I came here once with a friend, a lifetime ago, and it was delicious. Came back today and it’s even better than I remember. Sublime flavors, fast service. The tortillas taste like they were being made while I was finding a parking place. And a $2.75 taco is almost the size of a Big Mac.

Google
Hands down the best mexican food in town. We eat from taco trucks on a weekly basis but if we want perfectly delicious mexican food that isnt tacos or burritos, we go here. My favorite is the chicken plate with rice but everything there is delicious. We don't dine in, always take out. They are pretty quick with service too.

I was excited to try this restaurant but unfortunately I was not a fan. First impressions walking in was that it was not the cleanest place and was a bit disorganized. We ordered the food and they brought it to the table. Instead of paying when you order you go back afterwards to pay. This seemed inefficient because we had to wait in line 2x instead of once. The food did have a good flavor but the amount of grease was insane. Also, they didn't have a drink machine so I had to get bottled water. I drink a lot when I eat so that was not satisfactory.

Google
This place is overrated. I always see people saying online (facebook, google reviews, etc.) that they have the best tacos and Mexican food in Lexington, WRONG! The tacos aren't anything special. The meat is sometimes not even seasoned well, the meat and food is too greasy, the tortillas always fall apart along with the rest of the taco. I got carnitas tacos one time and they were super dry and not much flavor at all, and were greasy of course. How can the meat be greasy and dry at the same time?!! The place seems nasty, and disorganized inside too. The people who own and run this place seem kind of lazy. There are WAY better places in Lexington to get tacos, quesadillas, sopes, gorditas, tortas, etc. Plenty of taco trucks all around versailles road/Alexandria, and North new circle area that have better food. I won't be back to this place.

Google
Never disappoints! The most authentic and delicious Mexican food in Lexington. Affordable prices and large portions! Thanks for always hitting the mark

Google
Best tacos I’ve had in Lexington! 4 Asada tacos and an horchata with a side of beans and rice made for a perfect lunch.

Google
Great service, fast and delicious; I highly recommend if you’re In the area! They also have great homemade salsas that you should def ask for if you like spice. Solid cheap price for a great serving size portion of food. This is one of those hole-in-the-wall GEMS; It’s a local, family owned one of one kinda place. You’re getting delicious authentic food at a great price but not coming here for atmosphere though they do have seating inside. Food doesn’t take longer then 5-10 min for pick up regularly and 15 min at peak business hours.

Google
I’ve been here a couple times for the chicken burrito and steak burrito. Both were great, I prefer the chicken. Very friendly service, great food and great horchata!

Yelp
Best tacos in town. Service is super fast and the place is authentic as it gets. Love sitting on the curb out front with friends.

Phill H.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican Cuisine establishment! The interior of the joint isn't super modern that's why I'll give it 4 stars. It has a family feel. It has Lots of unique dishes not offered by other Mexican restaurant. Many of patrons frequenting the establishment at least when I visited on a Sunday. It's pretty much self service with only a few English speaking staff. Great place if you are seeking genuine Mexican food!

Dee H.

Yelp
So glad to finally get to this wonderful spot! Yummy food, excellent service, and a nice selection of grocery items. Highly recommend the carne asada tacos and the horchata. And if you're looking for salsa, check the ketchup and mustard bottles on the table. Lol :)

Haley H.

Yelp
Got takeout from here while on a road trip. We got a chicken burrito and a carne asada burrito. Both were tasty. Both salsas were very liquid-y and there weren't many chunks. Just a different style than I am used to but I enjoyed the spiciness of the red salsa. We would stop here again but probably not for takeout. It seems like it would be a better experience to sit down and eat the food immediately while it was hot and order sides and some tacos. All the staff was polite!

Gerald W.

Yelp
I had not been in a while. I have no excuse. The grande burrito was fantastic as I recalled. There were a few people coming and going at dinner time. The place is very simple yet well kept and well lit and this is still one of the best Taquerias around. The food tells the story.

Mike D.

Yelp
The tacos and burrito I ordered to go was quickly and sloppily slapped together, didn't taste fresh, wasn't hot, and the meat was rubbery with little to no flavor or spice (poor food). The place looks like a dump (poor ambiance) and the lady who handed me my order sounded grumpy (poor service). I recommend finding a Mexican taco truck near you that you like than ever stepping foot in Ramirez. I don't know what the hype is about. 4.7 star rating?

Diala A.

Yelp
If you want a bangin' burrito, make your way to Tortillería y Taquería Ramirez because it is AWESOME! The service was very friendly and welcoming, the ambiance was very chill and low key (it's unassuming on the outside but don't let it sway you because these burritos are INCREDIBLE!). My boyfriend and I got horchata and pineapple drinks that were delicious and paired well with our burritos. My boyfriend had the carnitas and I had the barbacoa burrito - both were very delicious. I think next time I will opt for the carnita though just because it's flavor was so epic! 12/10 will be returning and recommending to friends!

Amanda A.

Yelp
The food and service were fantastic. The portions were large and the cheese dip was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Carla G.

Yelp
Low key, good eats. Authentic Mexican food. Menudo served all week. Booth and table seating. Small place but great food and prices. You can order at the counter and they will bring your food. No beer or alcohol. Self serve drinks from the fridge. Very nice people working here. I have been going here for years and everything on the menu is good.

Juli R.

Yelp
Wonderful authentic food, great service great tortillas to bring home available for purchase

Josh F.

Yelp
A favorite in Lexington. Authentic, delicious food. Somehow always tastes better with a Mexican coke from the fridge.

Emma W.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in town, by far. Delicious every time. Prices are unbeatable, and the portions are huge! A "chico" burrito is really a large. You order at the counter, and service is always friendly and the food is ready quickly. Definitely need to try more of their menu, but I do love their asada burrito. Aguas frescas are great as well, and you have to try their salsa verde!

steve a.

Yelp
Don't let the rough look of this restaurant discourage you from trying this place. This is the real deal Mexican at an affordable price. They have an extensive menu of common and not so common Mexican dishes. They are all excellent. I had three different tacos all of which were flavorful on home made corn tortillas. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a try when in Lexington.

MaryLinda W.

Yelp
After hearing this place featured in a podcast, I knew that we had to stop here! One of the details that intrigued me from the podcast is their use of Kentucky Proud cornmeal from Weisenberger Mills to make the tortillas. Growing up eating Mexican food before it was fashionable, I rarely, if ever, had fresh tortillas. Getting to have some made with quality local ingredients sounds like a winner. We stopped here for an early supper after some grocery shopping in Lexington. Hubby ordered a burrito, while I had a couple of tacos with those house made tortillas. We both enjoyed our food and want to return.

Rachel S.

Yelp
the absolute best tacos ever. i always ask to add cheese to mine, and they are always so delicious :) by far the best taco place in town, mainly bc the ingredients are so fresh and always perfect! i have been here around 45 times at this point and i can confidently recommend to anyone! everyone who works here is so kind as well, they make the experience a good one and service is always quick!

David C.

Yelp
Good food at very good prices. Nice people. Highly recommend to anybody who wants real Mexican.

Brandon H.

Yelp
Favorite place to get authentic food. Service is great. The ambiance is hard to compare to traditional American restaurants but this isn't an American restaurant. Been here 1000 times and will continue to go. I love this place! Try the pastor tacos with horchata!

Malakhi' Father H.

Yelp
best authentic Mexican restaurant in town, hands down. Best al pastor tacos in a 50 mile radius. service is great as well. been here over 100 times, and not one bad experienc.

Tony M.

Yelp
If you like authentic mexican food, then you have found the place. The food was amazing. Honestly reminded menof the food i grew up with my grandmother doing the cooking. I cant give it enough stars.

Brian A.

Yelp
Was recommended to try this place because I've been looking for some legit Mexican food in Kentucky, since I was in the area I was finally able to stop by. So far this one is the #1 place I've been to in Kentucky. The whole area is kind of a "Little Mexico" with all the shops, so we need to try some of the other spots as well. I ordered the tripas, pollo, chorizo and carne asada. I'd say the chicken was my least favorite just due to it being shredded, but the flavor was very good!! The tripas were quite good, not as good as my favorite place in Cabo but a close second! I WILL be ordering them probably every time I go back. All and all, highly recommend if you're looking for legit Mexican food in the Lexington area.

Aria H.

Yelp
My bf and I wanted to try a local place and I had heard about this hidden Lexington gem. Completely unpretentious but the food! OMG portion sizes are so big. I had to eat my chicken burrito in two sittings. But the best part honestly is the salsa. I got the "red" and my bf got habanero to go with with steak torta and chicken quesadilla. We were stuffed! Prices were affordable too. Try it and see!

Issam A.

Yelp
Hands down the best Mexican Street Style Tacos in Lexington. This is my go to place when I have a craving for tacos and a quesadilla. My one complaint would be the atmosphere. Some may find it unappealing, but looks can be deceiving. Here you will find food of the highest caliber, the meat is always cooks so well and cooked to perfection. My go to order is two small tacos and a small quesadilla. When you walk up to the counter you are given the choice of different sizes and meets to company your dish. I am an adventurous eater, so I go with the Tongue and Head meet for my taco, while going for the traditional Asada for my Quesadilla. The meat is always juicy, adding the lime and salsa on the side is a great accompaniment. The quesadilla is not what you are going to be used to especially if you get the small size. It can be a bit oily but the flavors of the meat and cheese are a treat, especially when you all the Jalapenos, Sour Cream and Onions I love to add. These come on the side. I would be remised not to talked about the staff, they are always busy but are very accommodating and friendly. I believe this is a family own establishment, but I cannot confirmed this. Please give this place I try a true gem here in Lexington.

Yelp
They raised their Burrito price to $7.99, still a fair price, just not the screaming value it was at $6.50. The Gorditas ($3.50) are also great.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Let me just taco bout our new spot... Totally amazeballs. If you're a taco fiend like me and my husband, this place is absolutely the place too go. Authentic is the first word that comes to mind. Everything tastes so fresh and the tacos are only a couple bucks a piece at best. The drinks are available off to the side and I love that it's bottled. The freshness is so much better than fountain. It's cash only, so come prepared- but the fact that we only spent less than $20 for some bomb tacos, drinks and split a beans and rice plate is amazing. Both the steak and chicken were wonderful but if you are only in the mood for one type- chicken is my pick. I'm normally not even a refried beans fan but I loved theirs. So much goodness!!

Yelp
Love them prices are nearly unbeatable... what other place do you know who makes homemade tortillas and you can buy by the bag or box? Let me know if you figure that out! Plus I love supporting family owned!

Jack M.

Yelp
We ordered the lengua burrito. Hey this was some good Mexican food. The meat was well executed. The beans and rice were fresh. And the queso fresco was generously packed in there.

Kevin W.

Yelp
Best Mexican in Lexington. Their meats are full of flavor and fresh, and the orchata is also amazing. We had the burrito and quesadillas which were substantive and filling. The pastor pork was some of the best I've had, on par with taco trucks I've had in LA. Definitely worth a visit!

David G.

Yelp
Finally made a trip out here after hearing it was great. I was skeptical. I'm from California so I've been pretty disappointed by Mexican food in Lexington. I'm happy to report that this isn't the case at Ramirez. I had the grande tacos and they were phenomenal. Salsa could've been better but that is a minor quibble. Truly incredible food. I will be back!

Clayton P.

Yelp
As authentic of a Mexican taqueria as you can get. One of the only places in town that serves cabeza tacos too. Food is delicious and ingredients fresh. Service was a little slower but it was due to the lunch rush plus all food was made to order fresh. There were also multiple Mexican food items lining the shelves and the freezers next to the booths such as coconut water and tortillas. Not the best area of town, but a great spot to go for Sunday afternoon lunch

Ron M.

Yelp
I have been enjoying there Steak Burritos for some time. I usually will call ahead, but they are back open for dine in as well. Their tortillas are made in house I believe.

Dalia A.

Yelp
We got the menudo, sope, Gordita and torta. It was soo good! Will definitely be coming back!

Vyvian N.

Yelp
Amazing food and friendly staff! I've been here 5 times already but today will be my official review. Food: decent menu, front and back of a laminated sheet. they offer tacos, quesadillas, sopes, tortas, and so on. everything is very tasty and well seasoned. I always get lengua tacos, 3 small tacos will fill me up! they go for $1.70 a piece, and $2.50 for large tacos. Parking: it's never really BUSY here, you get serviced fairly quickly and people are always in/out. They have their section of the lot in front of the business. Service: lovely folks, can't complain. go in, order at the side counter in front of the grill or have a seat to be waited on (they're just gonna take your order lol). Space: doubles as a corner store. they sell ice creams, drinks, chips, phone cards, spare ingredients. Pricing: incredibly affordable. you can come in here to get full of less than $10. Overall: 10/10, support this awesome local establishment!

Christina Y.

Yelp
This place is amazing! It's your typical hole in the wall gem! I don't think about or get here often but when I do I'm never disappointed. I'm usually so full they've got to roll me out the door! I've tried a little bit of everything from quesadilla, burritos, tacos, sopas and everything in between even tongue to chicken and haven't met a dish I didn't like. I'm thankful I was introduce to here and that it's still a "hidden gem"

Mollie M.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican restaurant! Every ingredient is prime, perfectly spiced, and fresh. Never had an unripe avocado or a messed up order, and I order here on a weekly basis. Their cheese and refried beans are my favorite, so much flavor! I couldn't recommend this place enough. I actually celebrated my bday here this year so all my friends could get a taste. Bravo to this wonderful place!

Fernie U.

Yelp
I grew up right by Mexico and have had authentic Mexican food my entire life. I moved to Kentucky and Taqueria Ramirez is authentic Mexican food. tastes just like back home. highly recommend.

Lian B.

Yelp
It's so good and bussin I went here to times in a day and if you say it's not get a life gringo

Dorothy B.

Yelp
Ramirez is one of mine and my coworkers' favorite spots to get lunch on takeout saturday at work. For me, they check all the boxes. Consistent, delicious, fresh ingredients and a great value. My go to order is one large pollo burrito and one asada sope. Their chicken and beef are always tender, and well trimmed, i've never stumbled on a piece of gristle. The burrito is massive- which for me is wonderful! You can always cut it in half, but i tend to be anticipating it with too much fervor to leave a shred behind. While many places will flood their burritos with rice and beans and skimp on other fillings, Ramirez has mastered balancing all of the ingredients in their burrito- every bite is perfect. For extra kick i love to drizzle their Verde sauce on between every bite. The sope hits the spot when you want something savory, cheesy, crunchy and creamy. Their prices are great, so i get to enjoy one of my favorite spots pretty frequently. Next time you want a burrito, hit Ramirez!

Angelina I.

Yelp
Burrito and tacos are so good! Horchata is not too sweet. One of the most authentic Mexican spots in Lex

Brian R.

Yelp
We were attending a derby party with a Mexican food theme for Cinco de Mayo, I stopped in here to get fresh tortillas. Walked in and they were working hard pulling them from the machine and bundling together for immediate sale. Couldn't wait for the party before just eating the hot and fresh tortillas. If you're a fan of corn tortillas and live nearby, this the where you should be getting them.

Alexis L.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch. EXCELLENT carnitas tacos, very friendly staff and speedy. Highly recommend. Pro tip: get the "large" taco, worth the splurge

Jeremiah P.

Yelp
If you live in or near Lexington and you love traditional Mexican style tacos, this is the place for you. They make their own corn tortillas which they throw on the grill to cook, you got meat onion and cilantro with a lime on the side and one of three hot sauces. Habanero is my favorite. Of these tacos are offered in Carne Asada, pork, chicken, lengua or tongue, cesos or brain, Cabeza which is the jaw Meat and a few others. My favorite is the cabeza because it is a rich flavorful fatty meat that is like a slow stewed pot roast with tons of flavor. Their quesadillas are good and there burritos or at least 1 pound and stuffed with so much stuff. The folks here are friendly, especially if you are used to eating gringo tacos and text Max, this is the real deal and they will be happy to show you the ways that they eat down in Mexico. These are probably the best tacos I've had.

Lupe M.

Yelp
The best menudo and tacos in Lex even through these tough times they are willing to do anything to make their customers extremely happy

Matt P.

Yelp
Anyone who doesn't send you here for Mexican food in Lexington can't be trusted. I drive 2 and half hours to eat this quite often. Outside of California or Texas this is hands down the best Taqueria. The tortillas I bring home as well. The local corn used in their daily made tortillas are perfection. If you eat at "Local Taco" based out of Nashville over this place I weep for you.

Kathy V.

Yelp
Just...yes. This place. Can I live here? Can they deliver to Louisville? A little Mexican joint at the end of a little strip mall surrounded by Mexican bakeries, groceries and restaurants. You pick out a beverage in the coolers on the side and take a seat. Tacos, tortas, burritos....filled with your choice of meat. You have the usual stuff (had the asada, pastor and carnitas) but you can also get some more adventurous fillings like intestine and brain and tongue. (I tried my friend's intestine taco, too chewy for my taste). And so so so affordable! I got 5 small tacos (think the size of Taco Bell soft shell...but with more meat) and they are $1.50 each. GO HERE. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Samantha C.

Yelp
I love this tortilla shop and restaurant. Food is alway fresh and authentic. They make their own tortillas and there is nothing so good as a fresh hand made tortilla. Yum. Several flavors of aguas frescas (fruity soft drinks) and horchata available. I suggest anything with chorizo or asada for the less adventurous. But they have many choices of fillings including various types of pork, chicken, beef, and tongue and brain. ;) if you eat inside they have three salsas on the table. One is habanero and very hot, one is tomatillo and medium hot, and one is mild. Casual and many other Mexican shops and markets nearby. If you're up for it go to the panaderia after and get a pan dulce (sweet bread pastry). Highly recommended.

Jordan R.

Yelp
I've heard a lot of great things about this place they didn't disappoint, the food was decent I think the biggest flaw would be on me because I didn't grow up eating real Mexican food and so I can't really say I can give it Justice but definitely try them out.

Laura B.

Yelp
We came to Lexington for a cheer competition and found this on our way out. Oh my!!!! We have saved this location for future visits. It was amazing!!!

B P.

Yelp
We had steak, chorizo, and another kind of taco. Had to wait a little but it was worth the wait ! Carry- out of course. Small place, not much to look at but my wife says "maybe the best taco I've ever had ". A business worth supporting!

Andrew B.

Yelp
DELICIOUS tacos. We tried several varieties. So good that we were in Lexington 3 days and had to go back for a 2nd meal. LOVE this place. Super authentic.
