My husband and I ate at Tracey's last Friday night, and it may very possibly have been the best meal I have ever had at a restaurant. We were NOT expecting that based on location- in our experience, restaurants in the UP can get away with being "meh" because, well I don't know... not a lot of choices? People are in the area for the outdoor experiences and not the food. And so, if you are a person who loves the beauty of the UP and also loves delicious food, you must go to Tracey's!
I'll get the only negative out of the way at the top: the music did not fit the experience, in our opinion. Most of what we heard were terrible, whiney covers of classic rock songs. This was weird and jarring compared to the nice ambience and delicious food. Just some soothing piano or jazz would've fit much better.
Other than that, neither of us had any complaints. Service was attentive and helpful without being overbearing, and the place was aesthetically pleasing outside and in.
Now, on to the scrumptious food:
Their menu is designed around sharing, so several of the items are served in a way that is conducive to that - we shared the Butter Lettuce salad and the Surf and Turf for two. Every. Single. Bite. Was Delicious!!! Chateaubriand, Lobster tail, Shrimp Scampi, Fried Whitefish, and even the potatoes and asparagus were just top notch. Not a single bite was lacking anything. The sauces were beautiful. The stuff that dreams are made of. Chef's kiss, Tracey's!!
