9 Stylish London Hotels for Under $300 a Night - AFAR

"Housed in a 1910 Edwardian former municipal building with later art-deco touches, this hotel impresses with a domed skylight, veined columns, a grand marble staircase, and vintage furnishings that evoke mid-century office glamour. The 97 rooms and suites vary dramatically—some retain original fireplaces or include full kitchens—and the hotel is home to the two-Michelin-starred Brazilian‑Italian restaurant Da Terra, while sitting close to cultural draws like the Young V&A and the acclaimed Satan’s Whiskers bar." - Nicholas DeRenzo

"The interiors are spacious enough that the Town Hall is free to embrace a certain spare and minimal contemporary style, the sort of thing that could come off a bit like a space capsule if these rooms weren’t so generously sized. At this size (and inside this historic neoclassical building) the effect is stylish rather than stark. And while Bethnal Green is somewhat peripheral, it’s certainly no suburb — there’s no shortage of city culture here, including more than a few fine restaurants." - MICHELIN Guide

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Mars and Will's wedding at the Town Hall Hotel, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The venue itself is stunning - full of character, with a beautiful blend of art deco architecture and contemporary design. The natural light in the Council Chamber is a dream for photographers, and the variety of textures and tones throughout the building provided endless creative possibilities. Staff were discreet, helpful, and incredibly professional - making sure everything ran smoothly without ever being intrusive. From a photographic perspective, it's rare to find a venue that offers such elegance, flexibility, and atmosphere all in one place. Whether you're planning a wedding or looking for a location that feels both grand and intimate, Town Hall Hotel is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful experience. We had a challenging group in town from the US for my daughter's wedding. Many extra services needed to be filled. The staff was fantastic. Thank you. Add that into a truly unique hotel. Close to the Tube. And every room has its own personality. But first and foremost, the staff! Thank you again.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. I have stayed here 3 times and each time it has gotten worse and worse. This time was the last. This hotel allows older men to bring girls, who are underage, into this hotel. He claimed the girl was his daughter and when asked for some kind of proof that she was his daughter, he got angry and refused to show any proof. I make the clerk 100% right asking for proof - if this was your daughter, would you not want them to do the same? So, management got involved and guess what they did? Apologised for the inconvenience and let him stay which was shocking. Bravo, Town Hall. You just gave a complimentary room to a man soliciting sex from a minor. Absolutely appalling management. Will not return for any price and will make sure any family or friends do not go to this hotel either. 1 star is beyond generous.

Town Hall Hotel is an absolute gem for a wedding. Elegant, full of character, and beautifully designed throughout. The interiors are stunning: rich textures, natural light, and an effortless blend of old and new that makes every photo feel cinematic. The staff are kind, accommodating, and clearly care about creating a smooth, joyful experience for their couples. I photographed a small ceremony and reception here and it felt so personal and full of feeling, the perfect setting for a heartfelt celebration.

Beautiful hotel with lots of original features. The rooms are ok, they’re a good size and decent amenities but there’s hardly any room for storing your clothes and the beds are rock hard!

I would enthusiastically recommend the Town Hall Hotel as a wedding venue - below I detail things that I think really make the team stand out, as well as areas where the hotel has to improve, in case it helps other couples considering the space.||||First off I should say that I had my eye on the THH for several years as a potential event venue having attended some great work events there in the 20-teens. When I decided to propose and we started planning the wedding I looked up reviews of the THH and was surprised to find some really bad ones. It feels like the hotel may have had a few turbulent years where the events team dropped the ball. My concerns were slightly raised when I had a run of talking to a couple of coordinators and then finding they had left abruptly and without leaving useful notes on my event. However, by the time the wedding came around a new team was in situ and I could not recommend them enough. A special thanks to Shirel and Vincenzo for their incredible work.||||Overall I found the team to be totally committed to making the day stand out. It feels like planning your wedding with a friend. Some things the team did that really made me feel like they were working with me rather than simply providing a service:||||• I wanted to change up the standard wedding package a bit and do things differently. I was expecting, from the past reviews, for this to be a protracted negotiation but the team were happy to swap things around and make accommodations - nothing was ever too much trouble.||• I tied specially designed place cards and menus together but when I asked THH to print a couple of tailored menus for vegetarians and people with dietary restrictions to slip under the pre tied place cards and normal menus, Shirel took the time to specially design a menu that echoed my design. I really appreciated the care and attention to detail.||• Instead of making a grand entrance at supper my partner and I led all our guests from the drinks room to the long hall where you host supper. I had placed a mixture of candles at different heights along two long tables. As we were walking down the long corridor to enter I saw that the team had left multiple doors to the hall slightly open to give guests a sneak peak at the beautiful room they were about to enter. I didn’t ask them to do this and I thought it showed that they were really thinking ahead to how guests would feel and trying to enhance the evening.||• On one of our run through calls the team spotted one of my guests could not eat the dessert I had arranged and came up with an alternative solution for me to simply sign off.||• I was very particular about the design of my tables and wanted to decorate them myself. The team set up the tables early so that I could come in and arrange the candles and place-cards at my leisure. Vincenzo even brought us a few glasses of wine to enjoy ourselves while we were doing it.||||More generally, we had an evening wedding in the early spring and I was looking for a venue where people could be warm and dry indoors the whole time but not feel trapped. Weddings at the hotel are spread out over three stunning rooms - if you are looking for a venue with fabulous interiors that lend themselves to a massive range of looks and themes - as well as a stunning backdrop for a range of photos - then the THH should absolutely be on your consideration list. We also made use of the infamous ‘roller wall’ - my partner and I announced after dinner there would be dancing - then the walls of the room seamlessly rolled up to reveal a band playing. The guests jaws dropped - it was just the right amount of theatre. Everyone loved it.||||Areas where the hotel absolutely has to improve however are - perhaps surprisingly - the core hotel bit.||||I would echo other reviewers that some of the bedrooms are looking a bit tired - our suite had grubby marks up the walls and nowhere to hang an evening dress. The AC was also not working which made the room uncomfortable in the full sun. For me though, this event was not about the bedrooms (in fact I was barely in them) so even though I don’t have that classic photo of my dress hanging up its hardly the end of the world.

What I was angry about however is the absolutely appalling organisation of the room booking system. Some things that happened:||||• My partner and I gifted a room to a friend who was travelling far and on constrained finances. I was completely clear on this with the bookings team that the friend was not to be charged. I tried to pay for it as part of the whole wedding payment, for some reason I was not allowed to do this, but I did leave my card details (twice) and asked for a note to be left making clear that we were paying. Our friend was still asked for money when they arrived and had the charge pending on their account for several days after I paid. This was embarrassing.||• My parents paid for their room on arrival but a bill demanding money they had already paid was slipped under their door during the night.||• My sister was told she was a ‘no show’ for her room even though she had checked in - and housekeeping had to clean her room so they must be aware a person had slept there.||• I pre paid for an extra night before the wedding and paid for it at the same time as I paid for the wedding. When my partner and I arrived at the hotel reception the day before they demanded card details and would not believe I had already paid for my room.||• A few days before the wedding the bookings team contacted me with a message so unclear I couldn’t tell what they wanted from me. When I rang them up I had an incredibly confusing conversation. Half way through I had to tell them that they kept on referring to aspects of their software but as I was not trained on their bookings system I did not understand what they wanted or the significance of what they were trying to convey.||||I just cannot understand how a hotel - where the above must be quotidian to them - gets the basics so wrong. There is so much that is truly great and special about THH, why not put effort into getting the foundations of the offer right.||||So in summary - absolutely host your wedding at the THH - you will have a fantastic day, your photographs will look like a Vogue editorial shoot and the guests will feel very special - but get things in writing and be prepared that some of the bits around the edges could be slightly Fawlty Towers.||||Photo Credit: Fiona Kelly

SUMMARY: magnificent hotel, historic charm and completely up-to-date chic suites, superb staff, gym and lovely pool (with skylight), quiet and comfortable, near a lovely park and public transport (and otherwise readily served by various car services). ELEGANT in every way. DETAILS: This was my second stay at Town Hall Hotel (with its apartments and suites, each one unique). Recent reviews have stated that with its amenities and quality, if located in Central London its rooms and suites would readily command thousands of pounds per night. I agree (at the risk of the rates going up, which may be contained solely by its being just slightly off the “tourist track” and in a real London neighborhood). It would be difficult to find a Central London hotel (other than the likes of The Ritz, Langham or Royal Cafe Hotel on Air St), equal to Town Hall in combining (1) original elements of an historic and beautiful building, with (2) unique and stylish, capacious updated elegant suites with chic interior design (together with serious investment in top quality building materials for all the renovated rooms inside the historic building — e.g., solid wide plank wood floors, useful pocket doors, marble flooring, fascinating art books on coffee tables (all without “clutter”)), and (3) staff who are considerate and capable, completing the elegant impression imparted. Staff respond to different guests’ preferences with individualized consideration, and manage financial matters (e.g., reservations and billing) competently and efficiently. Daniel, acting in a managerial position, works particularly tirelessly. Having seen his work ethic, involved in myriad aspects of daily operations, Daniel puts me in mind of only one other property manager I’ve met: at the unique hotel where Queen Elizabeth II preferred to stay when visiting the USA.

We have stayed at the Town Hall several times over the last 9 year and every time we leave we know we will be back. The staff are so incredibly helpful, the space grand with delightful touches of whimsy and the rooms equipped with everything you need (including sky high ceilings and gorgeous MCM furniture). The pool is always a huge hit with our family, it’s such a beautiful and well designed space. We absolutely love Elis - which consistently has served some of the best dishes we have enjoyed anywhere. Seriously we would come for just the Cassava chips. The neighbourhood has retained so much of its east london-ness but has wonderful cafes and restaurants nearby (try Rogue Sarnies and Sado Pizza across the street, right behind Devil’s Whiskers, one of the best cocktail bars in London) foe families there’s two wonderful playgrounds in Weavers’ Field and Pay a visit to the Tita’s coffee cart.

Yelp
not your typical hotel but -- they have housekeeping and water in the room every day. room 208 was fabulous! like a nice apartment. high ceilings, huge windows and a great tub/ bathroom. there is a small room service menu. nespresso in room and i had a mini fridge. some rooms have laundry. the immediate area isn't great but you're a 10 minute walk to great stuff. and a 20 min walk to victoria park! i'd stay again for sure .

Yelp
Nice hotel. Good service. Rooms are nice and the gym is very well equipped with two peloton. Only reason I give it a 4 is because I couldn't find the bar and there was also an underwhelming lobby area. The location is also somewhat suboptimal being 20-30 min from main London. Otherwise it was spacious and recommended

Yelp
The good The hotel is beautiful as it is quite historic in itself. The rooms are pretty upgraded and I even had a washer/dryer (although the dryer didn't do its job very well). There are some amazing food options. Da terra is a Michelin starred restaurant and corner room can hold its own. See my separate reviews to come on those as they were outstanding. I feel like it's a shame the service doesn't consistently match from a hotel staff perspective. Unfortunately, the cons are copied from my direct feedback to them below- 1. Although you are loosely affiliated with Marriott, it is frustrating to not see availability through the Marriott app and have to call to discuss. 2. My company already has a corporate rate which the manager did not honor. Although your website had deals for £150 a night and stay 7, pay 5, my negotiated rate was £175/night including breakfast. The rule of thumb is typically long term stays and loyalty members should always receive the best possible rate. Even if there was a peak time during my stay, that should be a higher rate during that time, not for the entirety of the 6 week stay. 3. When I made the the reservation, I specifically asked if I could check out early without penalty due to the corvid19 virus just breaking. I was reassured by both this person as well as the person who checked me in. Upon checkout, the receptionist said they could not provide a copy of the bill until they verified with the manager that I could check out early. The person on site then said they had to verify with the people I claimed to have spoken to. This in incredibly poor service. 4. Upon calling to follow up from the airport, the manager provided excuses about the staff not being trained to handle these exceptions due to the virus. Regardless, I think charging any type of cancellation fee is absurd when I did stay 1.5 weeks plus pay more than the rate on the website and the complaint above. 5. I went into the corner room for breakfast and provided my room number as it is included with the stay. I asked to simply grab a smoothie to go. It came in a glass with the bill. I asked if I could get it in a to go cup and the small coffee cup was 3/4 full with 2 big pieces of ice where I finished it in 5 gulps. I asked why i was getting a bill and she said smoothies are not included. Because I did not have any breakfast (£15 value) I don't feel like i should've been charged.

Yelp
So pluses: -Room we got is absolutely gorgeous. Huge 1 bedroom in the back. It's quiet, clean, and absolutely perfect. A/C was a HUGE plus. -Gym area is awesome. New machines. -Great location. Easy access to tube and bus stations. Minuses: -I've read on here that the staff just "don't seem to understand you". We've run into this problem twice now. Simple questions like "which floor is the first floor from the lobby" were answered with eyerolls, disdain, and not an actual answer. We figured it out...the first floor is one floor up from the lobby...I also asked "Why was someone trying to enter our room at 6pm?" to which I am still unsure of the answer. When you come and leave, the staff stare at you silently...no good morning, hello, welcome back... So if you want a gorgeous room and have no problem dealing with a little 'tude from the staff, then this place is for you!

Yelp
tl;dr: If I wanted to stay in a disgusting basement suite I would have booked an airbnb, not a 5 star hotel. details: the room they gave me was in the basement. It was full of spiders. The spiders were hanging out by the baseboards and scurrying around. Even without spiders I wouldn't consider staying in a basement luxury / 5 stars. It's gross. The staff refused to move me, and were generally rude. The shower handle was broken. The fridge made a horrible buzzing noise all night. The basement suite had windows (right next to the ceiling, obviously) which looked right out at road level onto a street. Car headlights shone into the suite. The wall next to the bed was covered with decorative panels which weren't joined properly. The centimeter-wide cracks between the panels were full of dust, cobwebs, and of course extra spiders. Overall, a horrible hotel! I can't believe *any* basement suite would be considered 5 star, let alone this one. Complete waste of money.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, the restoration that has been done is amazing. As you walk into the hotel you are greeted by an amazing staircase, which is made of stone and marble. Unfortunately the front desk were not as warm and inviting as you would expect, and did not seem overly willing to help with any requests. Fortunately we had a room down stairs near the pool area as we have an infant and surprisingly you can hearing the wedding and events going on several floors up all through the night so I could not imagine being any closer. So be aware that if it's wedding season you will be up all night even if you are not part of it. The rooms are very spacious! It's amazing to see the original images of each room on the wall to show you what the room looked like before. That's where the pros of the room ended, our bathroom door in one room did not close all the way, and in the other bathroom you could not switch from the hand held shower option, upon calling the front desk we then had maintenance in and out of our room for several hours trying to fix the problem. Unfortunately this was not the only thing broken, our AC also did not work but we did not find that out until the middle of the night when we were slowly baking overnight. We were there for a wedding and the venue, and reception areas are amazing, very grand, open spaces which were perfect for the happy couple. It was advertised online that their was a restaurant and bar area which was perfect as we did not want to venture out to eat with the baby. Upon arriving we find out the restaurant actually closed the night before and the only bar area was in the restaurant. It turns out it was planned renovations and would've closed for a month. Both my wife and I wished it had been mentioned when booking as we would have made different arrangements. It had the potential to be an amazing experience but we were left very disappointed and for the price paid for a room you would expect everything to be perfect.

Yelp
I am a boutique hotel junkie. I find them, memorize everything about them and then count down the days 'til I can cross one off my list. I was thoroughly unimpressed by London's boutique hotel scene. Many were pompous and stuffy or designed by people with a similar aesthetic to my grandparents. Sweet people of course, just not my scene. When I found Townhall, it all clicked. The photos showed literally a former townhall or city building with rooms filled with mid century furniture and not one, but two hotel restaurants with a serious chef to back them up. Maybe my expectations were stretched, but upon checking into my room I felt that someone let all the air out of my balloon. While the location and "concept" were spot on, I was dismayed to find a room that was perpetually sub Saharan hot, located below ground, next to the gym, pool and storage room for housekeeping, which meant that a door was continuously banging closed at all hours- within 10 feet of my room. My room was missing a corkscrew and the milk. I bought my own milk down the street. No big deal. I like my coffee black, but my late night cereal addiction couldn't be met without milk. When I called about the corkscew the woman was pretty accussatory. No, lady I didn't check into your hotel to steal the corkscrew an hour after arriving, to then call and ask you to replace it. I would have appreciated a bit more of a lobby/ communal chill space as well. One of the things I've come to expect from boutique hotels, is that they know their stuff--- in the neighborhood. I must have asked 3-4 different people at the front desk about various restaurants that I had done my homework on but wanted an insider's opinion. None of them knew anything about any of them. I even had one person pull up the website and read to me from it. I'm trying not to be overly beat up about this point. Pause. Nope, it still bothers me. Wish I could have tried either of the restaurants there, but my list of places to hit up in the area was already incredibly long and seemingly untouched after days upon days of noshing. Several of the other reviewers enjoyed the complimentary macaroons. I'm not a die hard macaroon person...I won't comment. My favorite points about this hotel: the enormous safe in the lobby, the large tub in the bath and the optional pair of goldfish for rent for 20p per night.

Yelp
This place is the temple of cool. Firstly, it is a GORGEOUS building. Secondly, it has an absolutely killer restaurant (and separate lounge if you can't swing a reservation). Thirdly, the rooms are large (LARGE!! IN LONDON!!), there is a pool in the basement, and a huge selection of design and fashion magazines to take to your huge room and read on the bed while wearing fuzzy robe and slippers. My husband and I booked a Jr Suite and you can have a chef from Viajante come and COOK FOR YOU IN YOUR ROOM!!! This is the stuff dreams are made of. Town Hall Hotel, you are fabulous - don't change. Please, I'm begging. Oh and by the way, it is incredibly easy to get to London - the tube station is a two block walk and then you're about 15 minutes by train. And you are in a cool part of town with Shoreditch and other lovely neighborhoods in walking distance. Total win.

Yelp
To paraphrase some rapping (and take a creative license): this ain't no ho'tel, no motel, no Holiday Inn... ...this hotel is a beaut. A little off the beaten path (and I say that as a plus), the Town Hall Hotel has been helping people get their ZZZs on since 2010. In addition to the Viajante restaurant, the Corner Room restaurant, and the sleek bar, the Town Hall has many draws. Here's a partial list, with a lot of exclamation points: A pool! A great selection of magazines! Amazingly helpful and thoughtful staff (need a cot? Sure! Need an umbrella to fight off the drizzle? Here's one!) In-room macarons at night (let me re-state: MACARONS!) Awesome art installations set against the refurbished traditionalism of the building itself! Close location to Bethnal Green Tube, conveniently on the Central Line! The rooms are also impressively large by London standards. I stayed in one that had not just a fridge, but a full kitchenette (complete with cupboards stocked with mugs, plates and the ever-important champagne flutes). Yelp note: a place that is thoughtful enough to leave milk in the fridge because you might want it with your coffee starts off on an excellent foot with me.

Yelp
This hotel was the best! I picked this hotel for the last and final destination of my Europe trip. I arrived at the hotel earlier than the check in time but it wasn't a problem because the staff stored my suitcases and gave me a list of things to do around the hotel to kill time. After an afternoon of shopping, I arrived back at the hotel to find that my room was ready. The staff was super accommodating and helpful. Besides going to the swimming pool, I didn't get to explore the hotel... sadly. The continental breakfast.... A MUST! I ordered continental breakfast every morning. The room service was great.... not much of a selection though. They also provide still and sparkling water in the refrigerator. Checking out was a breeze as well. I will definitely be staying here the next time I visit!

Yelp
We went to the launch for this the other night. I hate to be down on THH as the idea is brilliant. and the marble entrance hall to the apartments is spectacular AND I cannot wait to sample the delights of Nuno Mendes when we go to eat at Viajante.. BUT (you knew that was coming, eh?) we just couldn't work out who this is for? Though zone 2, it's a strange place for getting into central london and certainly not the most salubrious of areas. It's pricey too. I'm guessing the selling point is Viajante and that people will want to travel. But up to £2k a night for the one-bedroom apartment, whilst a fantastic idea for private dining/parties, though a genius idea is steep especially considering it;s NOT catered for by Mendes... The hotel rooms are nice enough (they should be at £200 a night) and have everything you need, i'd say they were a bit to minimalist and 'manly' for my tastes, but a hotel room is a hotel room not a home after all... Only time will tell whether it'll fill, or what ideas and offers they'll dream up to get people staying. But here's keeping everything crossed they do, even if it's just for the sake of Viajante!!!

Yelp
I'd highly recommend this hotel to visitors of London - it's in a hip area the rooms are a great deal for a place this beautiful. The service was great and the meal we had there was fantastic. I do remove one star for getting a bit carried away with the super modern design. We all love metal and glass, but a glass view into the room from the toilet is not the best idea for most...

Yelp
This hotel is very hit and miss and it is so much more miss than hit lately. The last time we stayed here there was a dance party in the club next to our room and we were up until 1 am with music blaring. The manager asked us to come back and give gene another chance. This time we booked and were given a lovely room with a bedroom upstairs and huge windows in the back where it was quiet and peaceful. The air conditioning was broken and, with the lofted space, the room was very hot and stuffy. They have now moved us to another room with working air conditioning but it's 1/3 the size and the bed is a double when we had a king. They should not sell rooms in which the amenities don't work and, while I know part of the "charm" of this hotel is that all the rooms are different, I struggle to understand how a duplex room and a small alcove studio are the same category.

Yelp
I have been here twice now. The first time was part of a guided walk around art galleries in the area. The Town Hall Hotel commissioned emerging artists when it first opened and is filled with beautiful and interesting pieces. We were lucky to be shown around the corridors, some of the rooms and even the penthouse. If you are lucky enough to stay the night here you are given a code for some x-rated digital art - what a lovely idea. The "don't disturb" signs are lovely, too, and available for sale as a souvenir. The second visit was in search of the hotel bar. I hadn't even realised this hadn't even opened ... my friend and I walked in on the soft launch. We received the most attentive service with the bar man coming to our table personally to advise us on his concoctions. He certainly knowns what he's doing, we both discovered something new and stayed for seconds. A very civilised night out.

Yelp
For any fan of the mid century modern look this place is an absolute dream. Absolutely gorgeous decor - interiors inspo everywhere you look - with lovely and interesting bits and pieces round every corner. The bar was amazing - great cocktails, lovely staff, zero hipster posturing - and the slick and stylish pool is the cherry on top. Just go already, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Told me at check in that they had no room and I had to go to a room 2 miles away. In a blizzard. I refused so I guess they kicked someone else out. They shoved me down in an underground room which was a strange shape. And the swimming pool was shut. That was the reason I booked the hotel. Refused to contact anyone who had the authority to do anything til the next morning, but did say I could cancel and go somewhere else. Awful awful hotel. Horrible experience on the worst night of the year with tonnes of snow. Terrible customer service.

Yelp
The hotel and restaurant staff gave me quite possibly the best service I've ever received. Every day there was something that they went out of their way to do. It was a treat to have a kitchen and laundry facilities in the room. The rooms are very comfortable, beautiful, spacious.. I will be returning to this hotel.

Yelp
Where to start... I LOVE IT HERE! So much I got hitched to my lovely man here 2 weeks ago. Despite living in East London for the past 6 years, I only found out about this hotel through the Tower Hamlets list of registered wedding venues. Completely hooked by the website, I made an appointment to meet the events manager. I fell in love with the hotel before I walked through the entrance. It's a hidden gem on Cambridge Heath Road. The Viajante cocktail bar is now one of my favourite places to go for a drink and the Corner Room is fab place for chilled out coffee or meal. After months of emails and meetings (yes I was one of those brides!) we planned to have our civil ceremony in the very impressive Council Chamber. After we moved into the Bethnal Hall for drinks followed by the best Afternoon Tea spread ever! Delicious finger sandwiches, mini baguettes, mini crab rolls, scones with clotted cream and jam, macaroons and brownies. We had cute informal tables and cocktail tables so people could mingle and have a proper chat and not be limited to sitting at the same table. There was an amazing barman keeping everyone well watered and shaking up a great cocktail called Rosie Posie. As we wanted a Chinese wedding banquet incorporated into our day, we moved on to another venue in the evening (review to follow this one while I'm on a roll!) The bridal suite was AMAZING! The sunken bath. The lush bathrobes. The comfiest bed! I would like to live in a little wing of the this hotel. I also stayed here the night before the wedding in a 2 bedroom apartment with my bridesmaids. The original features have really been showed at their best along side beautifully picked furniture and modern bits and bobs. The bathrooms are to die for! What was so brilliant about the Town Hall Hotel, was we could have the wedding we wanted. We weren't restricted by what florist we could use or other suppliers, and we didn't have to pick one of the existing wedding packages. Of course being a 1 Michelin star establishment you can only have their catering which is not difficult to go with. Every little detail was taken very seriously and the team were superb! Sylvvia, the events manager was amazing at dealing with all my enquires and questions. The reservations team we fantastic with my complicated booking for various family members. The concierge were super helpful with all the gubbins that I piled in. Kristin and her team were so brilliant on the day itself everyone complimented them for such a flawless day. I really feel my review doesn't do the Town Hall Hotel justice. We had the most beautiful day. I can't wait to have another excuse to go back!

Yelp
Quiet. Huge studio apartment "room" equipped with full kitchen and washer/dryer. Deep tub. Comfortable bed. Really clean. Great breakfast. A little bit further out from London's center than I usually stay, but it was fashion week and no other option. I loved it! Also, I must say the hot water wasn't working properly and Barry, the hotel mechanic, was beyond helpful, even with a full hotel and much to do. He didn't stop until I had hot water! And he was so polite and kind. Town Hall....give Barry a RAISE!!

Yelp
I wrote in a previous review that I would return to Town Hall Hotel for another stay and that's exactly what I did except on my second visit - eight months after the first - I double-downed and stayed eight nights instead of just 4. Good decision? You better believe it. My experience wasn't cheap: 8 nights x $300 = $2,400 investment. What did I get? First off, I upgraded from a studio on my previous visit to a one bedroom apartment which - to be frank - is a lot of space for one person. It is, in fact, two rooms with a large bath. Bed was uber-comfortable queen with crisp white sheets, super soft down pillows and a very comfortable duvet that encouraged me to stay in bed and enjoy the luxury of it all. The living room had a loveseat and chair - small dining table and kitchen (hidden behind doors) with everything you need - from silverware to cooking implements. The bathroom was large with a tub but no stand-alone shower. If I had a complaint it is the tub - a full 2.5 feet off the floor and a little tricky to get in/out of - especially without any handrails. I can definitely imagine someone being a little concerned about slipping/falling while getting into it. The sink - while fine - was a bit small for my taste and the counter space was a little on the small side. I should also say these two bathroom issues were not a problem in my previous smaller room on my first stay - so it all depends on which room you book. That's an issue I had - others might not think about it at all. I think Town Hall Hotel is solid 'value-for-money'. If this hotel was two miles west the rates would be a lot higher than what they are. All told, I had no issues whatsoever. But there are a few things I think need to be remedied for a five star review. 1. Bigger televisions. It's the digital age and the smallish Samsung sets are just a few years too old. These rooms should have fabulous 50"+ televisions with the latest internet options built in - in every the room. 2. The living room furniture - while serviceable - was a bit lacking in comfort. Sitting on the couch for a couple of hours to watch television on the "big" tv in the living room actually became a bit uncomfortable due to the ergonomics of the furniture. Put in some real couches. 3. Area rugs. In my spacious bedroom/living room there were only two small rugs by the bed. The rest of the room is hardwood floors... how about some area-rugs to provide warmth? 4. Free breakfast. To be frank, I think breakfast should be included - even if it's coffee and pastries. But beyond those relatively minor complaints, I didn't have any issues and one of the small things I really enjoyed was the wonderful DAB bedside radio - preprogrammed with all the right stations. I'd love to have that kind of radio at my own home (but we don't have DAB in the U.S.)

Yelp
The Town Hall Hotel is looking good...as soon as you pass the door it's does looks really nice...but I never ever see this low level of service and unpro staff...I got better treatment & customer service when I shop at Tesco... The wedding planner, Mwai Yeboah is the most incompetent person I ever met, but it's not even better when it's come to deal with the big boss Mary Baxter...you can bring any constructive feedback you will never get any "We are sorry, let's try to find a way to do business" which is absolutely great in terms of managing business and opportunity. Actually I am relieved, this the staff working on my wedding? Well I better break a leg right away rather than having that. I also like when those kind of place trying to get Ace Hotel down, when actually Ace Hotel take customer seriously, specially for such great & happy occasion ...a wedding. By the way room are nice. Have a great stay,

Yelp
THE GREED IS BEYOND BELIEF !!!!!! Being a life time platinum member of SPG, obviously a world wide traveller, I feel comfortable in airing my opinions as a good comparison to other major city hotels. I made a reservation at Town Hall however my business plans changed at the last minute and unfortunately I had to cancel my reservation. This cancellation was made 48 minutes after the required 24 hour notice of cancellation. To my amazement the hotel informed me in very blunt terms that I had failed to conform to the 24 hour notification and I would be charged the full amount of 1 night stay should I fail to check in on the arranged date. I tried to reason with the staff but I failed to receive any acceptance of understanding..... the bottom line is that this facility is only interested in GETTING YOUR MONEY and not interested in further customer relationships. Shame on them

Yelp
I will not be staying at this hotel. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything outside from people talking outside to every car that passes. The service was ok and food was not at the level I would of expected for the price. As a silver elite member not impressed

Yelp
Amazing loft style apts a block from the tube. Beautiful! My family of 6 loved it! Every need was met from chilled water awaiting you in the fridge to in-room mixed cocktails! Perfect for a large family. My only issue was that the lounge did not have sleeper sofas. Because of this I had to buy another room for my boys. Their room was amazing too! If not for this, I would have nothing but fantastic remarks.

Yelp
Incredible hotel in East London. Service is top notch, efficient and friendly. It has superb restaurants and bar. They have done a great job decorating this place and restoring the building. Even better, it is very close to one of the hippest parts of town. Room rates are decent for London standards. By far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed.

Yelp
This place is awesome!! The rooms are super modern. Gorgeous marble bathroom. Ipod station. USA and other country plugs in the wall (so no adapter needed!!). Chocolates in the evening! The list goes on... What impressed us the most, however, was how nice everyone was at this hotel. They really go above and beyond to make sure your stay is enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable. You certainly get a great bang for your buck. Especially after staying in central London for a couple days for much more $ and less amenities...I felt guilty not paying more here!! We liked the area because shoreditch was a quick walk or cab ride away. Also this hotel has a michelin starred restaurant attached to it. we unfortunately didnt get a chance to eat there, but the drinks were fantastic. We absolutely loved this hotel and we would stay here again in a heartbeat when back in town!

Yelp
The building itself, in all its modernized imperial splendour, is the key to this hotel's attraction. However, there is more: The Danish Modern furnishings add a tone of cool and continental to the place. Very friendly and helpful staff. Some rooms are apartment style, including a fairly well equipped kitchen - another plus when you need a break from pricey, rich restaurant food. The only critique is that the lower ground rooms are noisy and have a low ceiling. They weren't that bad, but should be less pricey than the upper rooms. Overall ,strongly recommended.

Yelp
Every time there is an event like Wimbledon going on, there is no free room in London except Town Hall hotel, which means I had to stay here a couple of times. Something is very strange about this hotel, starting at the reception I always feel like nobody understands me here, although I never have this problem anywhere else in the world, haha. I found the design of the rooms weird as well, they are all self catered with a laundry washing machine, kitchen, etc. There is no picture or painting or anything on the walls, its basically empty and characterless and the furniture (which is actually nice danish furniture) feels just miss placed in the room. However, the reason to give only one star is because the service at breakfast is terrible and because the A/C in my room regulates down to 18 degrees every night while I sleep, which is freezing cold. Although I reported this problem by phone yo reception, nothing has been done about it except a quick 'we'll look into to'. And that's where we started, not on the same communication length with the staff/reception.

Yelp
Love staying at this hotel! It's a bit off the beaten path but what a gem!

Yelp
"Beware - we were robbed out of the room safe!" My family of 5 recently stayed at the Town Hall Apartments for 4 nights on the last leg of a 2 week trip to Europe. We enjoyed the facility, the staff and upgraded accommodations... HOWEVER, we had issues with our room safe on 2 occasions, only to discover on the day of our departure that $1600 had been STOLEN out of the safe! When we replayed the events that occurred leading up to our discovery, it suddenly seemed curious that our privately programmed safe codes didn't work on two separate occasions. Each time they sent someone to our room with a special key to unlock the safe. We picked a new code, reprogrammed it, only to have it happen again. As we were packing up to go back to the states, we emptied the safe and noticed that our money envelope was significantly deflated. The crook left the $20's but stole all the $100's... We filed a police report and the hotel promised to review security tapes, only to send us an email that they could not find a suspect. That was it. An apology. NO reimbursement. NO resolution. We had already checked out and had no financial recourse. Upon our exit, the cleaning lady confided in us that she has heard that it has happened before to other guests... so BEWARE and leave your valuables next to your dirty laundry or deep within your suitcase or DON'T STAY THERE AT ALL, because the safe is anything BUT SAFE and the hotel is anything but accommodating... even though they and their staff were clearly responsible for our loss.
