"Omar Garcia grew up in Michoacan, Mexico, watching his mother and grandmother grind corn from the family farm to make masa for tortillas. He continues the practice, making dough without flour or chemical preservatives, at his three Cincinnati-area locations of Tortilleria Garcia. The tortilla is the star, serving as a vehicle for carnitas, pollo, carne asada, and al pastor tacos. The menu also includes tamales, burritos, and rotisserie chicken. There are family dinner packs, tortillas, and masa available to purchase as well." - Andy Brownfield

Quick service but fresh food and very clean. Went on Tuesdays for taco Tuesday! They have tacos for $1.25 each on Tuesdays and you can pick from chicken steak pork or pork and pineapple. If you get everything on them it comes with cheese a cabbage blend crema pico and Cilantro. They were very delicious and filling! I ordered 2 chicken and 2 steak😋😋

Google
This is not even Chipotle quality. My steak burrito had 2 pieces of steak. The street tacos were dry and flavorless.

Google
Probably the most authentic Mexican food I've had in Cincinnati. I got the taco combo platter with Al pastor and steak tacos and both were delicious. Definitely coming back here when I'm craving Mexican next!

Usually love this place. Today went in for my usual order a burrito. They have a special on Fridays where you get free chips and a drink with burrito orders. Cool. I don't usually like their chips because they are generally on the stale side but they were free. I went to pick up my order and requested extra salsa on the side which I always do because I like a lot of salsa with my burrito. I was told salsa is extra and I needed to pay for it. Which was strange because every time I have eaten there this has never been the case. In the past, I have explicitly asked while ordering my meal for salsa on the side and have been told to just to ask for it at pickup no charge. So obviously I'm confused and ask if this is a new policy. It seems like the free chips the meal came with made me have to pay for extra salsa for my burrito. I have never interacted with the worker who informed me of this before and I honestly hope to never have to again. He rolled his eyes and was really dismissive about all of my questions. There was an undercurrent of an implication that I was trying to knowingly get free salsa when I wasn't entitled to it. Which maybe is because he's had to have this conversation several times today? Idk, but this partnered with my order being wrong the last two times I have ordered from here may be it for me.

Google
This is my favorite Mexican street taco place. It’s authentic, cheap, and taste great. They have a taco Tuesday deal that includes a great chunk of their tacos. Their horchata is the best. They had a ton of parking.

Steve Greene

Google
Absolutely amazing locally owned food joint! Huge burritos, delicious ingredients, great prices and smiling faces ☺️ plenty of parking behind, lots of seating both inside and out, and seamless checkout. Eat there or grab it to go like I do and take it next door to Brink Brewing to pair with the dark Mexican lager 🤤 When I stop by on Mondays after run club, They set some chicken aside for me from the burrito so I have something to take back to the dogglins and I appreciate that so much!

After a few good Mexican meals in the last 12 months, I am starting to look for Mexican restaurants when I go to a new place. So far I have to save the good ones are hard to find. This one was highly rated and close to where I was. It was a pretty busy place with a line of 10 people at noon. Very quick ordering service and I took the combo plate with fish taco. After I picked my plate and sat in the next room, a very clean area, I realized I might order the wrong stuff because it didn't look that tasty, which was true. The fish taco and the rest of the plate were bland, I should try something else. The exotic ice creams in the freezer could be my love.

Google
Very solid taco place, and I’m so glad to have a spot like this in college hill. I love their corn tortillas, and the portion sizes are solid. When I get their taco platter (2 tacos, rice, and refried beans) I always have left overs (i forgot to get a pic of my food before I started eating lol). I love sitting outside when the weather permits because the patio is so cute. Sometimes I feel like the inside could be a bit cleaner but overall is a cleanly place.

Yelp
Finally found authentic Mexican Food in Cincinnati. This place has carnitas and great chicken. You order at the front and they fill your burrito with any of the many selections. It's not fancy but it's delicious. You can also order a family meal to go which I did. Your choice of meat, 2 sides and an ample stack of their homemade tortillas. I did and had several meals from it! They have seating inside and 2 tables outside but it's self serve & no alcohol. You can pick it up and take it home if you like.

Eileen V.

Yelp
This was the food truck. Two tacos, $4 each. Waste of money for me, I threw it away. Dry, uninteresting, I asked for a drizzle of queso on top and was told I had to buy a $4 container. Nope. Waited forever in line, wish I wouldn't have.

Yelp
We've been regulars here since this location opened. Just stopped by tonight to grab tacos for their taco Tuesday deal. Everything here is delicious, there are no wrong choices. Staff are super friendly and service is quick, even when they are busy! Will continue to recommend!

Yelp
I went out walking during our huge snow emergency today (4 inches of snow and still falling) and was amazed to find that Tortilleria Garcia was open -- they do advertise that they're open daily, but this seemed to be taking it a little far. But I appreciated walking into the warm friendly restaurant after braving the 24-degree weather and stinging snow. You walk in to see the ordering station right in front of you, with the selections printed above the window. I immediately got waited on, and he was friendly and helpful every step of the way. I kept it simple, ordering 2 tacos. The first room is just the ordering window and assembly station/kitchen, but when you walk back you see a small but pleasant restaurant area. The bathrooms are back there, and need a 4-letter code for access (though it took 3-4 tries until the door accepted the code). As for the tacos -- they were pretty good. They advertise that they make the corn tortillas in-house, and it does make a difference in the taste. The pork taco was a little dry, but it had good flavor. The shrimp taco was well cooked. Overall, a small intimate, friendly restaurant with decent food -- a good place to dash in on a cold and snowy day to for a decent taste of Mexican street food.

Yelp
Always looking for new burrito joints... one of my favorite foods, especially with fresh ingredients. Saw this place on the way to visit family and decided that we would check it out for dinner tonight. Enjoyed the burrito, and the folks were very friendly. Liked that they had some choices of beer and pre-made margaritas, though the my were a little light on the tequila. My only real complaint was how noisy the back room is (the table area for eating in). Though there was only one other family there, the sounds bounced off the walls and were amplified. A nice place to grab some good food in a hurry but I think that next time we either will sit outside on the patio between this restaurant and the next one or get takeaway.

Erin E.

Yelp
This place never disappoints! You order at the counter and can take it back to their small dining area. My friends and I also love to take it to-go and eat at the brewery nearby. Today we tried the margaritas- which I didn't know they had- and they were a hit! I got the taco platter with all the toppings and rice and beans. These are some of my favorite rice and beans in the city. The staff is friendly and service is quick! Taco Tuesday is an awesome deal - so come then!

Donne S.

Yelp
Came here for the Taco Tuesday specials. As always tasty and fresh. There was a line but they were able to get us through pretty quickly after ordering.

Ben T.

Yelp
Tortilleria Garcia is a small, modest restaurant which can be classified as a "Hidden Gem". Originally, I had visited this place several years ago, and really did not think much of it. However, after visiting this place in March, I was hooked! I could not get enough of the Steak Tacos with all the toppings. I loved the way they assemble the food in front of you, so you can see what is going in where. I also love the variety of what they offer: (Frozen Latin treats, drinks, cakes and Flan...which I desperately want to try). I can go in, place my order to one of the friendly cashiers, and in a few minutes, I'm walking out with a taco lunch or dinner. The specials seem really great too, although, I've only had one. If you ever have a chance to try their burrito special on Friday, do so! If Tortilleria Garcia is so good, why did I rate it 4 stars? The answer is consistency -- depending on who assembles your food. There were times when I would have tacos with a decent amount of meat and toppings. There were also times when I barely had any meat or toppings in my taco. Nevertheless, the food is pretty decent, and the staff's friendliness make it a great place to visit. I would encourage anyone who loves Latin food to try this restaurant. It will be worth your while.

Mark C.

Yelp
Got take out of al pastor nachos, with everything...(drinking at Brink Brewery next door). ABSOLUTELY fantastic. Wife and I split the order and it was PLENTY! A side of spicy cucumber salad to top it off. Ordered and had it in less than 5 minutes. In the area...check it out

Ginny R.

Yelp
If you are super hungry get the nachos, it is a heavy plate of everything! Tacos are $1.25 on Tuesday and big. Definitely a lot of bang for your buck here.

Rachel I.

Yelp
I go to this place every Taco Tuesday, and I am always satisfied with their service! They really know what they're doing. Since it gets busy on Tuesday, they want to get you in and out, and I can tell they've been doing this for awhile. Note that Taco Tuesday used to be $1.00 each, but they are increasing it to $1.25. For the tacos you get, I think it is still an incredible deal and will continue to go. I always get the chicken and/or carnitas tacos, as I feel that those are the tenderest meats they have and could eat a whole plate of carnitas tacos. They also have a vegetarian option available that includes rice and beans! Their chips and guac/queso is also a good addition to add to the meal. The dining area can get packed since it's a little small - but they keep it well kept. There's always area outside to eat too if the weather permits. This is a must go to :)

Katherine D.

Yelp
I can't believe I never reviewed this place. I've been to this particular location more than I can remember, to eat and to carry out and I love it. The restaurant it self is very clean and tidy, staff is welcoming and friendly. It's good to mention that when you eat in there you order up front and wait for your food in line so you can take it back to a table. Their tacos are the best, their tortillas are probably my favorite, along with their mild salsa or green salsa. Not a fan of their rice but it's good either way. I've also tried their chicken and is well cooked and very flavorful Definitely love their taco Tuesday! Every taco is a dollar and they are smaller than your regular taco but for sure worth the price. Must check them out!

Yelp
We were in the mood for tacos and my daughter recommended this place as she had it before and said it was good. This is a place I have been wanting to try but always forget about it. I won't forget anymore after trying these tacos. I ordered the chicken tacos everything on it with a corn shell. Salsa, sour cream, pico, lettuce, cheese and they were really tasty. I felt as if I was in Mexico literally it truly had a authentic Mexican taste. I didn't care for the corn tortilla so I used a fork and ate it like a bowl. I actually am excited to go back to actually get a really bowl with rice included. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. I ordered a lime margarita and it was very good and refreshing. I tried my daughter steak tacos with a flour tortilla and they were really good also. They have a taco Tuesday where the tacos are dollar so I will surely be making this my new taco place. They ample amount of seating and even a outdoor space which I loved. It's set up like a chipotle feel but it's way better in my opinion.. Check them out!!

Nick L.

Yelp
Mexican spot with amazing tacos! Very reasonably priced menu with counter service and a small dining room. I usually get food to-go when visiting Brink Brewing next door. They do their own homemade tortillas daily and it shows. Their Queso dip is also not to be missed.

Erica P.

Yelp
THE BEST tacos in Cincy! The most authentic and fresh I have come to find! The service is amazing and the food is incredible.

April B.

Yelp
We've dined in a few times but it had been a while. We were hosting friends old friends we don't see often enough and we all agreed we wanted a laid back, relaxing night, eating, drinking, and catching up. I called in the afternoon to place a pick up order for later in the day. The young man who took my order was so helpful with suggestions from the catering menu. I settled on #2 with two meats, sides, and a large tray of chips with quac, queso and allll the salsas! I don't do too spicy but friends agrees that the spicy was, in fact, spicy! Everyone loved dinner. Portions were perfect for 10-12 with varying appetites and we all agreed we ate too much but couldn't help ourselves, it's so good. And we still had leftovers for the next day! Dining in or carry out, you can't go wrong here!

Steve L.

Yelp
OMG is this place delicious! I just experienced their catering at a Hispanic Chamber of Cincinnati Volunteer Day in Price Hill. The food was absolutely delicious and so freshly cooked. I live near Mason and saw there was a location there so I will definitely be visiting that one but GREAT JOB everyone!!

Jason C.

Yelp
We stopped here as a family group of 6. We went straight to the counter area to order. The staff was friendly and offered suggestions. One guy behind the counter asked how our day was going and engaged us in conversation. The food menu is above the counter and offers a variety of great items. Their corn tortillas are handmade daily and are fresh and delicious!! I ordered the nachos Al pastor (pork and pineapple) and they pile the ingredients! The view is appetizing and gets you ready to dig in. The pork was cooked perfectly and the chips were nice and crunchy. They offer salsa if you would like to spice it up and if you're a fan of that I would recommend their hot salsa which gave my meal a perfect kick. Everyone enjoyed their food immensely. Don't miss out on the homemade Horchata and if you order a large be prepared to take it home or share. The ambience is very colorful and trendy. There are a few TVs around if you want to catch a game while you eat. Don't miss the "out of this world" mural on the neighboring building (great photo op). Highly recommend and we will be back!

Laura T.

Yelp
Great tacos! The tortillas are worth it! If you want tacos this is the place to go. Nothing fancy, just your basic taco selections. Toritlas are handmade and you can tell the dofference. I can't wait to come back and try the nachos.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Best selection Meccan food prepared thoughtfully and with a huge variety of ingredients. Expensive compared to most Mexican restaurants.

Grace R.

Yelp
So freaking good! The guac and chips and delicious. My favorite was the carnitas tacos they are so flavorful and my mouth was watering for more. The Barbacoa wasn't my favorite but still great! Will 100% be back

Nhat Ha T.

Yelp
Tortilleria Garcia is so good, fast, and easy to order. They are set up similarly to Chipotle so you order what you want and then pick the toppings, sides, drinks, and dessert (get dessert). Staff are friendly and will help you. I wanted a non-alcoholic limearita and one of the staff was able to get me one. We ordered the beef tamales which were flavorful, not too hot, and soft. The nachos were a large portion and I could have easily shared them. The best thing we got was their chocolate cake which was rice, moist, and very chocolatey. You can walk in from the front or back. There is plenty of seating in the back or outside in between the buildings. There is also a restroom you can use right in the middle of the restaurant in their short hallway.

Jason H.

Yelp
I visit the college hill location regularly and I'm never disappointed. The food here is great and I recommend it to everyone.

Brittney W.

Yelp
My favorite taco place in Cincinnati. It's authentic and the food is bursting with flavor. It's like a party in your mouth. The service is kind and quick. The place is clean and well cared for. Highly recommend.

Elaine U.

Yelp
Tortierilla Garcia is always a great catering choice. Everyone loved the food at our party today and they came on time and the food was hot and delicious. Very reasonable and nice people. I recommended with five stars.

Katarina S.

Yelp
I come here for tacos on Wednesdays with coworkers. Al pastor are so juicy and delicious! They never skimp on meat. Some other fillings tend to be a bit dry like the chicken and chorizo but nothing lime can't fix.

Casey M.

Yelp
Tacos were fresh but bland. Tamales, queso and guacamole were good. Service wasn't good, they would've forgot my Horchata(yummy) and desserts if I didn't ask. Flan was good, but tres leches cake had moldy strawberries on it and tasted bad. This was a carry-out order.

Rusty H.

Yelp
I went here before trivia at Brink brewing (next door) and I didn't realize that they had a $1 taco Tuesday deal! The tacos are traditional street taco style. They are served up quickly and everything is incredibly fresh. Their guacamole is one of the best in the city and I know I will be back again soon!

Thomas W.

Yelp
Yes best homemade tacos in the city!! They also make their own tortillas chips!! Not forgetting the portions are enough for two

Carlitos G.

Yelp
My last review of this place was pre-COVID and they were amazing back then. Now, they are still serving up truly fantastic options. It is delicious, authentic, fresh, and always fills up the craving for tacos without breaking the bank. If you haven't yet been, I recommend going on Taco Tuesday. They do $1 tacos. Mind you, the tacos are smaller than their regular price tacos, but they are worth it. You can try all of their options with just $5. There is usually a line, but trust me, it is worth it. Since the heat is still going here, also get a ice cold popsicle or dessert from their freezer/fridge right next to the cashier. Love this place!

Alberto A.

Yelp
Came to Cincy to visit some dear friends and was taken to this place as I was told its actually good Mexican food, like home (we're from LA). Yes, this is actually good Mexican food and yes, I believe this would survive the thriving Mexican food scene of California. The beans and rice felt very traditional and home made in their styling. The meat I had was well cooked, though it could have used some citrus but that is more of a preference. Highly recommend.

Rodney S.

Yelp
Best salsa, corn tortillas and masa for my tamales! Food is great as well. Customer service is wonderful and very clean.

Ingrid P.

Yelp
Clean eating space. Very good food and service. I cone her for a quick hot meal atleast 1 a week

Aditi R.

Yelp
Loved this place! These were easily some of the tastiest Tacos I've had in Cincy. This place is based out in College hill, which a couple miles in from Northside. There's parking in the back. As you enter the main entrance, you have to order, and then grab your seat. A friend and I went in on Tuesday for their $1 Tacos. We had one of each, and it was amazing! We paired it with their drink options. Though all of them were diluted because of the watered down ice, some were still good. I enjoyed the Pineapple and Watermelon one. The Hibiscus one wasn't really my thing. Among the tacos, my favorite were the Fish and Pork ones. To sum this up, we shared a Tres leches cake, and it was INSANELY GOOD! Like I'm not really a fan of Tres leches cake, but this was fabulous, and every bite just melted in my mouth. Can't recommend this enough!

Alexx E.

Yelp
First and last time ! Chicken flavorless , shrimp taste like it was never cleaned. They didn't refund.

Eileen E.

Yelp
Yes. Yup. Absolutely. I stand behind this 100%. Calling all vegetarians and meatatarians and foodies. Get in here. The tortillas are one of the best that I have had in the city. The ingredients are fresh and the tacos are indeed tasty. As a vegetarian, I applaud that all of their beans are veggie friendly and tasty. Like other reviewers have noted, the flavors are simple. The salsas are delicious and up the spiciness/flavor level. But you cannot beat the price or the service. Everyone was super friendly and our made to order items were ready lightning fast. Such a welcome addition to the College Hill area!!

Lacrimae M.

Yelp
This restaurant has become my all time favorite taco takeout. They offer fresh and handmade food all the way from the tortillas down to the salsa. Delivery is fast, efficient, and extremely cost-effective. In addition, they offer daily specials that are not on the regular menu, including fish, and specialty dishes.

Sophie C.

Yelp
I have dreams about their strawberry tres leches cake, holy god it's amazing. $1 taco tuesdays are great and fast for last minute lunch or dinner. It's not 5 stars only because my order has been made wrong a few times but other than that, highly recommend.

John G.

Yelp
Really good taco. Authentic, fast. Tasted like the real deal. I feel like they give you the same amount of meat in one taco as they do for a burrito at Chipotle

Darla L.

Yelp
Best taco Tuesday in town!! Can't beat 1.25 for a taco! Every single one I've tried has been amazing. They also have a really great selection of aguafrescas. Everything is flavorful and delicious.

Zuri A.

Yelp
Amazing food, truly authentic. I felt at home, honestly. They offer vegetarian options which is rare in Mexican restaurants. 100% recommend

Kylie S.

Yelp
I'm writing this seconds before rushing in for dollar tacos in the pouring rain. I make the trip almost every Tuesday rain or shine, and you should too! $1 tacos on Tuesday, who can beat that?? The Al Pastor is easily my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of them. Their food is simple, cheap + tasty and the staff is friendly + keeps the line moving quick.

Haleigh A.

Yelp
some of the best tacos in the city! I love the carnitas but you can't really go wrong. omar and the team do a great job with their customer service and on point food every time. also love the fact that the college hill location has a parking lot and a park next door to enjoy your meal. definitely check this place out if you want authentic mexican food! they also do a great catering job!

Tuyet Nhu H.

Yelp
Been coming here for years! Great food for so cheap. Love the Monday $10 whole chicken/tortilla deal and $1 taco Tuesday's

Chris M.

Yelp
One of my favorite go to taco places! Highly recommend the Carnitas (pork) tacos, chips and queso. They make all there tortillas in house, fresh, and oh so good. They always have good selection of specials. Also, if you want to try all the tacos then shop up for $1 taco Tuesdays. They are a smaller version of the regular tacos but for a buck can try them all for $4-5. Typically, I'll get a to go box and then walk two doors down to Brink brewery for a great beer to have with my tacos. These two joints really do complement each other. Would love to see a future yelp event with these two places. Overall, it's a great place to get quality food. Can't wait to go back soon!

Jackson G.

Yelp
Food is very fresh! Could use a little seasoning but overall delicious! Ambiance is very inviting and modern! Service was so fast, I didn't believe it was our meals that were ready! Highly reccomend

Emily B.

Yelp
Quick, authentic, affordable. Everything a taco should be! Got the taco combo to-go which came with two tacos, rice, and refried beans for $8. If anyone says Cincinnati doesn't have good Mexican food, take them to Tortilleria Garcia and change their mind. Tips: 1) there's free parking out back 2) they sell their fresh pressed tortillas in packs to go

Yolanda C.

Yelp
I had both the chicken and pork. The pork was especially dry. I almost choked. They were authentic and delicious but like I said dry. They need some additional sauce on the meat. The service was good. The young person didn't say hello and she was so quiet, quite honestly we didn't notice she standing there to take our order. The ambiance is nice and calm. The space is inviting and smells amazing because they make the soft shells from scratch.. fresh shells.. love it

Ritwik B.

Yelp
Yay! Such good tacos! If you like "real" Mexican tacos (i.e., not Americanized garbage available elsewhere around town), then you'll love this. Very pleasant; very efficient. Not as cheap as a taco stand, but not as expensive as a proper restaurant. They don't have the widest selection of meats, but they definitely have all the basics.
