"For years, ingredients such as birch syrup and local bison sausage made Tracey’s restaurant the only Munising establishment that food lovers needed to know about. Thanks to the team behind the Roam Inn, where this dining destination is housed, that may be on the brink of shifting. This group recently invested in a handful of area eateries, including the iconic Brownstone Inn west of town beyond Au Train. Book a room at the Roam Inn and make a dinner reservation at chef Biega’s Tracey’s. Served in a bright, wood-paneled dining room that feels like you are in a good friend’s home, this is some of the most seasonal and thoughtful fine dining in the Upper Peninsula, and a restaurant that Detroit chef James Rigato frequents on his way to his U.P. cabin." - Stacey Brugeman

Since the minute we walked in, Amber was friendly and attentive. She gave us excellent suggestions, which we took her up on. I ordered a dragonfruit martini, which was great. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and the breading was excellent. We ordered the American wagyu steak and whitefish to share. Both were delicious and prepared perfectly. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

The aroma filled the air, a promise of delightful flavors to come. The Surf & Turf was a work of art, carefully crafted and beautifully presented. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating a perfect backdrop for the meal. Every bite was a burst of exquisite taste, a symphony for the palate. It was truly a memorable dining experience.

The food was amazing. Excellent service and the cocktails were great, my wife and I really enjoyed it.

Usually I tend to give really good reviews to places since I’m not a picky person, but this experience made me write my first bad one. First of all, the service was almost non-existent. Our waitress came to visit us a total of 3 times, once for drinks, once for food, and once for our bill. No checkups or anything, mind you the place was not packed or even busy. For food, the chopping block burger was definitely the best of what we ordered, it gets a 5 star in my opinion, but the rest of the food, average at best. The short ribs had a whole lot of fat on them or burnt as shown in my first and second photos. When we told the waitress, she couldn’t care less to do anything about it and got us our expensive bill. Having expensive food isn’t a bad thing when it’s worth it, but this was far from it. I will give credit that the place was clean and the atmosphere was pleasant, but that is all I can honestly say.

Decided to try Tracey's on a weekend visit to Munising. The food and service were excellent. They do not have a large menu but just enough choices to make a wonderful meal. All our dishes were on point , the poke was fresh and well made. The brick chicken was savory and crispy, the creme brulee was a fine finisher. Definitely will be back when in the area again. The only negative I would have is the drink prices, Specialty drinks I understand but, for a Tito's and soda, $10 was a bit on the steep side .

Loved our evening here. The food was amazing and the bartender, Nick, was both talented and fun. He absolutely loves making customers happy and that was a joy to be around. The ricotta was great, although I probably wouldn’t order again. The cheese curds were deliciously unique, would definitely get again along with the trout. The gnocchi was a carnivore’s delight with lots of meat included. The Negroni had an amazing smoky taste. The staff was very friendly too. I’d recommend this place to anyone!

My third year in a row celebrating my anniversary at Tracy’s, new menu is scrumptious!

What a great surprise in the UP. We were on a road rally and spending the night in Musining. Tracey’s was a recommendation by the rally organizer and we couldn’t have been more surprised and pleased with the food, the service and yet atmosphere. This is truly a hidden gem. Jamie provided excellent service, was very attentive, and made sure we were satisfied. The food and cocktails were awesome. This restaurant could do well in any big city. Dennis

Yelp
Can someone say delicious!?! If you're looking for an upscale dinner while visiting the UP then this is the place for you. Reservations not needed and we walked in after hiking all day through the national park, so come as you are. But I do recommend getting there early or after 7 cause the restaurant fills up quickly. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The menu is seasonal; however, they had not yet switched it to their fall/winter menu yet. Starters are served small plate style, but easily serve two. We started our dinner with the whipped ricotta with extra toasted bread. It was delicious, the perfect amount of herbs to balance out the confit garlic. For main dishes the potato chip whitefish in tomato broth was balanced well with herbs. It was the perfect warm dish after a day of hiking in the brisk air. My husband and son shared the surf and turf. Cooked and seasoned to perfection! The zip sauce is a great accompaniment to the steak and potatoes. Don't let the price scare you away. It is worth every penny! As for the finale the crème brûlée is rich and creamy and the perfect end to an amazing meal.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on his birthday trip to have a nice dinner and celebrate. Service was very slow, but we didn't mind as we knew this was a more upscale place and we knew the food would be good and worth the wait. We had the calamari, gnocchi, and burger, and we did enjoy them. However, when we went to order desert we were told they were out of the crème brûlée and the chocolate cake which were the only two deserts on the menu. No problem - we were sad but understanding... until the server at the table next to us offered a creative ice cream desert solution that sounded simple and great. This was something that was not offered to us, even as a substitute, even after discussing it was my husband's birthday. I want to be very clear - we are disappointed in the lack of hospitality at what is clearly supposed to be a more elevated experience in the area, not the fact that we didn't get dessert. We know things run out and happen, and we were totally fine until we saw other servers going out of their way to make things right. We are disappointed in our server and the service we received. Our server never even checked on us during our long wait for food to begin with, even with an empty water bottle. TL;DR: food is good, service/hospitality is not.

Sharon J.

Yelp
My husband and I ate at Tracey's last Friday night, and it may very possibly have been the best meal I have ever had at a restaurant. We were NOT expecting that based on location- in our experience, restaurants in the UP can get away with being "meh" because, well I don't know... not a lot of choices? People are in the area for the outdoor experiences and not the food. And so, if you are a person who loves the beauty of the UP and also loves delicious food, you must go to Tracey's! I'll get the only negative out of the way at the top: the music did not fit the experience, in our opinion. Most of what we heard were terrible, whiney covers of classic rock songs. This was weird and jarring compared to the nice ambience and delicious food. Just some soothing piano or jazz would've fit much better. Other than that, neither of us had any complaints. Service was attentive and helpful without being overbearing, and the place was aesthetically pleasing outside and in. Now, on to the scrumptious food: Their menu is designed around sharing, so several of the items are served in a way that is conducive to that - we shared the Butter Lettuce salad and the Surf and Turf for two. Every. Single. Bite. Was Delicious!!! Chateaubriand, Lobster tail, Shrimp Scampi, Fried Whitefish, and even the potatoes and asparagus were just top notch. Not a single bite was lacking anything. The sauces were beautiful. The stuff that dreams are made of. Chef's kiss, Tracey's!!

Yelp
Best restaurant in Munising! We love the view of Lake Superior from the outdoor patio. Service is excellent and plates are fairly small but tastefully prepared. We had the ahi tuna, brussels sprouts, and whitefish plates for a healthy and delicious meal. Note: there is no sign for the restaurant, which is why it took us so long to discover it. Look for Tracey's inside the Roam Inn across the street from the high school.

Alison B.

Yelp
The food here was delicious. I would give this burger a solid 8.5/10 with my only complaint being was the bun was soggy from the sauces and there were no tomatoes on which I think would make it tastier. We also ordered drinks which were delicious. It's a nice seating arrangement and wasn't too loud when we went. I love the pictures all over of the pictures rocks, it adds to the charm of the restaurant. The service was pretty good although it took a little bit longer than we anticipated.

Cindy L.

Yelp
4 of us enjoyed such a fabulous dinner! Our friends from Nashville never imagined such a great restaurant in the U.P!

Angelynn J.

Yelp
The food here is very good. They also have really good drinks that are non-alcoholic as well as alcoholic beverages. The service was good , our waitress was very kind and always checked on us. They had just opened and we were seated right away. The restaurant was very clean. If I visit UP again I will make sure to visit this establishment.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Great dining experience while in Munising! Cute atmosphere, good food and service. There isn't any signage for Tracey's, so it was a little hard to find until I looked up that it is in the Roam Hotel.

Dave D.

Yelp
This restaurant far surpassed our expectations. Seven of us had different dishes and they were all fantastic. A charming place with lots of light in our part of the Inn. A beautiful view of Lake Superior. Waitstaff was great. It is a dynamic menu with vegetarian options. Local favorite fauna and fresh ingredients.

Thomas C.

Yelp
Another excellent dinner experience at Tracy's at Roam Inn! We come up from Manistique whenever in the area to have some great tasting food that you can't get in too many places let alone in the U.P. Service was great, allowing as much time as we wanted to drink a nice bottle of wine before we ordered. Was a bit chilly that day so opted to eat inside instead of the porch which was full when we left. Can't wait till we return.

Kate V.

Yelp
Wow, I have never had food like this in Northern Michigan. Every dish was thoughtfully curated, featuring local ingredients, and tasted so delicious. The short rib and the gnocchi were the superstars of the meal. The service was great -- the staff (Nick and Madeline, I think?) were kind, funny, and warm. The vibe in here was cute and cozy while still upscale. We will absolutely be back if we're in the area!

Erika S.

Yelp
The food here was so imaginative and palate-pleasing. I never would have thought to combine the unique flavors that make up the dishes that are served. They're wonderful and this is easily the best restaurant in the Upper Peninsula.

Kat O.

Yelp
The restaurant is only as good as the help. Sheena was our server. Not very attentive. Did not explain the menu. She didn't even make eye contact to see if we needed anything. We got there about 5 minutes after they opened and we were told they were "out of Trout". Was looking forward to a great experience. This wasn't it.

Sandra S.

Yelp
Exceptional food and service. It was my 44th Anniversary Dinner, have had a summer home in the area for decades and hands down this place is FABULOUS. Arrived at 4p for cocktail hour and all mixed drinks were 1/2 off. Had a blue cheese stuffed olive martini and a smoky old fashion. Most small plates: smoked dill white fish dip and pesto spread on toast. Then a summer strawberry spinach salad and beef taco in yummy sauce. Topped it off with chocolate lava cake and fresh brew coffee ! The view over Lake Superior on the deck was awe inspiring on a hot sunny day. All for $102 as it has happy hour (3-5p). Highly recommended trying it! Posted the signage as some say it's difficult to find which is hilarious with google maps. Perused the menu and selected favorites which I would recommend as everyone like's something different.

Tina L.

Yelp
Meh- inattentive service (took 30-ish minutes to take our order, and we had to ask for water refills), cold entrees, and pre-rolled/refrigerated sushi.

Michael P.

Yelp
Hmmm, where do I start? Food was good for the most part, probably best in the area. Our group had the butter lettuce, potato chip whitefish, beef shoulder sandwich, and gnocchi ( though was a small serving size for $$$). Everything was good except for the whitefish. It seem that the cappers and olives were absent and the serving size was ridiculous - was it called potato chip because it was the size of a potato chip. I would recommend not ordering. Service was terrible. There were maybe 7 other tables there and it took us about 30 minutes to get our drinks and food was slow as well. At the end of the of the day, food was good, service was terrible and prices were ridiculously expensive for the area. It was not in the price $$ category.

Paul M.

Yelp
Our server Jamie (sp?) was pleasant and efficient. The cuisine was gourmet level. The restaurant was clean. You will be enjoy this dining gem!

Julia H.

Yelp
Five stars is not enough for the flavor this restaurant provides. We stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day of hiking at Lake Superior. The appetizers, main course, and dessert were next level. Staff was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and allergies. Highly recommend. Dress business casual.

Melissa O.

Yelp
So disappointed. Watered down drinks with hidden upcharges for everything. Banh mi slider was okay. Best flavor of anything, but suuuuper messy to eat - not well thought out on layering with the bread. Focaccia with ricotta - that was not focaccia, it was grilled sourdough and that was not whipped ricotta, it was cream cheese. 40-day aged prime rib and bison rib eye were bland, chewy, and had zero sear. We should not have had to add salt to these beautiful cuts of meat. Side of broccolini was crunchy and undercooked. And the crispiness of the twice fried fingerling potatoes was lost under too much sauce. The seafood stew had one piece of whitefish!? It was mostly shrimp. In the UP, I expected them to highlight the fish. What a letdown. And the value was PAINFUL: we paid $330 with tip for three people to have a meal that was worth half that at best. Will not return.

Heather S.

Yelp
The food here was prepared beautifully and tasted delicious. We had a specialty blueberry cocktail that I wish was bottomless. We got the steak and the pork dishes that were prepared perfect. The atmosphere was quaint and comfortable as well as beautiful. Next time I am in town I will likely stay at the roam inn that is attached. It's like a little hidden gem

Josh S.

Yelp
This place is great if you don't mind paying a lot for small portions and sub par service. It's in a nice location and has good food so it has potential, but in my opinion as someone who's worked in and frequented everything from dive bars to fine dining in major international cities, it's way overpriced for the tiny portions. It may be better for drinks and apps.

Evan K.

Yelp
Top notch tastes, large portions, attentive, but not, intrusive service, great wine selection for a small town, friendly bartender and wait staff.

Janelle M.

Yelp
For the most part the food was delicious - We got the short ribs which were for SURE the star of the show! I got the ribeye and fries that were on special and everything was tasty and well seasoned, but my steak was quite overcooked. I ordered it rare and it was medium-medium well. I didn't return it as the service was a bit slow so I didn't want my partner to be done eating before I could start. Overall would try again when in the area, but would likely stay away from another steak.

Christine K.

Yelp
Had dinner here, was very pleasantly wowed by the service and (most of) the food. High praise for the ahi tuna appetizer. It was amazing. My husband had the burger and loved it. I have to say the potato chip whitefish small plate was not very good, so I asked our server for a bit more puttanesca sauce which made it better. My advice- skip this dish, get the ahi tuna or the burger. Our server Madeline was a delight...good luck to you in nursing school!!

Jennifer A.

Yelp
We are here two nights of our trip because we wanted to try multiple menu items. Impressive menu and great location. Beautiful view from the patio. Our servers were so nice, but it seemed like they had too many tables and were struggling to keep up. The kitchen was also backed up maybe too many things on the menu or maybe short staffed that week? We were on vacation, so not in a big hurry, but it took over 30 mins to get our drinks. The Lakeshore Pan Roast, whipped ricotta and pork dumplings were outstanding. The brick chicken had great Mediterranean flavor. The burger had too many flavors (arugula and cherry) competing with the taste of high quality meat. We will be back and just know that in the high tourist season service will be slower.

Emma T.

Yelp
This place has a variety of options, both drinks and food is really interesting, with lots of things I've never had in quite those combinations. The price is worth it! Also, if the weather is nice go ahead and eat outside- you can see the lake over the hs. The service here is also brilliant- very fast, helpful, and competent.

Cheryl N.

Yelp
Food is unique but portions are very small and expensive. Nice atmosphere. Service is friendly but slow. It was our anniversary so they did comp our dessert, which was delicious.

Amy G.

Yelp
I love coming here for cocktails when I'm in Munising. It's friendly and fun. If you like whiskey or scotch they have a lot of options. They have beer and wine too. Usually 4 beers on tap. You are sure to get local beers on tap too. They do a daily special that's tasty and fresh. The barkeep usually knows their stuff so you can order a classic cocktail or any off menu cocktail. The only thing I don't love is the lime juice is not fresh squeezed. They order it in and one tender said it's a week long shelf life. Either way, daily squeezed citrus is the way to go for cocktails. They need a few better gin options too. The inside is adorable. The deck has outdoor seating that's lovely. You can see LAKE Superior and the view is lovely. If you are eating please get the cheese curds or the Brussels sprouts. So ferocious. Like delicious and incredible. So y'all need to get in here.

Power Y.

Yelp
Not from here. I'm originally Born and raised in Detroit but we traveled from GR. Found this place through Yelp cuz I'm a foodie and great food makes any place more worth staying. So glad we came and checked out this relaxing and different in a nice way restaurant. Tracy's is definitely a restaurant to check out if not the restaurant when in Munising. First time here and it's already made a mark on my food journey. Love the atmosphere, scene and vibe. Offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The service was great and attentive. Food was visually appealing and taste was pleasing. Prices are on the higher end yet absolutely worth it.

Cathie A.

Yelp
We enjoyed Tracey's so much that we went back the following evening for dinner. Tuna Poke, Brussels, pork short ribs, whitefish, and an obscenely decadent burger are all worth a third trip. Both inside and outdoor dining were nice.

Demetrius K.

Yelp
My wife and I were just here recently and had possibly the worst service we've had in many many years. We were not sure exactly what was wrong with our server but after an hour and five minutes and getting one drink and no food we think that either she was an experienced or something else was wrong. After we sat down it took 20 minutes for a drink order. I had to flag down the host in order to find who are server would be. Drinks were finally provided 20 minutes after we put in our drink order. We tried to find our server to maybe get a second drink, and find out about our order, but she was nowhere to be found. She did spend a great deal of time, talking to the bartender, but never bothered to come to our table other than to take the initial drink order and the food order. There were three other tables near us that seemed to get timely drinks and food orders. Of course a different server handled the 3 other tables. I realize some places have a night off or a bad night, but this is an expensive restaurant and parades itself to be very high-end, but there did not appear to be any management or anyone to step in and deal with the situation Finally after 65 minutes, I was able to get the executive chef to come out and I said I want to pay for my drinks and get out of here. The service has been so bad. I don't want to be around here.

Katie K.

Yelp
The ambiance and food here is perfect for a date night, but not great for a group of 5 who landed on this place because they were looking for a dinner that wasn't pizza in the area. The menu apparently changes frequently, which is fine, but had I seen the menu beforehand I probably wouldn't have chosen here. It's aiming for high-end food, so the portions are extremely small but more expensive than you would imagine. I had the whitefish for dinner, and while good, I was done in approximately 4 bites. Our waitress was very kind, so we had no problems there, but all of us left still hungry (and a little broke).

Tamara R.

Yelp
The staff is arrogant. I had something floating in my water glass. Portions were small and the pork spare ribs were mostly fat. Should have taken a picture as proof. We showed it to the chef, who had the gall to say people eat the fat. Even the guy at our shared table said that answer would not be acceptable to him. He had also ordered spare ribs. Restaurant was freezing cold.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Dinner was great, service was also wonderful had a young man who was wonderful. The pictured rocks lemonade was delicious! Pricey but worth it one of the best meals of the trip. Get the blockcut salmon!

Joann P.

Yelp
Very overpriced and was out of the Scotch we ordered. Brussels sprouts were burnt. Ordered the Beef shoulder Sandwich and it had several bones. I would suggest that they print the prices on the drink menu, ordered our 2nd choice of Scotch and it was $30 for a very small pour. Calamari and Gnocchi was ok. I doubt we will be back.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Very overpriced. Slow service. Small portions. Took 45 minutes just to get a sandwich. White fish consisted of 3 tiny pieces of fish in a bowl. No veggie, rice, or side dish of any kind. Will NEVER go back.Potato Encrusted Whitefish. Don't order it. Drinks were expensive. Got half a glass of foam as my beer. Complained to the waitress and she just ignored us. Restaurant was freezing. Man sitting at the next table kept trying to close the vents. Really bad experience overall.

Paul C.

Yelp
Our dinner and drinks were exceptional and so was our server. I highly recommend for fine dining and drinks and great service!

Elaine R.

Yelp
The food was excellent as was our server, Amber. Ambiance is nice. Noise level wasn't too bad in the dining room to the left of the front door. The menu is clearly seasonal, which makes a lot of sense. I love the smaller plate approach. Signage is abysmal as there is none for the actual restaurant and it's easy to miss the name of the inn painted on the side of the building. It's almost as though they want to keep the place a secret, which I get. ;)

Nate K.

Yelp
The best overall dinner we had while in town! Everything was fresh and delish, and servers are well informed! Girlfriend says to highly recommend vegan ramen dish.

Perry B.

Yelp
Showed up right at open around 5pm without reservation, the staff was very friendly and took care of us even thou we were there about 15 minutes before they opened. We got the fried enoki mushroom, was just ok...nothing to write home about. Then the spicy lobster sushi roll and the Godzilla roll, along with the crab Rangoon all of this was excellent, and would definitely order again. But if you really want sushi, go Thursday nights. They do more then just two rolls that they have on the menu on Thursdays. Reservations are preferable but we walked in and they handled us well. The Wagyu beef ramen was really good too, but a little pricey...and the last thing we had was the crème brûlée for dessert. It was excellent and nicely done. Everything was pretty good all in all. Definitely going back on a Thursday for more rolls.

Chris R.

Yelp
Nice place. New menu that includes Asian ramen... We tried the American classic side of the menu. Brussels sprouts appetizer was delicious. Wife's blueberry "new" old fashioned was a bit strong for me, but she liked it. Walleye main dish was superb, asparagus, fingerling potatoes, Parmesan crusted, with a wonderful sauce. Highly recommended! Creme brûlée for dessert- very good w/a hint of maple. Great service, good atmosphere... they rival offerings in Traverse City and beyond. Treat yourself.

Joshua U.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service, nice place, excellent drinks! This place definitely deserves all the positive reviews!

Geoffrey R.

Yelp
First time visiting Munising and came for dinner. It was amazing, delicious food. The Gyoza Pork Dumplings were probably the best I have ever had. The American Wagyu Flat Iron Steak was some of the best I have ever had. Great, kind, fast service as well. Very nice inside of restaurant. Definitely will need to come back again.

Samantha W.

Yelp
Tracey's was lovely. What a gem tucked into Munising! There's an inn above the restaurant, called Roam Inn. So when you're looking for Tracey's you'll see a modern inn with a patio. You found it! Sit on the patio! Have the Brussels. And an assortment of small plates. I'm going to venture a guess that the filet was amazing. Take your time. Enjoy the wine! Please make reservations and understand that there are very few (nice!) restaurants up North anna appreciate this extraordinary place for what they bring to the UP. (What a break from bar food!!)

J S.

Yelp
We were in the Munising/Marquette area for four days exploring the UP and stayed at the Roam Inn. We had dinner at Tracey's 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. The food was absolutely spectacular. If you are in the area around dinner time - ever - we highly recommend. The first dinner my wife and I shared a number of small plates - all of which were really excellent. Great presentation and the flavors were phenomenal. Nick was the bartender and Katy was our server - and they were absolutely great. The second dinner we celebrated the wife's birthday and had the short ribs for an appetizer and the bison for an entree. Absolutely great food. The creme brulee desert is also wonderful. The chef Allie came out and said hello and chatted with us. Eve was our server and she was great. We ate in Marquette the night in between the two meals, but stopped in for cocktails before heading to the room. Amber was bartending and she was also fabulous. They have a great staff, the ambiance is really great - and the whole place has a great vibe - in our opinion. Worth the stop - and even worth a drive of up to 60 miles on our opinion. An absolute gem! Janna and Jeff S.

Sinjini C.

Yelp
We ordered the American wagyu, the chicken with hummus, the cheese curds and the crème brûlée for dessert. It was probably one of the best steaks we have had in the longest. The staff was friendly and the ambience was pretty cute. Cannot recommend this place enough! Special shout-out to Kendall and Danny for the amazing recommendations.

Linda D.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our dinner tonight at Tracey's. We started off looking at the wine list and were very happy they had awesome wine on their list. We had the dinner for 2 that was amazing. Steak, lobster, shrimp, asparagus, potatoes and bluegill! It was cooked to perfection. Great service! I found it very nice that Jason the manager came up and asked us how everything was and it seemed like he was helping the staff take away dishes etc. great team work! Keep up the good work!

G D.

Yelp
We celebrated our 30th Anniversary at Tracey's last week. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. We started with the shrimp cocktail, sooo good! My favorite item of the night. The blue cheese dressing on the salad was a bit salty, but still nice. We had the surf n turf for two, also very good. The service was fantastic and the drink recommendations were on point. We were even given the choice of crème brûlée or a glass of champagne for our anniversary. We choose the crème brûlée and we were not disappointed. Definitely a nice, high end choice for a special occasion if you are in Munising.

Marla J.

Yelp
We love fish. This place respects the fish!! Beautiful evening overlooking Lake Superior. Delicious food. Wonderful service. Fantastic atmosphere. Nice bar and bartender. Confusing for GPS - Hotel is Roam Inn. Restaurant is Tracey's. Nice people and fantastic soundtrack of Motown and Al Green tunes. :-)
