A lively midtown fixture owned by three sisters from Chihuahua. Sactown Magazine praises its straightforward northern Mexican comfort—the carnitas, chile verde, and margaritas remain crowd-pleasers on the colorful patio.

Google
Had a good experience here today. Chips seemed either store bought old or fried in old oil. They had a slight rancid oil scent. Salsa was fantastic however! Perfect consistency and wonderful deep flavor, not to hot but definitely spicy. Margaritas were very tasty and had a fairly generous pour. Crispy tacos were most tasty. Chicken and Carnitas were excellent. Al Pastor soft tacos burst through the tortillas within minutes. I'd go with crispy next time. The Al Pastor was great! Lots of flavor with a hint of pineapple sweetness. A bit pricey but I suppose that's to be expected in todays economic atmosphere. 2 taco lunch plates and 2 Margaritas plus 15% tip = $85 Not really something your average working-class person can afford very often.

Google
Hell yeah! Viva tres hermanos! Great salsa - sooooo fresh! The mahi tacos were perfect and the beer was cold and crisp. Love the spot.

Google
We came for my sister's birthday. None of us had been there before. I saw the place on tik Tok and decided to give it a try we had about a 20 minute wait. There was seating outside. The restaurant is super cute the waitresses were amazing they took our photo and always made sure our drinks were full. The food was super good I had the flautas 10 to 10 highly recommend my sister had the tamale she wasn't that big of a fan the rice and the beans were delicious chips and salsa were really good. All in all great place for lunch.

Pam B.

Google
Reservations definitely recommended. All our orders were quickly prepared. Large servings. Quick and fast service. Tasty food. Please note that all members of the party have to arrive together, otherwise, they may take out seats if some folks arrive late.

Google
This restaurant never disappoints me. There is almost always a wait, and there is a reason. Best Mexican sit-down restaurant in Sacramento! It does get crowded, including in the bar, but the staff is awesome here, along with the always smiling bartenders! The vibe is always high energy. I love everything on the menu! Including there pitchers of margaritas, perfect salsa and amazing guacamole.

Google
Alright… I don’t understand the hype around this one. Food was just okay. This place takes the prize for the smallest burrito I’ve ever seen in my life. It could comfortably nest in the palm of my hand… and I don’t have a large hand. Got the al pastor. Meat itself was pretty good but altogether just underwhelming and expensive for what you get.

Google
WOW! The reviews brought me here! And so glad it did. When the salsa is the perfect consistency. Perfect heat, perfect taste and the chips are fresh and warm, YOU MORE THE FOOD IS GREAT! And did not disappoint. Fresh delicious flavorful and automatic. YOU LOOKING FOR RESTAURANT STYLE AND QUALITY….. come here!!!! Tender steak. Delicious margaritas. Fluffy great rice. I’m amazed. Pleasant and nice customer service!!! Deserving of the biggest tip!

Google
Absolutely love this place!! I’ve been here about 5 times, and look forward anytime I come to Sacramento. Was on a solo trip for work this week and showed up around 8:15pm (close to the time they close which was 9pm) and was helped right away. My server was great, food came out quick and it was delicious. I got the Al Pastor plate, chose to get a salad instead of rice and beans with a lemonade and it was a 10 out of 10! Meat was juicy and not dry, lemonade was not overly sweet which I appreciate. If you are looking for consistently delicious food then definitely give this place a shot.

Yelp
I have come here a few times with my gf. The food is so rich in flavor in every bite. The customer service was great. Everyone is so kind. The price for food is not bad given the current state of the economy and cost of groceries. The taco salad with asada is 5 stars. Nice crispy shell filled with tender, juicy asada. Along with crispy Romain lettuce, flavor rich rice, beans, salsa, and fresh sour cream and guacamole. Their burrito de asada, cheese enchiladas, rice and beans are all great as well. Some great flavors. This has been my top Mexican spot when I am in the area.

Yelp
The setting is fantastic. The prices are $17-30 for a meal. The chips and salsa are amazing. They give two servings free. I ordered pancakes because it was morning time. Do not order the pancakes. They were heavy and a bit spongy. The butter and syrup were in small packets and cold. The authentic Mexican food is the way to go here. The Napolitas was pretty good. Nothing was great but the ambience.

Yelp
Wow such a cool little neighborhood eatery! I was bummed we were working as it precluded the exciting stuff at the bar. The staff was friendly and on point. Sadly we were somewhat limited having to eat this int he back of a moving rig so burrito it was. The large burrito was perfect. The chicken was nicely chunked and well seasoned, all of the ingredients were fresh and in perfect portion to each other. Tightly wrapped it maintained structural integrity to the last bite which was essential in a moving vehicle. The beans were well cooked and seasoned (not the usual Spackle other places serve) The chips were hot, perfectly fried and just the right amount of salt, and the salsa was perfect. Super fun vibe inside and we were sad we did not have the time to sit down.

Yelp
Wow. This place took me back home - to Philly. It's unassuming from the outside, but as soon as I walked in to the bar area I was taken back to the grittiness of Philly. This place is grimy in a good way - like a south Philly Mexican joint. No frills. The spicy margarita - hands down the best I've ever had. It had a strong kick both on the spice level and the tequila flavor. Chicken quesadilla and steak fajita - pretty standard. Solid. Chips and salsa - best salsa I've had. It was spicy and I kept going for more. I even asked for more and they brought out more chips and salsa. I would definitely recommend this place. 10/10.

Yelp
We placed an order to go. We had our usual chicken enchiladas, and hard shell chicken tacos. We also ordered a 16 oz (extra) salsa because we like it so much. Everything was as good as ever. The wait was long but they were really busy.
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Came here for Brunch on a Sunday. While was decently busy still got seated right away outside. Server was really nice, she got us ordered, fed and out just like we liked. Food was delicious, love their salsa. My only complaint which isnt really a complaint is that it's funny going to a Mexican restaurant and not get any Spanish music. While fine, just throws off the vibe a bit. Other than that, enjoyed this place and would come back if in area

Yelp
I usually dont say this but WOW!.. I was impressed, loved the exterior of the building, and the inside wont disappoint you. The Decor is very cool and full of life, and color. The food was AMAZING, I ordered a SUPER chicken Burrito, it came with rice and beans. The meat was so tender, and marinated in a sauce, was sooo good.. I also ordered a Margarita Tropical, peach... Was Very good, just wish the glass was bigger.. lol. My wife had a Quesada , came with rice beans and guacamole. Looked amazing as well.. I am sure everything is good here, all the food we saw looked so good, was hard to order in one hand.. ;-) Service was great, we sat after waiting just a few mins, place was pretty busy. Waiter was great, took our drink order pretty fast, then came back for our food order. All I can say is this place is a MUST GO AND EAT! If you like Mexican food, with alot of flavor, then look no more, or at least try it out, you wont be disappointed.

Yelp
Tres Hermanas has such a great vibe! The staff is super friendly and really hustles, even when the place is packed. Our food was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge--definitely great value. We also tried a few of their alcoholic drinks, and they were amazing. Overall, it's the perfect spot to catch up with friends over great food and drinks. Highly recommend! Side note: the salsa is delicious but definitely has a nice kick to it!
google avatar

Rochelle S.

Yelp
Tres Hermanas is a Sac staple and we go here probably too often! Service is always consistent- like home. Love the decor, it's like your home away from home. It's cozy, mood lighting inside and love their feels. Drinks and food are great price, serving is good for 2. I always bring something home to go because It's sooo good but a lot. Sangria and margs are always a good option for draaaaanks! On busy days, come in and expect to wait. It is worth it.

Yelp
8/1/25 I know I'm behind on this but here it is , Review Time Since in town for a convention and friends visiting from indonesia that wanted good Mexican food we needed a good spot to eat out and yelp didn't disappoint on this gem. Cool little spot in midtown sac. It was a Friday night and we had a party of 8. We were greeted immediately and was told about a 45min wait, we were willing to wait. So we went to the bar and got some drinks to start. Jared the Bartender was awesome and really took care of us. We were able to find a few seats in the bar area and a couple of us stood no biggie. Vibe was great and place was definitely popping for a Friday night . Soon enough we were seated outside which was really nice and it was nice out . Shane was our server for the evening and he was great. Really took care of us. We ordered some chips and fresh guacamole to start was delish. As seen in pic pretty good size menu. For dinner me and wifey split The Al Pastor plate (see pic) Corn tortillas. We both enjoyed very much. Very good flavor and tender . According to everyone else they all really enjoyed their food. This was a great find. I will definitely go back when in Sac again . Good drinks good food good vibes. I recommend . Enjoy !!!!

Yelp
If you are seeking a good Mexican restaurant in Midtown, this is the place! Old house that has been converted, with a nice outdoor patio on the street, and cool interior with a bar. Parking is on the street, which isn't really an issue. Our server was great throughout the evening. They provide the customary chips and salsa (the salsa was good and spicy!). A margarita will run you $12-$15 as of this posting. Food: We started with house salads, which is basically lettuce with some dices tomatoes and a cilantro dressing. Ok, but could be elevated a bit more. The beef chimichanga was pretty big, and came with red sauce, a good heaping of guac, and sour cream. The meat was seasoned nicely and was quite tasty. It is served with rice and beans. I had the chicken enchilada, and chili relleno plate with rice and beans. The enchilada was good, but the poblano in the relleno was really tough and required a knife to cut through it. That's unfortunate because the overall flavor of the relleno was great. We will absolutely come back here for more meals as the overall vibe, the service and the food was all good.

Calii C.

Yelp
I would not call this Mexican food. It lacked flavor and seasoning. The plating was sloppy and unappealing. The service was slow and damn near non existent even though the restaurant was not busy. My taco didn't even come with salsa or pico de gallo. And after I paid $20 for just one taco and rice and beans that were very lack luster. I will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone.

Yelp
Surprisingly I have never been to this Sacramento classic until now! My friend chose it for dinner so I was excited to check it out finally. We arrived at 6:00 on a Tuesday and we were seated within a few minutes! So nice to see a fully packed restaurant on a weekday. I would have loved to sit out on the front patio but they only had a few tables and none were available. The menu has a pretty good variety without being too overwhelming. I decided on a chimichanga with shredded chicken. I think food came out in about 10-15 minutes! It was so delicious, especially the side of refried beans which were cooked nicely and not too oily. My meal still tasted delicious when I had the other half for leftovers. Love that they have complimentary chips and salsa! And of course had to get horchata to wash it all down. Service was nothing spectacular and we had to flag someone down to finally get the check but again it did seem like a busy night. Definitely a solid choice for Mexican food in downtown Sac!

Yelp
Corina and I hadn't been out for lunch for months so to make it special we came to one of our favorite restaurants, Tres Hermanas. This is the location of my very first Yelp review many years ago. We arrived early at 11:00 as on weekend lunch is packed with people. I had the albondigas soup and it was as great as ever with a small salad. The avocado dressing is wonderful. We got an order of bean dip to share and Corina ordered the chiles relleno plate. She loved it! We both had ice cold Medelos. Our food was perfect as was the service and they both always have been. On the down side our tab with a tip was over $60 for lunch. Times are what they are.

Yelp
My coworkers who are from NorCal( and currently live in San Diego) said that they will drive 45 minutes out of their way to dine at Tres Hermanas. San Diego has some of the best Mexican food so this really caught my attention. Tres Hermanas lives up to the hype! You walk in and you feel like you're in an authentic Mexican restaurant. That you are supporting a local business. The chips & salsa were great which is a good precursor to whether your meal will be satisfactory. The crispy tacos are out of this WORLD! Service was prompt and polite. A must go if you live in Sacramento or are visiting.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place - the taco salad with chicken and steak was the best option. Everything was so so fresh, the pinto beans were my favorite addition! It was big enough to share for two people and the crunch taco shell was delicious at the end. Best drink hands down was the hibiscus aqua Fresca. It was my first time trying it and I'll definitely be back for it

Yelp
We're in from Texas and this is a perfect choice for some good tex-mex. The service was fast, too shelf margarita was very good and the food was delicious!

Sonia P.

Yelp
The food is good but the service we had was terrible. The waitress, who is the supervisor for that location, was very rude. First of all she forgot about my drink and we asked for the check, she brought it promptly. We went to the cashier to pay for lunch and we were informed that we had to make the payment to the waitress not to the cashier. We could not find the waitress. After a few minutes she showed up saying that she was around. Her voice sounded like she was mad at us. She kept talking rudely, got the payment and walked away talking loudly something that we couldn't figure it out. I have never had such a bad service. We left the restaurant without knowing the reason for her rudeness. Thanks

Amanjot K.

Yelp
The wait was about 20-30 minutes on the weekend. The food was good - it was lacking a bit of flavor but I come from SoCal so I think overall I do get more authentic Mexican food. It was packed on the weekend and people were seated indoor and outdoors.

teresa l.

Yelp
I did not like my experience the food was not appetizing. Although the restaurant was empty that service was slow and unprofessional. The servers are rude and didn't even give me a chance to order a drink. Idk what kind of Mexican food they think they are serving but they can do better. After charging me $20 before taces for just one taco with rice and beans wtf really one taco is crazy. The plating was sloppy. And my taco didn't even come with salsa or Pico de gallo. And to top it off they took my plate away without even asking if I was done which I was not.
google avatar

Naseem Z.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacramento. I always recommend it if someone asks me. I've never had a bad meal here. Service is always fun and just an overall good vibe. Their nachos are my favorite. They are my go to pickup or DoorDash if I'd had too much fun the night before. I've also had their carnitas plate and carne asada plate. The Diablo sauce is delicious. Everything looks good and the servings last me at least 2 meals. Plates are served with rice and beans and chips and salsa for the table.
google avatar

Christine T.

Yelp
This was one of my "go to" places for years until my recent trip a couple months back. While the menu hasn't changed much the prices and quality have- and not for the best. Someone once told me that you can tell by the beans what the quality of the rest of the food will be because beans are a staple. And unfortunately it was true for this. The beans lacked flavor, the food was ok - nothing outstanding and definitely not HOT (temperature). For the price and what we got for the dollar, I'm disappointed to say it hasn't kept up its delicious reputation through the years. However, service was standard and we got seated quickly. So I would say it's an average restaurant that's a good location if you need somewhere to go for a casual dining experience.
google avatar

Dana A.

Yelp
Tres Hermanas you are still my favorite after 28 years. We stopped in with the family for dinner and left happy and stuffed! The crispy tacos are my go to but decided to splurge on nachos! This is truly the best! Plan on a wait but wow is it worth it!

Yelp
This restaurant refused to let me in with my service dog unless he was crated, which is illegal. Service dogs must have complete access to their owners at all times in order to perform delegated tasks for the person with a disability. I have filed a report with the Department of Justice. I was treated terribly by the hostess, a teenager who complained that she makes minimum wage and didn't want to deal with this. Here is my report to the department of justice: At 2:35pm, I walked up to Tres Hermanas Restaurant with my 6lb service dog. I was stopped at the door and told that I wasn't allowed to come inside. There was a sign on the door that said service animals are welcome. I pointed to it and informed them that service dogs are protected under Federal Law and may accompany owners anywhere their handler goes. I was told to wait outside while they "checked" with the manager. The manager said I could come inside but my service dog "must be put into a crate and stay in there". I told them that they were not legally allowed to require this of me. They wanted to fight with me and ban me from coming into the restaurant, and so I left, informing them that I would be filing a complaint against their restaurant with the Department of Justice.

Yelp
I went again today for a friends birthday lunch. One taco $8 one margarita $12 all ice. To the waitress outside you could be a little nicer
google avatar

Yelp
Tres Hermanas is located in the heart of midtown and it is without a doubt the most authentic Mexican food you'll get in the area. It's casual yet still nice enough to impress the most folks on their first visit. The bar area is beautiful and is great for meeting up with friends or dates. Chips and salsa here are complimentary and the waiters are always nearby for refills when they get low. I love their albóndigas soup. It's always a great starter before a meal. The meatballs in it are hearty and full of great flavor. The zucchini's and carrots are so good! I could eat this whether it's 60 degrees or 98 degrees outside. They're not shy with the portions here. They charge a premium for food but you get what you pay for! Quality authentic Mexican dishes and plenty of it. Food service was fast, this was a late Sunday afternoon and we were in and out of the place within the hour.
google avatar

KC C.

Yelp
We stopped by Tres Hermanas for lunch and it was ok. I wasn't too hungry and shared the chile Colorado burrito and it was tasty. Very rich and saucy. It wasn't spicy and lacked flavor but the portions are very generous. Chips are complimentary and the salsa is always good and delicious. It was on the louder side since it was during the lunch rush hour. Which we had to sit outside or wait longer. The outside heaters kind of helped. I'll have to go earlier or later but not during the lunch hour.

Yelp
An establishment of 30 years still consistent to this day. From the service to the salsa to the meal everything is consistent. My favorite dish is the chicken mole poblano & I must have a side of dos res crispy tacos! The flavors are mouthwatering. We spent our 2025 Valentine's Day dinner here. You cannot go wrong with an array of choices. From the carnitas to the verde to the chile relleno to chile Colorado.

Nicole S.

Yelp
The BEST Mexican food in Sacramento. Nowhere else can compare to Tres Hermanas. The service is always great and the food is even better. It's always worth the wait here! If I could give them 10 stars I would.
google avatar

Brianne P.

Yelp
Been wanting to check out Tres Hermanas for awhile and I wasn't disappointed! Loved the chips and salsa. The red enchiladas were great and the shredded beef was flavorful. Our food came out fast and was piping hot. The servers were all very attentive, too. I understand why this place is always packed when I drive by. I am excited to go back and try other things on the menu!

Kevin H.

Yelp
Recently went for lunch - this place is just adorable right in a residential neighborhood and the place was packed for weekday lunch. You can just tell there's a lot of regulars that come, service was great, food delish. Luv their green sauce on my chicken enchiladas and a nice homemade crispy taco. I don't like restaurant that use those nasty premade taco shells. Salsa perfect w/ yummy crispy chips can't wait to come again.

Yelp
My spot. Wont go anywhere else in Midtown. This chill vibe, with authentic cuisine has me in a trans whenever im close. U must go there and have enchiladas LOLOL

Yelp
We sat at the bar because it was busy but the food was super good. Came it pretty quick. The bartender Brian was amazing and very accommodating. 10/10 experience for my first time at this restaurant!

Yelp
Great Spot for Tacos and Enchiladas, But Breakfast Was Just Okay My friends and I decided to have brunch at Tres Hermanas after a morning at the Midtown Farmers Market. This was my first time having breakfast here, as Tres Hermanas is usually my go-to for their delicious tacos and enchiladas. I ordered a tamale with cheese and sunny-side-up eggs, which came with the usual sides. Unfortunately, the tamale wasn't my favorite--it had a lot of masa and very little filling, and the flavor fell a bit flat with just the cheese. Next time, I'll stick with the pork or chicken options, which are usually more satisfying. That said, portions here are always generous, and the service is consistently efficient and friendly. We sat outside on the patio, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. While brunch wasn't the highlight for me, Tres Hermanas remains a solid choice for their classic Mexican dishes.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
Other restaurants come and go, but not Tres Hermanas. This place has some serious staying power. It's been around longer than those out of work relatives that moved into your basement. Well, they must be doing something right. I can't say I've had a problem with the food, service, or anything else during any of my visits. The staff is great and really hustles. The food is good and very filling. The drinks... well, let's just say I've had a few and they've never let me down. The location on K street is a little unusual because it's in an old house. But it works! The ambiance is great and there's even a nice patio out front. If there are any flaws, I can't find them. Keep on truck'n Tres Hermanas you've got some skilled drivers behind the wheel.

Yelp
Best Mexican spot in Sac also the chips and salsa r perfect. I come here pretty regularly found this place from the yelp reviews.

Yelp
Typically on the weekend there is a long wait, but the wait time is accurate. The food is really good but it is on the pricey side which is why it is hard to give it a 5. It's a cute restaurant in the heart of midtown, I recommend but I also think there are equally as good places at a better price point.

Yelp
Another very popular Midtown Sacramento neighborhood gem serving northern Mexican / "Tex-Mex" food Food: Chilaquiles - 5/5 - delicious; surprisingly not spicy as how it looks Tamales - 5/5 - another delicious breakfast dish Coctel de camaron - 5/5 - very delicious Quesadilla, Al pastor - 4/5 - pretty good Chicken mole - 3/5 - not as sweet as I expected for it to be, and too thin of slices and pieces of chicken Pork Chile verde - 5/5 - another delicious dish; spicy, sour and savory; it's one of my favorites Carnitas plate - 5/5 - generous savory Mexican style pulled pork; it's one of my favorites Al pastor plate - 5/5 - another delicious flavorful satisfying dish Chile relleno - 5/5 Ambience: Traditional Mexican cultural decor; indoor and outdoor seating Service: Fast and friendly

Yelp
In short: - they don't take reservations - blended margarita were not very flavorful. - not a lot of bar seating - decor feels like you are in Mexico Came here with some friends to celebrate my coworkers birthday. Wait was about 30 min and they text you when your table is ready. While we waited for our table we stood around in the bar area since there was no room at the small bar countertop. Felt like we were kinda in the way but there weren't seats for 5 of us. This place was highly recommended from an old coworker but she was vegan so I should have known better. It was decent but nothing special imo. Chips and salsa were free and pretty good. I ordered an cheese enchilada and a steak taco combo and enchilada was cheesy with just a basic red sauce, I'd try one of the other sauces next time- lots of options. The rice and beans were yummy. The taco was a bit disappointing l, steak was a bit tough and not much in it. A friend got shredded beef enchiladas and those were good. My other friend got a chimichanga and she liked that. I tasted the guac on top and that was good! Anyway we had fun but idk that I'd come back with all the choices in the area! Bill was around $200 for the 5 of us so not the cheapest lol thanks to an good tipper in our group lol.

Yelp
Always great service, food and ambiance. We have never once had one bad experience! Seating can be limited.

Yelp
Always a solid experience. Friendly service. Combo plates are exactly what you'd expect. Good drinks.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever experienced such awful push back from a server before like I did from the server, Ana S. regarding an issue w/my food. She was extremely unprofessional in the way she handled it, and not only that, after we paid for our meal, she felt the need to re-visit what happened earlier w/my food (I was willing to let it slide), but not her. She decided that she would make it "a point" to let me know, again, that she thought I was in the "wrong", which I was not. That final interaction was the nail in the coffin. And yes, I did speak w/the manager on the way out the door. Lesson learned, she said she would've adjusted our bill if I had asked for her BEFORE we paid. Idk why she didn't offer to do a partial refund when we were standing there. THE ISSUE: I ordered the 2 crunchy taco plate, one beef + one carnitas. I cracked open the taco shells b/c I wanted to start w/the carnitas. Ana had said their carnitas were popular. They were both carnitas. Where was the beef? Hubby also agreed they looked the same and he couldn't tell them apart by taste either. I figured she'd offer to remake it for me, but not before she got in her 2 cents!! Ana pushed back! She looked at my food and w/ such a snarky tone told me that I was wrong, and insisted my order was correct. She pointed and said, that one is beef, that one is carnitas. She even had to take a few sec to think about it before she spoke. I let her know that I tasted both and they were both carnitas. At this point, I am still being polite and calm about it. But like, how are YOU going to argue w/ME that I'm wrong about what I JUST TASTED. I was so shocked! Like, are we really going back and forth about this???? I insisted that they were both carnitas, and I was willing to die on that hill, even rn. She eventually gave in and asked if I wanted a beef one made and I said yes. I looked at it, but still looked and tasted the same as the other 2 on my plate. I didn't want a repeat interaction so I didn't say anything to her. The table salsa was very good. We were pleasantly surprised it had some heat. I didn't finish my food so I got a to-go box. We weren't asked if we wanted to order dessert, and Ana just set the bill on the table. There's a Japanese word, "betsubara", which means our 2nd stomach just for sweets. Even if you're full, there's always room for dessert. I packed up my food and I then asked Ana if we could get a little salsa to-go, like those tiny to-go cups for sauce. She said with such an attitude, "would you like to buy it!? We have 8oz, (and named off the other sizes)...". It's not common for Mexican restaurants to do this, so this was a first for me. I could understand if I was asking for a tub and they're well w/in their rights to charge for it. But I just wanted a tiny sauce cup and didn't think it'd be a big deal. It was good salsa, so we got the 8oz container. I thought she would take our credit card and come back for a signature, but they used a hand-held device and ran the card at the table. I couldn't get over the salsa thing, so I asked her, "you guys really don't give a little bit of salsa to-go?". She said no, even the table salsa has 1 free refill, and if you want more, we charge. WOW, my husband and I have never seen that at any Mexican restaurant before (and Mexican food is my MOST reviewed cuisine on Yelp b/c it's hubby's favorite.) It didn't sit well with us to know they charge for extra salsa while dining-in. My husband is always a generous tipper when we go out, but Ana was awful, AND she was like a hawk, watching him while he paid. She wasn't even trying to hide it. He paid w/TIP, ONLY b/c the lowest tip option offered on the screen started at 15% and she was pressuring him by staring at him. She could've pretended to at least look away. B/c we were seated across from each other in a booth, I didn't know what he was seeing. If I had the device in MY hand, I would've asked her, "where is the 0% tip option?". After she was tipped, she looked at me and said in Spanish, "isn't it true that the taco WAS beef???" I was shocked. Like, you want to do this AGAIN??My husband and I both shook our heads nope, and I told her what I had said earlier, that they TASTED all the same. I was going to let the earlier stuff slide, but her final behavior was unacceptable and out of line. On our way out, I asked to speak w/the manager about this. She already knew about the food issue earlier b/c she said "Ana is one of our best servers". Umm, I NEVER mentioned Ana by name, so how did the manager know she was OUR server? it's b/c they talked so the mngr. wouldn't be in the dark if I complained. Understandable, but again, I was going to let it slide and not mention it. I shared Ana's final comment to us which was petty. Apparently Ana need to have the last word to feel better about herself. I hope the manager did speak w/her like she said she would.

Yelp
I love Tres Hermanas I find it amusing that someone with an alleged "6 lb. Service dog" is complaining. I have wealthier friends who obtained "service dog certificates" so they can take their dog anywhere and brag, "This is a certified service dog and I can bring him ANYWHERE!" As time has passed, I have noted more personal pets being used as "service dogs" Sadly, my vision-impaired friend shared "it's a thing now and getting worse each passing year."

Yelp
The food is always on point that's why the 3 stars. But....... I have had a very disappointed experience with the margaritas. That's why I had to minus two stars. They must have a new bartender because we have been coming here for years and the margaritas are exactly what you pay for. They are usually made where you can taste the tequila and light mix. That's the way it should be made. But not when we visited. The margaritas were pretty weak and too sweet.. gave us a stomach ache. For as much as they cost I would appreciate some tequila in my margarita. Please bring back the old bartender. The food plus a well made margarita makes for a very pleasant and amazing dining experience.

Yelp
Salsa and spice, and everything nice. What a great meal! We were craving Mexican, and tried to make a reservation since it was a Saturday night, but they don't take them. We found parking across the street. We got there around 7:30pm, and were seated within 20 minutes on the side paio, which is completely enclosed. Attire is casual, good for a date, or for families. We got straight to business and ordered a Negra Modelo on tap, and a top shelf original margarita. Chips and salsa arrived, followed by our drinks. The chips were not homemade, but warm, and the salsa was on point. The beer was cold, and the margarita was good. We ordered the carnitas plate and a combo with a chicken enchilada, and crispy chicken taco. The carnitas are a good portion, tasty and crisp, and came with refried beans, rice, tortillas, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The chicken enchilada and crispy chicken taco combo, comes with beans and rice, with your choice of sauce for the enchilada, I went with green and it was perfectly spicy. Yes, their green sauce has spice. So man Mexican restaurants shy away from spice as to cater to clientele who can't handle it, but not Tres Hermana's. And that is what will keep us coming back. I always say that the mark of a good Mexican restaurant is good refried beans and rice. The refried beans have to be the type that makes you want to dunk your tortilla chips into, and that's exactly what I did. The refried beans were good, with melted white cheese on top, and the rice was good too! A word from the wise, when a a sit down Mexican restaurant, don't get a burrito. Burritos are best done at taquerias. Good Mexican is few and far between in Sacramento, and Tres Hernamas is well worth a visit. The service was good too. We will definitely be coming back. We want to try the chile verde.

Yelp
2nd time is a charm as we stopped by "Tres Hermanas" one other time but the wait was longer than watching Paint dry!!! Today, We waited about 15 min for a table of two First impression of the inside decor was very authentic of being in Mexico The menu had a lot of delicious offerings but we tried a Combo of beef/Chicken Fajitas & Beef Taco/Cheese enchilada: they were both delicious Service was decent, no complaints Note: Parking is challenging on the streets! We will come back to try their other dishes for sure. "Bon appetit"

Yelp
OK, first a quick history. I've been going there since the back room was expanded before the bar was put in before the patio was used. When just the front of the restaurant was the restaurant and even when one of the brothers worked there who opened up a tres hermana's in Davis ca It's still probably one of the best Mexican restaurants in Sacramento, but something has changed in the food. It doesn't have that same bite to it that it used to that spice. Don't get me wrong. The food is good. The service is always been good. Sure gets a little busy And yes, it is a very popular restaurant, but I've noticed the last five or six times I've been in there within the last two years. Something has changed. I don't know if it's a different prep they're using in the back or a different chef back there again like I say the food is good, but I can tell that it doesn't taste the same it used to.
