Traxx Restaurant

This was the perfect place to have dinner while we were waiting for our train. The location inside Union Station is iconic. The service was very good and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the chicken panini. It was perfectly done, the chicken was tender, and the flavoring was very savory. The side salad with a light dressing was the perfect fresh accompaniment. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for a nice restaurant with most items well below $20. We will be back!

What a classy and elegant place this is I absolutely just had to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere of the union station and Los Angeles But I was craving a bowl of soup and they had just the answer for me, the pozole Suffering a little from congestion, the freshly sliced onions crunched in my mouth. It needs to buy the chicken is so flavorful and the tortilla is perfect. I wish I had a bigger bowl, but then I never would’ve loved. The staff is incredibly professional. I really like them a lot I’ll be back. Hopefully, I’ll try the tomato bisque.

Biggest reason to eat here is for convenience and atmosphere. Located in Union Station, the view in their indoor patio is stunning. They don’t really offer the widest range of food or something that you can really order in a pinch unless you’re down for a salad.

They clearly didn't put any thought or care into this salad The Waldorf salad was just terrible. The leaves were so old that they were turning brown, and the apples were actually pears. The ranch dressing was just thrown in the box, and the walnuts had cinnamon on them like a breakfast cereal. The posole was even worse. I couldn't stand the taste, so I just had to throw it out after a few bites. It's like they didn't even care about making it taste good. I used to go to this restaurant every week, but I definitely won't be going back after this experience.

Love this place! Been coming here and introducing my friends to this bar for a couple of years. Only the friendliest people and the staff take care of you like they are the owner. The owner’s name is Chris. He’s lovely and always smiling. Happy hour is great and I always stop in when using Amtrak (the bar and restaurant is in Union Station).

Excellent place to while away the layover time on Amtrak. Locals and traveller's enjoy each other's company. 5 minute walk to Chinatown. Highly recommend. Great staff. No

The Brussel sprouts are delicious! I usually go if I miss my Metrolink train. Place is lively and busy when there's a home Dodger game. Solid drinks and stiff drinks

High end American grill classics at a reasonable price served INSIDE Union Station? Yes please! This place is a must visit if you are in DTLA or happen to be in Union Station... it is a very unique experience. I really enjoyed the 'patio' seats where you could people-watch while you wait for your food, there's never a dull moment in the station. While service was a bit slow (it wasn't busy), it was worth the wait, the food was delicious! My son had the fried chicken sandwich, and I had the angus burger. The fries were amazing, thin, crispy, and lightly seasoned... the whole lunch was delightful and really capped off our visit to the station.

Our big group sat outside, and it was my first time trying out this restaurant. The weather mostly felt nice and just a tad chilly at times. We had the grilled cheese & tomato soup, Traxx burger, chicken panini, veggie burger, and hummus. I ordered the grilled cheese & tomato soup ($16) which also came with a free salad. Including my share of tax and tip, I paid $20.40 for my meal. I liked dipping the sandwich in the tomato soup. It reminded me well of comfort food, and I felt full afterward. The tomato soup's texture leans more on the thinner side. The menu didn't say that the grilled cheese & tomato soup comes with a free salad, but our server let us know when someone ordered it. I initially wanted the chicken panini but switched at the last minute. Regarding the dining experience, I had the impression that our server got surprised that we had ten people in our party. I felt neutral toward the customer service here because the server didn't feel welcoming to us. Regardless, the restaurant accommodated all our requests.

This was a great experience for me. The perfect escape from the beautiful chaos happening in Union Station. Service was fantastic and the food was great. Stopped in before catching a train. Will definitely be keeping Traxx in mind for future commutes. Calamari was a huge surprise. A lot better than I expected. Crispy and plentiful. Birria Tacos were also pretty good and the perfect snack before resuming my travels.

Cool Art Deco vibe and very clean. Service was slow. I had to ask for an update on my one item that was already 30 min wait for toast. When I received it I was soo disappointed. It was obviously burnt , very hard and cold. I had to ask for my refund and I hope to see that in a few days. I guess restaurant can burn toast. Two stars for the ambiance.

Before taking the Amtrak to Santa Barbara, I came early to Union Station to explore this gorgeous building and take time to have lunch. I was super happy to see they had a great sit down option at Traxx right past the entrance of the station They had a private event happening on their patio so I opted to sit on their interior patio which offered great AC and people watching seating I went with their popular grilled cheese and vegan tomato soup combo. It hit the spot! The soup doesn't have a traditional creamy base and was a bit light on seasoning...so I added a few dashes of Tapatio which boosted the flavor a couple notches The ambiance was great and staff was super friendly. Shoutout to James who was awesome Will come back to try more of their delicious menu items on my next trip from Union Station

Ugh. I remember having such a good meal here...3 years ago. Stopped by with a friend and had really bad food. I mean really bad. Caesar salad with wilted, brown-edged lettuce, calamari that tasted stale and undercooked. Basically yuck. Maybe it's better at dinner but I don't think I'll take a chance.

I hate to bad mouth this business. I tried to like it. Went in on 11/01/2024 after the Dodgers Parade. Business was slow so we were allowed to walk in and sit. The business was not prepared for the onslaught of guests to arrive. Slow, service, hot beer, steak sandwiches was below mediocre. Line out the door with poor/bad attitude. Our waitress was unfriendly, slow and unresponsive. The other waiter (dork w/tattoos) said we needed to ask our waitress if we needed anything (really) this place blows.

For me, it was like going to a party. I love the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Oh my God it is so delicious. It is what cheers me up plus the bartender was really cool. We got to listen to a bunch of great music. Enjoy the ambience I wish I could eat more of these sandwiches though they're so delicious , I'm gonna come back and try the macaroni and cheese

Dropped in to try their vegan burger before boarding the Amtrak train back to SD. Loved the personal service by the beautiful bartender. It would be even better if they had WIFI; I would have stayed there and had another beer. A side of pretzels or nuts and WIFI would transform this place.

Chill place to escape the hustle in union station. Good food and drinks. Service is fast and reliable.

Stopped by to my old stomping grounds, loved every minute of it from a customer's point of view. Something about that fresh AM coffee hits different with the music in the background and the chatter. Till next time Traxx

Thanksgiving Eve on my way to San Diego. Yummy. Love the floating tortilla chip and tiny bites of radishes. Jason is amazing. Happy with a hustle! Highly recommend.

Traxx is located on the Alameda Street side of Union Station, near the entrance. There are 2 section, the restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Across the walkway is Traxx Bar that serves cocktails, beer and wine. The restaurant is small and cozy, seating capacity is about 30, booth chairs along one side of the wall with square tables and chairs. The other side has table and chairs only. The kitchen is situated in the back, open and visible to see the cooks at work. The place was empty when I arrived. I started with an Old Fashion with Makers Mark. Mixed well but missing the smashed fruit so it was a strong pour but I enjoyed it. My food order was the Fried Chicken sandwich with Truffle Fries. The chicken was really good, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, with tomato, pickle and a ranch flavored spread. I didn't like the oversized bun on top so I ate without it. Really good. The fries were tasty also, just enough truffle and cheese. At a total cost of $45, I'll be back to check out other items on the menu

We wanted to be sat and served but once I told the host/server we were thinking of getting apps and drinks he kicked us over to the bar, which we were not interested in. Felt rude, or like we didn't fit with their vibe, especially since there was only one other party seated and the rest of the place was empty. I just don't understand why as a server you would kick your potential tip over to another venue. Didn't get a chance to try anything. Decided to just walk away, wait for our train in the lobby, and save our money.

A charming stop inside beautiful Union Station. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. Comfortable seating and the menu just enough choices. The macaroni and cheese with salad was the perfect lunch. Will be back!

Have eaten lunch here several times in the past couple of years due to a long wait for a train back to the OC after a monthly meeting nearby. I have come to really look forward to a quiet refuge from the hubbub of the main station with the unexpected benefit of really solid food. Tried much of the menu, most recently the smoked salmon open face sandwich. Tons of high quality lox, thick cut. Good roll, and very fresh greens on the side. Attentive and friendly service and clean restroom. Not fine dining, but a cut above what you might expect.

Great fried chicken sandwich. Friendly server (Jason). I really loved the downtempo lounge tunes they were playing. It made jury duty a little better.

Terrible. So incredibly disappointing. The offerings reference the original version of the menu and yet every single aspect is the worst possible version. Second time visiting this place. The selection of food is small but tasteful. They are quick in serving you which I like. Restaurant is clean and quiet overall the experience is good.

For some reason I thought Traxx was really elegant at one time. Maybe it was. This review is for the bar. Went on a Friday night and I had a drink at the bar with friends. The bar is across the hall from the restaurant, I guess. The restaurant shuttered early on a Friday night so I'm not sure what that was about. The bar is a very corporate looking, train station bar. It's not craft in any way. They don't have any good original drinks. Bartenders were like you'd get at a stadium, not conversational and seemed frenzied even though there were just a few people waiting for drinks. Two smallish gin martinis were $40 with tax and tip. They need to make this appealing for locals because why would anyone want to come here again? Tell me!

Website says they are open, voice message when you call says they were open...went there today and they were NOT open during business hours listed (we went at 1400). Looking inside it doesn't look like have been or will be opening. There aren't many options at Union Station so was pretty disappointed.

I came to the Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles. On my way to visit my sister I stopped to have some dinner at Traxx Restaurant before my train ride up north. Drink: I ordered a Michelada it was really good. Appetizer: I ordered the Brussels sprouts with bacon and goat cheese. It was a bit salty for my taste but delicious non the less. Main dish: Angus beef cheese burger lettuce wrapped with some garlicky yummy fries. It was really good big and beefy just the way I like it!! Service: The service here was exceptional! I noticed that they treat everyone very well. Even the unexpected customer like in my case. My son surprised me and he sat at my table. The waiter came by greeted him very friendly and took his order. Conclusion: The restaurant is conveniently located inside the Union Station, it's very convenient when you're about to travel but have some time to spare like I did. I had 2 hours to spare. I had a very nice and relaxing dinner and I felt happy with a full tummy on my way to visit my sister. I'm definitely coming back again!

The food ( steak sandwich with amazing Ajou sauce ‼‼‼‼‼) . The specialty beer was GREAT . The service was fantastic. ( I do have food and beverage background). The price was reasonable.

Another AWESOME event at TRAXX last night. The patio was so beautifully lit, the food was delicious and my guests had such a great time. Love having parties here... the staff is so wonderful and everyone always enjoys themselves. Highly recommend!

Nice cozy place to eat something delicioso while waiting to take your next ride on metrolink Since we retired we hace been traveling by train lately to LA it's great experience and save us Lots of money in gasoline My honey loves it So everything we past by this little fancy cozy restaurant inside the train station and always we wanted to try it so finally we did it and we enjoy it food was good decent portions fresh service very attentive , friendly and helpful we had a great time relaxing while waiting to be aboard to go home well recommended to family and friends any time you visit Union station

Service was horrible! Not sure if had something to do with train event but even more reason you should be staffed and ready to handle the additional crowds. Waited over an hour to get the food and 3 of the 4 meals showed up. Brought to waiter's attention with no apologies or not even an ounce of hustle to try to get it right. Ended up canceling the 4th meal and actually considered dashing. Manager finally got involved and did discount the bill but not enough for the bad scene. Old couple next to us with diabetic in the party had to eat crackers one of our girls happened to have on her. Pathetic!

I've arranged for two business lunch meetings at Traxx in the past two months and felt compelled to write this review. This will be my new go-to place for downtown meetings. It is easy to park at Union Station (validated). There is no wait and the server staff is friendly and customer service is excellent. The menu is diverse and extremely inviting. I've had the ceasar kale salad with chicken and the steak sandwich with french fries. Highly recommend - whether you are waiting for the train, or just need a good downtown location to have a quiet business lunch.

Have wanted to go to Traxx since they reopened a few months ago. Went there for lunch today. Had a chicken panini and a glass of Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut Champagne. All the online reviews of Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut Champagne are correct. It is very good. If you are at Traxx, or at the Traxx Bar on the other side of the waiting room, you may want to order a glass (or a bottle) of it. The Chicken Panini was also very good. The service was also very good. Things roll right along, as one hopes they would in a railroad station where some people are having something to eat before boarding their trains. For those boarding Amtrak trains, their meal at Traxx will be the last good meal they have until reaching their destinations. If you are boarding an Amtrak train, order fries with your chicken panini (or whatever you are having).

a fantastic surprise to discover at union station, la it's worth a train trip to eat there! best chicken sandwich and spicy margarita and happy hour! and super host, security, waiter, bus boy, gentleman, poster boy and music man roy is the ulitmate host. great find.

We visited Traxx again for lunch. My wife and I split a Traxx burger & fries. We also split the Boars Bolognese. Wow! Was the Boars Bolognese delicious. The first bite was the wow factor!!! The Traxx burger was excellent as usual! We will come here again!!

Service was bad. Our bartender, a bald dude with a barbell between his eyes and the other 2 behind the bar, some guy with long hair in a tie and a lady with dark hair and glasses gave us the worst service. Ignored, serviced before people who just got there, anything that could annoy you and ruin your experience. Instead of getting another round I closed out my check. $0 tip, well deserved.

The happy hour menu lies: there is an up charge of $3 on drinks that only shows up on the bill not the menu. Eg they charge $13 for a $10 margarita. Otherwise the food is fine. Waiter was very helpful when the first served posole came out of the microwave (I guess) still cold. He brought us a (re?)heated pair without delay. But I still don't understand why he thought that my having drunk the margarita meant that I had to pay more than the advertised price. Strange experience all around.

Visit a few times a month for the juiciest burger i have ever tasted and by far the friendliest staff at the bar. Overall a wonderful place to kill time while waiting for your train. Definitely recommend visiting next time you are in town

Kristian: we did ask to make a reservation but was told that no reservations were being accepted on that date, period. There is no excuse for serving everyone at our table except one and promising to bring it several time during our stay. It was a simple entree salad and the kitchen was sending out salads to other tables.

We had a wonderful lunch at Traxx today while attending Train Fest. The hamburgers were delicious and definitely made to order. Even their plain french fries were so tasty and not greasy. And the homemade brownie was huge and so decadent, As we were the only guests being served, service was excellent and never rushed. We even had a lovely chat with the owners. The ambiance is quite nice, with a tablecloth on each table as well as a candle. We loved the art deco decor as well. It's definitely a restaurant to try when you're at the station, but out of courtesy to the owners, do make an advance reservation. Thank you, Traxx for your part in making our day so special.

I've eaten here before but it had been a few years. I came back from a 3-4 hour train ride from San Diego so I stopped in here to eat. This is a nice, sit down restaurant among the different fast eatery options they have. I ordered the salmon which came with asparagus and potatoes. It was very good. I would definitely eat here again. They also let me charge my phone and they have a bathroom inside instead of having to leave the restaurant and go somewhere far.

Amazing outdoor dining! Happy Hour pate...do not miss...like air butter! Shortribs are delectable! Do not walk, run for a top outdoor dining experience and then walk in the super clean Union Station! Have not seen it cleaner. Coming back for the coq a vin and bread pudding.

Beautiful little spot before traveling with a loved one. Great for a full meal, drinks, or just desserts! My girlfriend & I have been here on multiple occasions with family, friends, and on dates even when not traveling. Can get a bit pricey, but the food is absolutely worth it. IPAs are nice here too. The Mac is a personal fav.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant in Union Station! Ryan, our server was so friendly and nice. I had the Scottish Salmon which was excellent. Very tasty and delicious. The rosemary potatoes were so good! Hubby had the spicy burger and was cooked to perfection. You must try the lemon garlic fries....to die for! A wonderful find in the train station!!

Living in Los Angeles, one has many choices for dining and this week found me visiting a new favorite - Traxx in Union Station. Hankering for an adventure and to try something new, we took the redline to the end and found ourselves at Union Station. The service was great, the food was terrific, and the ambiance was very cool. I highly recommend the hamburger and chicken panini. We found out Traxx had recently reopened under new ownership and I'm happy they did. Anytime you find yourself passing through Union Station, I encourage you to try Traxx. Your taste buds will thank you.

This place is awesome! So nostalgic and the food is super tasty. I ordered a chicken panini because I figured it would be quick as I was waiting for my train...it was fresh, melty goodness for sure. I love the old school train station charm and the staff was so friendly and upbeat. Especially having to deal with all the train station traffic and randos, that's tough to do. The waiter told me there is a new owner, so that's a really good sign. I'll definitely be coming back!

This has been one of my favorite reasons to visit Union Station even if I'm not taking a train so when I found it had reopened on my next trip I made sure there was time to have dinner at Traxx. The food is always first rate the service friendly and it's a nice place to sit and people watch. You won't be disappointed.

Nice bar in the station. We were delayed and enjoyed the people and drinks. Wait staff ok but bar tender sticks only to the menu which was limited. Drinks good. I got silly on the Express Train, Right Brain on the martinis. Met some crazy, some interesting characters and basically had a great time waiting hrs for our train. Appetisers ok, drinks much better. Heard the restaurant was excellent but we were having too good a time just hanging in the bar.

Ok I try not to review after one meal but I must say the "new" Traxx is juuussst fine! I had a New York steak that was just to my liking. The roasted red potatoes were perfect and the asparagus just right. Service from James was on spot. I'm pleased it reopened and the changes to the menu look great. Come enjoy this place. Imperial Western is nice but this is a cut above.

Long-overdue we needed a place like this Traxxx make sure you ask for Greg or Romero to make your drinks !!!!! Outstanding 5 stars

Traxx Restaurant and Traxx Bar (across the hall from the restaurant) are both fantastic. I prefer the energy of the bar. The food is the same in both. They share a kitchen. The food is smart and artsy (and delicious) but not pretentious. Union Station is a dream. Traxx and Union Station together make the only place in LA where you are also in New York -- while also time traveling. Gorgeous and delicious people-watching spot(s)!

My friend and I stopped for lunch while on our pilgrimage through LA. Union Station has been beautifully restored and we were very pleasantly surprised with the quaint restaurant inside. The lunch selection was wonderful , my panini delicious and my friend had amazing homemade tomato soup. We met the young lady up front who turned out to be the new owner with her husband, and her adorable son! They are trying to get by during COVID and have really created a sweet little gem in the heart of the city! Enjoy!

Unfortunately, I've been having car trouble recently so I have been taking the train everywhere. Having a two hour "layover" is never a fun idea. I stumbled across this restaurant Monday morning and they had a decent sized menu for food and drinks. My server was the best. Very fast and efficient, he even remembered my drink order when I came back tonight. I don't think I ever caught his name but if I am ever at Union Station again I will definitely look for him specifically. Thanks! :)
