6 Offbeat Ramen Options to Try Right Now - Eater DC

"The year-old grilled Japanese skewers shop in Woodridge tacked on an unlikely offering inside its basement bar last spring: college dorm staple Cup Noodles. The everyday ramen gets upgraded with roasted pork belly and nitamago, a soft-boiled egg marinated in Momo’s smoky tare. Rotating selections on hand include Myojo Ippei-chan yakisoba and Nongshim’s lobster and shin bowls." - Tierney Plumb

The service was excellent and the sushi was out of this world. The meat was fresh, the grilled meat was outstanding, the wasabi fries are a must, you will order a second one. Many rolls and options to choose, bring friends as it is a great spot. Go down the stairs and it is right in front. Going here next time we visit DC.

(If u are a GW student, u can use your dining dollar, too!) Loved the ramen … i visited Japan 3 times and this ramen was the best, even better than the one i had in Japan 😍 Im not a fan of donkotsu ramen, but this Tokyo ramen was sooooo good! My friend had a spicy one ($16, original is $15) and the soup was good, too! It tasted like a spicy peanut based soup 🤤 The roll was not bad, but it was not filling haha. Maybe next time i will try okonomiyaki instead . Would definitely come back again !!!! ‼️UPDATE FOR 2nd VISIT‼️ : i love this place… this time i tried miso ramen, okonomiyaki&beer. OMG I LOVED OKONOMIYAKI SO MUCHHHH!! I missed this taste😂😂 For miso ramen, honestly i didnt like it.. it was too salty for me :( Just try tokyo ramen cause that was is so good haha

Google
Absolutely fantastic all you can eat with incredible quality and ambiance. I am a frequent visitor to sushi Ohayo, another all you can eat sushi place and after eating at toryumon, it is evident this establishment values presentation and freshness and efficiency. Our waitress was timely and friendly, many options to choose from. I highly recommend adding on the unlimited sashimi for $7. Will most definitely be returning! $41 for 90 min of unlimited food is unbeatable.

Google
The food was decent but nothing exceptional. The ramen, sushi, and hibachi were all just okay, lacking standout flavors. However, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the experience more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating a pleasant dining environment. Overall, it was a good place to visit for the ambiance and service, but the food could have been better.

Google
The all you can eat is a total scam. It’s not a buffet, you have to order everything, there is a 90 minute timer (where ordering and preparation take a solid 30), and you get charged extra for not finishing. Also if one person wants to do it, the whole table has to to prevent sharing. All the sushi are ordered in 8 rolls. They were fine, but not stunning for the price. All this for 35 bucks. The ramen was really salty and oily and had a weird pork taste, like I’m slurping pig oil. (Ramen from all you can eat also comes in full portions). The service is fine, but it’s a really bad deal.

Google
I could swear this isn't my first review of Toryumon, but I can't really argue with Google Maps now can I? I eat here about once a month with a group of colleagues -- and this month, we all agreed to go with the all-you-can-eat sushi. Good grief, I'm full. Also, it was tasty stuff. From the roe to the Spicy Girl Roll (not made with actual spicy girl, I think), we have no notes. I might skip the fried rice, because there's sushi to be eaten. TBH, I'm so full right now that I'm not sure I can say any more. Time to go home. Ah! Money! $35 for the sushi, extra for the giant beer, plus a healthy tip -- and that's still pretty excellent for a DC dinner.

Google
Got the all you can eat dinner, and while I'm not certain I exactly got my money's worth (I just wasn't as hungry as I thought), absolutely everything we ordered was delicious. The chicken karaage came with two delicious dipping sauces and was a much larger order than I was expecting. I would absolutely go back and do this again.

Google
Absolutely awesome place. I went to try their all you can eat sushi for $35 and it was the best AYCE experience I’ve ever had. The rolls were large and extremely good. I immediately ordered three rolls thinking I could easily do 7-8 rolls. After those 3 I ordered 3 more and was quickly brought out 1 of the 3 and knew I needed to tap out at 5 rolls and canceled the order for the 6th roll before they made it. The waitress offered dessert as it’s included with AYCE. I went ahead and ordered cheesecake which was honestly the best slice of cheesecake I’ve probably ever had. 10/10 would recommend and I haven’t had any desire to eat anything the rest of the day 😂 *Also the music was perfect mix of country, pop, r&b etc Good spot for a first date or even solo

Yelp
I've ordered carry out from here a bunch and haven't been disappointed, and now coming and dining in, well let's just say my feelings haven't changed! It's a good place for great food and generously portioned drinks!!! My friend and I ordered: rolls and split the steak and shrimp hibachi! Service was great. I'd come back and I'll definitely keeping ordering from here :)

Yelp
Came here with friends for a late dinner when I was in town. Looked up the reviews of this place and decided to give it a try! The stairs to get down to the restaurant are a little steep but worth the journey to get inside! We ordered a variety of sushi rolls and appetizers (gyoza and shishito peppers). The rolls were delicious, and so were the apps. We had a great time sitting and talking while enjoying some good sushi!

Yelp
We just arrived to DC and we were hungry and looking for something on the healthy side. Food was good, a little bit on the salty side but overall edible. Service was wonderful and the decor was very Zen.

Yelp
I visited this spot with a few friends on September 11th. I got to enjoy the Japchae and the seaweed salad. I didn't particularly like the miso soup. The lychee champagne could be perceived weird by the texture but it was tasty. The pear martini was soooo good. The service lacked a little but eventually all of our needs were met. The place has a nice ambiance and good for lunch with coworkers or a date.

Yelp
We ordered the Ajitama ramen and it was delicious! Service was okay, the waitress seemed a little short with us. We got refills on water consistently, though! An altogether pleasant experience since we had a reservation in advance as well. The sushi roll my friend got was humongous! We came back a year later and I got the Fantastic sushi roll. It lived up to its name and had tuna, salmon, and yellowfish. Quite tasty with the sauce on the side. Their lychee martini is highly alcoholic and very sweet! The ambiance is upscale and nice!

Yelp
My friends and I had dinner here before catching a show at the Kennedy Center and we really enjoyed ourselves! The waitress was very kind and attentive while we were there. We were there during happy hour, which was a nice surprise, as well. We started with the gyoza and the age tofu, both of which were very good. You get more tofu than you see in the photo, I just barely remembered to grab a photo of them because we were hungry sorry. My friend had the chicken hibachi entree which he really enjoyed. I had a Pink Lady roll and a Shrimp Tempura roll, both of which were SO good, especially the Pink Lady roll. The happy hour price really sweetens the deal, too. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back.

Yelp
In a basement on the corner of Pennsylvania and 19th, I met up with a bunch of friends for a night of revelry. Toryumon isn't that easy to find, but once you're there, it's a bright clean space with plenty of options on the menu. We dove into the sushi and sashimi options. Fresh, bright and tasty, lots of variety and something for everyone (I'm looking at you, cooked-only sushi eaters and roll fiends). The folks are friendly, and judging by the number of people filling the space at happy hour, this basement haunt is not a secret. Affordable downtown sushi isn't easy to find, and Toryumon fits the bill.

Yelp
I'll start out this review by saying that I prefer the Arlington location over the DC location. I visited the DC location for the first time this evening, and had an overall okay experience. The staff at the front who greeted us were very friendly, but our server wasn't very friendly. I ordered the sushi dinner (8 pcs assorted nigiri with tuna roll) and it pretty disappointing. I feel like the quality of the fish wasn't all too great, and some of the tuna roll pieces were served already falling apart (especially on the bottom). It wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't worth the price point of $32 (before tax and tip). The Arlington location quality was very fresh and flavorful. Ambiance is nice, dimly lit and spacious area. Most likely won't be returning to this location, which is a shame because DC needs more quality sushi restaurants.

Yelp
It is a nice Japanese restaurant serving creative, delicious dishes. Excellent service and clean environment. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
I'm sorry, but Toryumon Japanese House is probably the worst ramen place we have been to. Their menu offers various apps, salads, soup, sushi/sashimi/rolls, hibachi entrees, various entrees, and ramen. We had heard from a couple of friends that they make the trek to D.C. to just get their ramen fix here - we were curious, so we came here for a later dinner. We ordered: +the Ajitama Ramen - tonkotsu ramen with chashu, scallions, bamboo shoots, soft-boiled eggs, and nori; you can customize the 'fatback', aka the pork oil level, where theres light, regular, rich, and super rich; the hubs opted for the super rich; noodles were cooked al dente, but the broth had no flavor; the fatback did make a slight difference in making it edible; the nitamago was good +Winter Chicken Ramen - this had fried chicken, scallions, egg, bamboo shoots, corn, and nori; the 'fried chicken' looked like a katsu, that didn't even use panko; there was seasoning on the chicken itself and it was super bland; the broth was horrible, as it was like water; the noodles were cooked al dente, and the nitamago egg was good Service was friendly, but we weren't checked in, nor were we asked if we were satisfied with our bowls. Also, while they had plenty of seats, they were seating all parties near the host stand, which was kind of cramped and uncomfortable. Located down the stairs, there is limited metered street parking in the area. Such a super disappointing experience! +awful flavorless ramen +inattentive service +limited metered street parking in the area

Yelp
The Toryumon menu is quite extensive and my group and I were lucky enough to try a bunch of dishes here! I really liked everything we ordered and in general, I give Toryumon a 9/10. I tried the seaweed salad, kaki fry (fried oysters), age tofu (fried tofu), and honey b roll (crab, salmon, avocado, cucumber, and honey). My favorite dishes were the kaki fry and the honey b roll. I love fried oysters in general, but these were so tasty. The oysters didn't taste fishy at all and I really liked the batter. The spicy mayo was also a nice touch - they don't put too much to overpower the oysters themselves. The honey b roll was fresh and the textures mixed together well; the cucumber was crispy, the crab/salmon were buttery and soft, and the honey added the perfect touch of sweetness. I probably would've ordered another one of these if I wasn't so stuffed from the oysters! The seaweed salad was good, pretty standard. The age tofu was also good, but the flavoring wasn't my favorite. The tofu were fried really well though and I appreciated how the coating wasn't too thick. Other members of my party got bulgogi and japchae which came in huge portions. I would love to come back here soon!

Yelp
I like the vibe overall- very cool find in downtown dc during the workday. A little more expensive than I like to spend on lunch. I wish their lunch menu was a little larger and cheaper. However if you're craving ramen it will hit the spot.

Angelynne Z.

Yelp
Ambiance was really nice, service was really nice, wait time was very short, overall nice eating experience. The chicken karaage was nothing too special and weren't all that crispy, but the sauces were able to make up for that a little bit: one of them is like sweet and sour, and the other one was a little in the spicier side. The sushi rolls did not taste very fresh and the seaweed felt a little stale and they were also kind of small, probably wouldn't get again. However, the ramen (not pictured, but we got Ajitama ramen) made up for it. The toppings were good and the slices of chashu tasted really good, and the broth was super rich and the flavor was immaculate. Would totally get the ramen again, but probably not the other stuff.

Yelp
Visited this place for lunch when I was spending a few days with friends. The food is amazing and the sushi is high-quality! Their rolls have excellent portions of rice-to-fish and you get so much flavor out of it. You can really taste the freshness of the fish! The lunch deal for the 2-rolls was so affordable! I believe it was less than $20 which is a really good price for what is usually seen as 2 portions. This place rivals high-end sushi places but feels accessible. It's awesome! The restaurant itself is a little hard to find since it's technically underground. It's looks like a normal restaurant. Gets the job done. Servers are kind and patient. They do close during the middle of the day (between shifts). Just something to be aware of if you're looking to eat her.

Yelp
We picked the restaurant due to its proximity to our hotel on our first evening in town and its reviews on Google and Yelp!. Let me get right down to it. We ordered 4 dishes: 1. Chicken karaage 2. Crispy soft shell crab 3. Yellowtail scallion roll 4. Spicy tuna roll The chicken karaage pieces were really chicken nuggets. The batter was thick, heavy and dense. The meat felt like processed meat instead of meat pieces. Even then, McDonald's Chicken McNuggets would have been better (flavour-wise and texture-wise for chicken nuggets). I finished the whole soft shell crab myself because my husband wouldn't eat any of it after one bite. Similar to the chicken karaage, the batter was rough and heavy. The crab meat was mushy like it had been thawed out after being frozen for a long time. Although there was a huge chunk of yellowtail in each piece of the yellowtail scallion roll, we could not taste the yellowtail, nor the scallion for that matter. The spicy tuna roll was a mush of heavily ground up tuna. The only flavour was a mild spicy mix of something. We blamed ourselves for not trusting our instincts by not walking away when we saw forks on the table upon sitting down. The upside of our dining experience ... it will only get better.

Yelp
Negi ramen and karage were great. The rolls were ok-- some of them took too long to come out. Sushi was lackluster. Ambiance is very casual-- good to come with friends.

Yelp
The sushi (Spicy Salmon Roll, Avocado Roll, and California Roll) was perfect, and the to-go packaging was great! I also ordered the Tokyo Ramen (Thick Wavy, Light), Chicken Katsu Don, and Bulgogi. The main entrees were okay--filling, but not as flavorful as I expected. I'll come back and see if it's different next time. When I arrived, the restaurant was going on break from 3:30pm to 5pm. The receptionist mentioned they take to-go orders but don't seat anyone after 3:15pm until they reopen at 5pm. The receptionist did apologize for the inconvenience. Next time, double-check the hours and call ahead just in case!

Yelp
Had a craving for sushi, and this place came up on Yelp. They have a sign outside advertising happy hour specials. Once I arrived inside, I was pleased to see that the happy hour menu was pretty extensive. Drinks, rolls, and appetizers are on the menu. 2 of my rolls I got were part of the happy hour, but another was not. I actually preferred my 2 happy hour ones. Service was very friendly.
google avatar

Myra C.

Yelp
Not bad. Loved their salad dressing and Jop Chae. Delicious. Tonkatsu Ramen served with a nice portion of chicken. Miso ramen was ok. All portions were generous. Noodles curly and thick .Really filling so pace yourself. Miso ramen broth was very rich, on the saltier side. The ice had a funny taste kind of ruined my Coke.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for a while, so I made a reservation for my wife and I two weeks ago. The happy hour drink and food deals are all great. We had various wonderful items including Bulgogi Buns, Vegetable Gyoza, Seaweed Salad, Haru Malo, Maguro Avocado, and Edamame as well as Truffle Tribeca, Fantastic, Fire and Ice, Philadelphia, and Yellowtail Jalapeño Rolls. Everything was so delicious and among the best sushi and Japanese food we ever had. The sushi rolls were larger than expected so we took a bit home with us that our server packed very well. To drink we ordered a Saketini, Tokyo Iced Tea, a large sake, and a mug of DC Brau which were great. The seating was ample and comfortable but it fills fast so a reservation is a good idea. The restaurant is downstairs from CVS but there is also an accessible entrance to the building with an elevator you can take around the corner. We look forward to returning and trying more of their wonderful menu!

Yelp
Everything we order was fresh and tasty. 5 stars for the food ambiance and service. Will definitely go again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in the heart of Washington DC. I was looking for a restaurant that had both habachi food and ramen for the picky eaters in my group of 7. We showed up without a reservation on a Saturday night and was seated promptly. The staff was very friendly and provided lots of attention. The restaurant itself is located downstairs and had dim lighting which gave it a rather intimate vibe. The cocktails we're also excellent along with the flavor of everything I tried. The prices are also pretty reasonable. I'm looking forward to returning.

Yelp
We were in DC for Christmas and planned to have Founding Farmers. We made reservations weeks in advance and called back to confirm days in advance (see screenshot). Arrived there 20 min before our reservation and told an hour wait "overbooked." We did not want to wait as had plans later in the evening, and located Toryumon. Best thing ever, called said could seat is immediately, and served us the fastest I have ever experienced from a restaurant in Christmas Day. Great experience our daughter loved it! Highly recommend

Yelp
My friends and I loved the service here. They were on it, quickly removing empty plates, refilling our water, and bringing out our food quickly. The food was great too, for the most part. My friends enjoyed their ramen, we all loved the karaage (yum!!), we liked the aged tofu, and my friend enjoyed her salmon and tuna roll (can't remember the name but it was spicy). We didn't really like the salmon skin roll, and I didn't really like the ikura, which I usually love. Karaage - crunchy and flavorful Aged tofu - sweet and a bit crispy at the edges. Must've been caramelized or something. Idk! It was good, though. Salmon and tuna roll - them fish were thicc and spicy, yum! Salmon skin roll - not crispy like I was expecting it to be, wasn't exactly flavorful, and was spicy (which I don't mind). Idk. This one didn't make me go "I'd totally order this again". Ikura, or salmon roe nigiri - them balls were saltier and slimier than I was expecting. *I know, I know.. phrasing. These were fishier than other Ikura I've had. Ask for extra rice if you're gonna get this, lmao. Lastly, my friends raved about their ramen. I didn't try theirs, but I know they kept commenting on them as they ate them. We already want to go back.

Shirley G.

Yelp
Food: hot spicy chicken and spicy ramen. Both have good flavor and spicy. I would recommend. Chicken karaage wasn't the greatest so I suggest skip. Drinks: won't recommend cocktails cos our bloody orange margarita and orange crush seems without any alcohol. Ambiance: it was quite a big place for group gatherings and could be a date night if you don't mind the crowd. It wasn't that bad. We did Uber eat the next day for our dinner cos the weather was killing us. They had BOGO and hence we order Tokyo Ramen. It's all right if you are not picky about a lump of ramen.
google avatar

Adecia P.

Yelp
We came here for happy hour. Mostly apps on happy hr menu. So don't rush if you can't make it. The rolls were delicious and the serving sizes were huge. The bartender Aaron served the best Lychee and Pear Martinis I've ever had. It starts to get very busy at around 7 so I suggest you make a reservation or sit at the bar. Prices are fair and customer service is great.

Yelp
Great ramen, I got the Toryumon ramen. It was spicy but delicious. Appetizers were good. Bao buns were exceptionally fresh, definitely a must

Yelp
This Toryumon branch is rising in my esteem. I ordered for pick up via UberEat at about 11:15 am on a Thursday. They were open at 11 am. Order went through smoothly. When I arrived, I waited briefly and food was ready, well packaged. The Toryumon Miso Ramen is very tasty, with soft boiled egg and fish cake. Presentation was beautiful too. I love that they separate the ingredients (crispy garlic, etc) in a separate tray from the noodle in the soup. This way the dish won't be all messed up when I get home. Combo hibachi (shrimp and scallop) with brown rice was great. The brown rice was actually fried rice, which was nice.

Yelp
I've come here for weekday lunch probably about 10 times. The lunch deals are definitely worth going to. A couple of times, the quality of the fish wasn't fresh but for the most part, great and worth what you are paying for. I always get the sushi sashimi lunch and my colleagues often get the bento box which I definitely think is worth getting. It comes with a great variety of options, large portions, and presentable as well. I've also tried many of the appetizers. I don't think the gyoza is worth getting but the karage tastes good. It's definitely not the most authentic karage I've had but still delicious and perfect portion to share with others. The lunch time can get very full but I've never had to wait. The ambiance is good, nothing too special. And the service is always great!

Yelp
Incredible Ramen!! I've been on the search for a spicy miso ramen that can compare with my favorite place in LA. I've been searching for 4 years and can finally say this is on the same level!! The pork is so tender, it just falls apart in your mouth. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. I got mine "rich" and it was so savory. Steven was my waiter and he was so sweet and attentive. My food came out in great timing too! I had a hard time finding it since maps will direct you into a building. If CVS is on your left, look for the stairs and walk down. Enjoy!

Marie K.

Yelp
Our party of 4 ate dinner there on Oct 5, 2024. We ordered ramen, gyoza, sushi, bulgogi fried rice and tempura (and had desserts, which we expected would be bought frozen and not made in-house, so they are not part of this review). The fried rice, ramen noodles and pan-fried gyoza dumplings were perfectly decent. My two criticisms are: 1. This restaurant does not seem to be authentically Japanese: the dipping sauces for the tempura and gyoza were way too sweet. Gyoza dipping sauce is supposed to be vinegary. The tempura batter was not airy and crunchy as it should be. I also wish to note that the "spicy" ramen was anything but, despite the red color in the bowl. The sushi rice was fine, but Dragon rolls usually contain more eel than the one we were served, which had a lot of avocado and cucumber, and a tiny sliver of unagi, per roll. 2. I was told the restaurant policy was to tack on an 18% gratuity on tables of 4 or more. That was unfortunate, as we were not provided with good service. The server did not smile, did not clear our table of our entree plates before serving dessert, and forgot to give us dessert cutlery. I am usually happy to reward good service, but on this occasion the 18% gratuity felt like an imposition. We will not return to this restaurant.

Yelp
We had seen this place near the White House a couple of times and were intrigued by their ramen reviews. I have to say their ramen is pretty solid in comparison with other ramen houses (even popular ones) in the city. We ordered the Karaage, a seaweed salad, a Tokyo Ramen, and the Toryumon House Ramen. The Karaage was quite good and the ramen was solid! I typically prefer my ramen noodles to be curly and not straight (which this restaurant provides), and I'm not a fan of extremely rich broths. I prefer my broths to be on the lighter side. That being said both ramens were very flavorful particularly the House Ramen - it had a very nice and present garlic flavor that seemed to be absent in my ramen. I think next time I would order the house ramen instead. But the Tokyo was still quite good! On a strange note - the tap water tasted a little strange. You might request a bottled water here. The restaurant is down the stairs next to CVS! You can even pick up a Gong Cha Bubble tea afterward!
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
From the start, the service was great. The front desk employee who took my order was so nice. He made sure to include allergies and any notes on my order. If my review was on the service alone, 5/5 for sure! However, the food was subpar. The sushi didn't taste fresh at all. Tasted like it was previously made and tossed to the side. I've had far better sushi other places. For $20, I was expecting more in quality and quality.

Yelp
Had a craving and found myself here on a windy Friday afternoon after visiting the Hirshhorn exhibit. If my gps hadn't brought me here I wouldn't have seen this place from the street. It's tucked underground behind a CVS and next to a Gong Cha. We were seated immediately and serviced just as fast. The location itself was super cute. Decorated for the holiday and dimly lit to give you privacy. More than enough seating and even had a nice sized bar area. I started with the fried calamari which was served with a sweet chili sauce. Not my preferred with calamari but it was a good pairing. The calamari was really tough (that's why I gave 4 starts instead of 5) and hard to get through. My friend has the shrimp tempura ramen, I had the bulgogi with rice, mushrooms, onions and scallions and we shared some veggie rolls. The veggie rolls were also served with the sweet chilli sauce and they were a good bite. The wrapping was flaky but not tough and the veggies were nicely seasoned. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his ramen and I cannot say enough about the bulgogi. It was perfectly seasoned and the consistency was amazing. Served along with all of the accompaniments and a side of yum yum sauce, it was heaven. I just went yesterday and I've been kicking myself for not taking my leftovers home and am now trying to find a way/reason to go back. Our waitress was extremely attentive and quick with our requests, I will absolutely be back, possibly this week haha.

Yelp
I picked this place to eat before an event at the DAR constitution hall. It was an easy 10 min walk & there were several public parking garage options and street parking spots available on a Friday night. The place was lively & busy but not loud- I hate places where it's hard to hear the conversation at the table. It was filled with young people- I guess students from George Washington U or American U. The service was pleasant & attentive, Food came out fast & hot. We ordered several ramens, chicken karagee, and the hibachi grilled steak. Everyone enjoyed the food- price point was what was expected. No complaints from me!

Yelp
We got sat down immediately. The food came out within 10-15 mins. The staff checked in on us. This place is great if you want to try hibachi, ramen, or sushi. I got the Tokyo ramen, which the broth was very savory, creamy, and garlicky. The bamboo shoots did throw me off with the texture and there were too much scallions. However, the ramen is under $20.

Yelp
I'm Muslim and keep Halal, and because of this I'm pretty restricted in where I can go to, however when I came here I was accommodated fully. Our server (Mindy) helped me order, and the food arrived quickly and was plated very nicely. The restaurant was clean, I enjoyed the food and ambiance greatly, and look forward to returning. Toryumon is Halal-friendly and would recommend to other Muslims looking for something different! Originally came because a friend with gluten intolerance said they accommodated her, would absolutely recommend this place to anyone with allergies since they are so accommodating!

Yelp
Usually this is my favorite sushi spot in DC, but tonight I can only give it 4 stars. Let me start by noting it was a busy night, so if you are planning to come on a weekend evening, make a reservation. We waited a couple of minutes and then we were sat at the bar. No one came to take our order, we had to request a server to come to us. The food and drinks were prepared quickly though. I had the blood orange margarita which was very limey and strong. Good enough to order again on future visits. Out of the rolls I ate, here are my recs: Skip: the kings salmon roll and the yellowtail scallion roll. Both barely had any fish to justify the price. Must haves: the black pepper tuna roll and the otoro roll. Both had plenty of melt i. Your mouth tuna. So good and highly recommend! Overall, the quality of the sushi is still enough to earn 4 stars. Give it a try!

Yelp
Food was definitely worth the price during lunch hours. The restaurant was dark and cozy with fancy vibes. Service was a bit slow as they were busy, but overall, satisfying.

Yelp
Solid place with a vast menu. We almost got the omakase but ended up going with ramen since it was so chilly outside and we wanted something to help warm us up. The staff there is also friendly and we received pretty quick service for our food.

Yelp
There's a lot of food options from sushi, ramen, and fried/sautéed entrees. I had the house ramen, lobster roll, and truffle trifecta. The ramen noodles, egg, and other toppings were perfectly made. The broth was okay, it lacked flavor and was not as spicy as I expected. I thought the sushi was large and filling. The flavor of the lobster roll was okay, but seemed too moist. The truffle trifecta was flavorful, especially because of the truffle. Unfortunately, my girlfriend who ate the majority of the sushi got sick after dinner. We eat a lot of sushi in the DC area and getting sick from Toryumon's sushi was a real downer. This experience makes me think the sushi quality is not top-notch. The restaurant had a nicely decorated, clean, and casual ambiance. The staff members were very nice and quick to serve.

Yelp
I came here with some friends on a Sunday night. I really enjoyed my Tofu Hibachi and the sauce was so good! The fried rice on the side was so flavorful. The best part of the meal was the Tofu though it was so crispy and perfect. The service was pretty fast and it's a nice ambiance overall.

Yelp
Best ramen I've had. I've been to countless ramen places in the states and to be honest they all taste similar to me. But Toryumon's Ajitama Hot Ramen was actually memorable! It had just the right amount of kick and the fatback made a wonderful deep flavor. My 2 friends and I normally order around 10 dishes for us to split, we love to eat good food. Normally waitors love that because of the big tip, but our waitor here asked us if that much food is okay. I thought that was really sweet because they prioritized our health and not wasting food over making more wages. (We never waste food we always finish everything lol) My friends text me in the middle of the night craving the ramen, it really is worth the drive to DC.

Yelp
Came here to satisfy my ramen craving during lunch time. I came just in time before peak hours. It definitely quickly filling up. The ramen is very solid. I tried the tan tan ramen. It's not spicy enough for me, but the broth is good. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
This place was so packed so service was a bit lacking. Not their fault though! I ordered the ramen and did like it. It was not too salty. The pork slices were also thin, so easy to chew. The sushi rolls were good, I liked it better than their nigiri. We ordered a ton of sushi rolls and finished everything before I could take a picture...it's a cute little nice vibe here, pretty down to earth and low key.

Yelp
Great place to eat Japanese "tapas" style bar food and ramen! The service is great and the restaurant has tables to host large groups. Definitely going again to grab an easy low key bite!

Yelp
Probably one of the better places to dine at in the GW area and the only decent ramen place in the vicinity. While it doesn't take me back to Japan or any of my top favorite Ramen places, its location is convenient and it satisfies my ramen cravings. I usually order the Ajitama Ramen. The broth is well simmered to lotus broth--I can taste the richness which can only be done by simmering the broth for hours. I also like that you can customize the fatback on the chashu pork and the type of noodles. I recommend the thick wavy for this type of ramen.
