This was my second time here and I decided to try the Turpido this time after reading good reviews. I am so glad I tried this because it was so delicious and they put a good amount of meat!!! This really is my favorite Taqueria I’ve tried in Sioux Falls. The first time I came I got asada tacos and those were amazing as well. Edit: Tried the asada burrito today and man it was another hit! So freaking good. I have not been disappointed in anything I’ve ordered here. Just keep in mind there is nowhere to sit and eat inside and they take cash only, no debit or credit. Everyone was super friendly when I came in. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Reminds me of the good Mexican food at home in California.

I saw this place a few months ago and finally stopped in... I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! Staff and the owner were very friendly!! I ordered a burrito, and it was probably the best one I've had in years! Big and full of stuff!! I asked to get a small sample of the menudo. The owner ended up giving me a partial bowl of it. I loved it, so I bought an order. The tortillas they make are amazing & have a very fair price! Highly recommend at stop in for fresh food & corn tortillas!!!

My husband and I eat here once or twice a week, it's so damn good!! Cheap for all the food you get. Locally owned, which I love! Great flavor! Just remember to bring CASH!! No cards. The shop is small so seating is VERY LIMITED. My husband and I will turn it into a picnic so we take our food elsewhere, like the Falls. It's great simple, small menu. TORTILLERIA HERNANDEZ IS THE BEST!

Great service and great food to boot! Their burritos are huge and packed with flavor! My wife and I usually have them once a week for lunch, and it never disappoints.

This place is a mom and pop style Mexican restaurant, 100% amazing food. This place makes their own tortillas let me tell you about flavor! Very clean inside and in the kitchen. This is a must try if you are close to the downtown area!

Bring cash, bring your appetite! Super limited menu but it's perfection! The asada torpedo, blew my mind I could only finish half but the other half keeps calling to me! It's insanely delicious! Tons of steak, beautiful tomatoes and add that cup of spicy salsa they give you- it's spicy but incredibly delicious My Fanily had the burritos and they loved it, so much! This is a new monthly visit, for us, for sure. It's take out, only but STILL worth getting food from and we live 25 miles away!

First time trying this place and the asada burrito was awesome! Definitely coming back to try again.

Was visiting from California and was glad I stopped by. The torta was probably the best one I've ever had. Really wish this place was back home because it's probably the last time I'll ever get to try it. 10/10

We were driving through Sioux Falls and saw this place had good reviews so we decided to take a chance and try it. Our expectations were exceeded. We agreed that it was the best burrito we have ever had. There were two people working and both of them were very kind. They do not have indoor seating. It is a to-go style restaurant. We took our food down to the falls park. Ended the day with great food and a great view!

They had 3 people working that were very helpful. A fridge filled with drinks from Mexico. A stack of tortillas they make in house. We order some chicken and steak tacos. The food was ready in 5 mins. The food was good. Chicken was dry, but the homemade tortillas and the sauce were really tasty. When combined with a price of $2.50 a taco that is stuffed full, this place is a great go-to for a quick lunch. I'll definitely be back for the burrito. Make sure you bring cash, no cards accepted! We had tacos and the sandwich. So very good. Next time we will get there earlier to buy some tortillas. Wonderful take out meal.

Any taqueria that makes tortillas in house is worth checking out. This place is no exception. I had a few asada tacos, and it was as good as any number of spots that serves similar food in Phoenix that I've been to. Very simple menu as well, but simplicity works in this case. The caveats are that it's cash only, and there's literally two chairs in there to sit while you wait for your order. Definitely a little mom and pop atmosphere, but the quality of the food makes it worth it.

The tacos are good, but the sandwiches and quesadillas are even better! I would say you can't find a better sandwich in Sioux Falls than the pork sandwich. For $11, it can feed two people! Just make sure you have cash.

Pretty Good food. We had: quesadilla- delicious, cheesy and tasty burrito - so/so, not my fave. tacos al pastor- delicious.

BY FAR YHE BEST MEXICAN FOOD I'VE HAD IN THE MID-WEST. I'm from California, I know a good taco. This is the place to go if you're passing through or live locally. It's run out of a Tortilleria shop. No sitting. Take out only. Mom & Pop shop. They also have beverages. Portions - great. Taco - great. They have a burrito on the menu which is chicken - great. Salsa = to die for. Spicy! CASH ONLY. GO!

If you want to be blown away, look no further!! This place is seriously serving up next level stuff. I'm from Los Angeles (like born and raised) so it goes without saying I know good Mexican food. Tortilleria Hernandez can hold their own with any place in LA!--it's that freakin GOOD!! So do your yourself a favor and stop at this gem of a restaurant. Your tastebuds are BEGGING you!!

I used Yelp to scan for something delicious as we were driving past Sioux Falls toward the Black Hills. Tortilleria Hernandez definitely hit the spot! We got there late in the day, so they had run out of a few things. So we had the chicken burritos - omg so yummy. Tons of chicken, beautifully seasoned, mixed with extras that blended so well together. Plus a delicious spicy salsa on the side. Warning - it's a huge portion! They do make everything fresh, so it takes 10-15 minutes to cook. We used that time to fill up and came back in time to grab our meals and run. Would definitely return!

We needed a quick breakfast to go. Homemade tortillas I said must try. Very welcoming and one of the best burritos I have had. The salsa was delicious as well. Mexican drinks on hand even.

Wow! Basically a tortilla manufacturing facility that also makes tacos / burritos / etc. Fully authentic mexican food. Absolutely would recommend. There's a reason why this place has a five star rate.

The best kept secret In Sioux Falls for Mexican fast food. The owner and his son are always there. I suppose that's why it's the best in town!!

Wow, amazing and simple Mexican food. Nothing crazy, just the basics done spot on. Prices have gone up considerably from when many of the pictures were taken, but still affordable. Warning though: THEY DONT TAKE CREDIT CARDS!!! Cash only!!!

This has to be some of the best, authentic Mexican food I've ever had. I am from California and we definitely aren't lacking in taquerias, so I was a bit skeptical to try it in the mid-west. I was definitely not disappointed. From the minute we walked in, it felt like home. The owners were very hospitable and friendly. I had the pastor burrito, which was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfect and the veggies were so fresh. The hot sauce was a nice compliment to the burrito as well. I wish we had a place this good near us. If I ever make it back to Sioux Falls, I'll be visiting this place for sure!

My biggest regret is not coming back for seconds before we left Sioux Falls. The guy who took our order looked like your typical college kid who possessed a candid, innocently humorous personality. Family owned busy with great taste! The steak burrito wrap remained crisp after 20 minutes. The steak tacos were nicely seasoned with a refreshing quality. I may need to plan our return trip in such a way that I could come back!

Authentic, reasonably priced, simple tortillas and burritos. I had the park Al pastor burrito. As mentioned by another reviewer the tortilla itself possesed real flavor. Hernandez is essentially a tortilla manufacturing operation. As such it lends itself more for take out than done in. There is on small table of you need to eat tight then And there. Kind folks, hard workers.

Great, authentic, literally hot off the presses tortillas and burritos. I gorged myself on the pork Al pastor burrito. As noted by another reviewer the tortilla itself had real flavor. How about that. The tortilla itself tasted good. Fresh and good. Not much in the way of table service. Be advised you are essentially entering a tortilla manufacturing operation here. They kind of pull themselves away from the machine to put together your food order. Hot, tasty, fresh, clean cooked right in front of you. Bags of chicharon as well if one is of a mind.

We had chicken and pork tacos. The seasoning was absolutely wonderful on both. The cilantro, onions, and lime accent the taco well. The sauce is amazing, savory and flavorful but fair warning it has robust heat that I wasn't quite as prepared for but made me want more. The corn tortillas were fresh and delicious. Super friendly owners, quick service, open kitchen to see your food being made. Large variety of beverages. Will definitely be returning.

I moved to Sioux Falls from California & this place is a taste of home! I get my tortillas here on a regular basis. Their tacos are the best, especially with homemade hot sauce. They sometimes have tamales which are really awesome too. there's a selection of bottle and can cold beverages. Bring cash, this is a real Mom & Pop family business. No cards, just friendly service, great food & big smiles!

Found a place to get tacos, carne asada burritos, and fresh tortillas. We are new to the area from San Diego. The carne asada tacos were amazing. Flavorful and fresh. My carne asada burrito was also amazing. The meat, tortilla, and the rice on the inside all creates a perfect bite every time. They only take cash. If you are near by stop by. Forget about Taco John's or Taco Bell and treat yourself to some really great food. We will be back.

TIP: cash only last time I went Well, the secret is out. Closest to authentic Mexican in all of So Dak. Just trust this Latin girl on that. And the owners, they are the sweetest couple. No seating, just take out, this is a tortilleria that sells food...but holy cow...it needs to be a full blown restaurant. Hopefully it will grow and they will expand their menu while maintaining quality. It's pretty basic and delicious right now. Great salsas, they also sell glass bottled Mexican (real sugar) coke and jaritos. Oh and yeah, get a pack of home made tortillas to go and make yourself some breakfast tacos or something. You won't regret it.

Cute little hole in the wall with a limited menu but the tacos were some of the best I've had. I had the pork taco and chicken. Afterwards I wished I ordered the quesadilla to have later but def worth stopping thru from Falls Park.

Bill I may be from out of town but have family in Sioux Falls. I like this place and when I come to Sioux Falls try to find local places to eat at rather than chains. My brother and I look at places in town and try to vary where we eat. I took a teacher of mine and her significant other to eat there. They are from New Mexico and said that it was great and reminded them of home.

A hole in the wall shop with great service! They have the best tacos on a homemade corn tortilla for $1.50 each. The carne asada is b o m b and so is the homemade salsa. I usually call ahead to get my order to go but there is limited seating and you are more than welcome to grab a chair at the counter or the one table. P.S. it's cash only!

This place is amazingly delicious! Some days they are making tortillas when you go there, it is as much fun as watching the mini donut machine at the fair! I like automation and am easily amused apparently... The food is priced reasonably, and it is delicious and filling. I try to get there whenever I am in town! Love the place!

They were really busy when I stopped by. The gentleman that took my order was very friendly. I ordered tacos and bought some tortillas. The tacos were delicious and worth the wait in like.

Closed Saturdays. We found out the hard way by going there to eat. No worries found a great Mexican Food hole in the wall right next door!

This Resturant delivers the best authentic Mexican food and I know my Mexican food. Everything we've tried has been amazing. I also buy their tortillas quite often. Very very friendly owners and we make a trip there once a week. Try it you won't be disappointed....

Okay, I have to admit John and I absolutely love these places!! We would crawl on hands and knees to have home cooked meals like this more often. You just can't meld flavors like this unless you have years of experience and have been taught by the best. Thanks for sharing your gifts and we will be back! Service was excellent too!

On a road trip, moving from Seattle to Nashville. Never in my life did I expect to find the best burrito of my life in Sioux Falls, SD. Hole in the wall with kind, beautiful people, and excellent food in a wasteland of small disgusting chains and strip malls. After hundreds of miles with pitiful culinary options, what a relief to find this gem. Thank you Hernandez.

The pork al pastor burrito I had was pretty dang good. Unlike other places the burrito had flavor and did not need to be covered in sauce. It was also not greasy which was great. At $6.25 it was also reasonably priced.

This place is a hidden gem. The menu is small, with about five options, including tacos and burritos. The tortillas are all homemade with locally grown corn, and you can taste the freshness. Meat is cooked to order, and perfectly spiced. They make their own hot sauce, delicious flavor, not too hot, but with the right amount of kick. Some things you should know are that this place is cash only and take out only. Prices are very reasonable, so much so that I ate way too much and was useless (but happy) for the rest of the day. Hernandez Tortillaria is a hidden gem in near-East Sioux Falls. Several selections often available. Obviously a family operation, the food is all prepared with dignity and respect.
