"Tortilla Flats, a restaurant established in 1983 in the far West Village, was a prominent example of a new breed of theme restaurants in the 1980s. The venue took a playful attitude toward Tex-Mex cuisine and was decked out with kitschy décor, including tiny colored lights, pictures of Elvis, and tinsel. It served giant dinners on pastel Fiestaware plates and was known for its insouciant waitstaff who paid special attention to families. The menu featured Tex-Mex dishes like chili con queso, tortilla soup, chimichangas, chicken mole enchiladas, and cheese enchiladas in chili gravy. Tortilla Flats became a community hub, offering game nights and affordable meals, before ultimately closing due to changing neighborhood dynamics." - Robert Sietsema

Monday night bingo! Came for a drink and chips and stayed for the bingo night. Crazy fun decor to get you in the mood for some tequila! The service was great- Chris I think waited on us. The chips were thick and crispy- exactly what I wanted for my guac and salsa. The margaritas are typically sweet so I opted for a skinny which came out perfect. Will be back for bingo again. And for the glittered art pieces.

I liked the food very much, from the home made tortilla chips to the dishes - chimichangas and a taco al pastor which comes out as a plate and you may wrap tacos yourself, if you want. We were seated outside. Inside there was the most loudest party I ever heard probably watching a sport game. So I did not have a chance to admire their decor which is quiet something!!!!

That's crazy, loud, crowded and colofrul place, ideal for groups (if you want to make a party, reservation is a need). A romantic date wouldn't be a success here :) Food was well seasoned and the portions were really big (note the tortilla soup full of avocado and meat).

Nice place, I had quesadillas and guacamole which is $12 alone, it was very good but could be cheaper. The chicken in quesadilla wasn’t fresh, but I was hungry so ate it! Staff very nice .

I am a bit obsessed with Mexican food. This food is decent and does the trick. It isn't exactly the nicest place in New York, but that's not why you go. You go for a decent dinner served in a super fun and engaging restaurant with bingo night, trivia, and limited outdoor seating. It's fun and kitschy.

This place for me is more about atmosphere and drinks than about high quality Mexican food - and that's okay. Their margaritas are tasty and pack a nice punch. Complimentary chips and salsa are good - salsa has a touch of spice, which is nice. Their enchiladas were solid - nothing especially extraordinary. The decor is fun - no area of the restaurant it seems is without some piece of decoration.

This place is cute. The food is pretty great for what it is. It's fun to be in a restaurant during trivia which added fun to the whole atmosphere and a bit of competitiveness into the air. Made new friends since everyone becomes so comfortable shouting out during trivia. Not a pretentious place which is inviting. Love the virgin mary piece in the front it's gorgeous.

This was the first place I have ever been in NY many years ago. The atmosphere is just as bonkers as the people but welcoming. A tad pricey but considering where it is, makes since. Love birthday celebrations there but that's because I love me some free tequila shots. I adore any place that has a margarita machine like theirs. Nice place!
