A go‑to for Jalisco specialties: tortas ahogadas on proper birote, carne en su jugo, and flautas. Regulars praise the authenticity and value, and it’s frequently recommended by Valley diners hunting for Guadalajara‑style comfort food.

Google
Food was delicious. Place is a whole in the wall but sometimes you just have to go on adventure. Had a torta ahogada. It came filled with meat. It was so good I dug right in and forgot to take a pic. Chile Verde sope was huge. Menudo was great too. Birria de chivo was deliciousness. Definitely coming back.... I came back and had the chilaquiles god bless there soles. Loved them. But the can't make sunny side eggs. I won't mark them less because it was deliciousness. Just a language barrier. I tried saying it in Spanish over easy they came. I pointed to the picture over easy they came. Trust me it's worth it. I'll try again soon . The word I know is "estrellados". Don't get upset just eat it. It's delicious 😋 please open up in southern Gilbert. Food is soo good.

Google
Yum Yum Yum – wonderful authentic food from Guadalajara. Huge plate, and fantastic service, a great place to eat and catch up with a friend.

Google
Tacos were really fresh and good. Limited vegetarian options but still very good. The person who brought the order was calling out only in Spanish so we couldn't figure out if it was our food but otherwise the food was really fresh. Never seen a place that can make a hot veg soup in <15 mins and the veg were plenty and fresh. I have a 4 star only because the inside gives you a food court atmosphere.

Google
Call ahead if planning to dine in. This place is the real deal. We are vegetarians and they had plenty of options. The veggie quesadilla was next level and we highly recommend (check photo). I ordered the veggie burrito and was very pleased. Prices seemed high when ordering but you truly get tons of food. I would recommend this place over and over. The only reason I left 4 stars is because we waited 30-40 minutes for our food.

Google
This place is amazing. It’s tucked away inside a Mercado in Plaza del Sol. True family owned operation. Authentic traditional Mexican food lineup. The Tortas are all amazing. I had the burrito Vallarta and it easily feeds two. Al Pastor meat is on point and the chef gets a nice char on the meat. We’ve been here twice and everything was delicious. Give them a try!

Google
Hidden in a small indoor shopping center but worth taking the time to find it! The food was a bit of wait but absolutely outstanding! I got the cheese empanada, rice, and brisket taco. Would come back again!!

Marcela Hernandez

Google
Carne en su jugo is me and my friend's go to for dinner together, a hearty stew of carne asada, potatoes, beans and bacon with it's side of tortillas that I love from them. My family also loves their beans and sopes.

Yelp
First time back after 10 years for another Torta lunch with my 2 sons. From Seattle and this place delivers! Love the Tortas.! :)

Yelp
Customer service is a little rough - not super attentive. The food was good - I got a torta de milanesa, it had 2 pieces of breaded steak and the ingredients were fresh. I also got a crispy potato taco and it was a little small so if you get them - I recommend getting 2-3 tacos but you can tell they are homemade. I was happy with both items.

Yelp
Found this gem while looking for tacos and decided to give it a try. As others mentioned it's a little confusing trying to find the place, but just let your nose guide you inside It's like you stepped into a restaurant in Mexico with the workers busy, yelling out orders, smells of fresh food coming in the back and can't wait to order "everything". Didn't take me long to order once I made up my mind (10 minutes lol) but I finally settled on tacos, happy burrito and green chile burrito (yes it's a lot of food, but hey I wanted more than that and had to settle on these to give a fair review) Friendly staff, clean surroundings, great options to choose from the salsa / fixins bar. Even if you're not in the neighborhood give them a try and see for yourself how good they are

Yelp
A hidden gem inside the Mercado! They have a plain variety of different stores that service, cash, checking, bicycles, a flower store, cell phone stores, natural, herbal medicines, sports uniforms, and a salon. There's also a jewelry store. They have a graphic design store here as well. It's almost like a little mini mall. But the highlight of everything is the restaurant! They serve some of the best authentic tacos in Chandler. This is definitely a hidden gem and one of my favorite places to take friends and family. It's located off **Arizona Arizona Avenue tucked away in the corner so it's kind of a hard spot to find, but there's plenty of parking available. If you're in the mood for authentic Mexican food, I would definitely stop by! The Torta Milanesa is my absolute favorite! The Pozole and Camaron soup is delicious. Tuesdays, they offer the special tacos de Carne Asada !!! Support local!!

Yelp
Still the best! Can't get enough. I could eat here everyday! Have to get to 85 characters to post this update. Made it!

Yelp
I've had my eye on this place for a few years now and I finally went to try it and I am so glad I did! Originally, I wanted to try their torta milanesa (breaded beef) but when I asked which is better between the milanesa or carne asada, the lady at the register said carne asada. Omg, if you haven't tried their torta yet, it's a must! It was so flavorful!!! The carne asada was perfectly seasoned and tender. Wasn't dry at all. The chunks of avocado were fresh and bright, lettuce was crunchy, and the grilled onions were soft and sweet. There was a thin layer of refried beans in there too. I usually don't eat beans and didn't know that was going to be in there but it actually went well with everything else! Top it with some red/green sauce from the sauce bar. Honestly, it didn't really need any sauce but I love food saucy and spicy (the sauces weren't spicy at all though). The torta was pretty big. I saved the other half for later. It's located inside of a market. You'll see it as soon as you walk in. Plenty of tables if you want to eat there. Service was great. Friendly workers and friendly people inside too. I will definitely be back again to try the milanesa next time!

Yelp
I was confused about the entrance of this restaurant but when entering the mercado, there it was. It felt like a hole in the wall. I tried the Happy Burrito for breakfast, which was filled with steak, chilaquiles with green sauce, beans, and cheese. The burrito was quite large, and the tortilla was notably soft. There is a salsa bar as well. One thing I missed was eggs in the burrito, which I thought would be standard for a breakfast item. Nevertheless, the meal was satisfying, and I'm curious about the other dishes they offer!

Yelp
Authentic Guadalajara style sandwich artisan style roll stuffed with carnitas and drowned in savory tomato sauce. Salsa bar with pickled red onions, jalapeños, radishes shredded lettuce limes. Everything was delicious and the portion was generous. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant ambiance had an authentic feeling of being in Mexico.
google avatar

Erick D.

Yelp
Sort of a confusing place because it's tucked in a shopping area. We heard this place is great from friends and it was. I got a beef torta and it was a darn good sandwich. While we were waiting we realized that we were the only non Hispanic people in the place. I'm a firm believer if the folks of that cuisine eat there it's going to be good. The salsas had great flavors and weren't too spicy. The portions are generous.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great and the food was very delicious. I recommend this spot for sure. I had the torta and a taco. Super good
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Y'all, I've been coming here for 7 years. I bring everyone here. This is my favorite spot for delicious tacos! I have never had one thing here I didn't like. I love getting a side of barbacoa to go so I can snack on it at home. I get the tacos mostly as of late because I'm usually out running errands but I bring everyone I know here when I can. Maria and Alvaro are some of my favorite people. The place can be a little busy and a little loud sometimes because of the shops inside the building too but that doesn't take away from the quality of the food or the service.

Yelp
Finally found some authentic Mexican food! Truly a hidden gem in Chandler. We came on a Saturday night and there were a few folks eating but it wasn't busy at all. It was super easy to order, the menu is expansive. My husband had the Cubano Torta and I had the Vallarta burrito. This burrito was as big as my forearm, no exaggeration. Filled with three types of meat, potatoes, avocado, and cheese, I could barely eat a quarter of it. It was massive. This spot is located in a small plaza with lots of other businesses. It was like taking a step into Mexico. Lovely staff, great food, and a truly authentic experience. We will be back!
google avatar

Armando M.

Yelp
Wow!!!! Typically like to keep these little gems to myself. But, this place is legit. True authentic Mexican food. It's in an indoor mini-mart. So you know it's bomb! I ordered the cubana torta (under $9 bucks) It hit all levels of my childhood growing up in La Puente, Ca. As you're ordering your food, you have a woman making fresh tortillas. Gotta come back for tacos :-) Side note: menu prices are cheap. Anytime you can get a Carne asada torta under $8 bucks. #winning
google avatar

Jariel S.

Yelp
AMAZING FOOD. Tbh at first I was a little hesitant to try but my childhood friend BEGGED me to go and I agreed. Thank god for her because that was DELICIOUS. I try to keep my judgements to a minimum and not be too harsh but no need because not only did I love the food I went in for seconds and ordered more! The service was good and actually pretty fast‼ the staff was kind and welcoming. I for sure will come back ASAP when I'm craving their delicious Tortas.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
We love this place with friendly & welcoming staff to make your meal like your eating at home with no cleaning up chore. We stopped for an afternoon snack and enjoyed chatting and living a good life.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
I havent been in the area long, but finding a decent Mexican restaurant has been a challenge...until today. Tortas Ahogados came up on yelp & one of the first pics was of the ever illusive Torta Cubano. Few places make this & even fewer make it well. It looks great & tastes even better here. I will definitely be back to work my way down the menu. The torta is big, so some folks will want to share, but its a big menu, so you'll find something you love...
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
4 stars for food & service! The ambiance is nothing to enjoy (much like a food court), but reminds me of something you might find in Mexico.

Brea M.

Yelp
This place is So delicious. For me and my family was really comfortable eating here and enjoyed everything. Nice service too
google avatar

Jaime L.

Yelp
Saw a tik tok about the tortas had to go try them. Was pretty good will go back and try other food on menu.

Blanca C.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food. Staff extremely personable and welcoming. My favorite dishes are the green chile burritos, carne en su jugo, surf and turf burrito. Great place.
google avatar

Hannah P.

Yelp
This Mexican restaurant in the valley is a hidden gem! Their carne asada torta was amazing, bursting with flavor. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere, nestled among small stores, a cool vibe. Definitely the best in town!
google avatar

Omari D.

Yelp
Still great!! Mexican comfort food as I visit frequently when I need a change up. The staff is always friendly and given that my Spanish is pretty weak, they still make me feel at home when I come thru. I sometimes want to stand at the register as they prepare food just to watch as it reminds me of several other home-style kitchens with my friends. This last time around, we had the Torta Cubana, Torta de Pierna (Shredded port, avocado & sour cream) & some al pastor tacos. All so good... We got greedy when ordering but managed to finish all but half of the Pierna Torta. Everything was good as expected. Remember, this isn't fast food as it's prepared once ordered but it's not a long wait. This place stays in my rotation.
google avatar

Connie M.

Yelp
Didn't know if we came to the right place. It's a little mini strip mall area. They have a few stores and then a food court area with sit down tables. Food is made as you order, so good! We ordered all the tacos with flour tortillas. You do have to put your own toppings. The tacos came with nothing but the meat on the tortilla. There is a condiment bar area. Red sauce is spicy! Love it! Carne asada tacos - 3 good but same as any Tripas tacos - 5 crispy Pastor taco - 5 juicy & flavorful Torta cubana - 4 did not disappoint, must try

Yelp
Placed order for pick up at as told com by 15-20 minutes, arrived 20 minutes later they hadn't even started the order. Prefer going for breakfast.
google avatar

Freeman C.

Yelp
Authentic delicious and fresh Mexican food and a charming environment. A few of my Hispanic friends say it's very authentic.
google avatar

Gabe F.

Yelp
Heard of this place from a co-worker went in to grab a steak burrito. Meat was dry and the burrito was small I paid almost 15.00 for it and the Spanish rice comes with peas? What is this fried rice? I'm coming from San Francisco where the burritos come with sour cream and guacamole for like 12.00 bucks. Lady who took my order was nice that's why I'm giving 2 stars.
google avatar

Sandra V.

Yelp
The Carne en su Jugo is *chef's kiss* Tortas are also amazing, get the Ahogada if you're eating there, Cubana holds up well to go.

daysic s.

Yelp
La torta de pierna está deliciosa. El sabor y el tamaño por el precio están súper bien. Ya es de mis lugares más frecuentados. El caldo de res también súper recomendado y los tacos de carnitas y buche ni se diga.
google avatar

Royal D.

Yelp
This is the most authentic Mexican food in all of Mexico not to mention AZ. The portion in my shrimp taco of tremendous Giant Shrimp was no less than 7. I don't even know how they afford to sell these shrimp for the price point. We also had a shrimp asada and pork burrito that was the size of two giant yule time Logs! I will return to you sweet and most affordable mistress of mi gullet.
google avatar

Frank A.

Yelp
Happy Burrito equals Happy Customer! I've eaten here several times, but my go-to is the "Happy Burrito". It's basically a burrito with carne asada, chilaquiles, beans and cheese. Make sure you're hungry too - I'm a big guy and I can barely finish this burrito. Not only is this burrito delicious, but they also add some chilaquiles, avocado, onions and lettuce on the side. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Enjoy!
google avatar

Tyler C.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem! I had a hard time finding it, because it's inside what feels like used to be an old motel in the 60's, but I'm glad I was persistent and found it! This was my introduction to a torta ahogada, so I don't have much to compare it with, but I loved it! For those of us who don't speak Spanish, torta ahogada translates to a drowned sandwich. So it's a sandwich just completely doused in a delicious tomato based sauce. The meat was so tasty and tender. Definitely will make it back here to try some other stuff.

Yelp
Wow this place takes me to Mexico! We were confused at first when we arrived, not knowing where this restaurant was actually located. We parked out in the front and headed inside. The inside contains several different mom and pop shops and the seating for the restaurant is located right in the middle. It was starting to get busy when we arrived and there were several other people waiting for their orders. The cashier was friendly and menu is pretty distinctive. I ended up ordering two grilled chicken tacos, one potato taco, and a bowl of menudo with chips. My friend ordered the milanesa torta with a potato taco, and my other friend tried four different tacos. (Buche, carnitas, lengua, tripas) My chicken tacos were decent. The chicken had no flavor though so I found myself pouring salt on them. The menudo was good and it definitely tasted homemade. My friends milanesa was delicious!! My other friend also raged that her tacos were good and that every meat was perfectly seasoned. The potato tacos were a no for us and they got soggy super fast. The outside shell is crunchy but they are then drenched in a red salsa, sour cream, and cheese. Definitely wasn't for us. The service from the servers was ehhhh not that great. The tables are old and wonky. We sat at a table that barely had any room to be able to move around. A ton of tables were dirty and so that made choosing a table difficult because the ones that were left, were crappy. By no means is this place fancy. The food is good though and prices are reasonable! I will have to be back for the milanesa!!
google avatar

Blanca B.

Yelp
If you have a big appetite and love delicious Mexican food, come here! My burrito weighed almost 2lbs! Huge and every bite was delicious. My husband got the Cubana torta but he wanted to dig in I didn't get a pic! But it's one of the favorites there! Talking to a regular in line found out the tortas ahogadas are fire too! Guy that took my order was super cool. Friendly staff inside of a indoor plaza type spot. Must try closest to Cali Mexican food so far!

Yelp
Tortas Ahogadas Guadalajara is a small family run, Mom & Pop fast Mexican place, located inside a tiny retail space along Arizona Blvd. Our office group hit this place last week during the HS lunch period. LOL. Yep I know, pretty dumb, huh? Tortas Ahogadas serves up some pretty great tasting Mexican faire and we just stood back and watched as the kids cleared out. This little retail space has various shops but the best part are the Mexican Soaps playing on the TV. Nice. We found it to be a fun emersion experience, without ever leaving Phoenix. The food is tasty, authentic and we just loved it. Today, we stayed with Tacos and Burritos, with a few extra off the menu. One of them, is this tasty potato filled tort, which we had for dessert. Our coworker ordered everything in Spanish and it was even nicer, that it was his turn to pick up the bill. LOL It's just down the street from Elmer's, another Chandler HS food institute and must if you are in the area. Expect to pay less then ten bucks, including a soft drink. Enjoy!
google avatar

J M.

Yelp
Small family run establishment with fresh made tortillas and sabrosa comida. We had tacos the gringas and standard street fair. The quesadilla asada was also tasty. Generous portions were also standard fare.
google avatar

Gabriela R.

Yelp
Delicious tortas Ahogadas reminds me of my mother's hometown in Guadalajara, tlaquepaque! Keep ip the amazing cuisine you guys!! They are delicious!
google avatar

Julian A.

Yelp
This place is great . Good home style Mexican food . The place itself is a little hard to find but well worth the search .
google avatar

Cassie P.

Yelp
Seems like most of the locals come here as I noticed many of them already knew what they wanted to order. My friend who used to live in Chandler brought me here. It's basically a small casual Mexican spot inside a mini mall. The menu has a lot of different options so depending on what you're craving they probably will have it. I ended up going with just 3 carne asada tacos with a side of beans and rice. Simple and basic. They have a salsa bar including different topics you can add to your meal such as cilantro, jalapeño, onions, and radish. I noticed that the cooks were homemaking fresh corn tortillas so I was excited to eat, and you can really taste the difference! Each taco had enough meat enough to make two tacos so that's something to keep in mind. The rice and beans were delicious and the beans came with chips. My friend got a side of guacamole that came with chips however I wish they included more chips with both beans and guacamole. This is a great spot to visit if you want a really good Mexican fix! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Food was great. Small portions for the buck. However it did have great taste. Service was good. Atmosphere was good, not too baby people

Giselle H.

Yelp
Pedi tacos dorados con todo: papa, carnitas, crema, y queso. Esto fue lo que recibi. Cuando llame para dejarles saber me dijieron que no podia hacer nada para arreglar su error.

Melissa A.

Yelp
Delicious food, great variety. Will be back soon. They were quick too, although when we went it was later they n the evening.
google avatar

Johanna L.

Yelp
The customer service was great! I really liked how the restaurant was inside a Mercado. Like a small market with other small stores around it. Anyways, I wasn't very impressed with the food, I had a Torta Ahogada, the bread was way too hard, I wish they would use a different style of bread. I've had Tortas Ahogadas before and I prefer a softer bread. I also had Tacos al Pastor and those were really good.
google avatar

Darron N.

Yelp
Very good food, the atmosphere could be improved and it would be nice to have more menus to look at while waiting.
google avatar

Yelp
We ate here last night before a show at Chandler Center for the Arts. I had two fish tacos and my boyfriend had a torta Cubana. Oh my goodness, where to start!?! As soon as we finished eating and were making our way to the show, John said "that was so good that I could eat another one right now"! My fish tacos were so big that I opted to eat them with a fork rather than try to pick up with my hands. They came with rice on the side which I wasn't expecting. The torta was huge. It was messy and was literally dripping with goodness. He was silent for a bit so I thought I should check in and see how it was tasting. He nodded enthusiastically in return. This place is located in a small market with several other businesses, such as a hair salon, and dress boutique. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Misz N.

Yelp
Was super excited about this place based on others reviews - my thoughts? I wasn't blown away, it was just all right but that's not to say it wasn't good food. Would have given this place 3 stars if it were not for the kind lady servers. Here's the deal.. The spot is inside of a mini swap meet mall with a few other businesses, very unassuming but it adds to the experience. Coming from Phoenix/Scottsdale, I found it far especially for some tacos. We ordered the following: cabeza, lengua, tripa, barbacoa and pescado tacos; as well as the chiles rellenos with beans and rice. The cabeza and lengua was perfectly moist and delicious, the tripa was crispy - it threw me for a loop, and the pescado was pretty basic as was the chiles rellenos. Based on reviews, I thought the food would be served with a side of magic but I found the seasoning to be slightly lacking. Maybe I needed to try something different?
google avatar

Herman M.

Yelp
Had a torta milanesa, and i really enjoyed it, great taste, and a big torta for the price. I always say i am going to try something else when i come here but always get the torta. Great service too, dinner time can be busy but the wait is never too long
google avatar

Chevon D.

Yelp
was excited about the reviews and finally getting a torta ahogada. Absolutely disappointed, the torta was totally bland. Had a tripa taco (ok) and barbacoa taco (not good) seems like they "marinated it" in the same sauce as the torta for almost $3 each small taco, no. not worth it! back to my quest for a good torta ahogada and good Mexico eats in Phoenix
google avatar

Cyn C.

Yelp
I always come here when I visit AZ from CA and the tacos are decent. However, this last time around the meat was a bit dry and we were disappointed. It was the carnitas in the burrito and the tacos. However, the staff was friendly so there's that.
google avatar

Yelp
The best Mexican food in LA I tried the pozole it was excelente
