Legendary South LA Nightclub Burned to The Ground on Wednesday Night | Eater LA

"A former South LA nightclub owned by record producer Lonnie Simmons, this influential R&B, soul, and funk venue helped launch numerous acts and was considered the R&B equivalent of the Roxy Theater. Operating from 1972 into the late 1990s, it regularly showcased up-and-coming stars such as Teena Marie, the Gap Band, Queen Latifah, and Tone Loc; legend holds that Simmons even maintained a small recording studio inside the building. Simmons died in 2019, and in a recent overnight blaze the structure was completely destroyed despite efforts by LA County fire officials." - Mona Holmes

You have to love the team at Total Wine. They are amazing. So very helpful. If you look lost someone will find you and help you find your way. Have any question and they can answer it. Want to try something new, they have suggestions. Customer service isn’t dead, it’s employed at your local Total Wine & More.

Oh my gosh this place has the best customer service ever! Employees are knowledgeable and easy to help us even when we don't know what the heck we are looking for. We loved the tasting classes. Especially the Cognac class, it was great!

Google
(Read the 20+ 1 star poor manager experiences and beraiting language they abuse customers with in the 1 star review section) I had ordered multiple times online before without issue and then drove over to pick up my order. Except for the fact that people park in the curbside pick up spots and then leave their cars to go shopping, (rude and entitled). 1 pm on New Years eve, I fought the ridiculous traffic issue they have with over 1/2 the curbside pick up parking spots filled with empty cars. The response to bring out my order was about 5 min., they were busy. The young guy scanned my drivers license barcode.. loaded a large box and a smaller box in the back of my vehicle. I did not inspect it, it looked right. While drive home, I pulled over and inspected it was the wrong order, not my order but someone else's with cheap wine and tiny bottles of cheap champagne. I immediately called them they bounced me from whoever answered the phone to who they said was the "manager of online sales a man", today I called back and was told the manager was a woman and they have 7 managers.. blah blah.. The "online manager" acted like it was no big deal, it must happen all the time.. he said he would have to drive it over this evening. Knowing I wouldn't be home and it being New Years eve, I said it's not an emergency, he said it's either today or Friday. Well, Friday came and went with their incorrect box sitting outside on the porch for them to pick up. I phone yet again, this time the person answer the phone said she was the store manager. I explained what happened, I asked if my delivery was sitting there waiting to be delivered. I gave her my information, she kept asking for who I spoke too before, I asked couldn't she figure that out looking at the order, since she was the "Manager" couldn't she ask someone.. she said only women were working today. She was bossy, and curt and pulled out all the same customer service run arounds and deflections to take any responsibility for the screw up of her associates. She acted clueless, repeating the same questions.. asking how many items I received.. duh. She had NO INFORMATION concerning the delivery of my order, said they don't deliver.. It was just more of the same attitude the first manager gave me, abusive, snappy, basically rude take it or leave it.. They have more business than they know what to deal with, and made me feel like I am lucky they even take the time to try and figure out how their associates screwed up. Your time & money will be better spent somewhere else, this customer service is a "0". Park Lane parking is horrible which matches the 7 managers or at least the 2 I have had dealings with. AVOID PARK LANE Total Wine & More. There are plenty of just as well stocked liquor stores that treat their customers much better, even carry out the heavy boxes and appreciate your business. Like Goody, Goody.. even Spec's.

Stopped by and had a great conversation with Roy about Spirits. They have Volada Volada. Stop by and grab a bottle and enjoy a great conversation with one of their knowledgeable associates!

Google
Great prices and the nicest employees but its insane that they have 20+ employees and never more than 2 registers open to check out. Its a 10 minute wait half the time. I encourage the manager to go check out the trader joes model of actually having their registers open and not making people wait.

Google
I recently went to this store while visiting Dallas. I wish there was one of these stores near me! What an incredible selection of alcohol and wine. I was there to look at wines, and I have to say it was an incredible selection from every type and style of wine. Every country was represented. There was reasonably priced to expensive world-class wines. There was even very knowledgeable staff roaming the store, ready to help if you needed it. They even had samples in some areas. I just wish I had more time to spend in there!

Google
If you’re looking for all kind of drinks then this is the place. I was looking for Amarula until I got it here. Amarula is from South Africa and it’s really nice drink to have always.

Google
I was sitting and waiting for an employee to come up and ask me about my online order. An employee walked by and I try to get his attention. He goes, Sorry I’m not clocked in and walked off. I would’ve gave it a one star, but all the other employees are very helpful and friendly.

Yelp
I purchased a couple of bottles of Estevinico tequila for a girls night and it was sooo smooth and good! The pricing was great! Not too expensive but tasted expensive! Highly recommend! I got mine at the total wine off hulen st in Fort Worth

Yelp
Well, this Total Wine has the same friendly and helpful service that I have come to expect from every other one that I have been to. There is always someone asking if they can help you find something. The selection here is amazing. I will never forget the first time I went into a Total Wine. HUGE seleciton and very good prices. They always have clean restrooms.

Yelp
Another Total Wine Experience! We like to call Total Wine, Candy Land. Always a treat to shop here...1 for the prices and 2 for pairing a adult beverage with a tasty, restaurant quality meal. Mmmmm & Yummmm!

Yelp
Always has good deals and new spirits to try! This location has plenty of parking. I like that the staff are helpful and can recommend some of their favorites to try.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and clean liquor store. Every time I am in here, I am always greeted by super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Whether you are looking for a new red or a bourbon, the staff will steer you right. I also like their rewards program and have even been lucky enough to win a lottery raffle on a super rare bottle of bourbon! Also, they have rewards that get you $5 gift certs after around $200-$250 in spend. If you are looking for a new place to stock up, look no further than total wine! Pro tip: their curbside service rocks and they have plenty of curbside parking at the front of this location!

Yelp
This is our Go-To store in Allen Texas. Such a WONDERFUL STAFF!!!! Here's the PROBLEM: If you order on-line and use Gift Cards, you're screwed if you have more than one! You go through all the selections and finally have your order ready THEN you go to checkout and have a Gift Card with a few dollars you want to burn up and a larger one to pay the rest, YOU'RE SCREWED!!!! Their antiquated website only allows ONE GIFT CARD!!! WTF? In talking to their "Management" based in Las Vegas, they were nice but clueless! This company needs to accept at least TWO Gift Cards! It's time for them to move into 2025 and have some responsibility to their customers. The staff I talked to locally told me this is a continuing issue, as did their "manager"!!! Catch up or find new web company!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Kate was amazing during the wine tasting class and she knows her stuff. If you want to know more about wine and live to drink go see her!!!

Yelp
The manager Zoey if that's even her real name is a unprofessional mean spirited person I'm not sure how she got her position but customer service isn't her strong suit, I called and asked her check the total price of a expensive cognac and she didn't to go get the price because she was in the back of the store and told me I had to calculate the tax myself when I asked if she could please check because I didn't want to bring the wrong amount of money she raised her voice in frustration and said hold on and quickly put the phone on hold then came back said the price when I said thank you she just hung up in my face and I had other questions so I called back and told her she shouldn't hang up in customers faces and she told me I don't tell her what to do I'm in shock by the level of unprofessionalism that the "manager " has and I will be contacting corporate.

Yelp
Total Wine is a fantastic place with an excellent staff. The only thing that could make it even better is if they started selling the new Red, White & Blue BeatBox variety pack! https://beatboxbeverages.com/pages/contact

Yelp
I ordered alcohol through TW for my wedding this year. Had great communication about our quote specifics and felt like everything was taken care of leading up to our big day. The day of the pickup, our order did not include what we had asked for, as a beer we had included was no longer in stock. We were not made aware of this (as opposed to being informed and picking another beer) and ended up without enough alcohol during our reception. The invoice that was actually paid reflected the order without the beer they neglected to include, so we paid for what we received, though without notice that we now did not have enough. When family members picked up the alcohol and compared the invoice to the actual order, it appeared correct. Even more frustrating was that the store cited that they attempted to call, which we did not have record of, and were not able to answer why this was not discussed via email, as we had requested and had been communicating with them leading up to the pickup. Frustrating situation, so if you are planning on ordering in bulk, please be mindful that there is a potential for a sudden change.

Yelp
This is one of the biggest liquor stores I've ever seen. They have a huge selection of beer, wine, hard, liquor, mixers, and other stuff. The wine pricing is actually very good, plus they offer a 15% discount when you purchase six or more bottles. The staff is always very friendly, and absent to holiday like St. Patrick's Day. The lines are not very long usually.

Yelp
I love this store more than any other kind of store I can think of... hmm. They have everything I am looking for as far as beer, liquor, wine, and cocktail ingredients... I come here about once a month to stock up my bar on everything I need... okay, I am sounding like an alcoholic but oh well! Maybe I am :) My only issue with this store is the layout. It seems disorganized but how they want it I guess. I understand having displays for certain brands near the front, but when they have coke products with some certain whiskeys in the back of the wine section it can make you question their reasoning. I would love to organize the store for them. Even develop catchy marketing signs to advertise certain products in certain areas so it makes sense why that is where it is. I do tend to get lost looking for things when I don't go very often. Total Wine, call me! ;)

Yelp
I was at Total Wine as part of a private event hosted by Yelp Dallas. As we wrapped up the event one of the team members named Roy was waiting outside the door to the private room directing us where to go all on his own just to be helpful. It was then that I struck up a conversation with Roy and we started discussing whiskeys. He shared some great stories of his favorite brands and experiences and then without hesitation offered to show me some of his favorites at the store. I tried two and was blown away by his choice solely based on a few hints at what I like/don't like. Not to mention I could've chatted with Roy forever - so impressed by his knowledge and how much he had to share with me. I excitedly walked out with two new bottles of whiskey but by choice without feeling pressured into buying anything. Roy was just so passionate about his bourbons and whiskeys! Meanwhile he managed to help another customer which got me talking to Jessica who similarly blew me away! She was so nice and also quite knowledgeable. She taught me how to host a "tasting" at home by buying several recommended yellow tag mini bottles. She then showed me a great Pinot for a red white float and later took me to pick up the vodka bottle we'd been tasting at the event. Jessica even walked some of the items up to checkout for me since I didn't have a cart. I've become a loyal fan of Total Wine after tonight's experience - all smiles from the exceptional customer service and authentic, charming team members you employ!

Yelp
Stop by here every time I come thru, which is not often. Great selection, knowledge and friendly staff. Even the customers will share experiences and thoughts about certain beverages. Prices are on spot with the market or below.

Yelp
What a great night we had learning all about the sweet tea vodka from Frenchie Buale.. who knew so many great drinks could be made with it! The proprietors fun and engaging as well as informative as to the various drinks it can be used for. The The food catered by Amy was also delicious. Total wine has great prices on everything you need for a perfect cocktail ! They carry tons of beers and wines as well. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. They often have samples throughout the store to help You try something new as well Special thanks to Frenchie Buale/ Total Wine and Yelp Dallas for a great fine filled informative Elite event!

Yelp
In my top three in Dallas. Selection is great and prices are within acceptable range for MSRP. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Will let you sample some bottles which is pure genius. It has saved me from wasting money and actually helped win my business. Only thing I wish would be more allocated bottles of bourbon available, but then that's a complex issue, supply issues as well as timing.

Yelp
Went for two items that other Total Wines carry and they had neither, this is not the first time. So I went down the street to Spec's, they had both. My last trip to this Total Wine store. I will continue to shop the Total Wine store on Central in Plano.

Yelp
This review is from Tuesday, 4/26. I've been to a few total wines & more since the holidays. Stocking up a few bottles and buying gifts, Ect. I've been to the Oak lawn location a few times because it's convenient, the Miami location when I was out of town over the holidays, Plano North (Preston village) Because they had what I was looking for a few times and did a pick-up, Dallas Park Lane (This location) while I'm out shopping and Allen location But this experience left such a wrong impression at the Dallas Park lane location. Just Wow. I stopped to pick up a few things. Parking is always accessible, with no issues. I go inside and start looking for the selections on my list. I don't see what I'm looking for, and I'm walking around, so I ask a guy for help, and he shows me what aisle the item is, but the shelf is empty, so he scans it and says there's a box he looks for it and he gets something to stand on to reach up and grab the last box that it showed they had in stock. I decided to get two bottles instead of 1 because it seemed like their supply was low could be just at this location, but I figured I get two since I'm here. I thank him, and I move on to pick up the rest. I went to the aisle I needed. However, I can't find the bottle. Honestly, this was where I messed up. I should have stayed with the guy that was stocking the bottles on the shelf instead of bumping into Karl Here it goes. I see Karl, whose name I didn't see at the beginning of this interaction until at the end when I made sure I read it. I see him, so I say excuse me, where do you have xxx I say the name to him. He then says speak up if you want me to hear you. That right, there should have been enough to look for someone else to ask, but nope, i spoke up louder so he could listen to what I said and repeated it. He then repeats it. He looks at me and says well, that bottle is the xxx amount of dollars. The tone he said that bothered me was hint number two, which I bypassed his lovely attitude. And he then says we keep those locked up with a key and walk off. ........... those dots are me trying to process what Karl said as he says it and walks away, so I'm thinking he's showing me what I'm looking for, so I proceed to follow him. He goes into an aisle and says I know those are xxx amount of dollars and locked up. You can't get to them. They are expensive. He then repeats this. Okay, can you show me where they are? I say to him, and my buddy Karl then says, but they're locked and turns to go into another aisle. ..... oh so he's showing me even if he has a bad attitude, is what I'm thinking. Even though I'm getting a bit annoyed with his tone, as he walks to another aisle and stops by another associate who's down on the ground doing something, they are talking, so there's a distance between us. It takes a while, so I step up closer to hear him, and that's when I hear him say the name of what I'm looking for. The person who is now searching on the phone asks him the name, and he starts spelling it. The guy whose search is talking with him. I hear him say the cost again to this associate At no time did KARL say oh, we are out. Oh, this location doesn't have any. Nope nothing, so at this point I'm over it and I'm just going to get someone else to help since Karl is more interested in telling me what an item cost than I'm probably aware of if I'm looking for it. I say it's okay, KARL, and I repeat his name. You have a bad attitude, and you were insulting. I didn't ask you how much it costs or locked up. He then says Okay, i was telling you how much it costs, in a matter-of-fact kind of way, which annoyed me even more, so I told him your attitude stinks. He says okay and you have a good day and smiles. He stays standing where he was, and I walk away to leave i cross another associate who asks me if I need help. I told him, nope, Karl did enough of that. He's so rude. I walked up to the customer service counter, and the two associated standing there asked if I needed help. But at this point I'm upset I gave them the items I had in my hand, which were about four bottles and told tell how rude Karl was, and walked out This is not a location I will be returning to, not even for pickup And just an FYI, if a customer is looking for a specific whiskey, wine, rum Ect whatever, there's a chance they are aware of how much it costs. And there's no need to keep reminding them what it costs. Instead, you should engage them, so they purchase more,

Yelp
I went to Total Wine for the first time ever to get some wine as a gift. I looked at many bottles looking to spend about $100.00 per bottle. I found some nice wines but the price tags said 2018 for $115.00 and 2019 for $75.00 but all the bottles were 2022. I asked the clerk about this and he scanned the wine and it scanned as 2018 at the higher price and same for the 2019. He explained that they must have run out and that this was the replacement. I told him that there is a big difference between a Cabernet being 2 years old and 6 years old, it takes a minimum of 4 years before it should even be opened. I asked him if any available in the stock room and he said probably not. I looked at many bottles of different types of wine all over the store and saw this was the case in over ten instances. The advertised price is for older vintages and the only available is newer vintages and they all scanned as the older vintages. WHAT A CON. NEVER GOING BACK. The state should look into this as it is false advertising.

Yelp
All I wanted to do is buy a bottle of Whistle Pig 12 yr Barrel. Took me 15 minutes to get help from "Customer Service" The guy said he or someone would be over. I waited AGAIN.. finally pushed the service button. Some guy showed up and then asked another guy to do it. This third guy explained that he had to bring it up to the register.. I said I'll meet you there.. he brought if over to Customer Service. The fourth guy at customer service instructed me to go to the register and tell the cashier.. I get to the cashier and tell her.. she walks over to Customer Service and grabs the bottle. INSANE.. Meanwhile two other guy in this "think tank" we're counting bottles in a case.. because, you know.. that's how many adult men it takes to count limited rare bottles of liquid.

Yelp
I always love my experience here, fast and efficient. The great manager Tom helped me the other day, fantastic guy, and things couldn't have been nicer. By the way, I just read a prior review in which the customer was so upset that the Total Wine rep asked them to speak up. Shameful. Hearing impairment and deafness are real. I am the son of a hearing impaired father, and also the husband of a hearing impaired wife. I am on the board of www.dallashearingfoundation.org. We all need to understand that we cannot see communication issues, and be considerate of others. Thank you. Robert

Yelp
Came here for a networking and wine tasting event with the urban league and had an awesome time. All of the staff were super nice, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They made all of us feel at home. The last 45 minutes of our event was the wine tasting and we had the opportunity to sample four wines--two were red and the other two were whites. They had a couple of glasses set up in front of us and we were able to write down the names and types of wines on a sheet that was under the paper. We tried a Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Malbec. I particularly enjoyed the riesling, which was not super buttery on the finish, but was very easy to drink. It was a 2014 Dr. Heidemann's. I plan on returning to Total Wine and buying a bottle very soon. I love that Total Wine has a huge selection of wine, spirits, and beers, but they also have amazing staff that are knowledgeable. I definitely recommend coming here for your next event or next alcohol run.

Yelp
Just placed another delivery order and was reminded of my last one. It was CRA CRA, the 3rd party deliverer picked up my order (over $300) and absconded with it, never delivered to me nor returned to the store. Called the store & the 1st person answered, purporting to be a manager, was not helpful. He said he could not tell me anything as it was out to a 3rd party delivering company. Said it "might" be DoorDash or InstaCart but would not provide any more info to help research or resolve my problem. I called DoorDash (as I am a frequent customer) & Customer Service wanted to help but could not give me information unless they had more info from the store. I conferenced in the store and gratefully this time Owen answered! Owen immediately determined it was InstaCart so we called them, they showed that my order was cancelled. I really needed the delivery for a few outdoor distant dining friends the next day. Even though it was almost closing time, Owen said he would fill a new order if I could pick it up. When I arrived, Owen was waiting at the door and had a parade of 5 staff members ready to deliver my order in style, marching single file to my car, all very galant and courteous!! While that last order was a bit of an exercise in frustration, I trust that it won't happen again and placed another order today. Owen in particular deserves these five stars!!! BTW if you are having trouble finding Diet Cokes, Total Wile has them!!!

Yelp
Prior to moving to here, I would usually just go to Costco to buy some boos. Shortly after settling down, come to find out they have different laws in Dallas, and not all the Costco's offer liquor or have a liquor store attached. I took to Google and a lot of people recommended trying Total Wines. Wow! Was I blown away after stepping into this store. It was wall to wall filled with shelves of all sorts of spirits, and liquors. They have a section of snacks, and there are recommendations which to pair with the type of alcohol, sometimes even the specific brand. I've never seen such a large selection in one place. I've been to a few smaller liquor stores that were decent with wine selection & reviews, but none with decent prices. This place is affordable for the average guy. You don't have to be a pro-athlete, successful attorney, or MD to make a purchase here. The store itself was clean. There were a few tasters going on, but I didn't want to have anything in the afternoon. The employees I encountered seemed happy to work there, and offered help, though I was too distracted and wouldn't know where to start asking questions. I don't always drink boos, but when I do, NOW I know where to buy something with spirit ;).

Yelp
Amazing selection of alcohol. I'd say half of the store is wine and the rest is split in half by beer and spirits. This store is huge and has restrooms and even has a walk in cigar humidifier. The staff is very friendly and offers wine tasting every week and has free memberships that include certain tastings as well as a reward point system. Their prices are the best around, especially for beer or ciders, they're always $1-2 cheaper here then surrounding stores. They offer tons of single beers to try out that range anywhere from $2 to $5 and offer every type that you could imagine. The only minor complaint I have is a lot of other stores that offer single beers allow for you to make your own 6-pack for $10. With the prices here a custom 6-pack is going to run you $18+.

Yelp
Great selections to choose from but it you go in looking for specifics you may not find it but they will help you try to find it or something close to it but I really enjoyed was the taste testing even made a purchase from the tasting

Yelp
Hands down, the best and largest section of beer, wine, and liquor store can offer. This store is like a mega selection for all your spirits needs. They even offer kegs that you can order. We have a kegerator in our house and order our kegs from here. They have wine tasting counter as well as classes/presentations for members. We attended a presentation from Tupps Brewery and learned so much about the beer making process and the different styles of beer they offer. I learned about the differences of IPAs, which I never knew there was an "west coast" style which I don't like, vs "New England" style which I enjoy. This is a great store to look through all the selections for beer, wine, and liquor. If you are looking for something in particular, I'm sure they have it. The friendly, knowledgeable staff can find exactly what you are looking for.

Yelp
Oh. My. God. I loved visiting Total Wine. I loved how there were employees down every aisle. They offered amazing insight to some great wines I had never tried. I love the sticky notes by certain wines. It also provided good insight. The prices were amazing. If you mix and match six wines, it saves you about a buck or two on each bottle. They also offer tastings on Fridays and Saturdays. It allows you to try things you would have never tried. I will return... Probably too often :)

Yelp
Absolutely love Total Wine! I was introduced to loving wine from visiting Total Wine's weekend taste testings when they first opened in Tucson, AZ. I found my favorite Moscato there, a Rinaldi Moscato D'Asti known as Bug Juice. Whenever I am near a Total Wine I always pick up a bottle. The associates are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help recommend something. It's not just wines they carry but also aisle upon aisle of spirits, beers, and cigars. I like to browse the aisles of liquor and see all the interesting flavors and bottle designs. I love the atmosphere and smiling faces when visiting. The cashiers always ask me to become a rewards member but I do not go often enough or live close enough to one to become a member. When you sign up they will send you specials and updates of what is new. I wish they had a Total Wine near me as this is the place to go for your liquor store!

Yelp
Is this a liquor store, or a religious experience? I'm from Milwaukee and we take our drinking very seriously. That said, we have nothing that comes even CLOSE to the selection and expertise (for a wine shop at least) of Total Wine. This place has all the wine. All of it. At varied price points, too. I was on the hunt for a nice Gruner and had no problem finding someone to direct me - he quizzed me as to if I was going to drink it with a meal and upon finding out I'd be drinking it with cheese, he wanted to know the type so I'd get the best match. All that for a $12 bottle? I'm sold! There's even a discount if you mix 6 bottles or buy a case, plus a rewards program. At no point did I even sense any wine snobbery - I felt like the people here are just as happy to guide you to a $8 patio pounder as they are to help you select a $200 trophy bottle. Total Wine, how about opening a location in Milwaukee? Please? Update: Thank you, Wine Gods! A WI location opened two weeks ago. Ask and ye shall receive!

Yelp
This is my go-to beer and wine store although they have hard liquors as well. The selection is excellent. I like the craft beer section the best although my favorites seem to rotate out too quickly. My main complaint about this place is that often I find that the listed shelf price is different from the price at the cashier. Sometimes I call them on it, sometimes not because it entails getting a manager, checking the prices, and then making adjustments. It adds a hassle factor to the trip. It happens just often enough to make me wonder if it is purposeful or not. Maybe they think few will notice or care about .50 or $1 difference. Prices are generally reasonable although for some craft beers I can find a better price at Central Market.

Yelp
I came here & bought some Clase Azul for my husbands bday & stopped in the middle of moving to go pick it up b4 our date & I was so thirsty I got a can sprite, I asked the white man who got my Clase Azul for me if it was okay for me to go ahead & open it. This foo say "if your card goes through." Like y'all white folks funny man. I didn't even say nothing. I'll never come back here cause if you were that concerned if my card was gonna go through you should've just said no & kept that comment. I'll just take my money to the hood next time.

Yelp
Oh yeah, I'm a serious fan of this store! It is huge-almost overwhelming in it's selection of wine, beer and liquor, and it is wonderful. Given the time, I will just wander the wine aisles looking for new things to try. I really appreciate the descriptions of the wine available on the shelves and the info from the staff selections. The staff themselves are always friendly and helpful and have great suggestions. The prices are also good. The parking can be a bit tricky, being next to the Babies R Us and all (coincidence? I think not...), but it is worth getting through the parking lot issues to shop here.

Yelp
This store and it's management is sofa King outdated and not useful for customers. I am 32, and my driver's license expired less than 1 week ago. I had my expired driver's license, with the picture that looks like me, as well as a screenshot of my driver's license renewal, and that wasn't enough to establish my age. "We need a physical piece of paper showing renewal." Ok, Eliot Ness. Thank you for enforcing the 1920 policies of your ridiculous chain. TABC rules are to prevent selling alcohol to minors, not to piss off customers that are of age and can prove it. You suck, and I'll go to Spec's, or the closer, shittier liquor stores, first from now on.

Yelp
This has to be my favorite liquor store! They always have what I need in stock, their online inventory is correct, customer service is always great, and their free tastings are awesome if you want to catch a quick buzz! Lol I go to this one and the one in Arlington and they have both never let me down, if one store doesn't have something then the other always does. You can always meet interesting people in there and this location has a humidor if you are a cigar smoker. The amount of variety is awesome and you can also create lists online. I can't say enough about them, awesome store for any drinking needs!

Yelp
Would like to thank the manager st the Cedar Hill Store. I believe she went above and beyond to resolve a issue today 1/12/2023. Didn't know you had to print out a redemption sheet with the bar code. She took care of the issue over what the reward points would have been. Thank you much for takiing care of a Disabled Veteran.

Yelp
Shameka really made shopping with y'all during the holidays a true displeasure. Wish I would've went to Specs. She was rude. Having side conversations with a Maria employee during our transaction. Not friendly at any point. Seemed to be irritated she had to ring people up. Sincerely one of the rudest employees I've encountered here... a true disappointment

Yelp
So here's the good part. When you walk into Total Wine, you are expecting alcohol to be sold there. There's lots of it!! So to be clear, if you are expecting booze, you will be pleased as the variety is awesome and for wine drinkers like myself, there's LOTS. I prefer the Plano location over this location if service is the question; I honestly feel like they have a better edge on going the extra mile for the customer. That being said, this location is still very well stocked and staffed and can provide with the tools you need to seek your everlasting wine or booze buzz. My experience here has been pleasant and the staff is usually friendly and ready to help. I've had a few limited experiences where some staff members didn't exactly make me feel welcome or were too busy to acknowledge me, but it wasn't enough for me to leave without my big bottle-o-Patron Silver. If I could reach out to the store and give one message it would be a quote from the great "Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure" and I'd say "treat everyone excellent".

Yelp
AMAZING Experiences at this store. Every single person who works here has gone above and beyond to be helpful and is extremely knowledgeable. We have purchased both beer and wine here. The gentlemen in the beer section were able to make recommendations for the single beers based on what we were looking to try- and their suggestions were flawless. Even better yet, are the wine suggestions we have received. Last week, I walked up to an employee and asked for a good red suggestion for someone who does not typically like reds- but rather whites and sweeter whites at that. He suggested 'San Antonio Sweet Red' (made in CA, not TX) and boy was I impressed! This is honestly my favorite red now. At about $13 its not that expensive and really gave me a great sense of trust in their suggestions and opinions. We also asked another gentleman for a suggestion on the spanish wines- as we were looking for a specific type of grape and he knew exactly what he was talking about- especially when the one we wanted to try was already sold out. I would highly suggest this place- and urge you to ask for their recommendations. A true gem!

Yelp
OMG I can totally get lost in in this place. This location is really huge! This place is very well organized. There are employees in every corner if you have a question or need to find something. They even had wine tasting the day I went. They have a huge variety of items from many different kinds of beers to wine to liquor. The prices here are great as we did do a comparison to other locations. This place has plenty of parking space.

Yelp
Remember when you were a little kid, and your mom told you that she was taking you to Toys 'R Us, so you could buy something with your birthday money? Remember the excitement that used to flood through your veins as those automatic doors opened to what seemed like Toy Heaven with unlimited options? In the voice of George Lopez, "You member!". This store is just like that, except for adults. This place is truly the best liquor store in the area. Their selection cannot be beat, and on top of that, they have the best prices as well. They have everything from cheap, no-name brands to bottles greater than $100. Although other stores have similar prices, *cough* Spec's *cough*, you don't have to pay with cash or a debit card to get the lowest price here. If you're lucky, there will be samples throughout where you can try something new before you have to commit to a purchase. On top of that, the staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable. Just tell them what you like, and they will find you something to match your tastes and budget. So far, I've had two recommendations made to me, and both have been real winners. In addition to a great selection, and the lowest prices, they also offer classes/tastings for learning more about wine and beer. All things considered, the best store to fill your liquor cabinets around.

Yelp
Total Wine is all you need for your alcoholic beverage needs, from beer (12 packs of Sierra Nevada for $12) to tequila to whisky to wine to limoncello to vodka to anything else your heart desires, for the best prices in town. It is a large pleasant place to shop, with plenty of service people. Go there, check it out, and prepare to be delighted.

Yelp
After having been to nearby competitor Spec's on a couple of occasions, I thought it was time to check out the other big "booze megamart" in town. Don't let the name "Total Wine" deceive you; yes, they have a huge selection of wine, but they have just about every other alcohol containing beverage as well. We were in search of some bubbly for New Year's Eve, and to get a couple of items for the liquor cabinet. Approaching from the front, one thing that is clear right away is that parking is at somewhat of a premium here, with the lot being shared by several other large tenants of a sizable strip mall. Once inside, it's clear that Total is aiming a little higher on the decor scale than Spec's, but it's also clear that space inside is at a premium as well. With the caveat that it was a busy Saturday, it seemed almost cramped at times, with the shelves being very tall and the aisles narrow. Nonetheless, the layout is nice and you can get where you need to go, you just might have to work at it a bit. We asked for help from a staff member for a recommendation of champagne to go with our pomegranate liquor, and he not only made recommendations, he showed us to a table where some samples were being served. We made our pick, thanked them for their help and headed towards the spirits. On the way, we passed a locked cabinet that contained a $1,200 bottle of 30 year old Macallen whisky; I'd say you really need to be a scotch guy (or gal) to spring for that! Bottom line: Total is a good place to shop, but timing is more important due to the space constraints. If that's not an issue with you, I think you'll find what you need at Total!

Yelp
Total Wine and More won us over recently. We went in on December 20. A Thursday. We were asked by 5 different associates if needed help to find anything specific. All in different areas of the store. LaToya has great knowledge of the white wines selection. Sharon, at checkout was GREAT. She had an amazing sense of humor and really enjoys her job/life. You can tell. Thanks, Sharon. We talked and laughed about our conversation with you on the ride home. Keep being you!

Yelp
Now this is how a wine/liquor store should be. Large, clean, and classy. With plenty of wine from all parts of the world, this store definitely lives up to the first half of its name. But what about the & More? The liquor selection is neatly divided into sections that are clearly labeled (both above the display and overhanging from the aisles like you'd see in a grocery store) making it very easy to navigate. They have a designated booth area similar to what you'd see at HEB or Whole Foods where they often have tastings. The store is also conveniently divided into Beer/Liquor/Wine so you know where to go. The part that is most lacking at Total Wine & More was their mixers. And honestly, that makes me happy. While it might be convenient, mixers are usually overpriced anyway, and if they dedicate that floor space to having a larger selection of what you're really there for (read: alcohol), then that's just a good job by them. That said, they do have the essentials for what you'd need (though I'd have to double check for more exotic items like orgeat syrup). Total Wine & More quickly made its way to the top of my list of go-to liquor stores if I don't mind making a small drive out. Their prices are great, and they have a great selection to choose from. Easily 5 stars for a wine/liquor store in my book.

Yelp
Being new to Dallas, it was weird not being able to buy a bottle of alcohol at any local grocery store. Little did I know, grocery stores only sell beer and wine. I'd have to go to a liquor mart to get hard alcohol or go to Total Wine. I was in the area and decided to stop by to stock up. The bottle I got was way cheaper than a liquor mart I went to a few weeks ago. Would definitely come here since they have a huge selection of stuff and many different sizes to suit your needs.

Yelp
I called the store early afternoon today for a certain asian whiskey before coming there. The lady who I spoke to the phone said that there were 6 bottles left. I asked if I could hold one- she said that I was to not worry and that they would there for sure. I made the hour long trip in traffic only to find that the bottles are not there. They tried searching for the bottles but did so reluctantly. I remained calm and professional but still felt some hostility from the employees. I now have to drive back another hour back home. Total time wasted: 2 hours and 30 minutes with NO whiskey promised. I am disappointed in the lack of professionalism of the employees and the shortcomings of their inventory system. Had the lady whom I spoke with went ahead and held those bottles for me (as I kindly asked), maybe she could have prevented someone from buying out all 6; or maybe she will see that the bottles weren't actually there.

Yelp
Their redeeming quality is their selection of wine and the location isn't bad, but thats about it. The employees don't really want to help you, everyone I interacted with seemed annoyed to assist me, even the guy offering a tastings looked annoyed. The long checkout line was a little worse with employees standing around watching. I can understand a bad employee or two, but when the whole staff is screwing around it's bad leadership.
