"It’s a popular destination among the city’s Mexican residents for everything housed within its walls — a market, bakery, carniceria, and restaurant plating a bevy of south-of-the-border dishes. On the taco front, tortillas are made in house (this is a tortilleria after all) with fillings ranging from chicharron and al pastor to cabeza and nopales. Pollo a la plancha is a higher-ticket protein worth a try, as are the shrimp tacos offered at $9.99 for three. Another must: the michelada." - Faiyaz Kara

Server came once maybe twice to check on us. Food runners brought the food. The food was excellent. Definitely coming back, need to work on service. See u soon!🔜

Our waitress who was standing at the front when we arrived seemed to already be annoyed with us the second we walked in. I had high hopes for this place but didn’t realize it would be a requirement to know Spanish for good service. She misunderstood us ordering a chorizo taco which came out as chicharron. She then proceeded to sit at a table talking the majority of our dining experience so I had to go and interrupt their conversation to get the taco corrected. I didn’t want to have to get up again for a refill so ended up stopping another server for a water. Very poor service and attitude.

Google
Love the food. Gone there 3 times in the week we have been here on vacation. Price is reasonable too. I'll go again before I leave, if I get a chance.

Google
Our first time and this place is very authentic! Food was great and server Michelle was awesome and very attentive and friendly! We also loved the separate supermarket and delicious bakery. Thank you!

Google
Absolutely spectacular meal. Freshly fried tortillas, 2 kinds of hot sauce. The frijoles were perfect. I had a burrito of which I could only eat half. The flavors were amazing and the service is excellent. Best of all unbelievably affordable. The restaurant is beautiful, but they were busy listening to the soccer game on very high volume.

Google
Really great Mexican restaurant. The food was excellent and authentic and huge portions. And if you would like the practice your Spanish - our food server did not speak English which was not a problem. All in all if you are looking for excellent Mexican food with great service and Wonderful atmosphere. Check this restaurant out. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Google
This place is authentic. The food is amazing!! Fast, tasty. Carne asada tacos and classic margaritas for the win!!! Looking for a truly authentic Mexican place, this is where you should go. I feel like I stepped into Mexico, but better!!

Great location Don't miss a chance of trying this

Yelp

Yelp
OMG! I was looking for a quick lunch spot near where my business trip took me, and was in the mood for authentic Mexican food. Wasn't going to stop here because it looked like a dive from the outside. Mamma said to never judge a book by its cover, so I went in. Good call...it was so authentic that I needed the one bi-lingual person in the place to translate my orders for me! And all the TVs were on ESPN Deportes, which helped me learn some more Spanish besides una cerveza mas por favor! House margaritas were tasty and strong, and the food was delicious and truly authentic...or at least as much as this gringo can understand! Ordered the beef enchiladas. I will be back, and am looking forward to trying out the rest of their menu, as well as the 30+ brands of tequila.

Litsi E.

Yelp
Found it by chance one afternoon and can't be happier that I found it! Food was great, service was great, soccer was on TV....what else can you ask for? Flavors are authentic they brought me home! Will definitely eat there again, will bring people and will highly recommend! Can't wait to go again!

Yelp
Blink and you might miss it, and then you'll regret it! Being from Texas, I'm always on the hunt for good, authentic Mexican food. And this place delivers. It's part of a small shopping plaza that neighbors a bakery, meat market and a couple others, but they're all run by the same owners. So everything here is pretty authentic! When you first walk in, you're greeted by traditional Mexican music and lots of colorful decor. The restaurant is roomy and accommodating and also has what appeared to be a full bar. It's all table service seating but you can place orders to go. They don't offer fountain style sodas, but they have a wide assortment of bottled and cans. They also offer traditional home made drinks like Orchata. The tortilla chips are made fresh on site and the salsas are delicious. They provide you with two...one nice...and one naughty on your tongue. Very spicy! The portions are large and fit the pricing. Some of the offerings may not look like your regular ideas of food. For example, my daughter ordered the chicken quesadilla plate and they looked more like tacos. But still yummy! I ordered the Quesabrilla tacos and they were absolute perfection. There is a parking lot but it can get quite busy, especially on the weekends, so finding a spot can be challenging. But all in all it's a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner...and maybe a bag of sweet bread from the bakery next door afterwards!

Yelp
The inside is cute and clean. The service was nonexistent. We came to the restaurant around 5:00pm and one other table was seated. Our server took our order and we never saw her again. A food runner brought our food and we didn't see anyone else until it was time for the check. Our water was never refilled and the chimichanga was horribly greasy. I've never in my life had a chimichanga ever be served with this much oil. This photo was taken after using 6 napkins to soak up more oil - it just kept coming and didn't stop. The flavor was okay but wouldn't order this again.

Peg K.

Yelp
Good food for the price. Grant it, lots of the items are more "tex-mex" than authentic mexican, but they are good. The tacos are more authentic (all but chicken, because chicken tacos are not a thing). They are served with onions and cilantro and different salsas. When we are in the area, we visit and eat there.

Ken K.

Yelp
Hair in food bad bad bad not a clean place I will never eat here again never ever nunca volveré a comer aquí

Mario D.

Yelp
Best tacos I have ever had. I am from Miami and we do not find anything like this down there. I tried the head and tripe tacos which are hard to find where I am from. They are well-proportioned, well-priced, and delicious. If I come back I will definitely try other types from here.

Ashley R.

Yelp

Kiana D.

Yelp
Never in my life have i been so disappointed by "authentic mexican food." They were the blandest tacos i've ever had, they don't serve any spices with it, and i'm pretty sure charge extra for it. In a group of four, three ordered tacos and sent them back. When the check came, full price for tacos we sent back almost 100% there. The chicken tacos were not worth it, they tasted like bland boiled chicken with no salt or flavor. I've never received terrible food, send it back, and still expected to pay for it. Truly abhorrent consideration. Our server had no fault of her own, but whoever is managing this place has zero consideration for people. Don't waste your time with such overpriced gringo ass tacos. 73$ for tacos we did not eat.

Heidi V.

Yelp
Love the foooood and atmosphere! Definitely a must for authentic Mexican food and an authentic environment

Alex G.

Yelp
Super authentic Mexican restaurant not far from the Mall at Millenia. We speak Spanish, so we were good to go! Start with a Michelada (look it up if you're not familiar with it) to drink - yum! Skinny margarita was also a hit - well balanced and plenty of tequila! Small order or guacamole comes with onions and tomatoes in it, sprinkled with cotija cheese; well made and easy to eat quickly. Tacos were super authentic; our favorites were the barbacoa and the al pastor. FYI, one order of rice and beans is enough for two people to share. Overall, a solid trip to real Mexico.

Alex E.

Yelp
Found this very good, unique and proper Mexican restaurant on google. We were at millennium mall , hungry and 60 miles from home, and Hadn't had lunch and it was already 4:00 pm. It's located in a predominantly Latino area, I believe, and all the patrons outside of me were Latino, which for me means very good Mexican Food. I'm older and from Southern California and been all over mexico over many many years. First thing the two salsas were unique, spicy but not hot. Chips were fresh and not oily. Large portions served, very quick and smiling server. I had pork tostadas, my boy had tortas and my baby girl huevos rancheros. All yummy. The thing I found was none of the food was greasy or heavy with fats, almost a sweet flavor but I can't find the right words. Loved it and and it kinda reminds me of Guadalajara cuisine, but who knows? Check it out!

Ashley L.

Yelp
Randomly stopped into Tortilleria after smelling the wonderful aroma after turning off John Young Parkway one day - this place is as authentic Mexican as you can get and that is a good thing. It's like stepping into a Mexican bar where both the clientele and staff take you to experience another culture for the day. I always appreciate a good 2-4-1 margarita special, which I believe they may have everyday. Get the chorizo tacos & a sope- YUM. They're also on Uber Eats when you don't feel like leaving the house but want to still celebrate Taco Tuesday everyday - Tortilleria has got you. Ole.

Yelp
*RED FLAG ALERT Their food was absolutely disgusting and raw....Obviously they need a "NEW COOK"

Cristi C.

Yelp
The food is okay but the customer service is horrible the girls who work there only pay attention to the men it's horrible what is this a restaurant or a brothel I'm still up in arms having to seat myself wait almost a hour for someone to attend my table meanwhile there was only 4 people inside besides myself shut down an get new people to work there this is not a hustle it's sick

Lincoln H.

Yelp
My first visit food was delicious and seasoned well. Plenty food for your bucks. Staff so friendly and welcoming. The decor was great. Very clean and a very pleasant atmosphere. Stop by and enjoy your meal. Very welcoming restaurant.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Excellent customer service and great food! The vegetarian burritos are so delicious. The tortillas are fresh and low in calories. Highly recommend this place to friends and family.

MrTpozzi ..

Yelp
Breakfast was amazing. The fajitas looks super good as well . Chips and tortillas were homemade and salsa was awesome . Loved it

Miguel M.

Yelp
I've been to the other Tortilleria La Mexicana on 2272 W Columbia Ave in Kissimmee FL and this one does not compare in the slightest bit. Extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. My chicken tacos were soggy. The chicken was not fully cooked. I ordered a queso fundido which costs $6.99 in comparison to the one with chorizo that costs $8.99 and when it got to the table it came bare with no side of tortillas, salad, queso blanco slices and guac slices. Who pays $7 for just cheese that isn't even in a skillet? I'll never be back to this location ever, but they can expect me at the one in Kissimmee next week.

Christina C.

Yelp
We did Uber Eats so it was obviously togo. My boyfriend got the Barbaccoa burrito and it was huge. The meat I thought was just okay. I had the first tacos and they were good. We also got the steak quesadilla which were 3 small quesadillas but man were they good. The steak was great, but they our this white sauce on it that was really good! Okay I know rice and beans are always amazing but the refried beans at this place are amazing. They are salty but I love salt! Lol. And a great price for sure for a lot of food! Would deg recommend, however Border Grille is still my favorite ;)

Dio T.

Yelp
Two words: BOMB AF. Authentic Mexican food, home made tortillas, sweet bread, Aguas frescas, Mexican products all under one roof!

Carolina H.

Yelp
This place is like going to Mexico, literally! Food is amazing!! Staff is friendly, Melissa and Carolina are great servers, very attentive & fast. Highly recommend this place if you are looking to test authentic Mexican food.

Yolia B.

Yelp
Their tacos are huge and super cheap! Plus they are always on point with orders. At least for me, they have always provided great and fast service!

sam h.

Yelp
As I sat here waiting for service I noticed everyone else getting served chips and food and beer but I was being ignored and I had to track down a waitress just to get an order of tacos and a cold beer, when I ask for my check it came back as calling me a gringo, if anyone came to a restaurant and on that check they were called a Negro or a wet back, they would be wanting to sue for discrimination,,, they don't like white people here

Toni S.

Yelp
Great nopales tacos. Service is always fast and the food is priced fairly. Great for taking the food togo and dine in.

Brenda R.

Yelp
The food was nasty, no flavor, everything cold!! The tortillas where cold. The torta didn't put mayonnaise and basically the pieces of tomatoes where huge. I believe they put the whole tomato inside.

Vanessa C.

Yelp
Not sure if it was the timing I came which was one hour before closing (I don't usually do that because I understand but I was starving for tacos), but the tacos I had were horrible. Specifically the chorizo ones, which was upsetting cause those were all I ordered since they happen to be out of every other meat I wanted. The caldo de pollo was decent and what really made my whole meal was the strawberry agua fresca, I'd honestly go back just for the drink and it's the only reason I'm rating them 2 stars. Besides that don't bother coming here. Go across the street to the blue and white Mexican restaurant near the fire department, now those tacos are authentic and to die for.

Kamila L.

Yelp
I gave another chance to this restaurant and it didn't disappoint me! I ate the Chicken Milanesa Torta ( Breaded chicken Mexican style panini). They also has Ham and Cheese Torta ( Torta de Jamon y Queso como la del Chavo del Ocho) Lol!!! The owners already finally separated the grocery store from the restaurant (good move) and a Yelp! Sticker stand out at the front door! Here it comes, the new favorite Mexican Restaurant in Orlando!

Penny S.

Yelp
I had the chiles rellenos and it was delicious!!! The portion was more than enough and was served with beans and rice. Service was very friendly and fast. Casual atmosphere and good value. This gringa will be back!

Bren R.

Yelp
They have a great breakfast, and one of the best homemade Michaladas I have had in a while. One of the most authentic restaurants in Orlando.

Annette S.

Yelp
When everyone in this restaurant is Mexican that is a good sign. They had to find a staff member who could speak English. Food is great. Service is fast and friendly. Definitely will come back.

Richard W.

Yelp
The beans were way too salty, and the rice had no flavor. Whereas the beef was okay, the topping on the burrito was terrible. Overall, this food lacked flavor and even the tortilla chips were poor. My suggestion is to eat the beans with chips so you can have some salt on your chips. Also, no salsa with the chips.

Stella G.

Yelp
We used ubereats to order from here as lunch before attending a festival in Orlando. Sooo good and filling. Got 6 orders of tacos (2 orders of 3 types,) rice, and some really delicious horchata, the kind I haven't had since I was in Miami in March (haven't found a good NYC replacement tbh.) Worth every cent. When I'm back in Orlando, I'm definetly coming here, especially for their cheap prices.

Modesto R.

Yelp
This place never disappoints!! Okay, it's not for the average Taco Bell aficionado, but if your from an area where Mexican culture is part of the landscape and enjoy AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine - this is the place. Loud with the sounds of Mexican music blaring from the jukebox, very pretty senoritas constantly tending to your eating experience, and the smells of amazing food. Fresh homemade sauces and tortilla chips that wash down delightfully with a Dos XX. Not a place for the cultured - rough part of town, but well worth the risk. I suggest the Mocajete - a sizzling carved bowl of stone filled with cactus, jalapenos, chicken, pork, beef, cheese, onions, shrimp, tortilla and rice compliment this mountain od savory Mexico!

Alicia A.

Yelp
Amazing salsa, tostadas, tacos, horchata. Everything! Wish I didn't live so far away or id be here all the time! This is the real deal! Complete with a live band!

Dani E.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good Mexican place to go eat at, this ain't it. Not an "authentic" Mexican restaurant. Super Loud Cuban music blasting. The rice isn't Mexican rice. I ordered flautas with no tomato that came with rice and beans. The flautas had a giant pile of tomato all over with onions and lettuce. The rice and beans were cold along with the rice and beans that came with my husbands order. He had a michelada which was good. And I had an agua de pina which was also really good. The food just wasn't the best. And The service was just ok, not the best either.

Valerie M.

Yelp
Minus one star because the beans are disgustingly salty aside from that it was good. Carne Asada burrito chorizo and chicken tacos well worth the price.

Jessyca C.

Yelp
Service was great! Food was pretty good! We had the Gordita de asada, molcajete, and carne asada plate. Everything was good and flavorful!

Daya A.

Yelp
I been an ongoing fan of Tortilleria La Mexicana on Oakridge for quite some time now. Anytime there is a craving for authentic Mexican food I fly over here. At food being under $10 an entree they serve a variety of tacos, enchiladas, flautas, and sopes/huaraches. My favorite day to go is on a Sunday because the mariachi band will perform and they usually have a soccer game playing on all the tvs. From all the items on the menu the best choices are the tacos, huaraches, and horchatas. The huaraches is a popular mexican dish that consist of a fried masa base with your choice of meat/ sausage/ chicken along with lettuce, tomatoes, pice, onions, cheese, and sour cream. Tortilleria uses delicious white Mexican cheese on the huaraches so every bite is memorable. The tacos have a soft corn tortilla base which I absolutely love to order with shredded chicken inside. They also use cilantro, diced tomatoes, and onions inside the taco so you get a flavorable but fresh bite. I tried their enchiladas but wasn't too found of them since the refried beans seemed stale so I always stick with other menu options. Tortilleria also has a stall of Mexican ice creams and icy cool "agua frescas" in many different flavors. Make sure to try the coconut and horchata flavor, you will be hooked! One time I was lucky enough to run into their frozen chocolate bananas with sprinkles. Sadly they only make them very rarely and they sell out quick. Shortly stated this is a must stop for those in need of authentic Mexican food!

Tom B.

Yelp
On my radar since reading the lovely Daya's ROTD, I made it to Tortilleria la Mexicana #2 today for lunch. I love being surprised and delighted, and delighted and surprised I was indeed. Es muy autentico. I'm sure I was the only non-Mexican person in this very busy restaurant. I loved the wood-carved tables and chairs, with the tables having colorful carving under glass. The restaurant is also home to a nice-sized Mexican grocery store. My entree was Enchiladas Suizas con queso, con refritos y arroz. Quite delicious. But even with this ample dish, I couldn't pass up my first nopale, or cactus taco. What a treat, mixed with onions and cilantro. There's a full bar here, and while I should have done something Mexican, I had a couple of glasses of white wine. Mexicana #2 must get few wine orders, as my exceedingly lovely waitress had to check to see if they even had any; and it was served in a water glass at room temperature! I did a double-take when the bill arrived. With three enchiladas, refried beans, rice, a cactus taco and two glasses of wine, it was only $13.04. I noticed numerous restaurants along this little Latino Restaurant Row of south Orlando. I'll be back for more!

Rob B.

Yelp
This place was a nice little find. I've driven by it a million times, but never took the time to pull in. I fully scarfed on and enjoyed the buffet (priced perfectly at $7.95). It was stocked full of chicken, fish, beef and pork items (inlcuding all of the fixins-beans, rice, cheeses, fresh pico and salsas.) The fresh corn tortillas had me wanting to stand up, dance and shout a random spanish word of excitment. Thankfully, my inner adult reeled me back in reminding me that 1: I can't dance and 2: I know absolutely zero freakin' spanish. "You saved the day yet again inner Rob voice!" Moving here from Texas 9 years ago, (my wife and I are in our 30's and from San Antonio and El Paso) we've definitely have had our ups and downs and round and rounds (ooo a rhyme) with securing authentic mexican food. So here is what we have demized in our post therapy sessions from a 9 year mexican food withdrawl. Either A: folks here in Orlando prefer alternate types of latin/spanish food and that good mexican restaurants cannot thrive (example: Jalepeno's or Los Generales) or B: they're not going to right places that are being recommended on this site and unfortunately folks like me that have been trying to find authentic mexican food are being steered to what "the locals" perception of mexican food is. (it's a conspiracy I tell ya) For those of you like me who have been on the constant search for an authentic experience...the easiest and safest bet is eat here. or if anything, pull your fake chips and salsa eating tails out of those "yukkity yuk yuk" joints and Google any place that has the word "Tortilleria" in it....you'll thank me. Enjoy your meal here, it was perfect. (ohhh, and dont go for the expected scenery of a sit down place that you can feel snobby at) Enjoy the authentic food, atmosphere and heritage...and you'll surely be treated to a wonderful cultural surprise. Enjoy!

Mike F.

Yelp
This was the first Mexican restaurant we visited upon our arrival in Florida food was excellent very traditional and everything tasted made to order I will definitely be going back there and their chips and salsa all I can say is wow especially the spicy that's super wow and our waitress was very attentive and the place was fairly crowded for 1 in the afternoon after tasting the food I could see why a good place to go for some authentic Mexican food

Julianne E.

Yelp
Wow, this place is as authentic as you can get. Our waitress didn't speak English at all, thankfully the other one did. The restaurant is attached to a market, so not only can you eat you can shop for your produce etc. afterwards. Also in the same plaza were a bakery and a takeout joint. The decor was interesting and unique. All the chairs and tables seemed to be hand carved. The backs of the chairs were carved into flowers or horses, very colorful. It was not a dirty place, wasn't the cleanest though. Ordered the chili relleno, all I can say is wow, 2 chilies, beans, rice, lettuce, salsa, avocado, and cheese on one plate. It was more than enough food for one, I'm still full. My friends ordered the mixed fajitas, which she said was excellent, and again more than enough food. They offer 2 for 1 Jose Quervo margarita's all day every day. Who doesn't love a 2 for 1 deal? The location of this place was in a strip mall, I'm thinking the same people own the entire building. The area looks a little sketchy but in all I would go back

Colin G.

Yelp
Really great Mexican spot. And how can you beat a $6 lunch buffet? The buffet had nopales, salad, pineapple, several meat dishes, rice, beans, cheese enchiladas, and even posole. The regular menu looked good, but it's hard to get around that when it's all so cheap. The best part was that we were given a tower (at least ten) of warm tortillas for the meal. The restaurant is inside of the market. Go in, and it's on the left. It's not like a lot of little Mexican market restaurants I've been to in that it's much cleaner and the service was excellent. The nopales was probably my favorite. Big chunks of cactus in a chile sauce with thin slices of beef steak. It was perfect for the tortillas. Everything was good though. The beans and rice were even good. The tortilleria is actually a couple of doors down, from what I could tell. I went in to ask if they made flour tortillas (they don't). When I find good ones, I usually bring some back since we can't get good ones in Indiana and we like to make breakfast burritos at home. I wasn't too impressed with the corn ones, but it was nice that they were so fresh. The panaderia next door is excellent. They had a HUGE pile of conchas that was very tempting. All, of course, extremely cheap. Solid Yelp find and just off the toll-free back way to the airport from Disney World.

Ella G.

Yelp
Food has no flavor and tastes premade. All the meat is dry and old.

Chance S.

Yelp
The shopping plaza is easy to find... the restaurant isn't. I went into the fast food place on one end of the plaza and was greeted by a "Buenas!" from a woman. "Ummmm... Is this the restaurant?" I asked. She pointed "No,no... alla." So I walked all the way to the other end of the plaza, past the Latin grocery/market, past the Latin money order place, past the Latin phone center.... you get the idea... right? lol Found it! I was the only gringo in the restaurant. So I knew I would not be disappointed with the food. The chips and salsa were great. The tamales I had to start off were excellent. I tried 3 different tacos. First was the carne asada... very good. Then a chicken taco... average. And last I tried a barbacoa taco... disappointing. It tasted like roast. Nothing like barbacoa that i am used to. I also had one Dos Equis Amber. All of that above and the total came out to $15. I felt like I owed them more money. So you get great value here!

Connie B.

Yelp
Love the chorizo. It's pretty near heaven on earth. Also you can get the real Coke and well life just doesn't get any better. It really doesn't. I've been going to this or the Sanford Location for almost a decade.

Kim M.

Yelp
Very authentic and the recently put in some new decor to make the dining room more appealing. We tend to get tacos and horchata, they also have a buffet that is worth trying.

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
I have never received such bad service in my life. Arrived for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Our server immediately brought over some chips and salsa and took our drink order. The chips and salsa are pretty uneventful. The chips lack any flavor or salt. The salsa was a green salsa and just OK. I do not eat meat, so I tried to find something on the menu that I could eat. I ended up ordering a burrito. I told the server that I don't eat meat and asked for beans and veggies instead. My husband ordered the verde enchiladas. When our food came out I was extremely disappointed. My burrito had no beans. Instead it was just a salad stuffed into a tortilla. I guess their idea of veggies is huge amount of lettuce and tomatoes. The meat my husband ordered was also incorrect in the enchilada. We figured we would wait for our server to return to explain our issues. Yet she never ONCE came back to check on us. We sat there with empty drinks and just picking at our dishes. Every other table around us were getting help. Not one person came to see if everything was OK with our food. After sitting for about 30 minutes not one person even came to bring us our bill. I finally walked up to the front of the store area and had to ask for it. The lady working the counter couldn't speak English, so she went and found someone else to help us so we waited again. I've never felt so not welcomed in a restaurant before in my life. The food was bad but the service was awful!
