Tortas Ahogadas El Rey

Always my go-to and ONLY spot for tortas ahogadas. Salsa and Chile are always on point and 🔥🔥🔥. They use actual bolillo salado. I've tried other places where they just threw in a regular a** bolillo and so it was super soggy. Best tortas in HP👍🏽

These tacos de barbacoa with cheese were super delicious. I also like the tacos de canasta de chicharron.

I ordered to go and was sitting like an idiot, waiting for my order while everyone else that was dining in was getting served! After I got tired of waiting, I got up to ask, and it turns out my order was already packed sitting on the counter but the IDIOT cashier forgot about us, even though he kept passing by our side serving tables! A huge part of customer service is being aware of your surroundings!

Great place for an authentically delicious Mexican birria. Reasonable prices, clean service and just great fresh food all around.

It is hard to find restaurants or street spots that have tacos dorados specially made from Papa or frijoles. This place has not only tacos dorados but they are good! Not greasy, not sawgy but dry and crunchy. Better than Tito's tacos! The price is perfect for what they are. Special of four tacos for $6.99. They come with cabbage and pickled red onion. They also gave me a console, don't know if it comes with it but a big plus if it does. The red salsa is Chile de arbol and warming it's spicy 🔥. The only other thing I would like would be a Chile toreado and some sour cream.

Loved their Chamorro torta ahogada and tacos al vapor, their salsas are on point also, special mention to the Pasilla- morita salsa wow just wow. Excellent service.

I found myself in HP after not visiting in ages. Me and my mom came here for an early lunch and ordered the following: Torta ahogada de carnitas con tacos (I chose papa and requeson) Tacos de canasta mixto Service was prompt and we received our food about 10 minutes after ordering. The torta was bursting with flavor coated in a light salsa that was the perfect amount of spice. The bread, the star of the show, held its crunch and was chewy once drenched in the salsa. I added more of their salsa picante that comes on the side and it complemented it well. The tacos that torta came with were tacos dorados, basic, but delicious. The tacos de canasta were plump and soft. I only tried the chicharron and they were quite tasty. Overall, I may make the trek back if I ever get a craving for another torta. A++

I am from Guadalajara, I grew up eating tortas ahogadas, and I am happy to say that I finally found a spot in USA that has the best tortas besides Jalisco. The bread and salsas were spot on. The tacos dorados were delicious too. The service was great and the place was clean and easy to find. Looking forward to eating here again!

I have yet to find an authentic tasting torta ahogada in the states. Everyone knows the place for tortas ahogadas is Guadalajara Mx. But let me tell you about Tortas Ahogadas El Rey the bolillo (bread) was perfectly crisp and salted. This is a MUST in order to avoid a complete mush of a meal. The carnitas filling was flavorful and great even eaten alone. Now the tomato sauce is the true magic, covering the entire sandwhich in a light but frothed texture. If you are ever in the area stop by for a truly authentic tasting Mexican meal

Pacific is full of Mexican food and this one is amongst my favorite for tacos de canasta and their birria. I recommend going early, especially weekends because the tacos de canasta do run out. The staff has always been friendly and food comes out pretty fast unless it's rush hour then you do wait a little longer. I always call ahead of time. The inside is pretty standard, they do have a small patio area outside and plenty of indoor seating. Family friendly restaurant :)

Carne de jusodo was delicious, the service from the young man in the morning was awesome... I'll definitely be coming back, nice little restaurant.

La verdad toda la comida de tortas el rey esta riquisima las tortas ahogadas son mis favoritas ningun lugar las puedes comparar solo que si se me hacen muy chiquitas pero están deliciosas al igula que los tacos dorados con carnitas tambien no dejen de probar las carnes en su jugo eso me transporta a mi linda perla tapatia que tanto extraño muy recomendado todo

Las Tortas ahogadas no están buenas, siempre que veo un lugar donde venden las pruebo ,, Hasta ahorita las mejores son Chago Tortas ahogadas Lo siento no buena las Carnitas ni la salsa sabe bien No se las recomiendo!

im from Jalisco and the tortas ahogadas,tacos de canastas and tacos dorados are delicious and legit. I'm giving it 3 stars because the cashier infront has an attitude problem. Me and fiancé drove from highland park to get the 30 tacos special and the cashier didn't want to give me that special because she claims you need to make the order one day ahead. I was very upset because of this. It doesn't said in the MENU or ONLINE that you need to order one day ahead to get special price. So I let it go and continue to order. I try to order churros she said they didn't have any but when I was waiting on my my order she gave churros to someone else. I'm asking management or owner to address this problem. So because bad customer service your restaurant getting 3 stars instead of higher score.

Service can be a bit better food is over price for the flavor you get. Not worth it. I remember the lasy selling tacos de canasta out side many years ago.

Every time I was in this area, I and my whole family ate at this place. NO MORE! In a day of 86 degrees of and after drinking galons of water and going to a jewelry store, a couple of establishments away to make a payment (Don Roberto Jewelry, I decided to have lunch at this place. I asked the gentleman at this pace, sweeping what time they close he said 8 o'clock. My answer was great! I have plenty of time to eat. I asked after I stated that I was going to order that if I could use the restroom first, and he replied that first, I had to order. I replied, " I REALLY NEED TO USE THE RESTROOM!" He responded that I had to order first when I was sitting down eating, and I could use the restroom. I said, know what....thank you!! Went to Tacos Mexico across the street, asked for the restroom the same way, and the lady was very accommodating. Had lunch at Tacos Mexico after I used their restroom, not the other way around!! This guy is a young guy without any knowledge about how the body works... When you got to go....you got to go!!!

We had tacos de canasta. Food took too long 15 mins for what already should be ready to serve. They weren't hot, not great. There's limited seating since you have to find some in a crowded ass plaza. Workers didn't seems to want to be there. I mean if the food is going to suck, how about service with a smile.

This place is amazing. They have a delicious burrito "Tapatio" which is my favorite & also los tacos de birria dorados are sooooo good. They give it with a side of cosome which is delicious. My family and I love the service here. Been coming here for years.

We ordered a asada burrito and one taco dorado de birria. We sat and waited patiently. 15 min pass, 20 min pass, until 30 minutes after we payed (confirmed it with the time of the ticket), I asked the cashier if our food was almost ready. He rudely said he will call our name when it is. Then, I answered him and told him that we had waited more than 30 minutes. He responded that we were next. He then gave us the food like 2 min after. The meat on the burrito was overly cook and I had to remind him of our drinks. To be honest, the wait, the attitude and the cook are the reason why this is a one star.

Best torta ahogada in LA with great sauce and nice birote. Carnitas and barbacoa are great meat choices and they pickle their onions. Their extra salsa is worth it if you didn't ask for it hot enough. Small location so it can get long during a rush but it's to be expected with growing locations.

The tacos are really meaty and tasty, it's up beat and the service is fast. On top of that you can't go wrong because you get a deal when you buy 6 tacos. You will eat with less than $10 in here. So if your balling on a budget and want some tasty food, you got to come here !! And if you need to pay with your smart phone they got you here as well..

I first came to this place in 2015 with my girlfriend which is from Guadalajara. Tortas ahogadas and tacos de barbacoa are a typical plate of the region. Coming in the place looks a little run down but very clean. The menu has all the options and some illustrations of the food. I, being from Hidalgo, ordered the tacos de barbacoa thinking that it was going to be either lamb or goat cooked Hidalgo style. Unfortunately they were not that type of barbacoa and even though they were not what I expected, theyre were delicious served with, a side of consome, cooked white onions, a spicy jalapeño, sliced radishes, and lime slices. I also ordered the torta ahogada mixta which is a bolillo bread stuffed with carnitas and buche, covered in a red tomato sauce and served with a side of cured red onions. They bring you a bottle of red spicy sauce and you can put it on your Tortas per your taste. They have fountain soda, horchata, and agua de Jamaica to drink. They're Tortas are what they're known for and they are delicious. I definitely recommend you stop by if you're ever walking down or driving by pacific blvd. In Huntington Park. This location is the one in Huntington Park and not in Plaza Mexico which is in Lynwood. I will be back next time and try their Carnes en su jugo and their tacos de canasta.

walked in to pick up my order after 40 mins just to be told they didn't start the order. had to sit around for another 20 mins for them to cook it...I dont understand the point of pickup if I still have to wait longer after I show up to pick up. as I waited for my order I saw the women pull my torta out of the microwave. if I wanted microwaved food I'd eat a ramen at home! anyway food was good but idk if im coming back

I've only gotten two things every time I've ordered. The barbacoa torta comes with dipping broth. It's got a medium texture sourdough bread that is heavenly once dipped. The other item was the Carne En Su Jugo. I really enjoyed that soup but it was my first time trying it anywhere so I have nothing to compare that to. They deliver! They put everything on the side so nothing comes soggy.

Was walking by and was intrigued by the menu pictures I saw from the window so my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try and let me tell you ...great decision. Service was good and food was amazing the carnitas were so flavorful well everything really. I will definitely come back again and I recommend this pace to everyone.

Tortas tortas tortas tortas and fried tacos De barbacoa la Neta my go to place for authentic Barbacoa and berria. Everything is made fresh daily and the peoples here are great. They got this tortas hoagada with two fried tacos with a drink for like 7 bucks so it's well priced but you get amazing flavors at the same time.

El Monte- love the tortas the price was $7.99 with taxes it was $8.75 for a torta de asada with onion and cilantro with mayo and tomato the bread is good but a little to crunchy the salsa roja was bomb Open from 9am-9pm every day

Tacos al Vapor is my go to. I drive 20 miles for these, great service and affordable prices. Cafe de la hoya is a must, has authentic taste, no sugar or milk needed!

These are pretty good tortas ahogadas even considering that the bolillo isn't like the one from Guadalajara but let me tell you they are very flavorful,the tacos with carnitas exceptional We will definitely return food is really good totally recommend this place if you're in the area .

The tacos de barbacoa dorados are bomb. I tried the tacos de papa, not enough papa, but still tasty. I'm excited to try more things off the menu, now that I finally got one to take back to work. They deliver locally for free, so we're going to be ordering from this place more often. Parking around here is kind of hard to find if you come during a busy time (which on Pacific is all day). We always order to go and get some bottled Mexican Coke or Squirt.

I recently started working in the area and thought I'll ask around in regards to a great taco location. Everyone said this place was guud, and boi-oh-boi were they right!!!!!... Veryyyyyyyyy delicious I can't wait to try some different other than tacos!!!!... Such a authentic taste with the first bite!!!!... This place is a go!!!!!

This place must be the most confusing restaurant in Los Angeles, the food is NOT AUTHENTIC maybe for some one who is not Mexican and can't tell the difference. The food is extremely over priced and all over the place. It was not comfortable to eat with so many flys hovering around our food. I will not be coming back here specially not for the burnt frozen isle flautas since they come soggy with some kind of tomato sauce and taste like if they sat in the fridge for a few days. THINK TWICE BEFORE COMING HERE!
