blue fish pate is delicious, chicken is season great, the Cheesecake baklava is to die for it. Drinks are ok. They did not wow me personally. Great wine collection. Service is great ! One tip: You can book a boat ride for free from White elephant to the Toppers, have lunch or dinner, and return back to town. The boat ride was amazing. We enjoy the great island views, and we learned interesting facts for the island. Also, the beach chairs are open to public after 5 pm.

Google
The portion size to price ratio was outrageous. I ordered a butternut squash dish as the first course for $35 and the entire dish could’ve fit onto a single spoonful. The main course was radicchio pasta for $65 and included THREE pieces of pasta. Three. I was finished with the dish in under 60 seconds. For taste, I would’ve rated the two dishes 2/5 stars. Fine, but nothing to remember. The service was great and the setting is lovely but the portion sizes are insulting. They left me hungry and feeling like I’d been taken advantage of. I would’ve ordered dessert but was worried that for the $25 price, a scoop of ice cream would’ve been the size of a quarter after seeing what they gave for the price of $35 and $65. I ate at Oran Mor earlier this week and highly recommend. Beautiful restaurant, great service, fantastic food with normal portion sizes, and fair prices.

Yelp
Always an amazing experience. There is a boat 'shuttle' that if you can make a reservation for, takes you from the White Elephant in town out to the Wauwinet. This is an absolutely amazing experience. Lunch and a boat ride across the sound? Absolutely yes. We had reservations for the boat ride, but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating so we let Toppers know we would just be driving out. The attentive hostesses and patient waiter were so fabulous during our lunch. Halfway through there was a bit of a sprinkle so the hostess immediately came over to offer us a seat inside. We declined since the rain didn't feel like it would last and the umbrellas were shielding us nicely. I wish I had gotten more pictures of the food, because while it is not cheap, it is absolutely worth it. The tarte flambé was the perfect combo of cheese and flavor. The lobster roll was stuffed full of lobster and enough for two meals. Very much of note: Toppers had a good selection of zero proof alcohols so they can make any of their cocktails non-alcoholic which was amazing. Definitely put this on your hot spot for your next Nantucket visit.

Yelp
We were staying at the Wauwinet and wanted dessert after dinner elsewhere. We came a little on the late side but were seated outside under a heat lamp. We ordered the billionaire's bar and the baklava cheesecake. I'm all for pastry chefs having creative license to make unique desserts, but the menu needs to accurate describe those unique desserts. The billionaire's bar was described as a shortbread layer with chocolate and caramel layers, but it was not that AT ALL. There was 0 chocolate, 0 shortbread, and the only caramel was on the ice cream. The dessert was bar-shaped, but it was coated in a clear shell and the bottom tasted almost like white chocolate, so not at all what we expected. The ice cream was rich and tasty but didn't really taste good with the "bar." The baklava cheesecake was very well executed and well made, but the flavors didn't really go together. The baklava is a little too crunchy and the orange-rose syrup was a little too sweet with the tangy cheesecake for my taste. I also found that it was expensive for just dessert, especially ones that were not great.

Yelp
Incredible dinner! Steak frites were lovely. Meat melted in your mouth. Salad, outstanding. Only problem was the restrooms needed service (which was taken care of immediately). Will return!

Lipi R.

Yelp
This place is so cute. It's located in this very cute inn/hotel. A very lively crowd a lot seemed to be happening. More than the food, this place has the most stunning views and incredible view of the sunset. If anything, come here for a drink, and watch the sunset. We did end up staying for dinner also. We got oysters and the special which was a lobster pasta. Both were very good and extremely fresh. I polished off the lobster pasta, it was rich but you could tell all the seafood was really local and super fresh. It's quite the experience, so if you're around this part of Nantucket, I would recommend going to least see the views.

mb m.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere although maybe a bit on the stuffy side. Service was slow- took quite a while to get our cocktails. Waiter just wasn't on his game, didn't bring additional bread when we requested it and seemed behind all night. Menu was limited- carrots as an app was not something I've seen offered before. About 7 small pieces of cooked carrots arranged on a plate with drops of some type of cream and watercress sprinkled on top. One scallop as an app. I do have to say that the filet was outstanding- perfectly cooked, delicious broccolini, however the potato (almost like a block of hash fries) was a bit greasy. Pricey of course. Maybe try for lunch first before committing to dinner. And get there while it's still light because the view from the lawn is amazing.

Rob S.

Yelp
We had excellent service and it was a busy night. I spoke with the wine steward and found an excellent 2010 white Bordeaux that was a great value. We had the lobster and crab cakes along with some oysters which were great. I had a lobster and crab pasta that was excellent. Unlike other reviewers, we really enjoyed the baklava cheesecake. Ours was balance and just enough baklava on top without being overly sweet. Had a Weller 12 as a nightcap. We thought the dinner was on par with many restaurants we go to in NYC with similar prices. Cell reception is not great so it took us a minute to find out Uber back into town. We will be back on our next trip.

Rick J.

Yelp
Amazing food. Perfect service. So quiet and relaxed. We love to eat here and the unwind out on the great lawn. Highly recommend

Yelp
We enjoyed a 4 day stay at The Wauwinet so we had several meals at Topper's which is located in the boutique hotel. The views, decor, ambiance, and service were all 5 stars! We had breakfast all 4 mornings, room service for dinner once, and dinner on the deck once. All of the breakfast options were very delicious! We enjoyed the Lobster Benedict that was on as a special, the 2 egg breakfast, breakfast sandwich, and cinnamon roll French toast. Their coffee is some of the best we have had while traveling! The deck dinner was also very good as we had the Tart Flambee, Yellowfin Tuna, Lobster Roll, and the grilled Halibut special. The gruyere tart was our favorite. The crust was flaky yet crisp with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and bacon. All were very tasty, with great technique and seasoning. The room service we ordered was the Lobster pasta, lobster crab cakes, and old bay fries. The crab cakes and fries were very good but the pasta was under seasoned and dry-needed more sauce. I was highly impressed with the quickness of our meals being prepared in the dining room and room service was very prompt. All of the staff were so lovely and you feel promptly taken care of without them being overly intrusive. There is plenty of parking. There is also a boat shuttle service. Reservations recommended. They are seasonal so check to verify their opening and closing dates. Even if you aren't a guest of the hotel you should definitely go for a meal and highly recommend you enjoy the ocean front lawn at sunset!

Nanci P.

Yelp
Highly recommended and worth the trip! The restaurant was fully booked for lunch and dinner so we opted for breakfast. The property is absolutely gorgeous. Perfectly manicured property in a seclude private part of the island with a boat that takes you into town. The food was top notch even though it was just breakfast. After your meal, take a walk to the dock/beach.

Erin J.

Yelp
Truly awful. After looking at glowing reviews I made the trip to the other side of the island for dinner. The property itself is rather subdued compared to the online market photos. It's just a collection of small buildings on the bay. No old world ambiance to speak of. An aging property resting on its laurels. The service was awful. Asked repeatedly for water, utensils and bread. Finally spoke to a manager who blamed the lack of attention on large parties. The appetizers we uneditable. The bread smelled too strongly of sour onions. After an hour and a half with no sign of our entrees coming out we left. I've never done that. But also have never been ignored by a restaurant.

Alexa L.

Yelp
A classic stop for us, there's a beautiful sunset view from the lawn and the food is delicious!

Mari K.

Yelp
I was torn on whether or not to come here, since it looked great but also overpriced and stuffy, as restaurants in fancy hotels in Nantucket can be :) But, I'm really glad we came. We were biking so we were a tad sweaty, but nobody seemed to mind, and the service was great. There's an outstanding wine list. It's all overpriced. But, you're paying for the experience. We sat outside at a table with an incredible view of the water. The breeze was delicious, and so was the food. I had oysters for brunch (when in Nantucket!), and then pate. Because, why not? :) My husband had the shrimps and grit brunch dish and loved it. It was one of the most expensive brunches I've had in a while, but I'd do it again.

Will S.

Yelp
Definitely overpriced because you're on Nantucket, but still good. We got a burrata salad. Not my thing but still tasty. We both got a lobster and they were great. Afterward we went to the lounge chairs to relax. It was my favorite part of my time on Nantucket

J. B.

Yelp
Only had drinks here, which were fine, but the best part is the ability to take said drinks out to the lawn, which overlooks the ocean. Obviously this is built into the price, but when in Rome....

Jim M.

Yelp
Yes, great quality food and ambiance, we have been to Toppers many times over the years (including a stay at Wauwinet for our honeymoon 10 years ago), but l agree with others who recently report negative experiences (so unlike our experience in past years). When I tried to politely bring a few issues with the service to David the manager's attention he was very gruff / abrupt with me. He tried to turn it all around saying it was our fault / not his fault. I merely said I was providing constructive criticism / feedback so he would be aware of the issues. But unfortunately we parted company with an "agree to disagree" outcome and we won't be returning any time soon. It's so sad, even out cab driver (with Val's Taxi) told us he has heard many complaints this year -- without me even raising the topic. He mentioned in passing.

Zoe C.

Yelp
An exquisite, mind blowing restaurant located at the Wauwinet hotel in Nantucket, the food at this restaurant is out of this world. Very expensive, and high-end, so if you are looking for homestyle cuisine, Topper's is not the place for you. Amazing service, good choice of vegetarian options, and delicately put together dishes with flavors that keep you engaged in the experience. One of the best restaurants I have been to- I have nothing bad to say about Topper's!

Lesley R.

Yelp
Best secret nook on Nantucket....amazing service when we had a table of nine last minute. Food was stellar. Burgers, chicken and drinks were fantastic!!!

Sal B.

Yelp
Amazing everything. We were a party of 4 adults, 4 kids + an infant. Not once did the staff (and even patrons) bat a judgmental eye. We were super frazzled with the kids but no one else was despite sitting in the more formal indoors dining (versus outside which we thought we were getting). The food is worth every penny- sometimes you walk out of a restaurant spending hundreds with mediocre food but Toppers is not one of them. I had the lamb, our friends had the seafood pasta (called something more elegant on the menu) as well as the bass. Everything was top notch delicious (again not exaggerating- I'm a true foodie after all). The sommelier and waitress were just bonuses to an otherwise children-infused stressful outing. Hoping to go back soon on a date night sans kids!

Saran R.

Yelp
Lobster roll was just okay. You can go to Cru for a much better lobster roll, but the ambiance is very nice at Topper's. The lobster pasta dish was very good and one of my favorite's on the island.

Janie G.

Yelp
Our dinner at Toppers was wonderful. The ambiance is amazing with the sunset in the distance and the food did not disappoint. They made wonderful cocktails and mocktails too! I would highly recommend this dining experience!

Yelp
Toppers is getting a little too "big for their britches." My husband and I have been going to Toppers each year since they opened. I've taken multiple friends and family there when they visit us on island. Tonight we arrived for a 6pm reservation that we made months ago. They had trouble initially finding the reservation and asked that we step to the side while they seated other parties. Fair enough. When we arrived there we two other couples seated outside, under the canopy. When we originally were seated we asked to move to an interior two topper table (as the sun was so strong I could barely see. I know, first world problems.) The young hostess demurred from placing us at an interior table (even though multiple tables were open) and offered a two seater next to the portable bar. WTH? We opted to sit in the sun spot seat, while watching the remainder of the interior tables remain empty throughout our entire two hour dinner. Upon arriving home we noticed we hadn't been charged for two cocktails. My husband called Toppers and asked them to add the two cocktails to our card. They then had the audacity to ask him if he wanted to "add a gratuity? The exterior tent NEVER filled to 50% full the entire two hours we were there. What is the rationale for 1) move to the side as we seat other patrons while we check your reservation (even though we have multiple open tables 2) why the insistence we sit in the 10,000 Suns seat? My husband began referring to us as Jack and Rose amongst the Astors. Lol Waitstaff was outstanding, cocktails and food was delicious, as usual. Reception and hostess staff needs to be trained in the finer points of making all their guests feel welcome.

Benjamin K.

Yelp
This review is for brunch only - note that we didn't take the boat from town and were promptly seated for our 12pm reservation. Setting is fantastic -- staff was super nice -- coffee refills were very frequent -- hike & beach in the area make it worth the visit. Food is good. Yes there is a premium for the setting but the granola, smoked bluefish paté and lobster roll was a light, yet nice, lunch. True, $33 for a kids steak & fries seems like a misprint on the menu :) Trick is to come for the ambiance, decor and atmosphere. And not tonlook at the bill afterwards !

Patricia C.

Yelp
Ventured here for lunch from Town & it was so worth it! Lovely, quaint property, fabulous staff & view, oh & the food! We planned to have a light lunch, dozen of some of the best oysters we've ever had (& we eat them a lot!), smoked bluefish pate (yum!) & yellowtail crude. Topped off with some delicious Albariño and we were fat and happy for hours! Declan was a great guy to chat with too. Overall just REALLY great! Cheers!

Don Y.

Yelp
We've been saying for years that we need to try Toppers, and we finally did tonight. Boy am I mad at myself... for not coming sooner. As a group going back 20 years we've gone to 85% of the restaurants on the island. Easily Toppers in the top 3 ever. Tonight we got the burger and fries cut up for six, lobster cakes, oysters and beet salad. They all were so delicious! Burger is a must try. Meals were out of this world. 3 Groupers, Black Pepper Cavateli with lobster, pork dish and lobster roll. All 6 of us ate everything on our plates. Perfect amount of food. We normally don't go to the same restaurant back to back years we just try something different, however I cannot envision not coming here every year going forward it was that good. Service was a 10

Paul L.

Yelp
Topper's was recommended by our hotel concierge and I saw it was a highly rated restaurant on Nantucket so we wanted to try it. I later found out the the White Elephant owns this hotel also, so perhaps that's why the restaurant was recommended to us. We went for dinner and the restaurant was very nice, we enjoyed the warm fire in the fireplace. The ambience is very nice and a great place for special occasions. We enjoyed going out and seeing the sun set before our dinner. For appetizers we had the oysters that are farm raised right in front of the hotel and they were excellent. My wife enjoyed the the squash soup and rated it very highly. We also enjoyed the bread, especially the rich brown bread and very creamy butter. For our entrees we had the burger and the salmon, the burger was very good and the salmon....well it was a little disappointing for this caliber restaurant. It was a bit "fishy" tasting and not up to a 5 star standard. Based off of this one experience, I would not recommend the salmon but it may have been a one off problem. Since it was our anniversary they brought us a nice plate with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate and 2 brownie bites which was a nice touch, but if I'm totally honest the brownie bites tasted like a factory made product. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. Overall, I probably would not go again, not because it wasn't good, it just didn't seem like a "wow" experience that I would have expected for the 5 star rating and the price.

Gabrielle M.

Yelp
5 stars for brunch, 3 for dinner, hence the 4-star review. I love coming by boat for brunch, since the Wauwinet is a bit off of the beaten path. Located in one of the island's top hotels, Topper's is upscale and delicious. You can eat brunch in a bathing suit and coverup, but dinner attire is more formal and most men are in sports jackets (they may even be required). The brunch drinks are all very good. I love the Bellini (light on the juice please), and their sangria-based take on frosé, which seems to be the trend of the summer, is refreshing and delicious. Oysters, cheese, and pâté starters are the way to go. For brunch, you can't go wrong with the Topper's Benedict or the fried chicken sandwich. The Old Bay-seasoned fries are SO good. I can't recall what I ordered for dinner last time, but it was quite good. Lobster is delicious. The lamb came out practically raw on one occasion, however, and we had to send it back. The dining room is nice for dinner, and the outside patio area is perfect for brunch/lunch, or dinner when it's warm enough. Service can be hit-or-miss, depending on where you're seated and how busy they are. Overall, I highly recommend as one of the best (if not the best) brunches on Nantucket.

CC C.

Yelp
Another restaurant week selection of the pricy level. Our server was so sweet and very enthusiastic about the food she served. She was also attentive and speedy, which I like. For restaurant week, Toppers offered a $25, three course prix menu. I neglected to take a photo of the menu itself so I can't pull out the descriptions readily. Started with a chilled pea soup that was okay. I added a side of braised greens to supplement and found that to be much more to my liking taste-wise. The entrée was a braised spare rib sandwich with a mountain of the best seasoned French fries I've had in a long time. Two thumbs up on that. Dessert was a bread pudding with caramel sauce that was hot and delicious. I was far to full to finish so I only managed half. I also imbibed with a drink called The Painkiller. No idea what was in it, but it tasted pretty delightful. I felt like it was a nice sized portion of food for the price. I'd come back and try a burger or a steak for a splurge meal. Definitely a pleasure.

Marisa C.

Yelp
The crab & lobster cakes were light and crispy and were complimented with fresh corn and jalapeño stuffed olive - must try! Extremely happy with the lobster cavatelli. It came with a ton of huge lobster chunks, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was light and bright. 4 stars because the burger was over cooked but thankfully the flavor made up for it. The presentation all around is stunning and coastal. We enjoyed a nice stroll on the pier after lunch.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
My favorite meal on the island! Hubby and I were guests of a dinner party here. We first enjoyed passed hors d'oeuvres on their outdoor deck overlooking the ocean. A caviar bar, glasses of Cristal, and raw oysters with whipped champagne on top made for a decadent hour. Once seated inside the beautiful restaurant we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal, especially the excellent wine it was paired with, Clos de l'Oratoire Grand Cru Classe 2010. Our party finished the meal drinking the most incredible dessert wine: chateau d'yquem - sauternes 2003. (Is this what ambrosia tastes like??) Wonderful meal and great place to celebrate a special occasion!

Marie A.

Yelp
This dinner was epic. The weather wasn't great but the complimentary boat trip to the restaurant is an amazing start to this experience. Upon arrival I really felt I was in parts unknown (of Nantucket) and loved every minute of it. My friend and I sat on the patio and our server Larry was fantastic from start to finish. We began with foie gras and a seafood risotto which was out of this world (as was the bread service which kicked off the night) the duck and lobster were spectacular and the dessert was the proverbial icing on the cake. This dinner was truly a treat!

Yelp
GENERAL MANAGER NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO RUN A HOTEL: we recently visited the Wauwinet, and are absolutely appalled by the lack of service and attention to detail. The entire staff we interfaced with was lovely, but they were completely overwhelmed and understaffed. 1) we called ahead to ask if we could grab a drink prior to dinner but tie to our dinner reservation because we heard about governor baker's law, and the person on the phone said it was ok. Not the case when we got here early. 2) we stood by one of the Chez lounge chairs waiting for the chairs to be cleaned and one server said it would take time because there was one server for the whole area, at sunset, and it never got serviced. 3) we arrived at the hostess table for our reservation and when brought to our table, it had not been cleaned (in covid times!!) and the hostess quickly sprayed it for us and wiped it down. We then waited about 15 minutes for our server to arrive with menus and place settings. Super sweet server but clearly running the show single handily. It's clear that the hotel and restaurant is lacking the management and leadership needed to effectively run a luxury property. Will not be back and will absolutely not recommend to anyone else. Please treat your staff better by providing training and enough support to handle a busy summer night.

Tom G.

Yelp
Preface: I love wine. Topper's at the Wauwinet is one of my favorite wine restaurants in America. Located about a 20 minute drive from downtown Nantucket, Topper's is a special occasion type place on the island. Good: the wine list is a tome. I drank a 2001 Gramona Cava overlooking the bay from oversized Adirondack chairs while the sun set. That sort of place. The wine list is deep and has some value, too. The head sommelier was beyond helpful in finding us some of these gems (2006 Cayuse Cailloux made me realize that being on their waitlist now for 8 years in a row is worth it). Average: service was a bit spottier than I'd expect from this sort of place (white table cloth, French/New American/fancy). It's a bit stuffy in overall atmosphere, actually. Most of the food is usually more in the average camp, which is a bit surprising. Bad: Some of the food has misfired on various visits. Poor execution on fish, some off flavor combinations, sometimes too-heavy handed with salt. When you're paying $$$$ for food, these things get magnified. Note: It's not in town, so you gotta fork over another $40-60+ on taxi/ubers to get there and back. Overall, it's a must-visit if you love wine and/or idyllic locations on the water (with wine).

Roger W.

Yelp
Easily a stunning location. The food is good - but I would avoid the tented patio as you succumb to a bad odor from the kitchen vents.

Robert W.

Yelp
I've lived (seasonally) on Nantucket for 22 years. If you eat at Topper's you need to have your head examined - assuming you've read my review. Over the years, I've eaten there a few times. Always to "give it ONE MORE chance!" I've given up. The setting is wonderful but it is so freaking overpriced and the portions are so small you will no longer have to wonder what it feels like to be robbed without a gun! Yes, the food (what little there is) is okay.....just okay, but the price is what kills the entire experience. Don't say you haven't been warned!

Kevin S.

Yelp
We always visits Toppers at the Wauwinet once when we visit Nantucket. Taking the launch across the bay to have a wonderful lunch is great, but the last couple of times we have been there we were too early or too late in season and we ended up taking the shuttle. To die for lobster rolls, great cocktails, and usually an amazing Wagyu burger. This time, though, unfortunately the burger was so overdone it would have to be considered to be "charred" and probably should have been sent back and not eaten. Nevertheless, this is a place to visit. One fo these days when we want to truly just kick back, we will have to stay at the Wauwinet.

Yelp
Had Halibut and a salad here at a wedding. The waiter asked for allergy preferences and then proceeded to ignore/forget some of the requests and also delivered the wrong plate to someone else with an allergy. The fish did not have a whole lot of flavor. The waiters got the mains orders wrong for just about everyone at the table the first time around. Can't say I was impressed by the restaurant.

Yelp
Great service. Strawberry lemonade was excellent. Salad was dressed very nicely. Doughnuts were tasty. Soft shell crab was okay. Excellent for eating outside on a nice day but the seats were quite close together and I kept getting bumped into by people walking behind me.

Yelp
We have dined at Toppers for many years, going back to the days when Chef Freeman was leading the kitchen. Last night's meal was subpar in comparison to any other experience at Toppers. Service was outstanding but unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations. The 2019 season is only days away from ending, maybe just a bad time of year. When you drop over 100 bucks a person, consistent food quality should be a reasonable expectation. Maybe next year???

Yelp
For an over-the-top experience at Toppers, arrive by their free boat service from Nantucket Town. As of Summer '10, the boat departs from the White Elephant at 5 p.m. and returns from Toppers at 8 p.m. The voyage is just short of an hour each way, so you'll have roughly two hours for dinner between (plenty of time). The 5 p.m. boat has bar service; the 8 p.m. does not, but you can BYOB from Toppers. Just to be clear - you are power boating inside the Nantucket Harbor, not out in the open ocean. The harbor is very calm, so there should be no problem taking the boat - even for those prone to sea-sickness. Eating outside at Toppers is grand, but you must request this seating at the time of your reservation, otherwise you'll be sat inside by default. The menu changes constantly, but if Topper's is offering the Ceviche of Live Diver Scallop with Local Honey and Yuzu Vinaigrette when you visit, it is not to be missed. This main course is served as a sweet ceviche, rather than a citrus ceviche. Different, delicious. If you miss the return boat, the Wauwinet has a shuttle bus to drive you back to Nantucket Town (and a shuttle to pick you up if you miss the 5 p.m. boat). But don't miss the boat! The sunsets from the lawn at the Wauwinet (or from the end of the pier - where there is a bench made for two) are amazing and romantic. Enjoy!

Yelp
Tepid. Both in the food and the service. Time for a serious recharge. We've been on the island for 10 days and dined several evenings. Of the finer dining this was the least impressive. The sommelier who took our bottle of wine with him after the first pour with our entree didn't come back until we finished our entree. The water glasses were not refilled. No bread was offered to us while other tables were served. Our servers were all focused on the table of 12 and not our deuce. Now for the food, the potatoe leek ravioli were good but just good. Was that lobster bisque they used for the accompanying sauce? The lobster crayfish cavatelli didn't even come close to the lobster dishes at the Galley or the Pearl and was more expensive than either. This was a pasta dish not a lobster dish. On the truly bright side was the soufflé. It was a delightful treat. And we sat inside in a lovely dining room. To add further to the arrogance we overheard the hostess telling a caller that they had no room and were "committed weeks in advance" while 3 tables in the dining room and a few others in the tent on this rainy evening sat empty for our whole meal. The time for resting on laurels of days past is most definitely over. Time for a bow to stern recharge. Just sayin.

Yelp
After 20 years of coming to Nantucket, we finally went out to see what the fuss was about. VERY impressed. Excellent meal ~ the cronuts & donut appetizer were top notch. Eggs Benedict very impressive. Great burrata. Reservations for the boat should be made way in advance. I was under the impression that the restaurant has a great view of the harbor ~ this isn't really true. You can only see a small slice of the harbor from the restaurant patio. But you can walk out to the lawn that over looks the water - awesome. $200 for 4 of us ~ on par for ACK

Yelp
We had a 730 reservation for an outside seat. We specifically requested outside in the reservation, due to covid. But, when we checked in with the hostess took us to an inside table. We told her that we requested an outside table, she said she had no note of it, and that the outside was completely booked up. As we were walking out, my wife stopped to check her email and verify that she had reserved an outside table. As she was doing so the hostess caught up to us and said she may be able to seat us near the patio entrance. It wasn't part of the regular restaurant, but with covid, we are flexible. 10 minutes after our original reservation, they sat us at the table. Unfortunately, the because it wasn't part of the regular covered restaurant area, it was very cold. I was going to ask the waiter if they could bring a heater over, but after waiting for nearly 30 minutes, we neither waiter nor heater had found their way to our table. We were really looking forward to dinner at toppers. But, after 30 minutes of waiting for a waiter, we finally just gave up and left. Incredibly disappointing service and experience.

Yelp
I really want to love this place but there's just too many flaws. We were here twice within a week. Once for breakfast, just my wife and I. And again for dinner with our four teenage children. This restaurant is located in the Wauwinet Hotel which is owned by the White Elephant Hotel group. It's located in a remote part of the island in a beautiful tranquil waterfront setting. The restaurant's menu is not as inspired as we would prefer, maybe because it tends to cater to an older crowd, 60+. The food is very good just not the type of menu where you wish you could order one of everything because they all sound so good. Service for both breakfast and dinner was friendly and polite but lacked professionalism. The staff is not experienced enough or properly trained for a restaurant with top-tier prices and an amazing setting. Too many missed details and mistakes to list here. For dinner we took the restaurant provided boat launch, which needs to be specifically reserved, from town that leaves at 5 PM for just under an hour harbor ride to the restaurant. The launch service both ways is included in your prix-fix menu that is required for those coming by water launch. You have two hours for dinner and the boat leaves for the return trip to town at 8 PM. There were a total of 17 guests on our launch to dinner, less on the return because some choose to not use the launch both ways. The prix-fix menu ensures they will get you out on time. Cocktails are offered on the boat ride to dinner that will be added to your restaurant dinner check. For the return trip you can purchase cocktails at the bar and bring them with you before you leave the restaurant. The selection of drinks on the launch is limited to beer, wine and champagne. They have a short list. They were out of several items and some they only had one or two glasses left. When the launch arrived in town with hotel guests disembarking no effort was made to restock the launch's bar service. Purchasing a bottle of champagne at the hotel bar for the return trip turned out to be a complicated process where they seemed to be doing us a favor by accommodating our request even though the launch captain explained at the onset of the trip that cocktails for the return trip should be purchased at the hotel bar. No one offers you the opportunity to purchase the drinks. When I went to the bar to order the bottle the bartender was very busy. No take-away unbreakable glasses were available. Drank our $100+ champagne from paper coffee cups that the bartender scrambled to find. The bottle had to be opened at the bar, sealed in a plastic bag and our restaurant dinner check which had already be paid had to be fetched, reprinted and attached to the bag. All per MA liquor law we were told which is fare enough but the process was awkward and time consuming and caused us to be late to the launch where everyone else was waiting. Food is good but uninspired and dated, service lacks professionalism and staff lacks training, the management of the launch service and restaurant in general requires immediate attention. Prix-fix menu is $96 per person plus many of the few menu items had supplement costs. The olive fed Wagyu beef was an additional $80 and it was indistinguishable from the non-Wagyu option. The truffle gnocchi was a $25 supplement and the lobster was a $12 supplement. There's only 5-6 appetizer choices and an equal number of entree choices. Dinner with one bottle of champagne for 6 was over $1k plus gratuity.

Yelp
This was a real disappointment and it's sad because it used to be an annual visit. Aside from the wonderful outdoor seating, the menu is unimaginative and limited. The food is okay. The drink and dessert are mediocre.time for a new chef

Yelp
Service is excellent, view is excellent, but food flavor is just mediocre. The area is fantastic though.

Yelp
I had dinner last week during resturant week. The food was awesome, I had the pasta dish,,,it was some kind on veggie pasta was a pesto sauce. I was able to take some home and it was just as good the next day. What was the best part of the place was the location and service. It is a testimony for great leadership. World class food and service done on a seasonal basis with many foreign works, I was beyond impressed! BTW I had a lemon tart for dessert...that alone was worth it!

Yelp
What is there to say? We will first start with the best way to get there...The Wauwinet Lady - leave from town and cruise by boat to The Wauwinet dock, an enchanting way to see the harbor and take in the island. Now the restaurant. When it comes to putting it all together from the food to the wine to the service to the location you won't find a better place on island. You have to get the Truffled Rigatoni and Cheeses you are never going to want Mac & Cheese any other way!

Yelp
View and setting are not to be missed. But waaaaaaaay over priced. And they annoyingly try to up sell supplements on top of insane prices. Worst of all the food was just so so.
