Tuscan steakhouse with open-hearth grill & pasta lab

"Tre Dita is the first Chicago restaurant from the much-hyped chef behindFelix,Mother Wolf, andFunke, three LA spots that are impossible to get into. It's on the second floor of the St. Regis Hotel in Lakeshore East and has a gorgeous view of the river, art deco archways, and more people in well-pressed suits than a James Bond casting call. But aside from Tre Dita’s “glam factor,” theItalianfood is excellent. Schiacciata topped with olive oil and rosemary can make a steadfast focaccia loyalist fall in love with this fluffier Tuscan cousin. Prawns in salsa verde and a charred rib-eye cap are perfectly seasoned. And since the fancy space isn't over-the-top, you don’t have to worry about overstimulation while twirling creamy pici caccio e pepe, even with a room full of chatty dates, B-list celebs, and 30-somethings bragging about some vague-but-seemingly-very-important “deal.”" - Team Infatuation
"With its classy art deco space, excellent view of the riverview, big booths, and posh location inside the St. Regis Hotel, this Italian spot in Lakeshore East is ideal for a Big Pasta Night Out. More classic-leaning dishes like cacio e pepe with thick pici or spicy rigatoncini all’arrabiata are excellent. But save some table space for the less common ones—we wouldn’t shut up about Tre Dita’s sweet corn-stuffed pasta for weeks. Reservations show up on OpenTable a week in advance at midnight, so you’ll need to stay up to book a dinner that’s later than 4pm but earlier than 9pm. The bar seating at Bar Tre Dita next door is also first come, first serve if you want to try an old-fashioned walk-in (the menu is more limited, but still has many Tre Dita favorite’s like pastas and their fluffy schiacciata)." - john ringor, nick allen, adrian kane
"Tre Dita in the St. Regis has all of the glamor you’d expect from a restaurant inside a five-star hotel: art deco designs, immaculate river views, and top-notch service from staff in well-pressed suits. But the food (from a chef behind buzzy LA Italian spots Funke and Mother Wolf) is even more exceptional than the gorgeous space. Schiacciata drizzled with olive oil can make a die-hard focaccia fan long for this fluffier Tuscan cousin. Prawns in salsa verde and a charred rib eye cap are well-seasoned. And all of the pastas are perfectly tender, like the creamy pici caccio e pepe. Tre Dita is an ideal spot for a big anniversary, birthday, or any special occasion—even if that special occasion is just diving into their rich bowl of duck pappardelle ragu on a Monday night. "Not every romantic outing needs to be a “whole thing”—but when you are trying to make it a “whole thing,” check out Tre Dita in Lakeshore East. First off, this Italian restaurant from the chef behind hyped-up spots like LA’s Funke is in the St. Regis Hotel, so dining in a five-star hotel where a room costs $800 already makes a statement. But even if you don’t plan on booking a room, eating incredible housemade duck ragu pappardelle and drinking excellent Italian wine next to a gorgeous view of the river feels nothing short of luxurious. "Italian, overlooking the river, in the fancy St. Regis hotel, big-name chef—this Lakeshore East spot has “see and be seen” in its DNA. Couples with multiple summer homes linger over a casual $400 bottle of wine, while a rock band wearing cut-off jean vests and graphic tees eat rigatoni in a giant booth. And with the combined magic of dim lighting and remembering to pick up your dry cleaning, you will also feel like a pasta-twirling VIP.
