Exciting Restaurants to Try in San Jose 2025 | Eater

"Snuggled into a strip mall where Evergreen’s luxe housing developments meet Henry W. Coe State Park and Mount Hamilton, this petite restaurant offers a wide variety of contemporary Japanese dishes. Plates of Cajun rub shiro maguro tataki, scallop carpaccio, and toro toast are almost too pretty to eat. The dish of six oysters, two each topped with sweet shiso, wasabi salsa, and yuzu chili garlic is a particular favorite. Pair it with a fun drink, like the espresso sake cocktail topped with sesame brittle. It’s equal parts earthy and sweet with a hint of umami." - Christina Marie Mueller

Trifecta is an amazing restaurant. Everything we tried was so fresh and flavorful with an amazing presentation. The customer service was warm and friendly nurtured by a family owned business which made you feel welcomed as soon as you set foot in the door. We were able to interact with two fabulous chefs who put a lot of thought and care to each dish they prepared which presented itself with every bite. I cannot wait to be a returning customer to be able to experience many of the other dishes that caught my eye.

Google
Trifecta review We’ve had the pleasure of experiencing Trifecta’s pop-up omakase events during their early years. So we were excited to finally try their first restaurant hoping that the quality would live up to the standard of their pop-ups. Happy to say that it delivered. We were super pleased with all the dishes we ordered. And we had just got back from Japan! This place is definitely a level above what your typical neighborhood sushi restaurant is at. The ocean trout is always a must. And the sake bottles were priced very reasonably for a restaurant. Bar seats are always fun if you want to be closer to the action. Family owner, original menu, nice service, easily recommended by us.

OMG ... what an amazing meal ... We tried the Sesame Expresso Sake. Highly recommend I'd you like coffee !!! Wow and the sesame cookie is to die for. They make them in-house. 100% great experience!!!

Had an amazing dinner with my wife and our relative who’s visiting from out of town. The food was super delicious. The Scallop carpaccio, sashimi platter, butter fish, body roll. All the fish was super fresh and the presentation was so thought out it was almost too pretty to eat. The staff was very attentive and was friendly as well as funny. Almost like talking to a friend you haven’t seen for a while. Our overall experience was a solid one and I’m looking forward to coming back to try more of what’s on their menu.

Great experience at trifecta: 4 of us got the omakase menu and were amazed at the quality and variety of the food. friendly service and fun atmosphere. there was a dj playing but it was still possible to have a normal conversation. wine list is extremely small so if you’re not into sake consider bringing your bottle. very reasonable $25 corkage.

The food was amazing here and they executed perfectly. The setup is a great vibe and relaxing. When we went on Thursday night they had a DJ. Prices are really fair. And staff is really friendly.

💖 Valentine Omakase 💖 I wanted to thank the restaurant for such a sweet valentine experience yesterday. The price to taste ratio was very fair, in my opinion. It’s not easy to find a tasting menu where everything is such high quality and flavor. In the past I think I have paid more for less, so I am appreciative and respect it. I could feel the genuine heart and soul they have put into the menu - and hope to come back for future dining journeys. Thank you! 💖 PS: my favorites were 1st (the gems), 2nd (the middle fish - so clean and meaty tasting), 4th (the pudding thing and sausage thing was fire - this was something I’ve never tried), 5th (literally liked every nigiri, no wasted time. Good use of shiso)

Such a great experience! We arrived without a reservation and they were very kind and made things work to make sure we could dine in. The food was AMAZING and worth every penny!

Yelp
Fancy but casual. Balanced but modern. Japanese but not. Just amazing. Been wanting to try Trifecta for quite some time now. And so glad we finally went. From the experience, to the quality, to the presentation - there was nothing to dislike. Hubs and I had the chance to try it. We sat at the sushi bar where we got to chat it up with the other patrons as well as the sushi chefs/owners. If you're able to sit at the bar, I highly recommend it. Everyone is so super friendly. We loved every bit of our time there.

Yelp
We came her for one of my girlfriend's bday who has been to their original location before in Sunnyvale, and loved it. We have done many outings to celebrate each other's birthdays before, but this was easily one of the best dining experiences and most fun we've had in a long time. This place is a "Trifecta"--amazing food, exceptional service, and a vibe that strikes the perfect balance between chill and chic. We came here on a Wednesday night at 5pm and were pleasantly surprised to see they have happy hour, and we ordered a mix from the happy hour and regular menus: -Rock shrimp tempura- tossed in gochuchang was crispy and addictive. -Hamachi crudo- fresh, bright and clean flavors -Chu toro with chili garlic - melts in your mouth with a mild kick -Body roll - you must do a body roll when ordering jk- seared scallops on top and spicy tuna inside the roll- yum! -Katsu miso kare kare - rich, comforting, full of depth and the beef was cooked perfectly and this dish complements well with a side of rice. -Beef yakisoba - classic done right -Smoked hamachi kama - tender, smoky, fall-off-the-bone delicious- -Tater tots - even these were so good! Every dish was stunningly presented, and the flavor combinations were spot on fresh, thoughtful, and well-executed. To drink, we had the Sesame Espresso Sake, which came with a black sesame brittle, which was so good we ordered more just for that. Special shoutout to Mike, (bust out the moves and karaoke, and Ivann, too!) who took incredible care of us. He was warm, fun and funny, super knowledgeable about the menu, and made the whole night special. We also had the chance to meet one of the sushi chefs/owner, Bradley, who was so kind, welcoming, and incredibly modest. You could feel the pride and heart they've put into the place, and it shows when he talks about their family restaurant. We have not stopped talking about the food and fun we had together. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Pros: Service was good. Food was decent--but only when ordering from the regular menu. Cons: We went with the omakase, which the waiter introduced as the "chef's choices" with 7 courses. Here's what we got: oysters, albacore, udon with "uni sauce" (though we didn't see or taste any uni), 4 pieces of negori, scallop with steamed eggs, miso soup (just the basic kind that included in every sushi's restaurant), and dessert. First off, why is miso soup considered a chef's choice? And not just any miso soup--this was the most basic version, with two small pieces of tofu. Why would that be part of a $120, 7-course meal? The food was definitely not omakase style--very misleading. Omakase is supposed to highlight fresh, premium selections like high-quality nigiri, fresh uni, or sweet shrimp--we got none of that. Most of the food was on the salty side. The only dish we actually enjoyed was the oysters. Everything else felt basic and underwhelming. Honestly, we might've been better off just sticking to the regular menu.

Yelp
Great add on sushi restaurant in the area. The price is reasonable and the service was good They have happy hours as well. The store was clean and not so many tables. My favorite dish was smoked hamachi kama. The otoro was okay since I think the flavor wasn't there Oyster was fresh

Yelp
Been here a few times, especially during their Happy hours (Tues-Thurs 5-7pm). Basically ordered almost one of everything off their HH menu, but these were our favorites: -yellowtail crudo -chu toro chili garlic -chicken karaage Also got their oysters, which are $3/pc and there's different flavors on each of the oysters. Also got their Faithful roll, which had shrimp tempura, snow crab, and hamachi in it! We sat at the bar and it was great interacting with the chef and watching them make the food. The place is usually packed during dinner time on a weekday. On Thursdays, they have a dj spinning hip hop. Overall, we had a great experience. The price point is a bit high, but the quality is fresh. They offer omakase, which is next on our list to try.

Yelp
Came in on a Thursday early evening for happy hour. The restaurant was about half full so probably don't need a reservation. Tried the ume-shiso highball and it was light and refreshing. Reminded me of high balls in Japan because they don't taste like alcohol. Our favorite appetizers were the chicken karaage and the chu toro maguro chili garlic. The chicken karaage was light and crispy and had a slight flavor of furikake. The toro tasted fresh and had a wonderful balance of spice and citrus. I like the crisp from the cucumbers and shredded carrot. The bao buns could use a little more sauce or flavor. The buns were nice and fluffy but the pork was a little hard to chew. The smoked hamachi kama was a little too burnt for my taste. Some of the fish meat had a weird texture to it. The trifecta roll was delicious. Spicy tuna was perfectly seasoned and paired well with the creaminess of the avocado and crunchiness of the shrimp tempura. Servers were polite, but did not really check up on us Had to flag the server down even though we had been sitting with empty plates for awhile to get the check. Would definitely come back for happy hour as it is more affordable, but wouldn't mind trying other entrees on the menu.

Yelp
Elevated sushi place with creative and unique dishes. Super friendly staff and has a happy hour here. The chicken Karaage had a light crisp and was juicy but the honey truffle aioli was amazing with it. The sashimi was good quality and the sauce pairs well. The faithful roll was one of my favorite rolls and it had a burst of different flavors. The Smoked Hamachi Tacos tasted similar to a ceviche and was smart of them to use fried dumpling wrappers as the shell. They also have creative cocktails that are tasty! Would come back again.

Yelp
Celebrated a birthday here and tried out their Omakase Tasting Menu! It was 7 courses for $119. 3 hot course, 3 cold course, and 1 dessert. It was a nice experience as we got to try many different dishes. My absolute favorite was the Miso Cod and Chawan Mushi, which was the steamed egg with longanisa bits on top with seared scallop. Very unique as it incorporated some Fillipino influence. Only bummer was that for omakase, I would prefer to be at the sushi bar so we can experience talking with the chefs and seeing our food be made. But when we arrived, the bar was full and our reservation was put on a table so not sure if the other bar seatings were also reservations or if they go by first come, first serve. Overall, I thought it was well worth it and service was amazing! I believe it was the owner who also came by to talk to every table thanking us for coming by and supporting. It was very sweet of her to check in and let us know they have their 1 year anniversary coming up and they are having a tuna cutting!

Yelp
My partner made a reservation here for my birthday. Even though she requested for the sushi bar, we were sat in the corner for some reason. This sushi place if Filipino-owned so you can see some influence in the dishes. We both got the omakase. It's a 7-course omakase for about $110. It doesn't sound like a lot but one of the courses includes four pieces of nigiri, which sounds confusing. Miyagi Oysters (5/5): The dish provides two oysters with 2 different sauces. The one with wasabi salsa had a bit too much sauces that overpowered the flavor of the oyster. However I really liked the ponzu sauce one as it enhances the flavor of the oyster. The 2 oysters were very plump and sweet. Seared Albacore (4/5): The carpaccio included seared tuna marinate in ponzu sauce and topped with fried onions. The sear didn't add much flavor, but it was great soaked in the ponzu sauce. Chawamushi (3/5): This egg custard dish was warm and topped with longanisa bits and a whole seared scallop. The egg was warm and comforting and the lonaganisa added crunch. The scallop was plump and tasty, but did not enhancement to the chawamushi Nigiri (5/5): This course includes four chefs choice nigiri and an egg cake. The nigiri were Shima aji, kimmedai, ocean trout belly, and toro. The fish were very fresh and the flavor additions were unique Miso Cod (5/5): this fish dish is surrounded by a pepper sauce and had a sautéed spinach side. The cod by itself was sweet and yummy. I thought it was better without the sauce . Miso soup (5/5): This was by far the fancies miso soup I've ever had. It had 3 pieces of clam and and 2 pieces of scallops Yuzu Float (5/5): probably the best omakase dessert ever. It was a yuzu sherbet floating in a yuzu soda. Super sweet, but very plentiful Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and the omakase. Even though it had a variety of dishes, I do wish it had more nigiri

Yelp
Finally tried brunch here and wow, we're glad we did! Our older sons had been raving about it for a while, but for some reason, we just never made it out. Since we're big fans of filipino food and saw that the brunch menu had a Filipino fusion twist, we had to give it a go. My wife ordered the omakase and was thrilled they were able to swap the cod for the uni carbonara which, by the way, is an absolute must-try. Our youngest had the unagi donburi. It was solid, but not quite a standout. I went all in on the longanisa smash burger. Definitely not the lightest choice, but the flavors were delicious. And those tater tots smothered in cheesy sauce? Unreal. We somehow missed the chicken and waffles on the menu based on the name, I'm guessing it's their take on Jollibee-style fried chicken, which we're definitely coming back to try. All in all, a fun, flavorful brunch with some creative Filipino flair. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I was in the San Jose area and was craving sushi for dinner. I've eaten at Trifecta once before (when it first opened) and had a pretty good experience the first time, so I thought it would be a good idea to drop by again for round two. Unfortunately my second visit was not nearly as good as my first one. The restaurant was only at 25% capacity when we came in around 7:30pm on a Friday. This was a stark contrast in comparison to the first time I came here - it was packed and there was a waitlist for walk ins! Now the restaurant just seems low energy and dead, but perhaps business slowed down after the grand opening hype. They do still keep the one stall bathroom clean though, which is nice. We ordered: - Spicy garlic edamame (4/5): This was solid but nothing special. There wasn't much spice to it though. - Otoro carpaccio (2/5): Fish was fresh but the flavors of the sauce were poorly executed. It was described as a yuzu flavor sauce but there was no yuzu flavor at all; instead, the smell and taste of nuoc mam (fish sauce) was incredibly strong and potent. This was a miss - none of the other flavors stood out because the nuoc mam overpowered the dish. I felt like it was a strange sauce base choice for tuna carpaccio as well... - Kaisendon (2.5/5): Again, the fish was fresh but this didn't really impress me at all. The minced/chopped tuna had multiple pieces of bone in it - I was surprised to find one bone let alone multiple bones. Overall, the flavor profile was a bit boring - it could have used some sort of light sauce to enhance the flavor of the fish. Overall, a very underwhelming dinner. I probably would just go to Rantei next time I'm in the south Bay and I am craving a quick sushi dinner.

Yelp
This was my first time at Trifecta, we made a reservation ahead of time and would recommend doing so as it gets fairly busy during dinner time. I had the body roll and would highly recommend, the scallops and tuna melts in your mouth. All the staff were very kind and accommodating, two of the owners went around and talked to each table too!

Yelp
I'm shook that I haven't left a review for this AMAZING RESTAURANT since I'm here at least once or twice a month since they opened. I've been following trifecta since 2017-2018ish when I saw their pop ups and such on instagram. I love that I don't have to drive hella far to get good quality sushi. Trifecta is a GEM in the evergreen San Jose area. It is literally a 7 minute drive from my house and I love that I can always find parking. We love coming here for date night, when family visits from out of town, and to hang out with our friends. We are always greeted with friendly smiles. The servers are nice and the kitchen staff are so talented! I think they do a great job of fusing Filipino flavors with Japanese dishes like their miso kare kare YUM. I'm literally drooling thinking about it. Their omakase is like hands down one of my favorites. The chefs are really sweet and you can tell these guys are passionate about what they do. I know there is so much more I can say, but I know these guys will be around for awhile. 11/10 highly recommend :) if I could give 6 stars I would.

Yelp
I kept seeing this place all over social media, so I decided to give it a couple of tries, hoping I would like it more. Unfortunately after the last time, I won't be coming back. The prices are on the higher side for what you get. The food and drinks were not good. I ordered the karaage chicken, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It didn't have that crispy, flavorful coating I was hoping for, and it just felt a bit off. As for the ume shiso highball, it was way too diluted. It's a shame because I really wanted to like it, but for the price, I expected more.
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
I had high expectations for this spot based on a friend's recommendation. Perhaps they were too high because this was just a middling meal. First the pros...nice decor, friendly young hardworking wait staff. The cons...the food was not that great. The toro toast was very fishy and so were the other seafood items we ordered. Also, the order in which the food came out was messed up. Drinks came two courses in and salad never came out and we asked to cancel it.

Yelp
this is a must visit!!! Our server david and one of the chefs, Ryan were so amazing and welcoming. The atmosphere is more on the intimate side, clean, and spacious. We ordered so much of the menu, and everything was a hit. Also noticed, that they had a fusion of filipino flavors in their food which made everything so much better. The Kare kare dish was amazing, packed with flavor and had tender beef. the rice in their sushi was very savory and fish melted perfectly. Overall the experience was one of a kind and the food even better! will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their menu.

Yelp
This one has been bookmarked for awhile, and we finally came for their anniversary during dinner service. We had the omakase which was a great introduction to Trifecta. The sushi was fresh and we enjoyed each bite. Perhaps the most interesting course was an ahi katsu kare kare. It was a twist on Japanese and Filipino influence. The dried mushrooms gave it a good umami. The broader menu looks to have plenty of other mouthwatering options - more reason to come back and visit again. I just wish it wasn't so far from us, otherwise we would frequent more often.

Yelp
OMG. What was I thinking??? The first time I came here we ordered a bunch of fried items and edamame. But on my second visit, I was blown away!! I realized we didn't try much sushi the first time, and that's where this place truly shines. We came here for dinner last night because my partner's daughter was craving Japanese Curry Katsu. So we just let her stuff her face with it while the two of us sampled a variety of delicious sushi. And wow! Here's what we had: **Nigiri** Bluefin Tuna - deliciously fatty and buttery. Scallop (I forgot what they called it on the menu.) Yellow Fin Tuna Ocean Trout Yellowfin Carpaccio (I'm not sure that's what it's called.) **Faithful Sushi** - My favorite sushi of ALL time. **Short Rib Bao** - the short rib was fun with the steamed bun. I was relieved when most of the seats in the dining area were taken. Sitting at the bar and watching those genius chefs create dishes was such a magical experience. The fresh fish was extraordinary! I am now a big fan of this place. I'm so glad it's in my hood.

Yelp
Color me impressed, I came into Trifecta with some skepticism but after trying the food I am a true believer. When we arrived, even though we had a reservation there wasn't a table ready for us and we had to mill around awkwardly in the entryway for about 5 minutes before finally being shown to a hastily-prepared table. After looking over the menu, I was concerned because it came across as a bit more fusion-y than I was expecting, leaving me questioning whether the flavor-blending gimmicks would take precedent over delivering the high-quality Japanese food I was hoping for. Do you know that feeling when you are ready and almost hoping for the food to disappoint just to confirm your preconceived notions? Well I was basically there, and thankfully for me... I was completely wrong. Once the food arrived, it blew me away and perfectly explained all the stellar reviews that Trifecta has received. To start, the Body Roll was probably the single best sushi roll I've ever had, and I've had my fair share. Having the scallops on top of the roll was a revelation, and the yuzu kosho chimichurri provided the prefect topping in just the right quantity. Days later my wife and I were still talking about how good that roll was. The Miso Kare-Kare was another excellent dish, incredibly rich with a wonderful depth of flavor along with perfectly-crisp pork belly. One thing to note though is that it doesn't come with rice which it desperately needs, so I would recommend ordering a side of white rice to accompany it as we did. The Smoked Hamachi Kama and Chu Toro were also great, though my only quibble is that I wish the Chu Toro were a little less sweet to allow for the flavor of the high-quality tuna to come through more. All in all, our trip to Trifecta was an excellent one and I'll be dreaming about that Body Roll until I get the chance to come back and order one (or maybe two) again.

Yelp
Food was amazing! 10/10 for each dish - see pix. Ramon, our server, was funny and welcoming. The decor was so cute! We even got to meet Tita Maggie, the owner/ mother of the chefs, whom are brothers. She was hospitable as Filipino people usually are I'd like to go back to eat there for brunch. Thanks for a great experience!

Yelp
We have now eaten at Trifecta 3 times and have not had a single thing we didn't like. It's definitely become one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere inside is bright and clean with a modern garden aesthetic. This is not a basic sushi place, it's elevated Japanese with a Filipino influence. The menu is relatively small but everything is so fresh and flavorful and each element well thought out and beautifully presented. I highly recommend the smoked hamachi appetizer. It is so good! Not something we would have normally ordered, but now it's absolutely a favorite. The rolls are all delicious. We love the Chu Toro Maguro Chili Garlic, the Yellowtail Crudo and the tempura, too. The only negative is that the ramen broth was way too salty and lacked much depth but all the other elements of it made up for that. The service is also excellent. Everyone is so friendly and it feels like they genuinely care about their customers.

Yelp
I've eaten here a number of times now and while I won't be touching the sushi in this review, what I will say is that I won't eat raw fish from anyone else. These guys have made me fall in love with sashimi. Prior to Trifecta, I always steered clear of it. Why? Simply because I didn't know how good it could be. Today though, I'll be talking about their newly debuted "Brunch" menu which I had the pleasure of eating a few weekends ago. Since we were in a large group, we decided to do it "Family- Style" so that we could get a sampling of everything on the menu. I'll be high-lighting my favorites here: **Mochi Pancake with Matcha Custard: Ube Condensed Milk, Matcha Custard, Seasonal berries, Powdered sugar-- This instantly brought me back to Kona, Hawaii when I tried my first Ube Pancake. The flavor of the Ube was distinct with the Mochi texture rounding it out, giving that chewy texture I adore. The Ube Condensed milk sauce was just the right amount of sweet. Because of this, there was no need for me to add syrup since it was sweet enough. Had we not been sharing, I could probably have eaten this dish myself. Would definitely order this again. **Longanisa Smash Burger: Beef pork mix, Brioche Bun, Cheddar Cheese, Tater Tots-- I'm going to be honest here and tell you that my Filipino self isn't a huge fan of Longanisa. Sticky Sweet Sausage doesn't really do it for me and I never order it at restaurants nor do I eat it at family parties. I was curious as ever to see if I would like this because it was presented as a hamburger. Imagine my surprise when I took a bite and liked it. The ground beef mixture was juicy and just a tad sweet from the Longanisa but I could ignore the sweetness as it was mixed in with the melted Cheddar Cheese and toasted Brioche Bun. This is exactly how you want your hamburger to taste-- Juicy, succulent and filling. Add in the perfectly crisp tater tots and this was a winner. **Chicken Karaage with Yuzu Honey Truffle: These mini pieces of chicken are dangerous for the sole reason that you just can't have one. You know it's good when you don't realize that you keep coming back for more after dipping it into the Yuzu Honey Truffle sauce. **Fried Chicken and Belgian Waffles: Soy marinated fried chicken thighs, Smoked maple syrup, Seasonal Berries. While I didn't get to try the fried chicken thighs (the table devoured them), I did get to try the Belgian Waffle. I had to save this one for last because this was my most favorite item here. It was crisp and chewy with the same Mochi like texture as the pancake but in waffle form. Add in some melted butter and a slight dipping of the smoked maple syrup and this was fire. As for service, they handled our table with ease and attentiveness. Super friendly servers that made sure all of our waters were filled and all the food came out in a timely manner. We never had to flag anyone down as they were right there to make sure we were taken care of. If you haven't tried this place, come support a small business. I'm a fan.

Yelp
I came here for Mother's Day with my mom, grandma and uncle. We were greeted by the owner Ryan. Our server Michael was very nice and made sure our food was delivered fresh and on time! Very cozy and clean restaurant. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great ambiance. We happened to come in the day after their 1st anniversary and were excited to hear they had fresh tuna available. Naturally, we ordered every tuna item on the menu--and everything was delicious. We bought the chef his choice of sake to share as a thank you. The servers were friendly, though not super attentive, especially since it wasn't that busy. Most of them were hanging out in the back, so we had to flag someone down several times. One small note: the hot hojicha tea is really good, but it's served in a French press, so it just sits there and cools down over time. By the time you're ready for a refill, it's no longer hot--a small thing, but worth mentioning. I'm not from San Jose, but I'm glad I found this spot. I'll be back the next time I'm in town to give it another shot.

Yelp
Decided to eat here on a Saturday around 5pm for dinner service. If you plan on visiting anytime later than 5:30p, I would recommend snagging a reservation. Atmosphere is nice and hip. Food was definitely mixed... extremely unfortunate as it seems like many yelpers are raving about it! Our shareable platters were great: the wasabi miso caesar salad and smoked hamachi hama were delicious. The chicken karrage was also great but felt as thought the portion was skimped... 8pcs of chicken in total. On the other hand, I would recommend skipping on the pork bao buns - was extremely one dimensional, and could only really taste the banana ketchup. We also had the strawberry yuzu mint mocktail, was delicious but was giving $7 boba lol. We ordered the longanisa smash burger, to our surprise was DRENCHED in a cheese sauce? I was genuinely confused. Was extremely blind-sighted by this menu item, and maybe should have consulted yelp sooner... visually the platter was just way too much and the cheese sauce overcompensated for lack of flavor. 25 minutes after we received these items, we finally received our order of hamachi sashimi, and two sushi rolls: salmon delight and the trifecta. I was really hoping for these items to be stellar in contrast to the first few items, not to mention the long wait, but I was not impressed whatsoever. The hamachi sashimi was not properly scaled, thus had a bit of a fishy taste. Our two rolls looked great visually, but were extremely disappointing: the rice being mushy, the shrimp tempura in the trifecta roll was soggy, the shredded snow crab having a grey-ish color, and the salmon on our salmon delight looked as if it was microwave defrosted. Seriously, what an upset. Service was alright but fell short as soon as dinner picked up. Also, it seems as though the chefs were giving out complimentary dishes to tables near us, but who they give it to is pick and choose... not a great impression. Glad we were able to show some support knowing that the restaurant is Filipino owned, but will most likely be my only visit.

Yelp
I had the 7-course tasting menu and it did NOT disappoint. It was fantastic, and the staff did a great job explaining the menu. I sat at the sushi bar, and was solo. It was interactive and interesting, and I got to chat with the chefs and owners about their experience and upcoming events. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner with my wife and our relative who's visiting from out of town. The food was super delicious. The Scallop carpaccio, sashimi platter, butter fish, body roll. All the fish was super fresh and the presentation was so thought out it was almost too pretty to eat. The staff was very attentive and was friendly as well as funny. Almost like talking to a friend you haven't seen for a while. Our overall experience was a solid one and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of what's on their menu.

Yelp
I was so glad to see Trifecta Sushi open near my home it's conveniently located right next to the Silver Creek Community Market. I really want to support local, especially a neighbor's restaurant. Over the years, I've seen many restaurants in this area open and then close, which is always sad. I've been to Trifecta 3 times now, and I feel ready to share my experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the interior is clean and cozy. The food presentation is pretty and colorful, which makes a good first impression. However, I've noticed that the servers, while nice, often seem unsure and keep checking back with others when taking orders. It feels like there's a lack of teamwork, even though there are quite a few people working. As for the food, the sushi rice tastes a bit too heavily marinated for my preference, and the fish is just okay not super fresh. Lastly, menu's a little pricey overall. Will I go back? Probably, on and off but I wouldn't call myself a regular just yet.

Yelp
I came in excited to try their new brunch menu, and left completely blown away. If you're looking for a spot that fuses Filipino and Japanese flavors in the most delicious, creative way--Trifecta is it. Here's what I ordered: Longanisa Inari Pockets - These are dangerously addictive! Perfectly seasoned longanisa packed into delicate inari--just one bite and they're gone. I could've eaten a dozen. Aburi Chu Toro Chimichurri - I mean... sashimi and chimichurri? Say less. The buttery toro paired with the herby zing of chimichurri is a match made in heaven. Longanisa Smash Hambagu - This dish is saucy in all the right ways. Rich, savory, and so satisfying. A creative twist that still hits all the comfort food notes. Hamachi Tacos - Ok, this is a regular menu item but I couldn't resist. They're one-bite wonders, bursting with freshness and umami. Ube Pancakes - Fluffy, vibrant, and lightly sweet. They bring that beautiful pop of purple and even more flavor. A must-try for ube lovers. Chicken and Waffles - Classic with a twist! Crispy chicken with just the right amount of seasoning, paired with fluffy waffles that soak up every drop of syrupy goodness. Bonus points: PARKING IS A BREEZE. They're located inside a plaza so you don't have to deal with the usual weekend parking nightmare. Whether you're craving something sweet, savory, or in between, Trifecta's new brunch menu has something that'll make you go wow. Their staff is so friendly and the ambiance looks like a mix of coziness and DIY [referring to the ceiling decor]. Filipino-Japanese fusion brunch? SIGN ME UP. This is 1000% my new go-to brunch spot. Run, don't walk!

Yelp
This review is for their newly added weekend brunch. I was so excited to try Trifecta's brunch after seeing their menu posted on their Instagram. They are still making some tweaks so the menu differed slightly. We tried the following items: - Karaage chicken and mochi waffle: I wish the pieces of chicken were a little larger instead of small pieces. The chicken was a little dry, the mochi waffle was decent though I wish it had even more of a mochi texture in the batter like some other places. It would be a good idea if in the future they tried flavored waffles too (i.e. ube, matcha, thai tea) - Omurice (they didn't have the pork katsu and instead had a longanisa patty): it was similar to a loco moco, everything tasted pretty good, you couldn't really tell it was a longanisa patty but more like some bits in there that added some fat. - Bread trio which had pan de sal, bread pudding and bibingka: the pan de sal was drier than it typically is but the other two were good. I know that brunch is still new and they are working on it. I had a good experience and would come back in the future to try new items.

Yelp
The food was flavorful and phenomenal. Definitely give their happy menu a try, we ordered 1 of everything off the HH menu and it did not disappoint. Ask for the charamishu' Service was great! Very cute decor with sushi bar and tables!

Yelp
Absolutely Amazing! From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch: friendly, attentive staff who checked in just enough without hovering. The DJ set the perfect vibe with incredible music in the background. The omakase experience? OMG. Truly out of this world. Every dish was fresh, creative, and unforgettable. I can't say enough good things. Just try it! you'll understand why this place is so special. We'll definitely be coming back! That said, they should really fix their building signage. It's the first impression for potential customers, and this amazing spot deserves to shine from the outside in.

Yelp
I'm so excited to find such a nice Japanese restaurant in San Jose! This place offers a nice variety of food that includes omakase, small bites, noodles, and rolls. The restaurant is actually owned by a Filipino family so there are a few dishes that have a fusion twist to it which I thought was pretty cool. We ordered the toro toast, kaizen don, and faithful roll. I really liked the toro toast and kaizen don. The kaizen don comes with nori that you can use to make your own little handroll. Service was great; the waiters were super friendly and checked up on us often. The interior is also super cute and offers a nice intimate atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try the other items on the menu!

Yelp
We discovered Trifecta when they were doing omakase pop ups in Sunnyvale. Since then, we've followed their journey to opening their own storefront in San Jose. We try to go, at least, once a month and sit at the bar every chance we can. Ryan, Bradley, and Jason are super chill and friendly. I'm not typically a fan of Asian fusion, but this place gets the flavors right! Make sure to ask for chef's toppings on their nigiri. You won't regret it. It's hard when we already have our faves (scallop carpaccio and Trifecta oysters, to name a couple), but we can't wait to branch out and try other items on their menu!

Yelp
Trifecta is truly a hidden gem in the Evergreen area, with excellent service and fantastic food! We ordered the joyful chicken omurice and longanisa smash hamburger. Both entrees were absolutely delicious and tasted even better than the omurice we've had in Japan! I highly recommend this place for those looking for high quality, delicious food and great customer service!

Yelp
Amazing food with the best service! My partner and I come here for special occasions and it always makes the drive from union city worth it! Love the atmosphere and my partner loves their sushi and the music playlist!

Yelp
Thank you to Ryan and team for taking such good care of us! We had a girls dinner at Trifecta and enjoyed every minute of it! Such a great fusion of sushi and some Filipino familiarities. We made it in time for happy hour so we were able to try a variety of delicious small dishes. The restaurant is so spacious yet cozy, perfect for larger groups or an intimate setting. Favorite dishes were the sashimi set and sushi rolls! I would love to come back to try their brunch menu!!

Yelp
Trifecta is an amazing restaurant. Everything we tried was so fresh and flavorful with an amazing presentation. The customer service was warm and friendly nurtured by a family owned business which made you feel welcomed as soon as you set foot in the door. We were able to interact with two fabulous chefs who put a lot of thought and care to each dish they prepared which presented itself with every bite. I cannot wait to be a returning customer to be able to experience many of the other dishes that caught my eye.

Yelp
Tbh I thought it was just okay. I'd rate it a 3.5 out of 5. I was super excited to try this place out after seeing it on Insta. Unfortunately, imo it didn't really wow me. I knew it was going to be pricey but I didn't expect for me to still leave hungry. The fish quality is very fresh. I just think the portions were too small for the price. The kaisen don $60 was the highlight of my meal. There were scallops, salmon, crab, toro, and ikura over a bed of rice, side of seaweed nori. There was also a Ube mochi-like bread. I like how you could make your own hand rolls. So fun! The yellowtail crudo $23 - came with 6 pieces and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The smoked hamachi tacos $15 - came with 3 tiny tacos. I would pass on this item. The toro toast $12 - came with 2 tiny toast topped with toro on top. Yes, this was good. But was it worth it? Not sure. The yuzu strawberry mint calpico had too much ice and started to become watered down. The black sesame ice cream was very yummy!! Our server, Anna, was very friendly and offered recommendations since it was our first time. She was very kind and checked up on us throughout the dining experience. The interior is very cute and bright. (Use the side door to enter). Lots of parking. Ambiance is very calming. That's my opinion but you are more than welcome to come and try for yourself!

Yelp
Firstly, I want to say you may need to make reservations before coming in. Luckily, my bf and his brother and I were seated immediately as a walk-in since we came early enough. Many tables had reserve signs aside from 2. Decor was pretty cute, from the bar to the general seating. The host could have been a bit more welcoming. 4/5 But our server Michael was great and had awesome upselling skills. 5/5 For the food, I had to be a bit of a stickler due to the pricing and compare. I'm not a sushi connoisseur whatsoever but just sharing my opinion. Starters: * Smoked Hamachi Tacos - The fishes inside the taco were great, however I didn't get any taste of the yuzu truffle vinaigrette, and I'm thinking it may have been due to the wraps being. A bit more salty than expected. With the components separate it's good. 3/5 * Edamame - Standard Edamame also a bit on the salty side, but loved the garlic. Personally for me, I do think that the edamame was overcooked. 4/5 * Unagi Roll - Loved how tender the unagi was, not much of a chew and it melted in my mouth. 4/5 * Spicy Tuna Roll - Typically my favorite roll, but it was very standard based on price. It could have used a bit more spicy tuna ratio vs the avocado and could have more of a crunch if they added more tempura crisps. 3/5 * Faithful Roll - Hands down best roll out of them all. The truffle definitely the star with enhancing all the fish flavors. 5/5 * Rainbow Remix Roll - LSS too much remixing going on. 3/5

Yelp
Such a cute new sushi spot in San Jose! Vibes are good, fish is fresh, and the staff are super friendly! Came for dinner with friends and since we had a larger party, we got to try a little bit of everything. Some dishes we got which were all so tasty: - rock shrimp - hamachi - toro - uni ouster shooters - sisig bibimbap - umi masu nigiri - saba nigiri Will me back to try their lunch menu this time!

Yelp
Trifecta's been on my list for a long time and I got to try it last night! Sashimi was definitely the star of the show. All of the fish were really great cuts, and most even melt in your mouth. Would really recommend and worth it. The sisig bibimbap was recommended to us and we gave it a try. This fusion dish was really great and the slightly burnt rice part was my favorite. As for the hamachi tacos, they were cute but a lil too tiny. The tuna roll we ordered was good too. Overall it's more 4.5 for me. The portions here are smaller than your typical sushi spots, just an fyi.

Yelp
My BF took me here for my bday, and I was really excited. I will say that the raw fish quality was really amazing, but other than that everything else was okay. The atmosphere felt kinda off. For a place that is relatively expensive, I was expecting a bit more. I also think that the servers were trying to give good service, but they overdid it. Our server was really pushy about trying to upsell us. He offered us alcohol twice in the beginning. When I ordered the secret menu item tuna mentaiko, he offered to make it more luxurious and add caviar to it. (Btw: this item was a tuna carpaccio dish and it was $45, which we didn't know about until we got the check). At the end of our meal, he had told us that our last dishes were out and asked us if we wanted anything else. After we said no, I was expecting the check but he circled back and tried to get us to have dessert. Someone came to our table every few minutes to ask if we wanted anything or ask us if everything was okay. I do appreciate this, but we were stopped mid conversation way too many times. I'm sure that the servers were trying to do a good job, but like I said at this price point- you need REALLY GOOD service, atmosphere, and food. Anyway, onto the food. My favorite was the faithful roll, tuna mentaiko (secret menu), and the negi toro maki. The fish was super fresh, the roll was unique, and I like how the toro wasn't minced. I didn't really enjoy the hamachi tacos- the flavor palette wasn't working for me. And I wish that I passed on the miso cod, it was a very soft piece of fish with no sear on it sitting on soft veggies and sauce. Overall, I can see that this place has potential. The fish quality is REALLY good and the chef has good ideas. However, I'm not sure if I would return.

Yelp
After we ordered omakase, it took 30 minutes to get the first dish. Then I found a thick black hair in my dish. The server just took the dish and replaced it with no apology. The uni pasta doesn't have any single piece of uni. They said it's in the sauce. Terrible experience.

Yelp
Came here for date night with my husband after reading rave reviews. We had a reservation but the restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived. I don't think you really need a reservation. Service was attentive but they served us the wrong roll at one point. Overall, I thought the food was just mediocre. I wasn't blown away by anything and for the price point, I think I would've been happier dining elsewhere. I do think to each their own. It just missed the mark for us.

Yelp
The garlic edamame and wagyu was the best part of the meal. We ordered the sashimi platter and some other sushi nigiri, but couldn't finish it because of the taste. We were expecting fresh tasting sashimis. Maybe their omakase would be better. The presentation for the grill wagyu meat was nice tho! Service was ok.

Yelp
My husband and I love this place. I've already written an indepth review. Hopefully the review is still there. We still need to come back and try their omakase!
