The Best Restaurants Along Coastal Mississippi | Eater New Orleans

"Chef Anthony Rametta, a longtime culinary force along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, is in the kitchen at Trilby’s, a name long synonymous with fine dining in Ocean Springs. Trilby’s is a homage to Lillian “Trilby” Steiner, who opened Trilby’s in 1952. Rametta’s menu offers classics, from trout almandine to blackened redfish and shrimp and grits. Lunch is more casual; think po’ boys, burgers, and salads. Trout Trilby, with its topping of crabmeat au gratin, is an all-day indulgence." - Beth D’Addono

We had a wonderful evening out with friends it was our first time to experience Trilby’s. We dinned 11/21/25 the first impression was over the top and it got even better walking to our table. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas, very beautiful and no details were left out. We sat in the back dining room with all the gorgeous live oaks drenched and white Christmas lights. Ladies they will bring you a marble stand to put your handbags on so that your experience purse will not be on the floor. We started with cocktails and appetizers stuffed figs, calamari, both delicious. We all got something different The Burger, Chicken piccata, Chicken pot pie, The Pompano fish. Everyone took pictures because it was presented in fine dining experience. Everyone loved their dinner. Our server was Sam she took excellent care of us. I made a birthday cake to celebrate my birthday they cut it and served it. I told them to take the rest of the cake and share with all of the staff. Several came out to thank us and said it was delicious that nobody has treated the whole staff to cake. If you’re looking for a place to have a staff, family, friends Christmas party this is the place to be.

Trilbys Restaurant in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, offers an unforgettable dining experience in a beautifully restored space that combines old-world charm with modern updates. The original restaurant has been thoughtfully restored, and the decor strikes a perfect balance between elegance and warmth, with a stunning bar right at the entrance setting the stage for a welcoming atmosphere. Each dining room has its own unique charm, with crisp white tablecloths creating the perfect setting for fine dining. The menu at Trilbys is carefully curated, offering an array of delicious choices that cater to a variety of tastes. Their beverage menu includes a solid selection of beers, wines, and expertly crafted cocktails. For appetizers, we tried the bacon-wrapped dates, which were absolutely delicious—perfectly sweet, savory, and satisfying. The salad starter, a chopped salad, was complemented by their homemade blue cheese dressing, which was simply amazing and a standout on the table. For our main courses, we all opted for fish entrées, and we were not disappointed. The fish was fresh and expertly prepared, with each dish perfectly cooked. The à la carte style allows you to select from a variety of delicious sides, and we chose the brussels sprouts, which were tender and flavorful, making the meal even more enjoyable. The service was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. Trilbys is the perfect spot for a special evening out—whether you're treating yourself to a fantastic meal or looking for a romantic setting. The combination of delicious food, charming atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a top choice for anyone in Ocean Springs looking for a memorable dining experience.

My favorite thing I got to eat was the French Onion Soup. Some of the best I've had. The other dishes were okay but I would not order them again. The crab cakes texture was as if it were undercooked, where I like mine with a crunchy outside, but it did have a good flavor. I also got the steak frites with truffle fries and although the steak had a really good flavor some pieces were tough and non chewable. Truffle fries were average, but I wanted to dip them in some ketchup 😂 lol I had to add a pic of my purse sitting on a marble topped stool they brought me so it wouldn't have to sit on the floor, so I thought that was cool. Overall a very nice atmosphere but I won't rush back, but I'd definitely go get me some soup Togo!

Unfortunately did not have a good first experience at Trilbys. For reference, I come from a culinary background, have ran family owned steakhouses as a chef, and now work in beef/seafood sales so a good steak is always something I’m on the hunt for. To start, the ambiance and staff were very friendly they were never an issue really. The issues started when I ordered the gumbo. A gentlemen came out a couple minutes after and asked if I would be ok without the rice with it as it had been sitting for a few hours and was no good. I said ok and the gumbo was still good, but at the end, they didn’t even offer to discount or present anything to show they were sorry. Just charged full price for a dish that was only 60% there. We ordered the Brussels sprouts as well but ate one and did not finish. They tasted as if they were blanched and just reheated boiled or in water. They were very limp and lacked flavor. Both my guest and I ordered Ribeyes. Both came out cooked perfectly but had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The beef itself was good, but it tasted like they just cooked it with no seasoning at all and just had a light sauce underneath. We let the server know but she did not seem very interested in grabbing a side of seasoning or offering to make it right. She offered to take it back, but as the only two people in the restaurant that’s hard to do for some people and my guest didn’t feel comfortable doing so. For $68, a small starter salad and no sides, seems like a stretch especially with local competition offering superior flavors and substance of food to fill you up for similar or better prices. For desert I got the bread pudding which was great but for being the cheapest thing we got, and being the best thing we ate, didn’t really make us feel good about paying the near $240 tab for two people. Overall wouldn’t recommend unless it’s just for desert. Will not be coming back for a while most likely.

First time visiting on Christmas Eve. Service was outstanding! Our waitress was attentive, offered helpful suggestions and seemed to really enjoy her job and customers. The french onion soup and bacon wrapped fig appetizers were very good. The chicken picatta and filet mignon were excellent as was the tableside Bananas Foster.

Theresa and Trenton were great and provided excellent service! Hubs and I split the bacon-wrapped Figs, Crabcakes, Chicken Pot Pie, Wedge Salad, and Peach Cobbler. All were delicious. We can't wait to come back and try their dinner menu.

Google
First time at this classic restaurant in Ocean Springs. Really enjoyed most of the dishes, very impressive presentation. For starters the green tomatoes and tuna were exceptional. Other standouts were the French onion soup and shrimp with grits main course. Pesto was good but cappellini is not easy to do well, maybe spaghetti would work better. Attentive service throughout the meal, highly recommended.

Yelp
beautiful restaurant interior with a small bar in the front of the restaurant. food was mediocre. we had a variety of dishes and all were reported to be lacking in flavor. dishes came out warm but not hot. each item is ala cart with small portions. nine dollars for four stalks of asparagus. i had the risotto and it lacked flavor and was mushy. service was good but in a difficult to explain manner was a bit strange. it would appear our waitress was speaking to us but when we attempted to respond it was as if she hadn't spoken. just strange.

Yelp
Fine dining. Understated elegance, with dim lighting, velvet seating creating a luxury tone. Each room has its own unique decor, pristine linens, adding to the refined feel. Private, warm intimate ambiance. Service is great. Best Risotto I've had. Love the vibe here.

Yelp
We tried this new restaurant for lunch. We were not dressed up and this place is very fancy. The service was very good and the yellowfin tuna is the best thing I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Complex layers of creamy guacamole with spicy and acidic from pickled salad. House made blue cheese dressing was wonderful on my house salad and the pot pie was also very good. Nice wine list.

Yelp
We were a little early but went in and were amazed at the gorgeous interior. The fireplaces have the tiny lights and fantastic chandeliers. There was another dining area where you could see outside and the beautiful huge oak tree wrapped in lights. Atmosphere means a lot. We were greeted by Jill and Nick the manager Trent and the cute bartender. Everyone checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Laura had trout almondine and she loved it. Gail had pompano perfectly cooked. I had trout trilby and I can't begin to describe such a great dish. We also had brussel sprouts and spinach. Also amazing crusty bread with olive oil. We also ordered peach cobbler with ice cream. This was an incredible dining experience. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I began eating at Trilby's in about 1975 (date unreliable), mostly business lunches. It was run (and really run) by Jocelyn Mayfield, who apparently has been erased as a reference in recent restaurant literature. Jocelyn learned from the chefs and proprietors before her, and did well while adding her magic. A standard was a seafood salad and gumbo. Trilby's was a tool in our sales effort, with customers from all the USA asking to return to it. One pair carried pecan pie and gumbo back to New England after Jocelyn re-opened after 10 PM to let us in after a test... NO MORE. Twice in the past year I have eaten there, both times as a family hosted guest of honor. My disappointment of every appetizer, entre, or dessert was unanimous. I found few menu items from the past, ordered them, and did not recognize them. I did not finish my seafood gratin or gumbo. Neither had significant seafood and the gumbo was uncooked okra stew. Bling like bananas Foster and glowing ice cubes detracted from the ambience. Over the two hours two or three other tables were ever occupied. Lots of money (party of 10) wasted.

Yelp
Wonderful dining experience. First dining experience included th Crab cakes, Crab Au gratin dip, Bacon wrapped stuffed figs, Chicken piccata. All exceptional. Finished with Chocolate mouse with port. So very delicious. Went back 2 days later had French onion soup, Trilbys chopped salad and again finished with Chocolate Mouse with port.

Yelp
Arguably the best overall place for high end dining on the Coast. The food is fabulous! Delicious and beautifully presented. The service is impeccable. The ambience is beautiful. This is our premiere dining experience here on the Coast now.

Yelp
Went for dinner last weekend. We had French onion soup and gumbo and we enjoyed both. Sautéed crab claws are a must too. We ordered the trout trilby and trout amandine for our entrees that were delicious. Recommend the loaded potato with a cheesy béchamel sauce as a side. Great first time back dining since the reopening. Wonderful job on the decor and ambience inside. We will happily return.

Yelp
Ordered a medium rare steak and fries, came out well over done. Pretty flavorless besides the overwhelming balsamic reduction . Wife ordered scallops, tasted like you were chewing on a lemon peel. The only saving grace was the creme brûlée, very nice. Servers were great and atmosphere was good, but With what I saw on menu and the fact nobody in my party of 4 had really any good things to say about their meal we won't be back.

Yelp
Wanted to try a new place for our anniversary and heard some great things about Trilby's. We were not disappointed as soon as we walked in the door we felt special. Seated in a quiet area and Samantha, our server was super, told us about specials and took our drink order. Our order, Calamari, Trout Almandine, Trout Trilby and Crème Brûlée plus a bottle of wine. Everything, service, food and atmosphere were absolutely terrific, will certainly be going there again.

Yelp
5 stars all the way. Food, service, ambiance. Everything was as hoped. Not a single sub-5 star second of tonight's dinner experience.

Yelp
Trilby's is a quite lovely special occasion restaurant. The decor is impeccable. The servers are most accommodating and the food is superb. My only criticism would be the prices. I'm not adverse to paying $26 for the Trilby's Trout. It was fantastic. However, I accept the small portion but the fact it came with nothing else bothered me. We paid $9 for the wedge salad, which was fantastic. When we go to Half Shell we pay about the same for an entree, however, it comes with two sides. While I loved Trilby's, it's not a place I'd frequent often. Especially because it's very difficult to get out of the parking lot and back onto 90. When you pull out you are immediately in the right turning lane for Washington. It's very tricky.

Yelp
This restaurant will not disappoint! It is has ambiance, great service and excellent food. We were a party of six and everyone went away happy. I would highly recommend Trilby's.
