Totto Ramen - Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"Totto Ramen opened in the summer of 2010, right in the heat of what we'll call "The Great Ramen Awakening." First we had Momofuku, then we had Ippudo, then came Totto Ramen followed by about 20 other places, and now I'm pretty sure you can get tonkotsu lattes at Starbucks. Our initial review at the time had us singing the praises of Totto's arrival in Midtown West. Now we're here to update you with important news: It's still really f*cking good. If you aren't yet familiar, Totto's style of ramen lies somewhere in between the porky excessiveness of Ippudo and the basic, hangover curing magic of more traditional spots like Rai Rai Ken. It's a chicken-based broth as opposed to pork, and the noodles are thin. It all feels pretty authentic, and it's always satisfying—especially if you can hit it for lunch. But before you round up a crew from the office for some slurping, be aware that this location of Totto can be pretty packed. Waits for two are usually at least 45 minutes, and tables of three and four probably should not be attempted during peak meal hours. There is, however, frequent availability for a single stool at the bar, so dining solo will definitely give you an advantage in this situation. Find a book that you can pretend to be reading, and maybe someone will think you're interesting. Food Rundown Totto Chicken Paitan Ramen We love a big bowl of simmered pig, but the chicken broth here has a slightly different flavor, and it's delicious. The homemade noodles are also excellent, and we add an additional serving of pork just to be extra ridiculous. You should too. Totto Spicy Ramen The Chicken Paitan Ramen, but with some heat. We prefer this to the regular version, but know that it will definitely make you sweat. There is an "Extreme Spicy Ramen" as well, but you probably don't want to be reliving this meal for several days. Totto Miso Ramen An excellent miso ramen, if that's your scene. We prefer the other two options, but we did like the fact that the you can stir in as much miso as you like in this situation. Broiled Char Siu Pork The "house specialty" pork, this is what you'll find floating in your ramen, but on a plate and served with a yuzu mayonnaise. I guess this is Totto's answer to the pork bun? By no means does it suck, but we just don't feel it's a must order for your table. Stick to noodles and maybe some edamame." - Chris Stang

The Best Restaurants Near Radio City Music Hall - New York - The Infatuation

"Totto might not be as famous as Ippudo, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that the ramen here isn’t great or that you’ll easily snag a table. Because it is, and you won’t. If you can deal with the wait, you’ll be served ramen that isn’t as excessively rich as Ippudo, which might make it even better for pre-theater consumption." - katherine lewin

Ambiance (4/5): This is a classic Japanese ramen shop feel—tight high top bar seating that overlooks the kitchen. There are a few tables on the side as well. It was cool seeing the solo chef prepare all the moving parts. Sadly, I did not feel like the seating was very comfortable, as the bottom part moved around on its own and there is no backing. Service (5/5): Came in on a Friday afternoon and there was only 2 or 3 other solo patrons so I was attended to throughout my experience. Toriburo Spicy (3/5): The noodles were a bit on the undercooked side so a little more chewy (which I like/prefer!) I like the homemade spicy paste that gave the dish another level of flavor! For the price point, I was definitely hoping that the pork charsiu piece would be a little more generous in portion size—however it’s really only 2 small slices. The flavor was there and a good blend of meat to fat ratio but just really to meager. The dish also does not come with any egg. I think I was hoping for a bit more flavor in the broth to wow me but it’s admittedly hard to compare paitan to tonkontsu. Happy Hour pricing Monday to Friday 12-6:30pm during the summer looks like $3-4 discounts off beers/sake!

Pretty good ramen, and a decent spicy sauce. Not outstanding, but definitely worth checking. Pretty small place, just two tables and bar stools.

Google
It is a tight dim light mid basement type space. The ambience is not up to par but the food is good. The chicken paitan broth has a very subtle and soothing taste. The noodles are cooked slightly raw which I like. Over all taste is good but the ramen could have had more default veggies in it like the way it is elsewhere usually. The quantity is quite less than usual. A good spot in the area overall.

Google
This place really transports! The interior is small and very similar to ramen shops you’d find in Japan. Menu is straight to the point and offers a quality selection of assorted broths. Their inhouse char-shiu chicken/pork is really tasty. They also have a “add rice + topping” to finish off your soup once you finish your noodles (genius!) Happy hour prices looked super reasonable and will definitely try to stop by again

Please, for your own sake, please avoid. Your $15/$30 are much better spent elsewhere. Surprise your mom with it, or donate it to charity or something, you’d get more enjoyment from that. I don’t usually review places but I had to for this one, just to let people know. I have no idea how this place got as highly reviewed as it did. This is both one of the worst ramens I’ve had and also one of the worst dining experiences. The broth did not have much flavor (and not just because it’s chicken paitan, I’ve had good chicken broth, give Susuru a try). The noodles were just normal, okay. The 2 thin pieces of pork char siu were also just normal, average at best. The service was extremely slow. I sat down at 2:57PM, and just sat there staring into space until 3:17PM when someone remembered to take my order. I received my food at 3:37PM. I also had to ask for water myself, and it’s not like the place was busy (just around 4-5 pairs). Oh, and the atmosphere. It’s in the basement, very small and tight. It’s typical of ramen restaurants in Japan, so I won’t fault that. But my stool was so loose that I almost fell twice. It’s like I had to balance myself as I was sitting. My leg was falling sleep halfway through the meal. Please, for the love of God, save your money. Go across the street and get yourself an earl grey cream puff from Bibble & Sip or something with this money instead. You’ll thank me later.

We recently discovered this cozy Japanese spot in our neighborhood, and it’s definitely a hidden gem! I love that they use chicken broth for most of their ramen. I had the Toribro deluxe mega ramen, and the broth was rich and flavorful, not too overpowering. The noodles had a nice chew, though they were a little undercooked for my liking. My boyfriend tried the vegan truffle miso ramen, which was also delicious but a bit salty. We also enjoyed the fresh and tasty seaweed salad. The service was good, and the beer was served cold. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

Google
Toribro Ramen in NYC is a cozy, inviting spot known for its rich, flavorful chicken-based broths and perfectly cooked noodles. The menu focuses on tori paitan-style ramen, offering a creamy, comforting bowl that’s both hearty and satisfying without being too heavy. Toppings are fresh and well-balanced, and the service is warm and efficient. If you’re looking for a solid chicken ramen option in the city, Toribro is a great choice for a comforting and delicious meal.

Google
Super tiny hole in the wall spot with very minimal seating area but the ramen 🍜 here is delicious. If you’re in the area and craving some warm ramen this is the spot! They also have a in-house made chill oil that’s super yummy if you’re wanting to add a little kick to it!

Yelp
So delicious, a must-try! My husband got the thicker/chewier noodles while I opted for the thin. They were both pretty good but the egginess from the thicker noodles changed the flavor of the broth a bit, so I'd personally recommend the thinner noodles. Happy hour deals for drinks were pretty good. Service was nice and efficient. It's a cozy little shop down a small flight of stairs, so probably not great for big groups but definitely check it out if you're with a smaller party.

Yelp
I'm honestly not sure how we first came across Toribro, but we find ourselves coming back every time we're in New York. It has that underground Japanese izakaya restaurant vibe, which I absolutely adore. The Toribro Deluxe Mega is a chicken paitan soup that is loaded with pork belly, chashu, fried garlic, garlic paste, egg, scallions, and nori. The soup consistency runs a bit thicker than most, which packs an incredibly umami depth of flavor. Super nourishing and hits all the right spots, especially if you go on a rainy day. Docking off 1 star due to wait times; it is a very small hole in the wall type of establishment so there isn't much seating to begin with. Their service also seems to follow a certain organized structure as well, as we tried to place our order right when we got seated but our server (who was the only waiter) told us we needed to wait as she went about tending to other tables for awhile before even setting down our water, etc. I'd say make sure you're not in a rush when you come here, but it is worth it.

Yelp
Was in need of a quick dinner and so I walked around Hell's Kitchen for some ideas. Have not been back to Japan for several months now, and I think it was clear to me that Japanese ramen was on my mind! Once I entered the restaurant, I was quickly seated by the server and she told me to have a seat right at the bar. Before ordering, I kindly asked if they had a restroom, thank god they had one. Everything felt like I was right in Japan. The small size of the restroom, there were at least 10 seats available, and the chef you could watch while he prepared and cook your meal! Once I placed my order, my Gyoza was delivered within 5 minutes, another minute my KimChee was delivered. Last but not least was my bowl of ramen! Oh how this was perfect and I couldn't have asked for more. Other items on the menu l'd like to try on another visit, they also serve Beer but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol that evening. This would be a perfect spot for Happy Hour as their signage's shows that they have it M-F 12-6:30pm :-) For those who like to dine out with large groups, this may be a tough spot. If you like good Japanese ramen, this will hit the spot. Right in the middle of HK, it's a perfect place and the price is right. They do accept Tap, credit card and $.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious, and the fact that their broth is chicken broth, I absolutely loved it. I order the # 2, Toribro spicy ramen and it live up to the expectations. I came across this spot on Instagram, and because I was in the area I had to give them a try. The chicken broth was rich, flavorful and delicious, the noodles were perfect. I eat a lot of ramen and every spot creates there dish there way, after eating my order I was still hungry as there wasn't much toppings etc. but what I got, it was absolutely perfect, just needed more. The service I received was great, I was welcomed in, seated and food came out fast. It's a really small and nice spot, that's clean and most importantly, has good air conditioning as it was hot outside/ eating hot ramen, so thanks for having ac.

Yelp
Toribro knocks it out of the park every time we come here! I am obsessed with their chicken paitan soup, the pork gyoza appetizer and the sake to go along with the meal. They are always so friendly and we've usually been able to get in without a wait even though it's a small restaurant. This is our go to ramen spot in NYC and I can't recommend it enough. Try to sit at the bar if you can and say hi to the chef!

Yelp
Quaint little underground ramen shop. Not too busy at lunch, if you want to avoid a wait. Such great broth! Gyoza: A nice crispy lacey bottom. Love the crunch against the steamed topside. A perfect mix of textures and tastes. Toribro Deluxe Mega Ramen: Pork overload, in a good way! Pork like three different ways, all delicious. Set aside a right and cloudy pork broth. The noodles were nice and springy. A serious ramen contender in Hell's Kitchen.

Yelp
Stumbled across Toribro and would recommend stopping by - but only order the ramen! My friend ordered the Toribro Deluxe Mega ramen, and this was definitely the star of the show. The homemade broth was delicious, not overly salty and was very flavorful. The meat fell apart and was tender, perfect for a large bowl of ramen! I ordered the Pork Chra Siu Mayo Don. The meat and made-in-house mayo were fantastic, but the dish overall felt too light and fell a bit short for me. I ordered the Salmon onigiri, as I was still hungry - But this also fell short for me; There was not a lot of filling and the onigiri rice felt too sticky and difficult to eat. Additional points for the service and space itself - Our waitress was very attentive and kind. They do a great job here of churning customers in and out to keep business moving, yet not making you feel rushed. The space is small and a walk down from the street, but you do not feel cramped while sitting there.

Yelp
We got the gyoza and chicken ramen and added an egg. The gyoza was alright. It wasn't that flavorful or had enough fillings for me. The chicken broth was phenomenal! So hearty and unique (in nyc). It wasn't overly fatty, so I wasn't nauseous after eating it. I got the wavy noodles with mine and my partner got the straight noodles. As a person who prefers straight noodles, the wavy noodles were much better in this ramen. The wavy noodles were cooked perfectly Al dente with an eggy flavor. It's the best wavy noodles I've had. The egg was also cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Maybe next time I'll get the pork char siu since the chicken was a bit over cooked in some parts, but I didn't mind it! They get a 5 stars for how unique and delicious the chicken broth is. The chefs were speaking Japanese, so it's authentic!

Yelp
This is my first time coming and try Toribro. One odlf my friend recommended this to us and she's not wrong! It's so good and so comforting. Service is really good. The waiter is so friendly and she helped us to open Ramune Overall we love this place!

Yelp
A hidden gem we just discovered in our neighborhood! This cozy, authentic Japanese spot is tiny but full of charm. I like that they use chicken broth for most of their ramen. I ordered the Toribro deluxe mega ramen, and the broth was rich, flavorful, not too salty or overpowering. The noodles had a nice chew, though they were slightly more undercooked than I prefer. My boyfriend ordered the vegan option, truffle miso with vegetables, which was also delicious but a little salty. We also tried the seaweed salad which was fresh and delicious. The service was good--no complaints. The beer was served cold, just as it should be. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu options. Great find and definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Came here with friends and ordered the Deluxe Mega ramen, which comes standard with wheat noodles. This dish is excellent choice if wanting a surprising amount of meats compared to other ramen places for the same price. The drink prices are a bit steep for the area though.
google avatar

Ria H.

Yelp
A hole in the wall kind of joint. Once you go In your unsure of the place but once the food comes to your table, you see that the food looks delicious. We tried the Toribro mega Ramen and the broth is so delicious. Very flavorful and rich. Along w the other ingredients in the ramen, the ramen was just perfect. Ordered the curry as well which was just ok. Overall, come here for the ramen and you wont go wrong.
google avatar

Waylon J.

Yelp
Cozy spot that's a little bit of a hidden gem to find. I love how it's underground - it makes me feel like I discovered somewhere only known to locals. There is limited seating inside so definitely be aware of that. I also love how small the menu is - it generally means everything is fresh and you can see everything being cooked in front of you. The aesthetic is interesting - you have their big pots of broth boiling over the stove top and can smell the delicious smells. Everything came out pretty quick. Menu wise, decided to try the spicy ramen and also got a bowl of broth which was around $6.50. The noodle textures were good - it's not the biggest bowl in the world, but definitely filling. For a cozy day especially during the winter, I'll be back to check things out.

Yelp
I came here later in the evening for some ramen and we had to wait for a couple of minutes but the line moved pretty fast. This spot is definitely more on the casual side but the food was delicious! The ramen was so flavorful and filling I would definitely recommend for someone looking for a cozy ramen spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty ramen, great value, big portion sizes. The restaurant is small and cosy, it has about 3 or 4 tables plus a range of bar seating. The food comes out quickly.
google avatar

Trae F.

Yelp
A hidden gem! If it's delicious ramen you want in a no frills environment then this is the place for you. Some of the best ramen the beau and I have had in a very long time. Sit at the bar or grab one of the few tables. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Darren!
google avatar

Kann T.

Yelp
The food is good. The service was just okay. The place is like a small Japanese place with mostly bar seating.
google avatar

Victoria G.

Yelp
Food 6/10 The broth seemed to be from chicken stock, and it unfortunately lacked complexity. A little basic and heavy too. The ramen itself had a decent chew, but the thickness was thicker than what I prefer. The gyozas were very solid though. Atmosphere 5/10 Quite a cramped space. It's a very hole in the wall narrow hallway, but I'm glad they had hangers to put your coats because there were only backless tools. Service 7/10 Solid service, nothing much to say about it.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Honestly, I think I have a tremendous wave of nostalgia every time I set foot in Toronto. I've been coming to this specific spot when it was totto ramen and I appreciate that the spirit is still there. No fuss, no frills, just strong delicious chicken paitan ramen. Everyone is kind and attentive. Everyone cooking behind the counter engages and I'm happy they're still kicking it here. Whether it's the extra spicy with miso (or without depending on my mood) and the spicy veggie ramen the bowls still slap. Cheers xx
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
Amazing chicken miso ramen with seasoned egg, and takowasa (wasabi and raw octopus) appetizer! We were sat at the bar and the service was excellent, place was clean and quiet, and we were able to get in and out in about 45 minutes -- although we left right before the dinner rush started to come in so it might be trickier then. There's a small staff but they assemble each bowl by hand, and it was a great experience to watch the chef prepare the bowls! Loved eating noodles and watching someone work a blow torch on pieces of char siu. We walked out re-energized and ready to tackle an evening walking around Manhattan.

Yelp
It's a must each time I come to the city. My favorite Ramen Spot. Come check this gem out. I promise you'll love it
google avatar

Yelp
Two years after I got a bug in my ramen, I decided to give this round 2 and it was equally disappointing but no bug Highlight: raw octopus with wasabi because it has flavor Ramen 2/5 Cold even though it's cooked in front of us Everything comes from plastic bags, whether it be frozen or bought in bulk Ramen broth is not thick nor creamy Lacks flavor Toppings are limited Price 2.5/5 The wait was the same at Ippudo and the price point was same. We got the $18 option and you get half an egg. #5 out of 6 options. Ippudo would have tasted better and we put our names down in both places Service 3/5 One server for the whole restaurant One chef for the whole restaurant It's small but when one person services 18 ppl, you won't get much attention Ambiance 3/5 I like the modest ramen bar situation but the problem is really the size of the restaurant that dictates the service and kitchen size and hence quality of food Cleanliness 2.5/5 The bathroom needs some maintenance in between shifts! It's small! And they need paper towels or a hand drier that works

Yelp
We were visiting NY, just finished a morning walking tour, and were looking for some good eats.....more specifically, since the weather was kind of cold, we had a craving for something hot and soupy. Our tour guide directed us to go check out this food street as we'd be spoiled for choice there. So, off we went and yelp'd good places for a good bowl of hot ramen, and this place popped up. Located in a small basement space, I can see how there'd be a line to get in here during peak hours, but we were fortunate that the crowd hadn't formed yet, so we managed to get couple of seats at the bar....where can get a close up view of the kitchen prep of our food. Warning though.....this place is very small ...almost claustraphobic, which probably explains why they cannot have too many staff and servers on the floor....so, service can get a bit slow, and the servers a bit too busy to give you full attention. So, we went ahead and ordered the Toribro Paitan Ramen and the Toribro Spicy Ramen. Yes, there's absolutely no doubt that the freshly made, hot, delicious bowl of steaming ramen is good. However, the portion size for what you pay is pretty small....and for some, the broth may be considered flavorful, but for others, it may be kind of salty. But, what I really liked was that the broth was made from chicken soup.....since I am not much of a pork person. Sure, the ramen was good, and it really hits the spot on a cold day out, but we ended still hungry afterward and went for some pizza soon after :)

Yelp
Whenever I want to impress my friends with NYC ramen, I always bring them here! This place is so delicious. Everyone working there is super chill and nice. Just keep in the mind that your party should not exceed more than 4. This place is small but so worth it. I recommend Toribro Mega is deliciousssssss. I always add corn to mine lol

Yelp
It's a very straightforward ramen place with a few small tables and a large bar seating area. Service is standard get you out the door asap. Ramen was good but honestly nothing special. I think I'm just not a fan of chicken based ramen.
google avatar

Yelp
Apparently this is a former location of Totto Ramen, when they closed the head chef opened this space to keep the vibe going, or more precisely, to introduce people to the "next level of ramen". Like the chicken rising from the ashes, Toribro was reborn. Cool fact, Tori means "bird" in Japanese, and Toribro like Totto specializes in Chicken Paitan, thus we have Bird-Bro!* The compact space has a ten seat bar, a two top and a couple of larger tables towards the back. All the action is happening behind the bar, the chef is making it all happen while a large pot of paitan is stirred at various intervals by the staff. The lone female server deftly and efficiently handled the patrons as a bunch of us came in at once. I love the Sapporo on draft here - they must move a lot of this because it tasted so fresh and chilled to the right temp - it hit the spot and went perfectly with my "Toribro Deluxe Mega" ramen. I ordered this without any of the garlic, because as much as I love the flavor garlic doesn't love me. But you know what, this was actually a bit of revelation for me because I could actually taste how amazing their chicken paitan is! My partner in crime had the Toribro Deluxe and I tasted the broth that had the garlic and that was all I could taste, it also made it saltier. So my revelation, and recommendation is stop ordering ramen with various garlic or spicy additions - if possible get it on the side to add to bites so you can actually taste other flavors. /end rant. My Deluxe Mega came with Char Siu three ways - sliced, shredded and Kakuni, being a chunky cube of meat. None of these were particularly outstanding and if ranked in order it would go 1st Kakuni, Sliced then Shredded. The meat portions were on the smaller side of most other ramen spots. No matter, the paitan and noodles truly shine here. (I almost went 4 stars because of this, but thought they exceled everywhere else so more like 4.5) * Full Credit to Sam Y for knowing Japanese and picking up on the Tori translation

Yelp
Stopped by after a show nearby. The logo is cute with the rooster comb. Fun tidbit: "Tori" is bird in Japanese, so "Bird"bro has a cute comb! A few steps down and into a small restaurant with J Pop music softly playing. There is a nice long counter with 10 seats (discreetly numbered!), where you can watch the magic happen, and a few small tables. The service was attentive, with 1 waitress taking care of the whole restaurant. The chef, and occasionally the waitress, checked on the pot of broth consistently, and made sure to give it a few good stirs to keep things moving! The Toribro Mega Ramen had a good amount of garlic (fried garlic and garlic paste). Garlic doesn't agree with my friend, so he got the Toribro Deluxe Mega Ramen without the garlic. After tasting each other's broths, we felt like the garlic made the broth saltier, maybe a tad overly salty. So, if you're not a huge fan of garlic or want a less salty (but still flavorful broth), ask them to hold it! The Char Siu was tender and flavorful, though a tad bit dry. I got the noodles firm, and it was perfectly firm. The Seasoned Boiled Egg is well seasoned and cooked a little past soft boiled. I prefer it fully soft boiled and jammy. The Bean Sprouts add a crisp texture to the bowl. Overall, a good portion. If you're a big eater you can order extra noodles (Kaedama) and/or soup! The Japanese Green Tea has a roasted flavor with a hint of natural sweetness. Good for ending the meal with. I would definitely come again if I'm in the area.

Yelp
One of the best ramen we've ever had; the broth is incredible Loved - Toribro Spicy - Toribro Mega - Friendly service - Relaxed setting with open kitchen Liked - Kakuni char siu pork bun - Chicken mayo bun

Yelp
Not sure how this place has such high reviews. For nearly $20, I got a bowl of what tasted like chicken stock with no complexity at all. Visually, it was probably the saddest-looking ramen I've ever been served. Service was just non existent, our server never checked in once. Overall, a huge letdown. Wouldn't come back.

Yelp
used to love this place and first introduced me to paitan which i now love (sometimes moreso than tonkotsu!) but after seeing roaches twice now in different visits, i dunno if i can come back.

Yelp
Felt like true ramen bar - tried the chicken ramen - hit the spot before theatre. Also the home Made chili paste - and added garlic paste and Bok choy. Real brewed green tea. Cozy comfort- very small wait list quick

Yelp
It was good and I hate everything. I ordered for delivery so can't comment on the restaurant but the food was good. I got the mega ramen and added cabbage

Yelp
This place is just amazing. Note: It can get really busy here. For sure one of my favorite Ramen places in the city. One cook running the show here and it is delicious. We love being seated right we're the magic happens at the bar, so make sure you get here early so you can choose. Delicious and tasteful Ramen and the Gyo-za are a must-do!! Small restaurant with a very authentic New York vibe where you have to go down stairs to get your food. Loved it!

Yelp
Its a nice cozy ramen bar that specializes in chicken paitain broth. They offer two types of noodles, I personally prefer straight noods. If you sit at the bar, you get to watch the chef make the ramen which is fun. Overall, its a very hearty meal.

Yelp
Legend tells of bad blood between the folks behind Toribro and Totto. Like the ramen version of the Capulets vs the Montagues, with less poison and more pork. Well, chopstick to my head, I'd give it to Toribro--each bowl was an umami powerhouse. We got the Toribro Mega and Toribro Miso. The Mega was a classic tonkotsu broth done well, so no surprises there. But I generally detest miso-based ramen, and yet the Toribro Miso won me over. Just don't bother ordering apps like gyoza here (you should never order apps at any ramen restaurant). We saw them opening Costco-sized packages of frozen dumplings to make them.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Experience: 4/5 My party of 3 was able to walk in and be seated on a Sunday evening. This unassuming ramen spot does not have much seating indoors (probably 2 6-person tables), but we were able to sit at the counter. The menu is not large, but it covers the classics. I ordered the Toribro mega. Because we sat at the counter, we got to see the chef assemble our meals, which was interesting to see. The ramen itself was very satisfying, and the bowl was beautifully portrayed. The meat was melt in your mouth, and I appreciated the addition of the ramen egg. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the soup was savory without being too heavy.

Yelp
This place was hyped up by a friend of mine. To be honest, it was mid at best. The ramens all tasted the same. The inside is very tight. And my experience felt very rushed.

Yelp
Small, casual restaurant with only a few tables, plus bar seating. Top-quality ramen and tasty gyoza. Already planning my next trip back!

Yelp
Toribro is my go-to when I want a comforting bowl of ramen, but don't want to walk more than 1 block. Ah the perks of living in Hell's Kitchen. Comforting is definitely the right term to describe Toribro. The broth is not the richest in town (though it certainly has depth), but it's great on a rainy day, when you want a warm bowl of noodles and soup without being absolutely knocked out by a grease and salt bomb. The broth is very balanced, and quite enjoyable to drink. I usually get their deluxe mega, which comes with garlic (a welcome addition to balance out the richness), egg, tender pork belly and other goodies. Their gyoza are also quite tasty- thin skin with a crispy finish. Worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood!

Yelp
I got the toribro mega ramen and it was a very standard, solid bowl of ramen. I liked the seared meats, but did think that the noodles could have been better. I think it's a good no-frills ramen restaurant; we got seated quickly by the bar and overall had a good time. In the end, it kinda blends in with the other ramen shops of NYC and it didn't really stand out to me too much, but I still had a good time overall.

Yelp
Very, very good ramen. They specialize in chicken paitan broth (not as rich as tonkotsu but still quite rich), which has a marvelous depth of flavor. We tried the curry paitan ramen as well, but I thought the original paitan tasted better. They allow you to select your noodle type (thin or wavy) and level of firmness; we ordered both the al dente and the firm and they both tasted the same, so I'm not sure if that actually makes a difference. It's a small space, so I'd suggest coming in a small groups or even as a single diner.

Yelp
Insane find, their broth is chicken based but is rich and creamy as if it was pork based. Really a hidden gem tucked away on a street. We ordered a spicy ramen, the mega ramen, gyoza (gyoza was so good), and their pork buns. Would recommend basically everything on their menu. Note: the place is pretty small, with very little seating

Yelp
REALK TALK: I wanted to try Toribro Ramen as they had Pac-Man and friends as part of their design on their website. Unfortunately, none of the Pac-Man paraphernalia existed in the eatery... not sure what that was all about! This place was where it was once Totto Ramen - Toribro Ramen specializes in chicken paitan, but their menu also offers various appetizers and donburi. We came here for a later lunch, and we ordered: +Gyo-za - pan-fried Japanese dumplings, filled with ground pork and vegetables; this came as 6 or 8 pieces; you can opt for their hot & sour soy sauce or the yuzu dashi Toribro; we opted for the first one, which is the typical Japanese style; the hubs enjoyed these, as they were crispy +a Salmon onigiri - this was just okay; the rice was a little bit cold, and the fillings of the salmon was a little bland and dry; could have had more mayo or seasoning +a Toribro Spicy ramen - chicken paitan soup with housemade spicy sauce; this came with nori seaweed, scallions, bean sprouts, and a sliced char shiu (one can go for pork or chicken, in which opted for the latter); the broth was okay; definitely creamier and more flavorful than other chicken paitans we've had; the spice flavor was a little off, and we were thinking we should have gotten the non-spicy/original version; the toppings were generous, but I was surprised and disappointed that a nitimago egg wasn't automatically included; noodles were cooked well and al-dente; the chicken char shiu was a sliced breast - I wasn't a fan of this, but the hubs liked it Service was very welcoming and friendly. There is one restroom, but it needs to be maintained; it was just wet and gross. I'm glad I was able to try this place out, but not sure if it's worth a repeat visit. +stick with their regular paitan +noodles are cooked well +friendly staff +avoid the restroom

Yelp
I went on a Monday afternoon. The food was fine, but there wasn't much chicken for ~$20 after tax and tip. I wouldn't come back here just for this. Services was non-existent--he didn't check in on me at all.

Yelp
One of my favorite Ramen places in Hell's Kitchen. We've come here four times in the last year, and likely will be back again. Here they specialize in a chicken-broth ramen that is thick and creamy. Super delicious. Best of all, if you have broth left over you can order some plain rice to soak it up and have a second "ramen" experience. The chef highly suggests - I tried my first time and totally agree. At times we've waited a bit to get a table or bar seat, but not very long. I enjoy how local it feels - a great hole in the wall kind of places with excellent food and service. If I could give it six stars, I would.

Yelp
First weird experience under new management or something. Ramen tasted good as usual. Still thinking about weird experience so i have to share. Perhaps these comments would help stop what i think they are doing. Got check. Bill was about $37.25 with tax. I gave a $50 bill. Was waiting for my change while putting on my jacket. Host/cashier came back with my change and showed me a $5 bill. i didn't think about how much was my change since i was rushing out. when i exited i realized i was supposed to get $12.75 back. Not the $5 (of which i added $1 to make $6 to tip 17.5%) I couldn't get this experience off my head because the hostess asked me if I wanted my change and showed me that $5 bill she slipped into the check cover. Was she hoping that I would forget about that $37.25 Bill and accidentally tip 37.2%? I mean service was okay, despite that we waited a while for our check, as we waited for her to clear out several other tables to seat new customers and provide them menus, etc.

Yelp
I was so just wanting a great ramen experience and I was sure this place, with the decor would be it. We even traveled out of Chelsea, uptown, just based on the look of this ramen store. No. I ordered the gyoza. It was burnt. I gave it a try anyway and as I assumed from appearances, it also tasted very burnt.. to make it worse, the ramen chef and the server tried for five minutes to convince e me that this was the way it was suppose to be, as if I'm a complete idiot. I use to work at Ippudo, I speak Japanese and know how it should be as I've had gyoza many other times in my life, played exactly the same way. Just not BURNT! It was highly insulting. Any other traditional Japanese restaurant would not have even served that. So from the start, my dining experience was trash. And yes, though I ate, one and half of the six before my burnt taste inquiry, it was still on my bill when I got my check. It was the worst dining experience. I'm a young black l girl, they tried to play me and did not give the respect traditional ramen stores are KNOWN for! I left a kind enough $8 tip and I felt regret even leaving that. So the server played herself on her own tip, by trying to go back and forth with me about $10 BURNT gyoza. There's no way you can convince a customer that something that looks burnt, doesn't also taste BURNT.
