Locally owned and now with a second outpost, Toro’ko made the Express-News Top 10 for polished sashimi, chirashi, and indulgent specialty rolls. A strong North Side option for variety and value.

Just wow! What a great experience! From sitting down at the bar, wine selection, appetizers, entrees all the way to the bill, just a great experience. This is one you don't want to miss for your trading fun. If presentation is part of your desired experience, you are in for a treat. And taste, oh heck yes. Come and enjoy!

This place was such a great recommendation and surprised us. Raw fish tasted fresh, rolls were delicious and seaweed salad amazing. They had such a large variety of sushi rolls, we were able to narrow it down to two. San Antonio roll and Toro'ko roll, so delicious. Hands-down recommend both of them. There is a chili crunch to San Antonio roll which I enjoyed. The place is spacious however it does get quite chilly indoors and they do have outdoor seating. Service is a little slower during lunch as it did get pretty packed. However, can't wait to return to try the other rolls!

Wow! Outstanding food service! The sushi was delicious! This was different! A different combination of flavor that is completely new to me. Oscar and two brothers have truly mastered this art. This joint is a true hidden gem 💎 in Stone Oak. Toroko is my new go-to Sushi 🍣 joint. It's small, but that's a good thing. It keeps it the experience intimate. It's kinda like being in Japan. To start you got to try the Ceviche Tostada. Chase it down with the Sake of your choice. I had the Z Roll, Shaggy Dog Roll, the Black Mamba Roll, and of course the Toro'ko Special Roll. All so delicious and like I said, different. Be sure to kick down both the servers, Oscar and two brothers, they deserve it....

We visited Toro Ko Sushi in San Antonio during a baseball tournament, drawn by its high Yelp ratings. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing, both in terms of service and the quality of the sushi, which was not worth the price. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty, so we expected prompt service. However, as more customers arrived and were seated, their food was served while we waited over 30 minutes without any updates. Our server seemed to ignore us, and when I finally asked about our order, he vaguely responded that they were “still working on a couple of rolls” but assured us they would be out soon. I requested that they start bringing out the completed rolls, as there was no reason to let them sit and lose freshness. Additionally, we had to ask for plates, as the server appeared unaware of basic table setup before food arrived. After finishing our meal, we had to request the check because the server repeatedly passed by without asking if we needed anything else. When we received the bill, we were shocked to see an automatic 20% gratuity added, justified by the server because our party consisted of five people. In my opinion, a tip should be earned through excellent service, which was far from the case here. To make matters worse, later that night, I received an email with my credit card receipt showing an additional $20 tip added by the server. When we called to address this, we were told it was a “clerical error.” Overall, the poor service, mediocre sushi, and questionable billing practices made this a highly disappointing experience. We will not be returning.

Cute little place with inviting dining area. I was craving something light and fresh. I started with the seaweed salad, which was great. Not too sweet and on the savory side, that's a plus! The server recommended the lemon special roll. It hit the spot with a hint of refreshing citrus and a tiny kick of spicy tobiko. I love Ikura and it was great! Hats off to the chef for the cutest display of the Ikura. I am a sushi fan and would definitely recommend a stop here.

Omg I loved it!! It was so, so delicious and fresh that I ordered another one!!! I eated the Crazy Roll and the Salmon Baked Roll. My favorite is the Crazy Roll — it has such a unique mix of flavors!!! Today was my first time trying Toroko and I absolutely loved it!!!! I’ll definitely be coming back more often. And the appetizers I ordered Gyozas, the best!!!!!!

First timers at Toro’ko! It was fantastic and filled us up. We started off with some Spicy Edamame which was not too spicy but had great flavor. Then we got three different rolls for our entree. Toro’ko Special Roll, Stone Oak Roll and the Crunchy Roll. Each of them had a distinct flavor. The Stone Oak roll was my favorite because of the fresh Bluefin Tuna on top. Service and ambience were also very nice.

1st Visit: The Salmon baked roll was our favorite! Delicious! We tried also the crunchy roll and the Vegas roll… vegas roll was runner up on favorites. The service was phenomenal and she saved the day making suggestions because the menu is awful. Most sushi restaurants label clearly what’s raw, cooked, fried, spicy, etc. The only label in this menu is fried. The menu was frustrating but the server helped us and everything was delicious! We will be back! Note: No specials at lunch time. Full price menu during lunch, fyi. Most rolls are $15-$20 (As of Dec 2024) 2nd Visit: The vegas was the best! Most flavorful of 4 rolls. Then the crunchy was runner up but the thing about the fried rolls is they’re too large for a single bite and eating a roll in two bites makes it fall apart. Otherwise the crunchy roll is a delicious roll. We tried the mango roll and it was our least favorite.
