Traditional Tainan Feast (Anping)

"With red lanterns, spring couplets, red floral tablecloths and chair cushions, this nostalgic place embodies the Chinese festival atmosphere. Since 2010, it has been attracting diners with well-made Tainan snacks and century-old classics such as Danzai noodles and oyster omelette, best enjoyed with a glass of winter melon tea. Private rooms are decorated with maps of ancient Tainan and named after its different neighbourhoods." - Michelin Inspector

Xie Shopkeeper

"This restaurant is a relative newcomer in this city swamped by century-old stalls, but it has made a name for itself since 2018 thanks to fresh seafood cooked to order. Its renowned milkfish and assorted seafood congee (more like soupy rice) is lavishly topped with fish skin, fish balls, fish meat, shrimps, clams and cuttlefish, imparting deep seafood umami. Steamed seafood in salt is also popular – try steamed giant grouper for its gelatinous texture." - Michelin Inspector

Came on a Thursday afternoon at 12.30pm - not crowded at all Food was interesting! Worth a try if you’re in Tainan

The 5* reviews are fake. They all have the same generic messages and get posted at the same time. The food was dry and bland and the restaurant was completely empty. Ruined a lovely day in Tainan. We were recommended this "caviar" which is one of the most inedible things I've ever been served at a restaurant.

With a tour group. Walking in from the main door, you will be treated with a grand entrance of the oriental dinning hall view. So the more popular dishes are generally served to the tourists. Had their signature Egg Noodle (蛋蛋面). Silky egg noodle with Clear soup. For a Singaporean like me, Fish porridge is good. 清淡。meat balls are tasty. First serving is the cold dish. A very local dining restaurant. The egg noodle is a must try. I believe they should have very good dishes for dinner. Yes, highly recommended. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Highly recommended if you want to try out all the traditional Tainan deli in one place. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. The food tastes much more better than I thought, do try out the Dan Zai Noodle, tofu pudding, as well as the set menu here ( best for group of 2-3 people ) Expect some of the local dishes does not match your taste bud, for example the thick soup is too sweet for me, but overall I think it’s a pleasant dining experience. Would definitely come back for more :)

Pretty good food. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The decor is awe-inspiring with tall ceilings and intricately carved light fixtures and wood trim. Truly stunning.

Only went here because of the high rating on google but it turns out those glowing reviews are clearly made by a bot after closer inspection. The food was really quite bad and the place is nothing more than a tourist trap designed to empty your wallet and ruin your appetite. And we followed the waiters’ recommendations, so you can’t even say we ordered badly! Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear. One star (which I very rarely leave).

Great variety of dishes to choose, food is ok. The cashier was very rude and impatient. We spoke mandarin with her, she couldn’t have misunderstand us. The place looks classy but the service is bad.
