"Located just a few metres from Piazza De Ferrari, this restaurant offers an outdoor space and three dining rooms with a pleasant and informal ambience. It is the quality of the cuisine that strikes you at Rosmarino, where the classic Ligurian meat and fish dishes are prepared from top-quality ingredients. Highlights include the “brandacujun” salted cod, the borage ravioli, and the “sbira” tripe." - Michelin Inspector

The dishes are great, well balanced and very tasty. However, the overall experience is diminished by a very hasty service, crowded seating, little attention from the staff and a alcohol free drinks menu consisting of water, fanta and cola. This last fact was also noticed by a pregnant lady next to us and she did not appreciate it. How can you have 20 wines but only 3 alcohol free options in 2025?

We went here because of the Michelin bib gourmand mention (which means it has good price compared to quality). We ordered the meat which was supposed to be one of the star dishes but it let us down. It was overcooked and also had too much balsamic sauce which made it very bitter.

Food was good - enjoyed the lasagne and the fish and potato salad starter but service was way too fast, which is great for hungry souls who just want to eat and go. For those who want to have a proper socialising meal, I feel the pace is too rush and tables are too closed together - can overhear conversations and wine got knocked off the table as someone was passing by the table.

We had dinner at the place and of course we had pasta with pesto the iconic one 👌🏻💚 It was delicious, the pesto was so fresh that you can really understand the difference. We didn’t have the reservation, since we prefer to sit outside to feel the ambiance of Piazza De Ferrari. By considering it’s a favorite and wellknown restaurant with also Michelin recommended the prices were quite reasonable too! We started with beef tartare and had a local red wine 🍷 In brief, it’s highly recommended 🙂

A beautiful place that gets full very quickly! Make a reservation and get three courses for sure! Loved it. The waiters were so kind, the atmosphere was lovely, and of course delicious food!

Good food and fast service. Thank you for the no reservation table , we didn’t wait at all !!! The view is good and the wine perfect. We had the pasta and a Genova cheesecake . I recommend you.

Google
Seriously confused by its popularity. Trofie pesto was bland & watery, black pasta with branzino & capers was wildly underdressed, side of zucchini nothing special. Salt cod mousse & lasagna were excellent, baked tomatoes very good. With small portions at above average prices, I personally wouldn't return.

Second time here and the food, service and vibe is great. The beef tartare is exceptional and their specials hit hard too. Good wine choices too. A favourite of Genova

Yelp
Arrived 30 min before lunch ended (no reservations) on a weekday, and the waiter graciously squeezed our party of 3 in. A few individuals came around 10 min later, and were turned away. However, some opted to be added to the dinner reservation list. The restaurant is very busy, and waitstaff are bustling around. There was a sizable lunch group, so they can accommodate large groups. Everything we had was delicious. They are part of the "slow food" movement, and the dedication showed in their food. We ordered: Lasagna - I've never had a lasagna like this. Very, VERY thin sheets of pasta supporting layers of tomato and pesto sauce. The portion size was on the smaller side. Fantastic. Pesto - When in Genoa, you must try pesto! Perfectly al dente tossed in a vibrant and fresh pesto sauce. Seafood pasta - special of the day ~ I think this had mussels and local veggies, was pretty good. Fish + potato - This was a toss-up, but a unique (at least to us) combination. Fish flesh is mixed with mashed potatoes. Prominent fish flavor and heavy on the tongue, likely due to fat/flavor added to the potatoes. Finished with a dessert (pine nut cake) that we honestly could have done without. Highly recommend the lasagna and pesto.

Yelp
Outstanding. We really loved this, maybe even more than Il Genovese (our other favorite in Genoa). We got all three pastas on the menu -- the trofie and ravioli with meat sauce were both excellent, but the lasagna absolutely stole the show. The eggplant in it especially was really surprising and amazing. Then we got their squid skewer, which was truly incredible. We also loved their marinated tomatoes, which came with olive bits and capers on top.

Yelp
We made reservations via what's app and we enjoyed our meal. Food was good but it was very busy. It was difficult to request anything additional, water, wine, more napkins, etc...We had still and sparkling water and for some reason we kept getting the room temperature bottles where we saw colder bottles come out of the fridge for others. We ordered many dishes and shared everything. The pig and fig was the stand out dish. The pastas were ok. The experience was OK. Service was just ok. Food was ok as well. We enjoyed our meal, but it wasn't my favorite

Yelp
The lasagna was the best dish by far. Everything else fell flat. They were able to seat us in their outdoor space without a reservation. Their service and wine recommendations were on point as well!

Yelp

Yelp
Cute upscale casual trattoria that is a bit more modern. They have tablets with some English translations and can also communicate fairly well in English. The place is on the smaller side and is intimate. Menu seems to change daily. The pesto here is fantastic -- more on the nutty and basil side than parmesan side. The gnocchi can be quite filling though. The monk fish tasted great but I did find it weird it was cooked in a plastic bag or at least served in one. The octopus ragu pasta was fantastic. Wine is incredibly reasonably priced at around 3-5 euros. Overall this place delivered the traditional superbly well and managed to surprise me with dishes I've never heard of or imagined. Would come back again. Good deal for the money!

Yelp
This was a restaurant recommendation by my AirBnB host in Genova (Genoa). This place is located in a small alley and is tightly packed inside. But, oh, the food is delicious, even the focaccia bread, which I normally don't care for. My waiter provided good recommendations on the white wine to go with my food and I left a happy camper. I got the Trofie al pesto Genovese and the Polpo/patate/prezzemolo. I'd return to this place if I ever find myself in Genoa again.

Yelp
Nice small restaurant in hidden in a small lane next door to the square and Piazza de Ferrari. Perfect food and wine and elegant green themed decent interior decoration.

Yelp
Lovely little restaurant that serves amazing food at very reasonable prices. The menu is all in Italian but they very helpfully bring around a tablet with English translations - not always the best of translations but the lovely waitress was happy to explain some of the dishes. The menu is relatively short but contained some very interesting sounding dishes. I started with creamed salt cod, which has a gorgeous creamy texture. As expected it was very salty, any more so and it would have been unpleasant to eat. I tend to like salty food and so really enjoyed this dish. For my primi course I had crispello (a large crepe) filled with fish, ricotta, and spinach. The crepe was lovely and crisp on the outside and the filling was creamy and flavoursome. It was surrounded by a gorgeously bright green basil sauce which added a nice freshness to the dish. My secondi was braised veal cheek, which had a meltingly tender texture and literally could be cut using my fork. It had a little too much fat for my liking, but I think that is just the cut of the meat. It was also very easy to just remove the fat so it didn't detract too much from the dish. Dessert was chocolate mousse which was very pleasant but for me the weakest dish of the meal. I enjoyed it but it didn't wow me, like the rest of the meal had. For the price we paid (just over 100 euros for four courses for 2 people plus 2 bottles of wine - it was a very leisurely meal....) I thought this was an exceptional restaurant. I'd advise booking or arriving early. We were there on a Thursday evening and within about 30 minutes the place was packed.

Yelp
Trattoria Rosmarino is a restaurant in a side street off the piazza de Ferrari in central genoa very popular with locals and the occasional tourist. We arrived on a Monday just before 12.30pm in time for the lunch service, there were already other diners waiting for the restaurant to open. The Italian handwritten lunch menu is displayed on chalkboards around the restaurant wall although they have an English translation on a tablet. As we were due to catch a train to Milan we only had enough time for a quick meal. To start we shared an octopus cannelloni, followed by mains of grilled prawn and calamari. My friend went for the oven cooked morone fish with scampi sauce. Both main courses were fresh and tasty, the morone fish was the better of the two. We did not have time for dessert as we had already missed the 1.40pm train so needed to catch a slightly later express train but I did observe that they appeared to be well presented and very good value at €5. Within 20 minutes of opening the restaurant was filled with local shoppers and business people so it is advisable to book especially for dinner to avoid disappointment. Note that the restaurant is closed on Sundays like most other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Hidden treasure in Genoa! Lovely place in the city, menu/specials always changing, fresh seafood presented in innovated ways. Excellent wine list. The place is small and always full, make a reservation!

Yelp
Restaurant is laid out in a modern-italian style and can be quite crowded and loud. It's very easy to overlook this as the the food, service, selection and prices are fantastic! The menu was provided on an Android tablet, which I would normally think of as tacky, but actually worked exceptionally well for the international customer base. It seems to be translated automatically using Google Translate - but better than nothing. I actually hope more restaurants consider implementing this. We tried to go here on the first night in Genoa, and it was closed. Our mistake - make sure you check the opening hours first. If you are a tourist in Genoa, I highly recommend trying this place out (just double check it's open).
