Always a pleasure shopping at this Trader Joe’s! Located in beautiful Hyde Park, it’s a clean, well-stocked store that always has interesting and healthy finds at very reasonable prices—definitely cheaper than Whole Foods. I love that they carry unique items like body butters and gourmet poultry selections you don’t often find elsewhere. Customer service is consistently outstanding, with staff who are friendly, helpful, and quick to assist. Another bonus is the parking—if you make a purchase, they validate, which makes the trip even easier. A reliable, affordable, and enjoyable place to shop every time!

Google
I have nothing to say expect the vibes are immaculate and the staff are ever friendly 💕 They do their best to keep stuff stocked but this location seems go have supply issues more than ones in other cities. Good size, well staffed, lines never too long and if they get long, they move fast. Did i mention vibes? The halloween pumpkins are iconic

Great prices and great food. The layout makes it easy to get in and out fast. Staff are friendly, and the store feels welcoming. I shop here often.

I live 3 hours away so I don't get here often, but I LOVE Trader Joe's. This one is well designed, with great parking. Also, the staff was SUPER helpful and kind. Three different times I saw somebody ask a staff number where a certain item would be and each time they said, "Here I'll show you." and left what they were doing to take the customer to the right spot. Zavier checked and packed my groceries and was very friendly and helpful. I saw someone working carts in the super cold lot and he stopped collapsing carts to grab one from someone who was a few spaces away so they could get back to their car faster. So many people taking a few extra steps for customers made this visit feel over-the-top friendly. Also, 20 Tulips and a huge bunch of Baby's Breath for $17 is amazing! And I love how they always have some new snack to try...

Found everything that I wanted. Suju immunity shots, root beer float Popsicles, bird nest, I tried their quiche Lorraine I did not like it. I also got a turkey and cheddar sandwich with apple and arugula it was pretty good could use more turkey on it. I also bought sweet potatoes, hot house cucumber and tomatoes. All the produce looked good and fresh. I bought more items . It was a great shopping experience ☺️

Google
Nice friendly store. Always stocked. Beautiful flowers. Prices are okay. I just wish there were more healthier items besides the refrigerated veggies. Good place to shop for a single person or a small family.

Google
I love trader Joe's and the way they do most things, and I love that they have a selection of ready-made salads and so I had one today the Green goddess which tasted awesome except _it_tasted _moldy_!!! I was very hungry and in a hurry to get back to work so I ate it all but worried that I would possibly get sick. The date on it is 5 days in the future so I'm not sure what is going on here!

Google
This is a wonderful if somewhat quirky, neighborhood grocery store. But that's the point: all the basics plus lots of interesting items you won't find anywhere else. The "Crew" members are super friendly and the prices are very competitive. A discovery on every aisle: an adventure awaits!

Yelp
I love the Hyde park Trader Joe's! From the plants to fresh fruit and produce and all the healthy snacks! My favorite thing is the affordable plant selection! The flowers are amazing!

Yelp
The cashiers and managers are very nice and helpful!!! They keep a nice stock of everything. If you don't see something ask! The lines do get extremely long but they do work fast. Nice selection of flowers! They have great sunflowers that last over a week! Trader Joe's brand of Vegan Thai Green Curry is outstanding!! It's amazing! You don't even miss the meat. It tastes similar to Star of Siam's green curry chicken

Yelp
Amazing customer service. Clean. Well stocked. Great food selection. Always a fast and easy experience that's pleasant. One area for improvement: please buy an air purifier for the slight smell/ odor.

Yelp
I've been coming to this TJ's for years.Never once have I had a problem until 02/2024.I was shopping with my son and an employee with a mean ugly look on her face rudely cut in front of us and never said excuse me.Again..People are rude sometimes but she works there.Light skinned skinny bald headed black female.Tall.New because I've never seen it.Not totally bald but short dark hair.Ugly inside and out.Every time I've come here it's been wonderful.HR dropped the ball hiring this witch. When I go back I will be reporting her.

Yelp
The staff is very friendly and helpful . A item was not bagged and I left the store and didn't even realize it was missing . The cashier ran out of the store and caught me before I got in the car and gave me my item !! It was so kind of him to do that !! They are always well stocked and if they are out of stock they will take the time to find out when the item is coming back in stock . The other big postive is that the parking lot is huge and there is always parking spots !

Yelp
I was so looking forward to being able to shop local again and take only 1 bus home (or take less than 15 min to get home at least). The layout is nice, very wide aisles, as this is a small store. The parking is probably the most generous than other TJ's. The selection is impressive, or what I'm used to from TJ's so far. I forget they do not have much canned veggies or fruit, mostly fresh or frozen, which is great in the cool weather. Lugging home frozen stuff when it finally gets warm again is another thing. I like that they have food AND liquid samples! There's a decent liquor area with mainstream and off-brands too. What's up with the music? So much 80's stuff (which I love but still) then an abrupt switch to the 21st Century. Maybe split the difference and go with the 90's? I like the 'bell' system rather than the speaker for 'more registers, assistance needed, etc. Our cashier was unsure about dividing between 2 credit cards, but she figured it out. The manager was very adept at finding some hard to find dark chocolate almonds, a favorite of my co-shopper.

Yelp
i say 'twas a pleasure to trade with Joe today! bought a round of "thank you" groceries for my friends who live and love in East Hyde Park. did you know if you f around too much the Mayor may revoke your beach privileges? do not f about. i bought a SMALL mini roses plant for the brothers. they are more orchid men so i hope this purchase doesn't disappoint them. they ARE italian! so what else? i purchased pasteurized fresh OJ, while milk TJs beans, dark chocolate pb cups (a must, the $1 small bag sold by the checkout), a quick to make risotto box ($2 i believe), frozen ready to heat gnocchi w sauce on it already, 6 pack bottles of stella artois, and $7 bottle of red that is supposed to be pretty good. i almost bought the sweet corn ravioli + basil tomato pasta sauce, but i got a budget! i spent $2 on v cute and stylin reusable bags w handles. pictured is one of them! and iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii will always dove MOOOOOOOOO!

Yelp
I love having Trader Joe's in the neighbourhood -- it's a smaller branch than the ones downtown, but still very useful to have in the neighbourhood. As with everywhere else, it *can* be hit or miss (the ghee is a hard no, for instance), but their frozen selections are generally great to have around as are their affordable nuts and sauces, etc. Not a conventional grocery store, but an excellent option to have. However, the very best thing about TJ-HP is, hands down, the excellent customer service. Hyde Park is a very weird neighbourhood, and it's the first place I've encountered the most racist treatment from...clerks and salespeople who are also people of colour. This has to do with a long history that can be traced in Margo Jefferson's book about the neighbourhood, but suffice it to say this is not uncommon -- the Starbucks on 53rd is the same way, as are other places. Whole Foods appears to have an explicit company policy about racial profiling -- I've had to complain TWICE now. It's so bad in there that I will actuall look for *white* clerks when in WF! So (knock on wood that this does not change), it's always great to enter TJ in Hyde Park where everyone working there treats every customer well, regardless of race (at least based on my experience). Kudos to the team there, and please keep it up.

Yelp
This location is much needed in Hyde Park! A solid size for a Trader Joe's. The people complaining about the size, fresh fish, deli etc. clearly have never frequented TJ's in any other location. For a family of 3 (2 adults and a dog) the selections are amazing. I love the smaller offerings. I don't need a 60 gallon jar of mayonnaise; I need 2-4 servings of something. Lately, TJ's as a brand is getting more and more prepared or marinated proteins. I have purchased a bunch of the newly marinated chicken options and pair that with a salad mix. Easy dinner with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Trader Joe's always has the lockdown on awesome customer service and this location is not any different. Amazing staff! Parking lot is BS, but that's the joke, right? Seriously though, be careful. Both driving and walking. No one stops for you, people are consistently pulling though parking spots or taking 10 minutes to back in their huge SUVs.

Yelp
I like Trader Joe's in general. This store is also nice and clean. I love their personnel, also great produce, dairy, meat beer and wine!

Yelp
Happiness is a good grocery store, being tickled pink is when it's a great one. It seems like forever that this space has been vacant. Perhaps, it's been around a year. In any event, I'm glad they're here. Completely refreshed it's great to bring in some competition, just as for years we had the Jewel in Bronzeville, Mariano's was welcomed with open arms. Whole foods moved into Hyde Park, and there were two major stores for a while then Treasure Island departed suddenly. They redesigned the outside, the inside feels just like some of their other stores, familiar tables stacked with fresh produce, beautiful fresh flowers, wine & cheese. As their other stores lots of frozen and convenience items. What I like about TJ's is that the concept is build around a small household. I did note that there were some employee's hired from TI it was nice to see a couple familiar faces. It's going to be a tough choice between the two locations close to me, I'm in the south loop a lot, but the parking there is shoe horn tight in a tiny lot, or go a little bit out of my way and not have to worry about parking as this store is the anchor along with Walgreens in a small neighborhood mall. Choices, I love choices!

Yelp
I am sooooooo happy to have a Trader Joe's in Hyde Park finally! I have been waiting for years for this to happen. I love Trader Joe's and this is a good store! Everything is well space (for TJs), the parking lot is enormous for TJs, staff are very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I'm happy that they moved in to the neighborhood. I've been here a few times in the last two weeks that they've been open. Very busy location, staff is helpful, feels like one of the larger Trader Joes I've been to and I've visited several in Chicago and Cali back in the day. Two complaints about this location, I think they could do a better job training cashiers on how to properly bag groceries. Some of them over fill the bags without doubling them and don't consider what are going in on bottom and top. 2) they advertise closing at 9PM, me and several locals got to the door around the 8:50 ish mark and they had an associate saying sorry were closed, letting customers out one allowing no one in. If you close at 8:45 or 8:30 then advertise it please.

Yelp
Finally, Trader Joe's in Hyde Park has opened! And it is busy, busy busy! Pumpkins everywhere...whole pumpkins, canned pumpkins, pumpkin biscotti, pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin tea, pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin almond milk, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin ice cream on a cone, pumpkin Joe Joe's, pumpkin bread and muffin mix, pumpkin pancake mix, pumpkin spice granola bark, pumpkin chocolate chunk oatmeal cookie mix, pumpkin spiced ginger brew, pumpkin madeleines, pumpkin bisque, pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds, pumpkin cranberry crisps, pumpkin rolls with pumpkin spice icing, pumpkin flavored dog treat, pumpkin spice facial mask...whew, something for everyone.!!! And if you don't like pumpkin, they've got a variety of apple, cinnamon spiced and butternut offerings. Welcome to Hyde Park, Trader Joes!!

Gina G.

Yelp
I love Trader Joe's. No matter which one I go to, staff are super nice and helpful. Always clean, all registers always open, and quick checkouts

Yelp
So glad to have a large Trader Joe's in Hyde Park. Just went there on Labor Day and despite the line outside, I got in and out quickly. And the best thing about my experience at Trader Joe's was the cheerful, kind checkout person BRAD who made an extra effort to greet all of his customers and had something nice to say to them. In this age of Coronavirus when some folks are worried about standing in line, worried about social distancing and apprehensive about going into stores period, it's surprising when people go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Well Brad, you did just that and your kindness is appreciated. Thank you!

Yelp
Trader Joe's has been a great addition to Hyde park where the supply of grocery stores are not in abundance. If you've been to a Trader Joe's before, expect nothing different here besides maybe longer lines. If you haven't been then you're in for an interesting treat. Trader Joe's is the store but, also the manufacturer so everything in the store is TJ brand. They have a range of options similar to an Aldi or Kroger but, with a strong emphasis on health. So you'll find a lot more fresh food and less processed. The store has really good prices on some things and not so great on others. The aisles aren't really themed as you see in most stores so you can find yourself wandering around all over the store looking for your items. Also, with everything being TJ brand, your household items might not always be called what you're used to (ex. Ritz crackers = golden rounds). Only other thing is it's more of a niche grocery store so they don't have the wide range of options like a Marianos. Great store and I highly recommend. Just might take a little getting used to.

Yelp
I love the team of kind, hard-working and patient people who work here. I am deeply grateful to you for showing up everyday, putting all your energy in, and keeping the store running so smoothly through the most stressful times. You have helped me and the Hyde Park community so much. Thank you!!! I wish your employer would do something to protect you, even the simplest mask offers some protection. I do get worried for your safety with so many people coming through.

Yelp
Somehow this is the first time in the history of this space that the space itself has actually given off a cheerful vibe, with the possible exception of the opening day of the old Co-op, and that was because the Co-op was celebrating by handing out orchids. I'm very happy to have a Trader Joe's here. While the array of reasonably priced wine and cognac threatens to propel me (and arguably the broader community) down the slope into midwinter alcoholism, the aforementioned cheerful vibe is a good counterweight, and the array of reasonably priced cheese tends to inspire me to make a Welsh rabbit instead, using a nice bass ale.

Yelp
Hyde Park has been spoiled for choice for years relative to the rest of the South Side of Chicago when it comes to grocery stores. So let's not pretend that the place is a food desert. With that said, the final hurdle has been cleared and at last, our esteemed, erudite neighborhood been deemed worthy of a Trader Joe's. It is small, but it is mighty. The staff is diverse, helpful and friendly, the selection is constantly rotating, and when the lines are not long it's easy to quickly get what you need and bounce. One star off because some products are slow to reappear on the floor (signs for products that are out of stock are needlessly disappointing) and there are times when the lines are long, the place is crowded, and it feels like the store shouldn't be as small as it is, spacewise. Anyway, I love the place, I'm thrilled that it's there, and already am a regular customer.

Yelp
Staffs friendly and helpful. Not only fresh produce at good values but helps young people to get jobs. Would love to come back as often as could.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
I wish this Trader Joe's had been here when I lived in the neighborhood. The selection here is generally better than that of other Trader Joe's locations in different parts of Chicago. The quality of the produce is top notch, and I have yet to show up only to find a specific item I am looking for out of stock. I feel very safe shopping here during the Covid pandemic due to the safety protocols the store follows. The checkout lines here also seem to move faster than the Trader Joe's near me!
google avatar

Cierra K.

Yelp
I have been to about six different Trader Joe's statewide and it's always a good shopping experience. Same as here with the fresh fruit and produce as you know you can't beat the prices for the products. I will say I have not seen a parking lot as big as this location before, I guess that's Hyde Park for you. The employees are friendly and I was able to get everything I needed amongst this spacious and clean store.
google avatar

Adam P.

Yelp
They have the nicest and most helpful employees here. Great selection of produce. And, the most delicious frozen entrees! Great place to shop.

Yelp
Love having a Trader Joe's in Hyde park. The parking is abundant I like the one in south loop. The layout is pretty typical. It sometimes can get crowded so I go on off hours. Checkout was super speedy. No complaints just really happy to have it here!!!

vicki d.

Yelp
Having just left a bad review about the horrible experience I just had at whole foods I thought I should talk about what a positive experience I have been having at Trader Joe's when I shop during senior hour. They enforce the rules everybody keeps their masks on they have good social distancing everything is very clean and the staff is always very friendly. I've always liked a lot of the products that you can get at Trader Joe's but now during these times I particularly enjoy shopping there

Emily K.

Yelp
The employees here go above and beyond. Today, I had to bring my 6 week old daughter shopping with me. She quickly became fussy and hungry. I stepped outside to feed her, and was immediately approached by multiple employees asking if I wanted a chair, needed wipes, needed anything else. They came out to check on me periodically to see if I needed anything else. I had been so nervous about needing to feed her and everyone was so helpful and made me feel so comfortable!

Michele K.

Yelp
This is my favorite Hyde Park store. The produce is always fresh. The employees are always helpful and polite. And they make having to wait in line to get into the store a very pleasant experience.
