Not a big place but worth the drive. Generally speaking this is always a good choice for quality meals. Service staff is attentive to your dining experience, clearing away empty plates and glasses so your table doesn't resemble to kitchen Sink. I will say the lasagna entree was not particularly special, although touted by our server as one of the better choices. Thus far, each seafood dish we've had has seen better than similar ones at other Italian restaurants.

Google
The lasagna looked wonderful and had high hopes when it was brought out. Unfortunately it was not very good. The flavor was great! There was way too much meat inside of the lasagna on each layer. The service was wonderful though! The pizza is always good here! Just would not get their lasagna ever again.

Google
Very busy Friday night and our first time there. This is actually two separate restaurants with slightly different menus. We ate on the more family side. We ordered lasagna and the cheese tortellini with the garlic knots as an appetizer. Ordered the porker pizza to go. Both main dishes were good and the pizza was delicious. The garlic knots were not good and pricey as 12 cost $10. Unfortunately Our server impacted our meal as everything was late, zero refills and an overall poor attitude. She would not bring our appetizer and we had to get a manager to bring them. I want to go back and try the wood fired pizza on the other side.

Google
This is the best restaurant on this side mountain, hands down. There's basically 2 options for where you'll go 1) the kid-friendly family side 2) more upscale adult-ish side with more sophisticated menu. We haven't ordered wrong on either side. We're grateful it's over here.

Google
3.5 star. I've been here a few times over the years and it's the same thing each time, decent food but kinda steep prices. The gluten free pizza is a more expensive choice, but my complaint was, the charges for adding toppings are fine as long as you get a decent amount of those toppings. It looked like they took 1 slice of ham for the whole 10" pizza. I had to break up jalapeños to get some on each piece. And the spinach we paid for seemed to only be on one side as well. Also the cherry tomatoes were still cold!!! Not going to say Domino's is better quality, but you get more bang for your buck; the one in Hampton Cove will load the heck outta that gluten free Pacific Veggie. Tortoras IS better than Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza though; E & S is very skimpy on toppings (at least the one near Campus 805 was, their pizza was just as costly or even more so and had way less toppings that I paid extra for. It was sad.) Also at Tortoras, my husband's calzone was 65% bread. He had one little scoop of bacon/pepperoni and cheese inside. This is kind of typical for calzones, but just fyi, don't expect fuller ones here. The cheesy bread was also very bready and not so cheesy...very thin layer of cheese. But the bread was decent quality. All in all the food tastes good/seasoned well/good quality... but you've got to know what you're in for with their pricing. We will be back but probably in another year or so! Domino's has been awful about answering the phone so we headed here for a pizza craving. Tortoras quality/seasonings are better but not worth the cost difference for me. I think it was $5-7 more per a 10" gluten free pizza (how I order toppings). So not awful, but that adds up over time.

Google
Great authentic food and reasonable price. Wish they were open for lunch or brunch on the weekends at least

Google
We prefer the wood-fired grill side to the regular pizza side! It has a more upscale, mature vibe, while the other side is more casual and family-friendly. They have fresh flatbread that is simply delicious. I had the pear salad with added grilled chicken, which was very filling.

Venetia Greer

Google
The dessert trio was $16! The two tiny canoli were awful, the terimsu was barely two bites, and the cheesecake was sour. I am so very disappointed 😞! The pizza was decent. But I will never order dessert from here ever again.

Yelp
We have been enjoying this establishment for many years. the food and pizza is always excellent. Today we had the finest grilled Salmon topped with creamy white wine caper sauce, served with pan-roasted potatoes & sautéed spinach. This Is the best Salmon dish in the area hands down and if you want real authentic pizza, or a calzone, there is no other place in Huntsville like Tortoras!

Yelp
Ordered pizza and meatballs for takeout tonight and it a much better experience than my last one! I got a build your own pizza, 16" and it was really good! The meatballs were also fantastic!

Yelp
We have been getting takeout pizza at Tortora's off and on for 10 years and one thing has been consistent and that's the inconsistency of the quality of the pizza we get there. Sometimes it's the best pizza in the Huntsville area. Everything about it is perfect. Other times it's a waste of money due to the pizza being dried out, burned, half the size it should be or full of charred bubbles. Last night was one of those miss nights. Pizza was very small compared to normal and very dry.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Open from 4:30 - 8?? Tried a pizza tonight finally after finding them open and wished they would have been closed - I'll call dominos next time.

Dani M.

Yelp
Very Disappointed - If you are looking for a family friendly restaurant Tortoras is NOT the place. While they may offer provide great food and friendly service it isn't for everyone as they do not they do not have high chairs so unless you have an infant you will need to dine with child in arms.

Yelp
The only nice(ish) restaurant in the area and we LOVE the fact that they separate the families with kids and the adults into two separate restaurants. I wish other places would do this as well. Very good service, decent drinks and good, reasonably priced food. We REALLY like this place!

Michael H.

Yelp
Busy but seated quickly and waiteress was friendly and attentive. Food was great and served at a reasonable time being all seats were packed. Would recommend them highly.

Lynne W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere Wonderful service Delish food- salad, pasta & pizza Great neighborhood restaurant

Yelp
Wanted to try a local Italian restaurant. It was fairly busy for a weekday, so thought it would be great. Calamari was cooked to beyond crispy. Pizza was tasteless. Special of pasta zetty? ( can't remember) had bacon & was a tortellini dish which was flavorful. Disappointed that they didn't have cannoli or eggplant. Pretty meh experience. Probably won't be back.

Rita B.

Yelp
Wood fired pizza is excellent! As I understand it you can only get this in the bar. Ohhhhhhh soooooo goooood!

Yelp
Tortoras is a locally owned an operated restaurant with amazing service. There is actually two parts to Tortora's, once being more pizza based (their pizza has actually won awards over the last few years such as 2009 Huntsville Times Best Pizza in Northeast Alabama, the 2010 NAPICS "Best of The Midwest" Pizza Contest, and the 2012 al.com/Huntsville Times Best Pizza in Huntsville.) they have happy hour specials, and a menu full of delicious appetizers and entrees. I ordered the spicy shrimp pasta Alfredo, which has sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, shrimp, and penne pasta in a creamy spicy Alfredo sauce. This dish went above all expectations for sure. The spice of the Alfredo sauce was just a perfect amount of heat and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The fried ravioli was also a delicious touch with the marinara sauce. If you get a dessert and want something that is a guilty pleasure get the loaded Zeppoles. It's like deep fried pizza dough rolled in powdered sugar and topped with a variety of delicious toppings, like a funnel cake on steroids. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating which was really nice. The outdoor patio is screen in and has heaters/fans for those chill nights or warm nights. Tortoras was such a great experience and anytime I am in that area I will be back! Everything was delicious and the service was spectacular!

Yelp
This was our first trip to Tortora's. Every thing we ordered was absolutely delicious! Our waitress, Carla, went above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant dining experience. We had fettuccine alfredo, tortellini carbonara, and the Tuscan chicken pizza. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Food choices are really good. Always prepared well. The staff is friendly and efficient. The ambiance is that of a neighborhood restaurant. We always feel at home here. The fifth star is reserved for lack of a full schedule. Their business hours are too short. We would go more often if they were open when we could go.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Italian restaurant in Huntsville by far. The wife and I eat here pretty often. The service and food is always great! I will say that Tortora's has 2 sides. One side of the restaurant is "wood fired grill" and the other side is the normal restaurant. I greatly prefer the "wood fired grill" over the normal restaurant. That is mainly based on the atmosphere. Definitely a place to check out!
google avatar

Yelp
Never had a bad meal here. Everything is made fresh. The portions could feed two people easy. Our service was great!

Yelp
Excelelnt Service, excellent food...I try to eat there every time I visit my home state.

Eleanor R.

Yelp
First time here. As a DC native, I have have a time finding good eats like DC. But this place...5 stars. They have a real fire wood bridoven. I order the Grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes and fried...yes fried green beans. Delicious.
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
Our service was decent until I'm assuming the kitchen fell behind. Thereafter, the service dropped off also. My father and I both had the grilled salmon. Last night we were both sick. Maybe it was the cold salmon...who knows. Waited an hour for our food also. So much for a birthday dinner.. won't be back.

Yelp
Meh. I've lived here for 5 years, visited this place 3 times, and have been not impressed each time. The food is meh, at best, service is good. Pizzas are better elsewhere, calzones are not great. I think the only reason why this restaurant is still in business is due to lack of options.

Beth W.

Yelp
One of our favorites!!!!! Always good with great staff. Beth Wheeler Dean, Huntsville, AL

Yelp
The bbq chicken pizza is better than any other pizza around here. Good for watching a football during the week while you're eating.

Yelp
I ordered mashed potatoes kabobs and Brussel sprouts it all tasted the same . It literally had no seasoning zero spice not even salt . Tasted like cardboard . Crappy food for 100.00. The most bland food I've ever had . It also cane out cold . Waiting one hour to get our food . Unless you get a pizza do not eat this bland food . A frozen entree at Publix probably has more flavor. The worst food I've ever had .

Yelp
I and my significant other tried Tortora's out last night. We were in the area on unrelated business and decided to give it a try. We are both trying to cut back on carbs and decided to order the meatball appetizer as a main dish and a side Caesar salad. The food was out pretty quick but the server only brought one plate of meatballs. I thought perhaps she was going back for the second plate, instead she went to the front of the restaurant and stood there for the remainder of our meal. When she did return she asked how it was while rudely chomping on some gum like a fifties cafe waitress. At this point we had already finished and there was no point complaining. I simply and politely asked for the check. When she brought the check it was "here you go!" No thank you or any other acknowledgment of gratitude. The food was good. The service sucked. I noticed that they have reduced hours due to staffing and open at 4:30 pm. We came in shortly after they opened and hardly anyone was in the restaurant. I get that it's difficult to retain employees at this time. But it is equally as important to not only have a good first impression but retain your customer base. I'm not sure if I will return. I can eat cheaper at Fazolis and have the same quality of customer service.

Yelp
Fantastic spot in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. The food is very good, staff is SUPER and the location is easy to enter / exit from the highway. We've tried other similar restaurants in the area. Tortora's continues to excel. Thank you!!

Yelp
I'm updating my review because I came back and have had great experiences each time. I go to the grille side and usually eat at the bar because it's either just me or me and a girlfriend. Jessie is amazing and I have loved most of the food I've ordered! Glad I gave it another shot.
google avatar

Yelp
Not a pleasant experience including disappointing food. Salad and calamari were not eatable. Pizza was average at best. Not sure it's worth the price vs what you could get from a traditional pizza delivery service.

Suzanne B.

Yelp
Friendly neighborhood restaurant. Great food, great service, great people. Awesome family restaurant.

Yelp
I was semi regular here for about a year. Love the affiliated pizza place next door. I went a few weeks back. They as everyone were doing the Covid seating with a limited menu. We opted to eat out on the patio. It's a nicely decorated place. I've eaten there before and the food was ok. Not this time. I ordered the Lemon Rosemary Chicken with Sautéed Spinach and Mashed potatoes. The food arrived. The person I was with mentioned that theirs was not good. I went for the Sautéed Spinach first. It was undercooked. I though uh oh! Took a bite of the mashed potatoes. Good, not great, but these are hard to screw up. So I moved on to the Chicken. Imagine taking a bite into a block of salt with overpowering seasonings added. It was basically inedible. I was offered and tried some of my friends dish. Cant remember what it was. I told them "The only thing I am jealous of about yours is it doesn't suck as bad as mine. " Then in some sadistic moment I did something wrong. Oh so terribly wrong. Here was this nice person sitting across the table from me and I asked "Would you like to try a bite of mine?" I know folks you're thinking that is so cruel. I guess misery loves company and someone else had to share the pain of eating what I was given. Their face contorted in unimaginable ways. The semi chewed glop of chicken came out of their mouth and hit the plate. Since I was paying adulterous prices for the mess on my plate I ate what I could. If you could take this piece of chicken, throw it into the woods the deer would take a pass on it because it was to salty and hunters put salt blocks for them The waitress did get her fitbit steps in trying to keep my water full. I had my sodium intake for an entire six months. I wished I had driven by. Thrown some money out the window less the cost of a Value Meal at Chik Fil A at them to say I dropped a bunch of money on some food and driven to the Nearby Chik Fil A for a sandwich. May not have been as fancy a place, but it would've been delicious. Not good people. The worst meal I have had this year, by a very long shot. I looked at some other reviews. The most recent seem to be bad. Place fell off a cliff or something. Hey If you guys got a new cook make sure they can actually cook.

Johnny W.

Yelp
We normally get pizza and wings. Overall, It's good food but I think it's a bit expensive for what you get.

Yelp
So, I was excited to eat here. When we got there, it was definitely busy but did not wait long because we got there at 5:30. I will admit, I hated the seating. It was not cozy. It did not feel private. And our waitress got so distracted that she forgot to come back and get our order. She did apologize for doing so and went on to take our orders. I asked for the spicy shrimp pasta. I'm not crazy about penne, so I asked for linguine. She asked me "what is linguine...?" This was really disturbing to be in an Italian restaurant where our waitress had no idea what linguine was. I did manage to hide my shock and ask for angel hair as substitute. We receive our food and I guess that since the spicy shrimp pasta is typically ordered with penne that they serve it on a bowl. But when you sub for long noodles, eating out of a bowl made it a little unstable. But, the food was really good. Just the right amount of pasta. Just the right amount of spice. Delicious sauce. I would come back for that order. We also ordered the gemignani pizza. The pizza was okay. The dough felt a little heavy. It could have probably proofed a little longer. It was acceptable though as the ingredients on top were delicious.

Yelp
A surprisingly excellent find in a small center behind the Publix southeast of Huntsville. It has that neighborhood vibe going, even though it's in the distant Huntsville suburbs, with the place centered around a bar. Solid selection of brews, many from Alabama. Cocktails sounded inventive but we passed for the beer. Pizza is the deal here but we opted for pasta dishes. I was impressed with the chicken cooked tender supplemented with a vodka infused sauce tossed in penne pasta. My colleague went for the spicy shrimp pasta and gave it thumbs up. Also liked the fried Brussels sprouts side--well prepared, not greasy. Kitchen got behind and the food came late but not cold. Maybe they were slammed on pizza orders. Service was attentive, pleasant. Prices fair especially for portions. A solid 4 all the way.

Yelp
Our family goes to Tortora's often. Attentive service and great pizza. The Sidney, Julio and Carlucci are our favorites. Ceasar salad is large enough to share as an appetizer.

Anita C.

Yelp
First time visit. Ordered calamari which was flavorful but slightly chewy. The Tuscan salmon was absolutely wonderful. The spicy shrimp Alfredo was a 9 out 10 and would order again. The only disappointment was the bread served with the entree. It was pizza dough and had very little flavor.

John A.

Yelp
Ate here recently with my wife. The good: We were pleased they had a number of gluten free options and that they had clearly made an effort to address this need. We were also happy there was patio seating available and the young server was attentive. My wife's gluten-free pasta marinara was fine and a good choice. The not so good: I had the baked chicken bowtie pasta, one of the special dishes. The portion was generous, but it was buried in a thick layer of cheese and swimming in a 1/2 inch of soup-like sauce. The chicken was tough and grainy. Very disappointing.

Yelp
Wonderful neighborhood pizza place and wine bar. They have one of those big tiled wood-fired pizza ovens. Great staff. They are doing a big curbside business too, order online. Local owners. Get a Sidney.

Yelp
I am shocked and actually offended they have the audacity to post "Best Pizza in Northern Alabama" on their website. This is actually hands down, without a doubt the worst pizza I've ever had, and I'm including the hard, chalky, Lunchables pizzas from the 90's. We arrived for pick-up, waited for our order, (you'd assume it would be hot since we waited but you'd be wrong). We live 5 minutes away and it was like it had been sitting out for hours. The crust/dough - absolutely awful; hard, semi burnt, dry. The pizza - atrocious; flavorless, cold, and not worth the calories and certainly not the price. The salad wasn't any better. It's the kind where they throw in all the white, watery ends that should just be discarded. Not to mention balsamic dressing for a Greek salad? Just no. I will never be returning here.

Jon M.

Yelp
Visiting the area and had the opportunity to eat here. Had several of the pizza and was not disappointed with any of them. That all tasted delicious. Great food and great service
google avatar

Gemma F.

Yelp
Pretty good pasta and great atmosphere in the bar/restaurant. Would definitely go back!

Tom M.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. I recommend both the pizza and pasta dishes. Great cocktails selection
google avatar

Loly M.

Yelp
Nice ambiance. Food was delicious. We had the Calamari as appetizer, Greek salad, Grilled Salmon and zeppoles for dessert. Hannah was our server- she was great and knowledgeable

Wendy M.

Yelp
Best Italian food in HSV! Really wish they had chicken Marsala on the menu. Wine is amazing, food is so good and of course the staff is the best!
google avatar

Bailey B.

Yelp
Tortora's is some of the best Italian food in Huntsville, and far and away the best place to eat in Hampton Cove. The pizza is tasty and all the pastas I've tried have been delicious. They offer fresh, Mediterranean inspired salads. My favorite dishes are their fried ravioli (almost as good as famous St. Louis fried ravioli!) and their zeppoli, a fried dough dessert drizzled with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. They're a bit like beignets and funnel cake mixed together, and so so so amazing. My only complaint is that the wine list sometimes feels a little lacking. But if you're looking for Italian in Huntsville, Tortora's is the place to go. Lovely atmosphere, good service, and very tasty food.

Yelp
Great curb side pickup available during Covid. So many delicious meals. The cove calzone is one of my favorites paired with the house pear salad.
google avatar

Randolph M.

Yelp
Amazing takeout/pickup! Exceptionally well organized for drive up. Well staffed, all wore masks and respected social distancing. Food was hot and right on time, food was amazing flavor, freshness, and quality. Reminds me of great family-owned restaurants in Trastevre, Rome. Will definitely return!
google avatar

Tom O.

Yelp
Here at food for the price and great service, this is a regular spot for us a couple times a month.
google avatar

April W.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant. The service was top notch and the pizza was amazing! The husband and I had the 16" Tortora's supreme and ordered the kids a 16" pepperoni. It was very rich and fulfilling. We ordered the larger pizzas so we would have enough to take home for dinner. When we were ready to leave the server came and packed the rest of our pizza up for us. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Andy V.

Yelp
Really loved our food here! We came on a busy night, so the pizzeria side of the building was packed. Even so, our waiter was attentive, and the food came out relatively fast. The pizza was so good, probably the best I've had in town so far. It's a very thin crust but is so tasty, and the premium toppings are to die for. My pizza had an Alfredo base, with grilled chicken, goat cheese, red peppers, and torn basil and it was to die for. The fried ravioli was a nice appetizer as well, kind of a fancier mozzarella stick. Can't wait to come back and try the pasta or other entrees, as they looked very good too!

David C.

Yelp
Great neighborhood restaurant. Wood fired pizza oven. I did not know until recently that you could ask for thin crust. It's delicious. The Tuscan Chicken is also very good as is the Salmon.

Angela A.

Yelp
Love their food & Jessie makes the best Italian margarita around. They have a great filet mignon & grilled salmon.
