This was the most disgusting taco I’ve ever had! The beef was drenched in reused oil, literally dripping. The beef itself tasted like it was digested before. I could not finish it. Don’t get fooled by all those fake 5 star reviews. The menu itself had a lot of red flag ingredients that do not belong in a taco yet I still gave it chance with the only menu item I thought looked decent. I wish I hadn’t. I didn’t expect any authenticity of Mexican cuisine but this is outright insulting.

Google
Torchys didn't disappoint! Brushfire all gone Crossroads I ate later. The chips and queso had right amount of flavor and the Marrgarita was refreshingly delicious! Great friendly and professional staff. Wait was not long. Friendly patrons. My order was to go I would not have had a problem eating in

Google
You're doing yourself a serious disservice if you don't stop and try the tacos from here. My first time in, I ordered way too much food. Large queso dip, Baja shrimp, crossroads, and beef fajita. They're so good they raise the bar at what a taco should be. I've had tacos with the same ingredients before but I've never had tacos that celebrated every ingredient so well. The Baja shrimp was my favorite, the quality of the shrimp was excellent. But both the steak fajita and crossroads tacos were delicious in their own ways. Don't forget the queso and chips.

Torchy's Tacos offers a delightful variety of tacos, with the Baja shrimp and green chile pork standing out as personal favorites. The green chili queso and chip dip add a flavorful touch, complementing the diverse taco selection. The self-service dining is both clean and convenient, and the reasonable prices make the overall experience highly satisfying.

Google
Torchy's Tacos has a diverse selection of tacos with cute names to boot. They are reasonable prices. I think they are good but not as good as everyone says they are. If you try the Congress location you will find yourself waiting in a long line for these tacos. These are not worth the bustle of a packed restaurant. If you can find yourself at this location and have a short wait then you won't be disappointed. Try the Fried Chicken and the breakfast tacos.

Google
Consistent tacos My favorite and goto one is chicken fajitas it’s less trashy than the rest Try a trailer park trashy style or the fried avocado ... be sure to get chips and salsa (or Queso). The avocado salsa is like a creamy guacamole. And delicious

Google
My goto spot for breakfast tacos. All day every day. Can't beat that. When two other places where closed at 3pm, Torchy's stood tall and was open for business. Pink Christmas tree was a nice touch. And damn good tacos to go is a bonus. How can you beat a classic bacon, egg, and cheese for $3.75. Stop by for the best bargin in town.

I'm not sure how this chain does it, but as a HUGE Torchy's fan who has visited multiple locations, I've found that every spot is incredibly consistent with their flavors and quality. No matter which location I go to, the food is always the same flavors and level of quality. My go-to items are the Trailer Park Tacos and Baja Shrimp Tacos. Their kids' menu items and queso are also delicious. My husband loves the Migas Tacos and the Grilled Shrimp Taco. This location had great service and a decent ambiance.

Yelp
I order this place maybe 3 times a week while I'm in the last phase of pregnancy, it's all I want to eat. It's amazing quality & taste I used to work for torchys for 4 years when I was younger & will always love it. Hoping this raises awareness with whatever staff is on the clock today bc I don't believe this is a reflection of torchys at all. Accidents do happen I understand. It's been great but all it takes is one hair in the queso to get me to write this. I'm really writing it so the manager can go tell the runners/expo to put their hair up or see who made the queso or poured it for a door dash order on march 6, 12:30pm. I pulled it from the chip I dipped and placed it on the bag. Hair has its bulb. Which is a sign it was plucked from the follicle. I hope that's not the case! I am a long haired blonde so it's not mine...

Yelp
Torchys holds a special place in my heart. Easily the best queso I have ever had and if you haven't been here you must try it. Tacos are a bit pricey but they are large and will fill you up. Certainly more of an American fusion taco style place so not your street taco style restaurant. That said, some really delicious tacos like the brushfire, crossroads and baja shrimp. Salsas are really good here and complement each taco very well. Service is typically fast and sitting inside is nice as it has ambient lighting and nice wood tables. Very clean and modern look. Love Torchys!

Geoffrey P.

Yelp
Put in a large order for pick-up on the app for a business meeting. $160 worth of breakfast tacos. It was ready right on time! Despite the "picky eater" variations on the order it was perfect - with each taco labeled! Torchy's was the only thing no one bitched about at the meeting - that alone is worth 5 stars.

Mahi G.

Yelp
I got the fried avocado and spicy queso. Both were tasty, torchy's is my favorite Texas taco chain! Our food came out so quickly after ordering, which was nice. We sat outside on the patio and it's definitely a casual dining location, but love to pop in for a bite when I visit!

Travette K.

Yelp
Bad service and cold freaking food. When I arrived, I explained I had a online order and gave my name and was told to wait. 7 minutes later, with no customers in the place ordering it waiting to order, I asked how much longer since it should have been ready. The same person asked for my name again then pointed to a shelf. After getting home I notice the bag is cold, given I was there a little after my pick up time I wasn't going to fault them. However, my 2 tacos bacon egg potato and cheese tacos were not made fresh. Had to be cold from the start if the cheese did not melt. Although I should be getting a refund this shouldn't have happened. I don't plan to return to this location again

Amber A.

Yelp
Torchy's has gone downhill. Friendly service, but taco size is small and sad now, not good value at $5 a taco. Used to be tacos were stuffed with toppings, now my tacos were just small pieces of meat and barely any toppings. Street corn still tasty, habanero salsa still fire, but can't justify $20 for this small amount of food. Bummed, go up the street next time to el rancho where you can have a full dinner for a few bucks more. Next time I'll take my own advice.

Juanita W.

Yelp
3 times in a row. Taco is not trashy. No cheese at all. This place is trash. I'm contacting corporate and will do a credit card chargeback

Laura P.

Yelp
Casual vibe and great food. Arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday and it was pretty empty inside. Ordered at the counter and the food came out quick. The brisket taco was amazing (flavorful and tender) and the fried avocado taco was good and similar to the ones I've had in California. The chips at the beginning and churros at the end really stole the show and completed the meal. Highly recommended and will definitely be coming here again!

Charles J.

Yelp
I come here for the queso. easily the best queso ive ever had in my life. I get the spicy hillbilly queso, which adds chili peppers and ground beef. it's truly incredible. I also recommend their airstream salad, which is super healthy (but not as tasty as the queso) to balance out the calorie bomb effect of the queso.

Kathryn B.

Yelp
Placed a large order for 26 tacos plus a nice tip 1 day ahead of time for take out. When I showed up at the time , they had not even started the tacos !! NO ONE seemed apologetic at all .. like it was as not big deal ... $150 order and no cared ..::. Will not use this location again

Lauren G.

Yelp
Quiet location, got food super fast. Staff was great! We sat on the patio outside and ordered 3 trailer park trashys, chicken fajita, beef fajita, street corn, and chips & Guac. Also got a margarita. Guac was great! Super fresh! Tacos were huge - definitely get your money's worth. I would pass on the street corn next time. For the whole spread it was only about $42. Pros: food, quantity, service, speed Cons: none

Christopher T.

Yelp
Torchy's is currently #3 on my list of one hundred and forty taco locations. [AustinTacoMojo.com] Some disagree but I stand firm with a #3 ranking for Torchy's. The tacos are huge, the eggs are fluffy and the cheese, gooey. The Migas Taco is my favorite followed very closely by the Fried Avocado Taco. Try the Jack of Clubs from the Secret Menu and every time you go, be sure to remind them that you want to get the Dirty Sanchez to make a return appearance on the menu! The staff is quirky and sweet. The taco experiences are consistently exceptional and their Pablano Ranch Salsa is completely addictive.

Brian T.

Yelp
Usually, I really enjoy Torchy's- but this one was not great! The Democrat Taco was exceptionally greasy and overall not very good. The Trailer Park Taco was good and as it advertised, but not special at all (reminded me of a Breakfast Crunch wrap at McDonald's. Other than that, the street corn, and beef burrito were quite good.

Kamrin D.

Yelp
You know the food is good when your still thinking about it several days later. I was visiting from another state and someone recommended Torchys. I was a little skeptical because I thought it was just another Mexican fast food chain, but Torchy's is most definitely not that. They have a big selection of tacos including fish and vegetarian. The tacos were huge and I couldn't even finish my second one. I had a salmon taco and a deep fried avocado taco and both were amazing! I would also recommend the chips and queso- delicious! Everything was so good and I'm definitely going back for another visit before I leave.

Kaitie M.

Yelp
I used to love going to torchys every Sunday, but the last few times I went the quality did not satisfy me like it used to. The tacos don't taste the same anymore. The tortillas are stale and a different brand I will not be coming back, so sad.

Marlene A.

Yelp
We stopped by before heading into ACL, it was nice I originally thought it was a Texas only thing since some locals we spoke to kept raving about it. The horchata was really good and the food was good as well. The tortilla was a bit dry I had the Baja shrimp, I wish they had a bit more sauce since it gets lost in the tortilla. The carnitas were also dry I definitely recommend the carne asada it was flavorful and had a good tortilla to meat ratio.

Chris S.

Yelp
I really love the food in TX and this was my first trip to the state where I had the time and resources to tuck in and do some real sampling of the local cuisine. This place came highly recommended so I made plans and stopped by. I like TexMex just fine. Fajitas are one of my favorites but this was a new spin on it for me. The flavors were OK but I got a crispy chicken taco that had a big chunk of chicken fat in it and that grosses me out. I don't mind a bit of marbling with my beef and even a little with pork but I don't need any marbling in my chicken whatsoever. I guess the magic question is, would I have liked it more had it not been for the big glob of fat? Maybe. I ate there with a bunch of family who love it and I was enjoying the company and didn't want to take the time to march my food back up to the counter for a re-do. Maybe I'll return someday when I'm there with my wife. This is definitely her kind of food and while I greatly enjoy her company, she knows I'll take the time to demand a remake if I think something was made wrong. My sister did such a good job of keeping me fed while I was there that I wasn't hungry enough to care as much as usual

Lauren H.

Yelp
Torchy's is a solid choice for a fast food taco. This is not Mexican, it is very much TexMex, and fast TexMex at that. But if you understand the difference, then you'll know what to expect. If you are looking for the best tacos in town, this is not the spot. If you are looking for a quick, casual spot to get TexMex tacos, this is a great option. Torchy's is on my way home from work so sometimes if I don't want to cook, I'll stop here. It's pretty cheap and usually quick. This time I got 2 trailer park tacos with no green chilis and no pico de gallo. It's a chicken strip taco with lettuce and cheese and comes with poblano sauce on the side.

Kseniya K.

Yelp
I was hesitant to trust a chain with a good taco, but I was not disappointed. Contactless menu through QR code. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Clean, welcoming indoors environment: a rarity for a chain restaurant. For $5 and 355 calories, the crossroads taco is your best option on the menu. The brisket was delicious and surprisingly not too oily. That jalapeño really gives it a hot kick that helps your blood circulation.

Shan W.

Yelp
Love Torchy's for an easy breakfast or lunch. Service is always quick and this location is very convenient to pop in and out of. But let's get to the food! The tacos are always fresh, visually appealing, have great flavor profiles, and most importantly, BIG. 2 is enough to keep me stuffed well into the late afternoon. There is a wide selection of tacos to choose from and I'm looking forward to trying more. On this particular visit, I tried the Cougar (this month's special with brisket, corn, bbq sauce) and my fave, the Migas. My mouth is watering as I write this review, which says it all.

Lauren R.

Yelp
Always have a good experience at this location. Friendly staff, relatively quick time to get food during lunch rush. There's outdoor seating and nice indoor seating and decor as well. The trailer trash taco is always great, and the street corn is pretty good. I work down the street and this is one of the top places to come to during lunch. Will be back!

Prasiddha H.

Yelp
Had a chance to visit torchys today. I had come here years ago and remember loving the tacos here. I even ended up picking some up before heading to the airport the last time I came even! This time around I wanted to drop by to try the taco I enjoyed the most last time. Trailer park - always get it trashy. I used to love this one as crispy chicken and queso can never go wrong but this time the chicken coating here was so salty. As someone who likes things somewhat salty this was was too much and not enjoyable unfortunately. Sad that the experience wasn't as enjoyable as last time but liked that I was able to try it again. When I came the first time I also tried the Democrat but that taco wasn't too flavorful for me. Overall this is a popular Texas staple - but not sure if I'd go back!

Jane A.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Torchy's. The chicken salad with pistachios is a great choice! I want to try the Queso next time.

Devon S.

Yelp
Always yummy, always hits the spot. Thank you Alberto for being so friendly and courteous!

Delaney W.

Yelp
This is my go to Torchys! I love the online ordering process and quick pickup when you get in store. Staff attentive and helpful.

Shauna S.

Yelp
I love their food!! We ordered queso, guacamole and chips; all were excellent. Then we ordered fried avocado tacos with shredded cheese and lettuce/Democrat tacos with crunchy brisket. Yum! They have a good variety of drinks. Their food is fresh and served quickly.

Ari R.

Yelp
It's a Torchy's. This particular location was a little grimey, the service was also a little slow, but overall the food was good and the cashier was nice. You can't really ask for much more than that. I usually go for the fried avocado at this chain, and this location didn't disappoint. I'm guessing they didn't have flour tortillas because they didn't ask anyone what kind of tortilla we wanted and they all came out in corn. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. I think they ordered pork. Good spot if you're already in the area. I'll try the street corn next time.

John S.

Yelp
Great food great vibes and a good time I love visiting this location. Food was outstanding

Chris M.

Yelp
Oh my goodness this is one of those Austin places that did so well back in the day when they were a trailer only to now go downhill after establishing their brick and mortar. Had a very subpar experience here and with all the taco competition around I can't say they'll win me back anytime soon. It's sad because Torchy's used to be one of my favorite go-to places for great quality tacos and fresh ingredients, but not anymore. The theme here is now smaller portions, lower quality ingredients, and everything is just too damn salty. I got the Baja Shrimp - used to be a favorite of mine - but the shrimp was just way too salty. We also got the Blackened Tuna Taco - it as well was very, very salty. And we finished it all off with a Fried Avocado Taco - which used to be a staple here but ended up being a big letdown. I got 3 pieces of fried salty avocado - which should be the highlight of the taco - but it was overpowered by the refried beans - which was also way too salty. It was so disappointing I actually didn't finish it. Other than the over saltiness I noticed the cheese and lettuce quality has suffered. It's dry and dehydrated, lacked moisture, it's very salty, and you don't get as much anymore (which may be a good thing) and it just doesn't taste fresh like it used to - it tastes like it comes out of a plastic bag. Both corn and flour tortillas were dried out and flavorless.....but hey - at least they weren't too salty. The meal was so salty (how salty was it?) that I literally had to fill up my small water cup after every 2-3 bites because my mouth puckered up and dried out. I've been going to Torchy's since the early 2000's, I remember getting a really nice sized taco with melted cheese and fresh ingredients that was always seasoned right and it tasted quality good. People who have supported them since the beginning can tell the difference - it's just not that good anymore. The quality and integrity of their product has unfortunately deteriorated. In the words of Ordell Robbie (from Jackie Brown): "WTF happened to you, man? Your ass used to be beautiful........"

Michelle A.

Yelp
Best queso and tacos around! I have had queso before but nothing compares to this one. So rich and creamy I could drink it! (Literally) the tacos are always fresh and always so flavorful. They also have a secret menu you can ask them about. They have a variety of options and even gluten free options! Service is always nice and quick. Definitely a must stop if there's one around!

Abby S.

Yelp
torchys tacos has done something that I've waited for patiently, with bated breath, for too long....crispy potatoes....sex in a taco. fuck home fries. yall are amazing

Jordan P.

Yelp
I love torchys! It's a must got to if your visiting Austin. This month the taco of the month is the " Tokyo drifter" and OMG! It was delicious! They also have a wide range of already created tacos and go to is usually the green chili stewed pork tacos. The staff is nice and usually the service is fast. This last time our queso was super cold and some things are hit or miss which is why I did 4/5 stars but on a great day it's 5/5.

Jordan S.

Yelp
Only giving this a bad review because EVERY time I order a taco that comes with pico it NEVER comes with the pico. Like this ingredient is listed on many items but specifically the trailer park and like man. I just want all the ingredients that are supposed to come with my order. Normally I love this place and their food, but this has been a problem for the last 15 plus orders, I usually just end up buying my own pico from H‑E‑B because I know when I order here, it's just not coming. Also what the heck is this? (see photo)

Valerie W.

Yelp
I could write a novella about how wonderful Torchy's Fried avocado tacos are. They're delicious, massive, and always make me happy. But unfortunately their delights couldn't elevate this locations rating. The young lady that took my order was very soft spoken and it was hard to understand her. She was rushing through the ordering process to the point where the lady in front of me wasn't able to complete her order. I received my order and it was missing some of the items I had ordered. It was corrected but I had to get back into a long line to ask for my items. I escorted my young niece into the women's restroom and was appalled at the mess. If she didn't absolutely need to go right at that moment I would have hesitated to let her use the bathroom. The soap dispenser was ripped off the wall and resting atop the mountain of trash. The soap refill was above the paper towel dispenser. The bathroom stall had a long sheet of toilet paper covering the large gap in the door. We quickly left the restroom and I used the sanitizer out of my purse to clean her hands until we got home. I love the food at Torchy's Tacos but I'm not sure this is the location we will return to.

Julie H.

Yelp
I love you Torchy's but your burrito needs serious tweaking. It was a pile of mush. Husband and I decided to try the burritos hoping they would fare better as take out than the tacos. We were wrong. They were barely edible. We both ended up plopping the soppy "burritos" into bowls and picking at them with a fork. Couldn't find the chicken. Ended up more like a 7 layer dip that someone stirred up. Stick to tacos.

Neil E.

Yelp
Maybe I'm partial to the food in Austin, Texas. But Torchy's, located at 300 S. Lamar Blvd., Austin, is some of the best Mexican street food I've ever had. Yes, I know it's a chain restaurant, but credit where credit is due. The food here is better than most I've had throughout the U.S. Southwest, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and elsewhere in Texas. I've only eaten at this Torchy's location, so I can't comment on all the others. However, I can tell you that if you want some excellent street Mexican, you're in the South Lamar District, drop by this place. The food here is reasonably priced, the service, as always in Texas, can't be beaten with a stick, and the chips and salsa are habit-forming. They do follow COVID 19 protocol, and I felt reasonably comfortable here.

Patty G.

Yelp
Soooo amazing! Super fast service Hubby and I ordered the shrimp taco, Chile pork taco and the Jamaican jerk taco also the burrito everything was amazing I was full after one taco!!! Super flavorful and a lot of meat. Do yourself a favor and order the queso it was absolutely delicious!

Krista B.

Yelp
Torchy's Tacos is a Texas institution! Always amazing flavors and bold taco combinations! Basically, I have not had a taco at Torchy's that I have not liked but there are a few in particular that I truly enjoy. When COVID-19 is defeated and the world attempts to return to normal, I highly recommend trying their margaritas and sangria and lounging about eating queso, tacos, and just about anything you can find on their menu. My Go-To order: - Queso (of course) - You literally would not be eating Tex Mex if you did not order queso to start! It is perfectly creamy and spicy! It also comes with a dollop of guacamole which is oh-so-refreshing. And the chips are wonderful too. Ya know that feeling when you crunch into a crisp, perfectly seasoned chip and you think, what could possibly make this experience better? Yeah well, the answer to that is the queso! - Trailer Park (TRASHY) taco - Getting it trashy means you substitute literally anything healthy on the taco for more queso, need I say more? It's fried chicken, queso, and other magic that basically creates a mouth-gasm. You're welcome. Special shoutout to these other leading tacos that I order on occasion - Tipsy Chick, Monk Special, and Migas. If you're visiting Austin for the first time (it is an ATX original, HOLLA) or you're a native, support Torchy's Tacos! They are a chain but they stay true to their roots and make DAMN GOOD TACOS.

Hippy M.

Yelp
I ordered the Mr. Pink and Mr. Orange tacos. I had heard such wonderful things about Torchy's. The fish was so dry, it could have been jerky. It was horrible even when I drowned it in salsa. Bad quality. The rice and beans just tasted... funny. I really wanted to love this place. I will definitely never eat here again. I wish this establishment nothing but the best. From all of the glowing reviews, maybe I just came in on an off day.

Liana W.

Yelp
Tortchys has a couple vegetarian taco options. Honestly they need to revamp their vegetarian options. Their tacos are good but they can definitely get more creative and more flavorful with their vegetarian tacos. They have corn tortillas so everything can be made gluten free, but if it's fried you'll need to ask for it to be grilled. Their guacamole is amazing and I've never had any better from elsewherez

Karla D.

Yelp
From food truck to local chain. And let's just say the food is OFF THE CHAIN! I'm a taco snob. I will only eat the best of the best and if it sucks, I'll let you know. Dang, these tacos are super fantastic on flavor! Like the kind of taste you dream about days and weeks later. The queso...liquid gold indeed. It's like a lifeline. If I don't have 10cc's of Torchy's queso every ten minutes I won't survive.

Jason C.

Yelp
Best fast but quality tacos in Austin! I love their various salsas and the staff are always friendly and really seem to enjoy working there.

Michaela P.

Yelp
Always a good stop for lunch. You can never go wrong with a Democrat or a Republican, but decided to order off the secret menu and get an Ace of Spades - it's bi-partisan. (The Hipster is my other secret fave.) Skipped on the special but may have to come back next week for the bottle rocket shrimp. I'd give Torchy's 5 stars if the tortillas were made in house. And...the queso is the best. Who doesn't love queso?

Jason C.

Yelp
The most consistent thing about Torchy's is that no matter which location you visit the service WILL be awful. If the food was not good there's zero chance I'd ever go back. I'm standing in the restaurant as I type this simply waiting for chips and queso that was supposed to be ready for pickup 25 minutes ago. I've been standing right by all the employees and literally no one has asked what I need.....and this is absolutely standard operating procedure for Torchy's, treat the customer like they don't exist. I've never seen a place have such a consistent lack of respect for their customers.

Kelsey L.

Yelp
That "trailer park" taco though! Before I get into how good their fried chicken taco is, let's talk about the rest of my experience. My family and I came here for a late lunch (around 4pm). We stumbled upon this specific "Torchy's Tacos" location and immediately started talking photos of the exterior. It was just too cute, especially the restaurants name. In term of price, these tacos are on the pricer side (around $4 per taco). Although expensive, the tacos themselves are quite large and one particular one is worth the price. The employees were super nice when they delivered our food and quickly got an extra bowl for us upon request. I ordered two tacos: the "trailer park" and "green chili pork" taco. For the first taco, I got it "trashy" (queso instead of lettuce) which really changed the game. The chicken was crispy and the queso paired well with it. This taco doesn't require any sauces and I would actually recommend not adding any (it may ruin the flavor). After I finished this taco, I craved more! The second taco lacked flavor so I had to drown it in sauce. I would definitely recommend coming to Torchy's when you come to Texas and of course try one or two of their "trailer park" taco!

Cathy W.

Yelp
First on my list of places to visit or places I tell others to visit when in Austin is Torchy's! I meet Mr. Orange there every time! (unless it's breakfast and then I get Migas) There are so many great options that everyone in our family has their own different favorites (Republican, Democrat, Trailer Park) but we all agree on the margaritas! I'm not sure what they put in there (I think it might be a magic elixir!) but frozen or on the rocks are equally wonderful. Don't leave without trying the chips and queso and an order of street corn. You'll be sorry if you do! And if you live in Michigan like me, watch for cheap airfare so you can get at least a quarterly fix! They don't have Torchy's in Ann Arbor, but a girl can always dream!

Yelp
(Summary at bottom) I've been to Torchy's one time before so when I came for a visit with my parents, this was the first place I took them. The experience and food was simply incredible. There was a line and a lot of people in the store but we were at the register ordering within a couple minutes. The people were very friendly and helpful and we were each able to order a few tacos and chip dips quickly. We found an outdoor shaded table that fit us comfortably and our food arrive in around 10 minutes. Once we started eating, I felt proud as everyone LOVED their food. I got the green chile pork because I've had it in the past and once again knocked my socks off. I also tried the cross roads and I was very happy. My dad got a trailer park and loved it! My sister got a fried avocado and shrimp, both she loved. My mom is vegan so she was happy to see she could eat the fried avocado taco (without cheese) and she loved that! We also grabbed the Mexican corn and guac. My mom liked the corn but wasn't overly impressed and everyone murdered the guac. I would say food was a hit overall, just as I expected. The only piece of feedback/negative thing I have about my experience was that one of the tacos I wanted was not available because of a meat that ran out. Oh well! SUMMARY Pros - Quick and simple ordering - Nice and helpful service - Comfortable seating outside - 10/10 food across the board - Vegan options! Cons - Out of the taco I wanted
