When in Greenville, my husband and I had a wonderful meal at The Trappe Door. One of his friends who is a local but spent time in Belgium recommended it to us. I do recommend making a reservation ahead of time, arriving when they open (at 5 PM), or planning to sit at the bar.
We started with the Wild mushroom vol-au-vent ($13) appetizer, which was rich and delicious- definitely not your ordinary mushrooms, and I loved the puff pastry. I had the Pan seared salmon ($28) for my entree and loved how the flavors blended together, especially the marinated tomato salad.
My husband had the Provencal Mussels, which came with a huge piece of bread on top for soaking (although I wish you could order an extra bread because he needed it). This dish also came with a side of fries. When you order fries here, you get the choice of three creative flavored mayonnaise options. You can opt for ketchup if you're less adventurous.
Although our food did take awhile to come out, the service was good and our waiter checked on us multiple times. It was rather busy so as I mentioned earlier, make a reservation and don't be in a hurry.
The bar has a huge selection of Belgian and European beers, as well as mixed drinks and some NA options. For parking, there is a surface lot next door and a garage across the street. Parking is thankfully cheap in downtown Greenville (and free after certain hours).
