"The city’s newest Trader Joe’s is located in Forest Hills, Queens. The California-based grocer is opening a 17,000-square-foot supermarket at 69-65 Yellowstone Boulevard, near Queens Boulevard, QNS.com reports. The business opens with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday at 8 a.m.; it will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily going forward." - Luke Fortney

When I first heard a Trader Joe’s was opening near my gym, I was so happy and excited. This Trader Joe’s is just a 3 minute walk from my gym so grocery shopping after the gym is super easy & convenient. This is definitely the largest Trader Joe’s in Queens so far and definitely the less chaotic one that I’ve been to. Everything is neat and organized, easy to find what I’m looking for. The staff are super friendly and always open to answering questions.

Trader Joe's in Forest Hills is a total gem when it comes to grocery shopping, but let’s talk about the flowers for a second—absolutely beautiful! Every time I pop in, I’m blown away by the fresh, vibrant selection. Whether you’re looking for a simple bouquet to brighten up your home or something a bit more exotic, they’ve got you covered. Plus, the prices are really hard to beat. Of course, the rest of the store is just as great, with friendly staff and a fantastic selection of food that keeps me coming back. The vibe is always upbeat, making each shopping trip enjoyable. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to check out their floral section and snag some blooms along with your snacks!

I used to love Trader Joe’s, but this is the second time I’ve found bugs in a sealed bag. Pretty ironic considering it says “washed and ready to use” on the packaging.

Google
I'm super pumped about this new store! It's way bigger than the one on Metropolitan Avenue and has tons more options. There are two massive elevators to take you downstairs along with escalators, and everything feels fresh and new. Plus, there are bunch of registers and plenty of room to wander around. Definitely stoked about this place!

Google
This has to be one of the best Trader Joe’s I’ve ever been in. I was shocked by how large it is. I’ve never seen a grocery store in New York quite like it. The aisles are really wide, great selection, and they even have security. Probably the biggest selection I’ve seen at a Trader Joe’s as well. Highly recommend checking out the prepared food section. Also, they have a really efficient checkout area at this location. All around a pretty great experience.

Google
Might be the best TJ’s I’ve ever been to. The aisles are so luxuriously wide as opposed to a lot of other locations. Only reason I’m giving 4 starts is because their produce isn’t very good but that’s across the board at every location. If they had fresh produce it would be a one stop shop! Also, I’ll give extra points to the staff because 99% of them are always friendly and helpful.

Trader Joe's is quickly becoming our go-to spot for groceries! The store has a fantastic selection of unique and high-quality products at reasonable prices, making it hard to shop anywhere else. Their snacks, frozen meals, and fresh produce always impress, and we love discovering new items with each visit. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, which adds to the overall pleasant shopping experience. While the store layout can sometimes feel a bit crowded, especially during peak hours, it's manageable with some patience. If there's one area for improvement, it would be expanding certain sections like fresh produce and deli items. More variety in those areas would make the store even better. Overall, Trader Joe's is a solid choice for affordable, interesting groceries and a friendly atmosphere!

Yelp
I love Trader Joe's and with this location I've never had a bad experience. The staff are always helpful with any questions or concerns brought up and the groceries I've purchased have always been good. It's an organized store (of course) and I love that it's convenient. The escalators and elevators make it more accessible. The only downside and reason I've given 4 instead of 5 stars is that you have zero cell service once you get on the escalators. Can be a bit of a pain if you're shopping for a specific recipe or need to call someone but just prep ahead.

Yelp
I remember when Trader Joe's was not national. People who had it raved. I am glad they have stores in every city I frequent (my wife and I live in different places, and I have to check on my elderly father who is still on his own; I'm in three of the major metropolitan areas of the US on a regular basis, rotating around). Their business model is great. There has not been anything I have ever purchased that has caused buyer's remorse. The downside is they don't have a comprehensive selection of goods. And they typically have the one brand, whether their house label or something else. That is fine. Every Trader Joe's I have ever been in, regardless of the time of day, has been bustling. That is good or bad depending on your personality and your mood. I would be if you were shy or averse to being in a crowd (the paranoid version is "enochlophobia," which I just looked up), you would not come here. If you happen to like the festivity of it all, and you were sitting alone in your apartment, this would be an appropriate remedy, a good means to get out and about, even if you are anonymous. Although I have not conducted a scientific sample, this specific outlet seems to me even busier than the one over on Metropolitan Avenue in Rego Park (I had thought Forest Hill, but I don't know the exact boundaries in that vicinity). That is my last note, of farewell. I live much closer to here than the other Trader Joe's, which I had been using. So this is now the one for me.

Yelp
This Trader Joe's is extremely convenient for Forest Hills residents in the area, being just a couple of blocks from the transit hub at 71st Ave - Continental Ave with the E, F, M & R trains and multiple bus lines. With the many customers from the high rise apartment buildings along Queens Blvd, Jewel Ave and Yellowstone Blvd, it gets pretty busy down here all the way until closing. There is no parking lot like other suburban TJ's, but there is an underground parking garage in the same building, but I don't know the cost or if there is validation. My preference is coming to shop in the evenings and Sundays when I can park along Queens Blvd for free. The store is located in the basement of this new apartment building and you take the escalator or elevator down to the selling floor where you can pick up your shopping cart. I prefer the double-stack carts because they are more maneuverable even though the aisles are wider than your normal TJ's, but it does get crowded, so getting around people is more important, especially when they leave their carts in the middle of an aisle. All the standard items seen at other TJ's are stocked here and the crew here do a great job to keep shelves stocked all day. What you'll always see in my cart and others is the great looking fresh produce, especially the bananas that are 19¢ each (29¢ for organic). My wife loves their prepared salads for their convenience to take for weekday lunches. I like the frozen quick-prepare meals that I can whip up in minutes when I get home from work. The Kung Pao Chicken is excellent for that, is very tasty and you can enhance the dish by adding more veggies or garnishes. The checkout lines are managed very well with 2 main lines that are distributed up to 30 registers by an associate sending you to an open register. Look for your assigned sales associate with the raised number paddle to pay for your groceries. Then take your goodies home, cook and enjoy!

Yelp
Very spacious new location. They were pretty well stocked in the middle of the day. The isles are wide and checkout went very quickly. Parking is a pain, but it's not a location where one needs a car so it's understandable.

Yelp
The new location in Forest Hills just opened about 2 mins ago. The location is great for the area, but parking is hard to find. Subway transit and busses are easily accessible. The store is in the basement. There is plenty of space to move around with their shopping carts. The store is very clean and check out is fast. I bought a few frozen meals. The one Im trying is spicy peanut noodle bowl with chicken. The noodle bowl was very tasty. Smells delicious. Noodles were soft, seasoned very well, and a little bit of heat. I enjoyed my meal for lunch. I would definitely get it again

Yelp
The new Trader Joes supermarket, in Forest Hills is finally open! Nice wide aisles. Very huge and spacious, with an area of 17,000 square feet. A long time in waiting and it's finally open. Gotta come here and get my ice cream fix on. They have the new seasonal flavors of Celebration Cake Gelato, Gingerbread ice cream and super premium pumpkin ice cream. Try them while they last, after the season is over, they won't be available until next year. If you are into desserts, this place has a pretty good selection. Their double chocolate muffins is super yummy. A new favorite is orange scones which which look and taste like from an expensive bakery. Perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee. They also have tasty gluten free options. No into cooking tonight? Great selection of frozen meals. Decor: The interior is decorated with a rich comic book history of Forest Hills. This place is a great substitute for the small supermarket which was originally in this spot. Grand opening on Tuesday, so there was a line down the block but it moved quickly. This place is usually crowded during popular hours. But they do have a lot of registers. Street parking only.

Yelp
New store right on Yellowstone and Queens Blvd which is a good location but not. That area gets very busy during rush hours. The store itself is downstairs which you can take an elevator or escalator and stairs. It's huge and it's very nicely laid out. Plenty of space between aisles and it's not as cramped as other locations I've been too. Plenty of registers and as usual, TJ's is good at keeping the line moving.

Caroline N.

Yelp
This TJ location opened yesterday and it's close to commercial and residential areas. You can get to this location by subway or bus though trying to find parking might be a challenge similar to TJ's LIC location. In this location, it's 1 floor. You can use the escalator or the elevator to reach the shopping area. As you walk in, you are in the flower section both potted and cut flowers. The layout is a bit different from other locations though it takes a bit of getting used to. Tried finding some of the items though this location doesn't have them. If you are looking for kimbaps, it's gone so keep checking since there might be another shipment arriving soon. The crowds weren't too bad though I went during off-hours or non-peak times. Hope you enjoy your TJ goodies.

James M.

Yelp
This is the worst managed Trader Joe that I've seen. The least helpful, the rudest cashiers. And several items stacked under the wrong signs. Nothing has price tags. I shouldn't have to pre-scan everything to double check their work. No feedback form on the website, or on the receipt. So I have write it here.

See S.

Yelp
Thank God. Finally, there's a Trader Joe's in Forest Hills. Although they don't carry as much organic food as wholefoods. I really like their nuts, dried fruits, snacks, organic chicken, etc. The pizza crackers are my favorite. I buy their dog treats all the time, too. But, surprisingly, they don't have lambcrops. I saw it in their Union Square store before. I wish they will keep the store nice and clean!

Teresa S.

Yelp
Woo hoo, a trader Joe's I can walk to and not worry about crazy parking like the one near Woodhaven Blvd in Queens. I love this TJ because it's big, spacious, bright, and very welcoming. I've been there when it is crowded, and I still didn't feel like people were smothering me. I've visited when the store first opens, and that's heaven, lol. You can take your time and walk around to check out some of the new items. Parking is very tight and limited within the area. You cant get internet service to check out item reviews. LOL They have tons of cashiers who are always friendly and work fast. This is definitely my new go to TJ's that's so close to home, yipppeee!

Yelp
I frequently shop at Trader Joe's Metropolitan Ave and Garden City by driving. Am happy that this location opened and I only have to drive my shopping cart. :) Opening day today so expected a long line. It went almost around the block but it moved so fast and I was inside in about 10 minutes. Was welcomed by live music and a free shopping bag (I heard the first 100 customers got a bag of goodies). The store space is huge. 2 elevators and escalators get you there. No cell signal though. Nice to see everything neatly stocked, new carts and baskets too. I don't have to over-buy bec. can just return when needed. So many employees to help customers and check out is efficient. Accessible by the Q60 bus on Queens Boulevard and around 3-4 blocks from 71st Continental Ave subway. Within the first week though, one of the escalators are not working, then one of the elevators too.

Yelp
Beyond glad that there's a location in Forest Hills! I come here all the time to pick up groceries or simply browse for snacks (duh). It's very spacious and the workers are some of the nicest that I've ever met, even by Trader Joe's standards! I don't have many negatives to comment on besides the fact that there's no cell signal once you're on the floor, which can get pretty inconvenient if you're trying to look up ingredients or even brands/items if you're following certain dietary restrictions, and that their freezer item stock sometimes runs low, even on weekdays. I also wish that they offered samples more regularly, but overall, truly can't complain with how convenient it's become in the neighborhood!

Marina C.

Yelp
I actually don't like Trader Joe's as much as I did years... ago. The selections are pretty much the same but I noticed that a lot of the things they sell are really high in sodium or sugar so I didn't buy as much as before. I kept putting stuff back after I looked at the nutritional label or the ingredients. It wasn't too busy around 7pm on the weekend. Really spacious.. convenient location. So even though I don't love their food as much as before... but it's still nice to buy certain things there. I hope their butter chicken is just as good as it was before. Prices are great.. everyone's nice..

Yelp
I wished that this Trader Joe's opened up a lot sooner!!! I normally shop at the Trader Joe's Soho or Trader Joe's UES locations. This Trader Joe's is quite big and spacious. Their inventory seems to have all of the essentials and seasonal items. Unfortunately, I still didn't get to try or find the Trader Joe's kimbap here (or any other Trader Joe's) yet. The staff here are also kind and friendly. This Trader Joe's is a nice addition to the Forest Hills neighborhood. It's conveniently located to the major train lines (I.e. E, F, M, and R lines).

Lisa C.

Yelp
Pretty nice TJ! + Very convenient location (close to 71st E/F trains and Q60 bus) and not too far from Austin street restaurants + Did not feel crowded + Well-stocked and spacious aisles + Checkout lines moved quickly + Has an escalator and elevator for accessibility (TJ is located in the basement of the building) I like this location much better than the one of Woodhaven Blvd. The store at Woodhaven gets way too crowded and the aisles are not as wide. However, please note that this location does not have a parking lot and street parking is very limited.

Angela L.

Yelp
This is much larger than the one on Metropolitan. It is brightly lit and the aisles are nice and wide. They also seem to have items in stock with the same variety as the other locations. The cashiers are quick and friendly. The staff is helpful. The downside, it is in the basement so there is no signal at all. You can't call out or text which is difficult if you are trying to see if someone needs something. There is also no parking around the area. Your shopping is limited by how much you can carry by cart unless you can have someone drive quickly by so you can jump in. A good addition to the area still.

JiHae L.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out the new trader joes in Forest Hills ever since I read about it before it even opened up. I'm glad that it finally opened up, and I was able to browse around and pick up a few items. When you enter, there are escalators going up and down. There are shopping carts as well, both by the entrance on top and below, after you go down all of the escalators. There are elevators for your assistance, too. It's fairly large and very organized. All of the cash registers were filled with cashiers, so the line moved along at a great pace. All in all, I'm glad they made another location. I hope they make more in different parts of the queens area.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Really exciting news for this community. Newly opened on 11/7/23 and it's already hustling and bustling. This store is super spacious and fully stocked in the AM. Lines aren't long in the morning when it opens.

Ruby F.

Yelp
Trader Joes in Forest Hills has finally opened! I no longer need to travel to Metropolitan for my TJ runs. Its super spacious inside and fully stocked with items. The staff and cashier were helpful and friendly in helping me find a specific item I was looking for.

Michelle C.

Yelp
This subterranean TJ must be new because it is located under a fairly new looking residential building. The space is absolutely massive, and you get a good bird's eye view from the equally gargantuan staircase leading down to the store. The street parking situation might be a little dicey on the weekends but there is an underground parking garage I believe. All in all, I believe your best bet is to take the train to Forest Hills-71 Av (E/F) station. As a bonus, you can walk across the very busy Queens Blvd to Forest Hills Bagel for a treat afterwards. The staff here literally go above and beyond to help locate items for you. I can say that with absolute certainty because I led a few employees on a little goose chase to find my Snacky Clusters (they were unfortunately out of stock in the end). My new favorite Queens TJ location!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Absolutely love this TJ's! It's big, spacious and very clean. Staff is very nice and it has a wide selection of everything we love from Trader Joe's. I will probably never return to the other TJ's on Metropolitan. That one made me claustrophobic. There's not really much parking so that's the only bummer.

Mike L.

Yelp
Went to Trader Joe's recently. My first time in any Trader Joe's. Store is located on the lower level accessible by elevator and stairs. Store is huge and has very wide aisles so easy to navigate. Big selection and prices seemed very reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful. My only issue was there wasn't an easy way to find things as there wasn't any signs indicating what was in each aisle. You basically had to walk around until you found what you were looking for unless you could find an employee you could ask. I guess you would get to know the store layout as you shop there more often. It's several blocks further away from my regular grocery store but the selection and prices are better so I'll be there more often.

Lin Y.

Yelp
It's about time you opened up a bigger store than the one on Metropolitan Avenue! This one you have to go down under to see, as two short escalators brings you down to a good sized Trader Joe's. There are also stairs and an elevator so all modes to accessibility check out! Lots of product and fast moving lines. Workers are helpful and found the pie crusts for me! Yay! Thank you! There is breathing room here unlike the smaller location at Metropolitan. I am not sure if there is parking but hoofing it works for me! Same great products at reasonable prices!

Glenda K.

Yelp
This is A much newer branch of The Trader Joe's on Metropolitan Avenue that is A bit delapidated. I went there for the first time through an elevator to The Cellar(There is also an escalator as an alternative.) Once the elevator door opened I was immediately taken by how vast and organized the establishment was. I didn't know where to look first so I asked A worker to show me around A bit so I can get acclimated to the Stores wares. I found this worker to be polite and helpful in guiding me around to the different sections such as The frozen section that was quite plentiful as opposed to your local Supermarket. The food items were exciting to see, as the choices seemed endless. Everything is packed neatly and cleanly. He also took me to another area where he told me the store gets fresh eggs daily . He explained to me(I am A novice and never was familiar with any Trader Joe's except by neighbors' comments)that Trader Joe's items are all their own (you will never see commercial brands that you buy in let's say A Key Food etc.)Also, He told me that the customer is always right ie., if you are dissatisfied with anything at all that is purchased from A Trader Joe's, you may return it(even so small as A piece of fruit) And gave A fairly long window when you can return it and get your money back! I forgot how much time you are given so I apologize for not taking everything in, in detail as I was overwhelmed (in A good way of course!) Though this was only A tour for me as I didn't yet plan to make A purchase that day, I highly recommend Trader Joe's in Forest Hills with all of it's accouterments to boot. I was even told that they have A rest room there as well though I didn't take the time to discover it's existence. On my way out, I saw A security guard and found him to be quite friendly as well in his protection of the store. I plan in the future to make A few purchases but simply love the layout and what it has to offer anyone who needs A change of pace from the norm. Yes, Yes, Yes! Come one, Come All!. Just go there!

Lucia R.

Yelp
Who knew as adults we would find grocery stores exciting!! lol I'm soooo happy I now have a Trader Joe's walking distance! This location is so nice, super spacious too, compared to other TJs. I was so surprised to find they finally opened so I went instantly. Great prices and food as always. Forest hills is now complete with every store you need, right near Austin street .

Taylor B.

Yelp
i wasted my time a lot thinking they was open they there not. seems as if all trader joe's in queens which isn't many are small and have suspect security !

Michelle R.

Yelp
Let me open with this Trader Joe's being large and the layout is great. But, the staff is such a hit and miss. I've been living in Florida; Miami and the surrounding areas tend to have horrible customer service. But, the TJ never disappoints. But, it's odd that the service varies greatly. For the area though, a decent supermarket in Forest Hills was way overdue!!!!!

Samuel C.

Yelp
Total waste of time. I come for cranberry sauce, they bring me to the fruit aisle . Come on. It was no help at all so I went across to Food Universe and they had cranberry sauce in the front. Come on step up ur game..

Tom T.

Yelp
Wow, a great new Trader Joe's. The place was well stocked for their first day, and the staff was friendly. I saw a few products I had never seen before. Also it is very clean.

Sally J.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood... nice big and open and clean store... great products, great fresh flowers, great service ......No need to shop elsewhere.. FINALLY !!

Lihao L.

Yelp
They have limit for 2 kimbap for each person but i didn't see the sign anywhere in the store. Hope it's not the lie from the cashier.

Megan K.

Yelp
The best store around here! Sooo glad they opened a good supermarket finally around here!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Large supermarket with interesting items. It's on the basement level. Reachable by elevator, escalator, and stairs. Great selection and good prices. Aisles aren't marked so finding things takes more effort. Somewhat crowded.

Fred G.

Yelp
I've been lately purchasing from this store since it opened up, I had purchased many items and one of them was organic milk, I later came to realize when, I was putting it in the fridge that it didn't have a expiration date, on Friday I had gone back to return it and the store was closed, posting on the door said store was closed that day because of equipment failure, tried going back to the store on Tuesday after coming back from work, when I got to the door the time was 9pm on my phone and the door was closed, by the time I got the security guard attention it was 9:01, I had explained to the security guard that I just needed to do was a return, he was firm that he couldn't let me in, by now it was 9:03 and I was on the phone with a manager by the name of Jonathan which wasn't very helpful even after I explained that I was already inconvenient on Friday, the manager could of been more understanding and Courteous being that I am a frequent customer and this would of been the second time I was at the store dealing with this issue.
