The 9 Best Korean Fried Chicken Spots In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Most people are at Town Hof & Thanks Chicken for soju and beer, but there’s a reason that “chicken” is in its name. The chicken is generously battered with an extra thick, crunchy skin that isn’t oily. The habanero-garlic flavor is a must-order—the sweet glaze is dotted with specks of fiery chile. We’d eat a plate on its own, but the combinations with other anju are a better deal. Go for the one with rosé mala tteokbokki—the chewiness of the rice cakes is a nice contrast to the fried chunks of poultry." - cathy park, brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

The 12 Best Bars In Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The name of this hybrid chicken shop and pub is a mouthful, and so is their habanero-garlic fried chicken. The loosely Bavarian-themed space fills up on weekends with tables sharing soju, beer towers, and platters of extra-crunchy fried chicken that manages to leave zero splotches of oil behind. The beer-and-chicken combo is the reason to add Town Hof to your Friday night itinerary, but other anju like rosé mala tteokbokki are great to pick at, too. And the plaza has a spacious parking lot, which is a small miracle for Koreatown that we don’t take for granted." - sylvio martins, cathy park

Google
Ordered a 2 item combo (half and half chicken plus rice cake in rose mara sauce with ramen add on), a half and half chicken order, and a seafood pancake. Our group picked a total of 4 chicken flavors, their original fried chicken, sweet and spicy, habanero garlic chicken, and honey. All of these flavors were very good, the original had a great fried exterior and you could add some of the rose mara sauce from the rice cake to spice it up. The Sweet and spicy chicken was a very light spice, moreso sweet with a syrupy coating on the chicken. The Habanero garlic chicken was spicier if you had a piece of the habanero pepper on it but otherwise, this was an alright choice. The honey chicken was sweet and the syrupy coating was very nice. The rice cake in rose mara sauce with ramen was a mouth watering plate of rice cake, fish cake, glass noodles, and the ramen coated with their creamy and spicy rose mara sauce. This was a big plate to share with a small group. The rice cake and fish cake were chewy and the glass noodles were fun to slurp up. Adding ramen was a good choice as there was plenty of rose mara sauce left to soak up, even some leftover to add to the fried chicken. The seafood pancake was notable for small bite size pieces of calamari and other seafood. It fell apart a bit easily because of the green onion slices that were holding it together. Service was fast, and they were quite patient taking our order. There is a call button installed on the table if you need their attention. The interior is very retro 90s South Korean with brick walls, oversized bench seats and kpop playing in the background. Parking is also adequate with enough above ground parking places. Overall, this is a great place to enjoy a meal with friends together craving Korean style fried chicken.

Google
Their fried chickens were pretty good, and other food that we ordered were just average. They have happy hours until 7 pm.

Google
Fairly good food with a weeknight happy hour from 5pm-7pm for soju and bottled beer. All of the food ordered was tasty. The rosé mala ddeokbokki was an interesting try, but I think I’ll go for the plain rosé or classic next time. The interior is a little lacking in charm, but this is a fine place for casual drinking/eating.

Korean spices wings are very soggy. I like habanero wings. Service is bad. I have to ask for water, bring the checks by myself. They are no staff available enough.

Google
Whoah. How is this place so unspoken of? I’ve never heard of this place until I came here with a friend. Their chicken was some of the best Korean friend chicken I’ve had in ktown. Their 양념 is on pointtt. Lots of seating and TVs too for sports days. The only thing I have against this place is the slow service.

Google
I love this place. The parking is plenty, convenient, and located in a safe & clean Korean plaza. The staff is very kind, attentive, and hospitable, (especially Emily eonni 🥰 thank you for your wonderful service!!) 💕 I ordered the half-half, soy sauce and spicy ones. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly, well-seasoned, well-done and looked so appetizing. I really enjoyed the music here, the retro Korean vibes, overall nice ambiance to hangout with your friends. Wide variety of drink options, Korean snacks, and affordable light midnight foods- on top of their popular yangnyeom tongdak. The side salads paired well with the chicken. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Koreatown area and looking for a trendy place while enjoying the nightlife. Looking forward to come back and take my friends here soon! 😊😊

Google
New discovery for ChiMak place! Nice easy relaxing place, you can practically stay here all night. KFC is top notch and they serve my fav Cass beer. Fried chicken remained crispy even hours after at home. Cool people work here, can’t wait to try again another time, try their other items and bring people looking to experience Ktown.

Yelp
Best Korean Fried Chicken in Town!! No Question! Just tried Town Hof Thanks Chicken and WOW! Definitely the best Korean chicken I've ever had. The flavors are next level and the crispiness?? Unreal..! I highly recommend getting half crispy, half habanero - the perfect balance of spicy and crunchy. Also do not skip the rose mara tteokbokki... it's creamy, spicy, and totally addicting. Tons of parking (major win in LA), super clean space, and the service was kind and fast. Definitely my new go-to K-chicken spot!!

Yelp
This is my go-to bar! Hands down best KFC (Korean Fried Chicken!!) in Ktown. It's so crispy and juicy. I also tried some of their other dishes, like the stir fried sundae (blood sausage) and tteokbokki, which were also yum! But besides the food, I'm here almost every weekend for the vibes. I love a bar that isn't too loud and where I can hang out with my friends as if I'm home. Everyone is super friendly, and because of my many visits I've become close to the owner, Jin, too! Whether you're looking for good food or just a place to hang out with friends for hours, I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I dropped by with my friend to eat some chicken and enjoy some cold beer. They have plenty of parking so that won't be an issue. The interior is very cool and sets a nice vibe. The service was great. The employees and owner are extremely friendly and attentive. They made sure we have everything and asked if we needed anything throughout the visit. Very good service Now on to the food. Koreans know how to fry chicken. Probably one of the best fried chicken iv ever had. 10/10 I definitely recommend trying them out PS: They bring a separate metal container to put the bones in so your plate won't be filled. They also provide gloves so you don't get your hands dirty

Yelp
This place is just amazing. We wandered in here for some drinks after getting dinner nearby and weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised! We were stuffed and came here mainly to drink, but we ended up ordering some wings (unsauced), and I'm so so glad that we did...because the wings are just absolutely amazing. They were fried perfectly and were just *mwah* chefs's kiss delicious. The service is also super quick and super friendly. I think next time we'll just grab dinner here too because the chicken is just so delish.

Jae S.

Yelp
They have great selection of fried chickens, i ordered half fried and half spicy. I would recommend, yum!
google avatar

Yelp
Parking is provided at this casual bar like setting that has TVs with dim lighting. P Portions and prices are as expected. Service is good just make sure you utilize the buzzer. I had high hopes for this place after seeing it on a trustee list. Wings are better than a whole chicken as the whole chicken is mostly batter. Some of the chicken costed with sauce, is soggy. The overall flavor and texture of the chicken is average (but very juicy).

Yelp
Food: 3-4 stars Service: 5 stats Ambiance: 4 stars Not bad, but nothing special. Atmosphere reminded me of old OB Bear, but food wasn't as good as old OB Bear. They had happy hour until 7 pm. Service was nice. They have free garage parking until 9 pm. Chicken was best for me.

Yelp
Kinda pricey but the portions were huge and the quality was great. I loved the soy garlic wings a lot, they were crunchy and not over powering. The corn cheese was so yummy I would have to come back just for that. The kimchi bacon pasta was also very flavorful, I just wished the kimchi was cut a bit more finely. The bacon was a great addition wasn't too salty. The waitstaff was great and the inside was clean. On a Friday night the wait wasn't too long.
google avatar

Gabe C.

Yelp
Please please don't tell anyone about this place! The food is so fresh! The chicken is so crispy and flavorful!! The wait staff is tooo friendly! I wanna keep this place to myself! Don't go! And don't get the garlic honey chicken! Please keep this a secret. Just a warning you'll fall in love. Not to mention parking is free! =0

Yelp
After trying and failing to get a table at Jilli, my friends were really craving fried chicken so after a quick Yelp search we ended up here. It's in a plaza so there is parking. The restaurant is pretty spacious so we were seated right away. The food though was just okay. The cheese corn was good, I'm glad the cheese wasn't torched like in other place because sometimes you get a bad aftertaste that way. The chicken was very mid to me, I've had way better fried chicken. This one was not seasoned enough and I found myself wanting some hot sauce or something. The sauced chicken was pretty good I just wish it had been spicier. I honestly would not go back here but I'm glad we got to check it out and support a small business.

Yelp
One of the first things I like about this place is that they actually have a parking lot and there's a reasonable chance you'll find parking....and it's free! I was there on a Friday evening. It was fairly crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. We started with the half-fried, half-sauced chicken. $28. The half-fried didn't have much flavor at all. It looked really good, but there wasn't much to it. The half-sauced side was much better. Super messy. You'll use a ton of napkins! We had a pitcher of beer. $28. It's a decent-sized pitcher and the beer selection is OK. Large bottled beers were $9.50. For a side dish, we chose the corn cheese. Good. Almost as much cheese as corn. $12 My friend suggested the spicy chicken gizzard. $28. It was by far my favorite part of the meal. I highly recommend it. The service was good and it was very clean. They have a happy hour Monday-Thursday from 5 pm-7 PM. 50% off all Soju and bottled beer. Great deal!

Yelp
Missed dinner and found Thanks Chicken open for a late night takeout meal. Haven't heard of this place but it's definitely overlooked and a hidden gem. The half and half dry and soy garlic sauced fried chicken was delicious. It had that CRUNCH you would expect from Korean fried chicken. The mentaiko pasta was great, too! Pro tip: use the sauce as dipping sauce for your wings. Both dishes are easily shareable! Overall great service and easy parking. Knowing that, we'll definitely dine in next time and try more of the menu!
google avatar

Trinny T.

Yelp
This is probably one of the best and cheapest chicken place in town. For $2x I forgot, you will get 12-14 pieces of chicken. Compared to $17 for 8 wings at b.bq chicken, this is way better and more flavorful I especially love the soy garlic chicken. But my friend likes the original crispy chicken. Both are fantastic tbh
google avatar

Tejal K.

Yelp
My friends and I were craving some juicy Korean wings and this place delivered! The wings were perfectly crispy with the right about of meat on each wing! We also got corn cheese and kimchi pancake, which were both delicious as well!! The service was good as well - they have a button on the table so you can call the server when you need them. The place wasn't too packed when we got there but it seems like a popular spot for late night eats!

Julia C.

Yelp
The staff were really friendly and nice! It was quiet and had a nice atmosphere. My first time there, I got the honey and original fried chicken wings. I liked the honey better. I liked the red sauce he gave for me to try. I wish it was a little cheaper because I'd like to get it more often
google avatar

Kaitline C.

Yelp
Ordered the set menu of 1/2 crispy chicken, 1/2 habanero garlic chicken, rosé mala ddukbokki, and a pitcher of beer which was more than enough for 3 people! Chicken was crispy and tasty, while the ddukbokki had the perfect amount of mala. Service was fast and friendly, it was packed and lively for a Thursday night - chill spot for some chimek w friends! :) Free parking lot, and happy hour on weekdays 4-7pm
google avatar

Yelp
Great fried chicken and "homemade" chips. Hope to come again, but as a lot of things lately, a bit pricey.
google avatar

Louis B.

Yelp
Town Hof and Thanks Children was a good experience overall. I ordered delivery it was my first time trying it and I didn't know what to expect. The chicken was hot and juicy on arrival. The orders of chicken wings does not have an amount of pieces listed. So I over ordered for 3 people. The taste is great and the amount of chicken is plentiful. One order of wings is good for four people.

Edward K.

Yelp
Town hof has always been my go to for korean friend chicken and forever will be. Their garlic habanero chicken is a must try and it is always crispy and sizzling hot from the kitchen. The sweet and spicy unique flavor is something you have never tried. Additionally, their fish roe pasta tastes amazing. Service is great, and is a hot place to hit for a late night drink with friends. As a frequent customer, i love town hof :D
google avatar

Samentha L.

Yelp
I love their chicken. I've tried most of chicken but they are all good as well as other dishes. I always bring my friends to hang out here.
google avatar

Bubba B.

Yelp
Not many places open late but not here! Great late night chimaek spot with 50% off drinks M-R 5-7PM, If you're craving some outstanding fried chicken+ beer and/or soju, this is a a nice find with tons of free parking located in a strip mall. While it may seem pricey it's because every dish is meant to share with multiple people. It was just two of us and we ordered the original whole chicken and couldn't finish 1/3 of it. What's great is they bring you everything as soon as you sit down, barely water, popcorn, plates, utensils, radish, and you have a buzzer to call for service if needed. Ryan was a terrific server and host too. We'll be back and bring friends!
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Look past that overly complicated restaurant name and realize this place has great wings, fried chicken and is a great spot to watch the Dodgers game and hang out with some homies. Id say everything was on point we tried except the fried whole chicken. That was kinda dry, dry like my last relationship, so I'd def pass on it the next time around. The wings hit though, harder than Kirk Gibson in 1988. Thanks Town Hof and Thanks Chicken!
google avatar

da e.

Yelp
This bar is 100% same as korean bar in South Korea. I highly recommend habanero chicken and rose mala rice cake. The chicken is so crispy and garlic sauce makes it more juicy. Red and green pepper taste like spicy and burning so if you arent a big fan of spicy food I dont recommend lol
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
The definition of a hidden gem! Loved the chicken and tteokbokki, food is incredibly comforting! Great place to go with a group of friends have some beer and share a bunch of food. Service could have been a little faster but all the servers were nice and accommodating.

Yelp
A good place Kind crews Taste real good! Best chics in k town ----------------/------/-- ----/////////////

Yelp
If you are pregaming for a night out in Ktown this is the spot. Food 5/5 We ordered the mala rose tteokbokki and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. We also ordered the half fried chicken and half jalapeño chicken and it was so yummy!!!! The fried chicken was super crispy and tender and the jalapeño chicken was the perfectly spicy and seasoned. The chicken radish was refreshing and crispy too! Service 5/5 Our server Eric was GREAT. Super friendly and super funny. He was really quick with service and getting us anything we needed. Definitely will be coming back to try the other dishes!
google avatar

Lady B.

Yelp
Omg my holy grail kfc in LA! Crispy crunchy goodness. My only failure was that I didn't just ask for the sauce garlic habanero sauce on the side. It's really good and spicy but it's also sweet and very saucy. Next time I'd ask for it on the side and dip my wings in it. Absolutely worth the price + massive Uber eats delivery fee. Lol. I'll be back!

Yelp
Service: 5 Food: 5 Came here on a Friday night post climbing. Right when we walked in we were welcomed. The server was very nice. He told us which dish was their most popular dishes. We ordered what he recommended the half and half baked and sauce chicken and the rose Mara topokki. Half baked half sauced: 5 You got a full chicken but half is sauced and half is naked. The crispness on the chicken was prefect. The breaking was flavorful but not overpowering. Our server recommended that we use the half naked chicken and dip it in the sauce from the topokki. Rose Mara topokki: 5 I really love topokki! They gave you a good amount of fish cake and rice cakes. I did add ramen to it because there was a lot of extra sauce. The sauce had a creaminess to it that reminded me of an uni pasta with roe. It had a nice kick to it. I would definitely order this dish again.
google avatar

Mei Z.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Their soy and garlic wings were perfect - not too battered, crispy, and just the right amount of sauce Just be warned, the sweet potato fries are basically like shoestring fries; they're extremely crisp and are basically chips with no moisture or fluff. Didn't really care for it initially but it grew on me for sure.
google avatar

Seto F.

Yelp
This place has the BEST honey butter chips I have ever had! There is no place on earth that I have had chips made like this - not even in Korea! Everytime we visit LA we make a special trip to Town Hof & Thanks Chicken for chips and chicken. Food is very good for a bar/pub restaurant. Staff are always friendly and accommodating - would highly recommend!!!

Laura B.

Yelp
The food looks delicious. I cannot wait to visit. I want to try the chips and chicken.

Yelp
Food, service & ambiance is all excellent. Not only the most delicious Korean fried chicken but some of the best fried chicken you'll ever eat. The rose tteokbokki is cooked to perfection & tastes like heaven. My personal favorite is the original & garlic habanero fried chicken...finger lickin' good. Perfect place to grab a beer & eat amazing tasting food! I love this place, staff is friendly & courteous I highly recommend!

Yelp
Was on the hunt for a Korean Fried Chicken restaurant that closes late and this was definitely the place to go. We got here at around 11pm and stayed until 1am. Granted the service was a little slower than I'd like, it offered the perfect environment after a long day with great vibes and K-Pop music playing in the background. Some items were not available (obviously not the chicken, mainly the sides) since we came late in the night but I ordered the half and half - original + garlic and both flavours did not disappoint. The chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection. The order comes with some sides. This is a great place to hang out and eat after a fun night of karaoke-ing in the area.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
All of the bad reviews on here must be a tough crowd. I've been coming here for a little over 4 years and every time I've gone the service is great, food is delicious and both things have been consistent. Town hof is truly authentic Korean chimek, thank you from my friends and family for all of the good times and eats!
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Their chicken and kimchi pasta are the best. Definitely try the habanero sauce if you like spicy.
google avatar

Qui C.

Yelp
This is across from Master Ha's and our group came here to drink after dinner. Typical Korean bar/food establishment. Tables were plenty, service was quick, and the people were nice. Soju and beer of course. We also got fried chicken, cheese corn, and rice cakes to snack on. Needed something substantial after the marinaded raw crab dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for late nights! The restaurant is located in its own small plaza so there was sufficient parking and even a security guard on the second floor. We came around midnight as a group of 8 after the TWICE concert and the staff was very welcoming and attentive. We split into two groups, team bone-in and team boneless. Team bone-in ordered the half-fried, half-garlic. The chicken was crispy, seasoned-well and juicy. Portion size was a bit small for 4 people, so consider ordering another dish as well! Team boneless ordered half spicy, half garlic and an order of the seafood pancake. The batter was just okay for ours, but the sauce was yummy. The pajeon was just alright too, wished there was a little more seafood and a bit more crispier. It went well with the dipping sauce as long as you don't dip too much. Overall, we all enjoyed our food and would come back if we were in the area to try their other dishes.
google avatar

Yelp
Fire chicken and service! I've been coming here for years now. Was hesitant to leave a good review because I wanted to be selfish and keep this place exclusive. But... I cannot do that to the awesome bossman and staff. Their food is always fresh and really tasty. Add that with 5 star service. These places are hard to find.

Yelp
my friends and i were in los angeles for a couple days and we decided to eat here right after a long day at universal. we came in and were seated right away, we were all so tired but once the food came out, we woke up right away. the food was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I personally don't like fried chicken, but this is the best fried chicken i've ever tasted. the soy garlic was soo juicy and flavorful. then the server recommended to mix rice into the rest of our rose topokki and it was very good. the service was amazing. the waiters were really nice and helpful. they were attentive and went out of their way to make our dining experience so much better. it's such an underrated spot and we will definitely come back to LA just for their food. the ambiance is dim and moody, perfect for a date or night out with friends. we loved it so much. i usually don't write reviews but they deserve it !

Chris A.

Yelp
This place looks like something it isn't. It looks like a corny Korean style beer "pub" and it looks very gimmicky. However... Without a doubt in my mind - this is the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. This place has an artists approach to chicken and it shows. Without a doubt. It's the best friend chicken. I randomly walked in here and I will always be back
google avatar

Yelp
I think this place opened recently, and WOW is it a gem!! First of all there's PLENTY of parking in the lot, which is a Godsend in KTown. It's also open late, perfect for hanging out and chilling with friends :) This place is basically your traditional fried chicken place, similar to ones you'd find in Korea. They basically just cut up a whole chicken and fry all the pieces, so there's a lot of different cuts. Me and two of my friends only ordered chicken - we got honey and soy garlic. Both were SO addicting, and the serving size is huge. We definitely over ordered haha but no regrets because it was soooo good and super addicting. I think we all liked the soy garlic one a little more, the honey one was really sweet. But overall the different flavors were a good contrast. The chicken also came with a complementary side salad, which was really light and refreshing, which complemented the fried chicken really well. Can't wait to come back and show my other friends this new joint in KTown!

Yelp
Came here on a random whim and super happy we did Large group of us ordered four different wings and two fries. Their boneless wings were crunchy and amazing. They had the perfect amazing of spice. The chili cheese fries was the highlight of the meal. Extra star for having beer on tap. We ordered A LOT of food and wish the server would have mentioned to maybe take it easy instead of just putting in all the orders and us wasting food.

Robert L.

Yelp
If you want to enjoy Korean Chicken, here is the Best Korean Chicken in LA, Town hof and Thanks Chicken. Delicious, Fresh with reasonable price, Staffs are very kind, Awasome! chicken you have to visit here. Lunch menu is also recommended, rice with pork or chicken. Yummy

Yelp
I've been seeing a lot of the cheese fried chicken and spicy rice cakes on my friends' Instagram stories so I really wanted to try. My boyfriend and I ordered the Rose Tteokbokki and Parmesan Cheese Wings. Honestly, I think this place is overhyped. The rice cakes were good but the parmesan cheese snow wings were disappointing. It wasn't really juicy and wasn't as crunchy as I would've liked. I don't know what the rave is about. The service was excellent but I don't know if we would come back to eat. Maybe we just didn't order the right thing. 3 stars for food, 5 stars for service!

Yelp
I was looking for a new spot to try in ktown and stumbled across this. I'm in love!! We ordered the habanero garlic chicken and stir fried intestines. We got the intestines first and honestly it wasn't what i expected. Usually when ordering intestines i want a crispy outer layer to it but this one was very soft. I was pleasantly surprised! The flavors they used were definitely not what i have had before, so it was a new sensation to me. On the top they finished it off with some crunchy seasoning so there were different textures going around. Next up was the habanero chicken wings that were sooooooooo GOOD. It was fresh, hot, crispy, and sauced up. The sauce was thick enough to not make the chicken soggy and the chicken was crispy enough to retain its crunch even after a while. Probably the best fried chicken i had in ktown(and I've had a LOT of fried chicken LOL). 100% will be coming back and during happy hour for sure!!
