The Hottest Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, June 2025 | Eater Houston

"A smash-burger concept co-owned by a local rap legend that replicates its Houston flagship aesthetic and menu in a suburban Spring location, serving signature smash burgers with all-beef patties, pickles, caramelized onions, Trill Sauce, and American cheese on a potato roll alongside seasoned fries and new beverages like freshly squeezed Trill Lemonade and other lemonades and Arnold Palmers in a vibrant, mural-adorned space seating roughly 80 indoors and 32 on the patio." - Brittany Britto Garley

I’ve been to this place twice now, and this time I brought my husband. We were both blown away! The food was just as delicious as the first time - fresh, hot, and the fries were crispy and perfectly cooked. Darryl, the guy who took our order, was amazing. He was friendly, attentive, and knew everything about the menu. He treated every customer that walked in with respect. The parking lot was spacious and had plenty of spots, including handicap spots. They even had vegetarian menu items! The lobby was clean and organized. I’m really impressed with the standards they’ve maintained considering they’ve only been open for a few months.

Google
This is definitely one of the best burgers that I have ever had. It gives the taste of a properly seasoned steak burger with a bit of a crunch to the edges of the patty. The fries were hot, fresh, and awesome as well. I can definitely see why they are so highly rated. The price is a bit higher than the nearby fast food chains but the quality of the products are evident. I make it a point to go at least twice a month. Every time I have been I have been on the go so I haven't had the pleasure of eating inside yet, but could see some cool decor and merchandise through the windows worth checking out. No issues with staff professionalism when I have gone and food is always served fresh and presentation is top tier ( just look at the packaging). As far as I know, this is only available in Houston so if visiting from out of town be sure to put this on your to-do list!

Expectations: Blown out of the water. 11 out of 10 burger. Temperature? Sizzling hot fresh off the grill Juiciness? Oh Yeah! Flavor? TRILL😎 Flavor was the standout star of this burger. Ingredients make for the perfect taste. The burger has a way of tasting like a saucy guilty pleasure and a tasteful delight that doesn't do too much all at the same time. I haven't even talked about the fries! Crunchy and salty and plenty of them in the combo!! They taste beer battered but im not 100% sure. Simple menu, kind staff who opened door for us on the way in and out, good energy in the spot and most of all an amazing burger. Thanks bun b🍔 #Trill

I stopped by Trill Burger with my family and we can say that we were not disappointed. The burgers are everything you want them to be — juicy, flavorful, and stacked . I ordered the OG burger and their special sauce, and honestly, it might be the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The fries were golden and crispy. It was perfect . I also had a lemonade and it was so fresh and amazing . The staff was friendly and the vibe inside was laid-back and very clean. If you’re looking for a place that takes burgers seriously, this is it. I’ll definitely be back. Next time I’m trying the vegan burger!

Google
I’ve been dying to try “America’s Best Burger.” Turns out, that title must’ve been awarded when taste buds were out on strike. I drove an hour with dreams of burger bliss, only to be served a grilled cheese wearing a beef disguise. Seriously, there was more cheese than meat. The meat? Maybe three ounces, tops. And the price? $15 for that and some fries. I felt less like I had a meal and more like I got gently mugged with a receipt. The one bright spot? The crew was genuinely friendly and good tunes. Final verdict: I won’t be back. And if this is America’s best burger, I fear for the state of our taste buds.

I had an incredible meal at the Trill Burgers off Louetta and Highway 249. The staff was professional, kind and eager to help the patrons on this fine Sunday evening. The food was very delicious, freshly made and delivered in a timely manner. For how seasoned and well prepared the food was, I was definitely appreciative for how quickly it got to me. The burger is the right size with an incredibly flavorful sauce while the fries were freshly crispy with savory taste that is both unique and satisfying. Come on through. It’s the perfect place to relax and eat some simply delectable burgers and fries!

Google
All good. Fast and flavorful burgers. Staff is quick and efficient. Parking is a bit tight but worth the wait. Cane sugar drinks not available at this location. Dr Pepper is not available for the ones who like it. Small inconveniences but that is not why we go to Trill Burger.

Google
Delicious burgers topped with grilled onions, pickles, and Trill sauce with a side of some of the best fries I’ve ever had! The fries were battered, fried and seasoned to perfection. This is something small, but the bun is super fresh and the end of it isn’t cut, so the sauce, etc didn’t fall out. The packaging was unique. Service was great. The only thing that I thought was weird was how the prices vary depending on in person vs the website. It was cheaper in person, so I was happy.

Yelp
I finally got the chance to try Trill; I am glad it made its way to the Spring area. First off to have my door opened for me as a I was getting ready to walk in is some great service if I do say so myself. I placed an order for pick up because I didn't know what to expect (I remember when y'all were waiting in line just to get food and that wasn't about to be me). I got a text my order was ready as soon as I pulled up so that worked out. I ordered the OG Burger combo with no pickles and my fries extra crispy. It's a pretty good burger and I understand the hype when Trill first opened! The fries were a bit salty but still good nonetheless. Trill has proven it's here to stay and I'm glad it found its way to my neck of the woods!

Yelp
Upon arrival we were greeted by a gentleman at the door; which shows they value the customer experience. The restaurant was not super busy so our order was taken immediately. The menu was very simple which makes ordering fairly easy. We ordered the OG Burger Combo and were not disappointed. The buns are "potato-ish," very soft and paired well with the other components. I really love the smashed patties, they were tender with a crispy edge, and flavorful. The onions and the sauce really take the burger to another level. Definitely melt in your mouth! The fries seem to have a batter-like texture that gives them an extra crispiness. I lOVED them! The restaurant is filled with eye catching yellow decor from the walls to the cute boxes the food comes in. It is evident they put a lot of thought into this business concept. My review was a 5 star, however I had to reconsider a 4-4.5. After eating I went to the counter to purchase another meal for my sister. As I was standing at the front waiting for the order, I noticed one of the female cooks eating fries while prepping food. Some may think this is no biggie, however, food safety should be taken seriously, and employees should eat in a designated area away from food prep/storage. I stand to be corrected, but to my knowledge the purpose of this rule is to prevent cross contamination. Just something for them to put on their radar so other employees won't pick up these habits. Other than this, everything else was great!

Yelp
Ok. I've been looking forward to this place for a while (it's FAR for me) and it didn't disappoint. Not the best burger I've had but a damn good one. Service was FAST and courteous. I didn't go in, just through the drive thru. I live closer to Hotline burger so that will still be my go-to but if I'm in the area, you bet I'm coming back. The fries were so good and they gave so much! I couldn't finish them! Additional review: unlike my first time at Yoyo's, I ordered a 2nd burger combo just in case.... And I'm glad I did. Reheated the fries and burger in the air fryer for 5 mins and it's STILL SO GOOD! The fries didn't go bad like other fast food joint fries so I was very happy about that. Over all, HIGHLY enjoyable. Would I go back? Hell yeah! I'd go back right now if my big back wasn't so full. Wouldn't get the lemonade again (it's expense) but it was worth it to try. Thanks for being in Houston. Now we need one in SW Houston please. Spring is a little far.

Yelp
Trill Burgers is consistent across the locations. We visited and got a carryout order. The place wasn't as busy as it had been when it originally opened, but the drive-thru was fairly busy - word of advice, park on the right side of the parking lot, but don't worry, they do have personnel who can help you get out if you are blocked in. I like the flavor of the burgers - not overly salty. I think the fries are slightly harder than I'd like, but combined with trill sauce, it's still a great time. My companion tried the lemonade (not pictured) since it is currently exclusive to this location and he liked it.

Yelp
First off, finally able to go as the line was very short around 2:25 pm. This location is new, just opened. Very close to home! Used to be our favorite Dairy Queen. Price: VERY pricy! Worth it? Yeah Burger: Got the OG (double patty/cheese) Combo very good but smaller than I thought. Grilled / Caramelized onions very nice No Coke Zero or shakes. (Thumbs down) Fries: So so good. Crunchy on outside, soft inside. Kind of like a small steak fry but regular fry shape, but thick. Loved them! (Thumbs up)... Overall ... I'll be back, just not too often because of the price. I settled for Diet Coke. Used Drive-Thru. The staff are really nice & friendly! I will go at peak hours and see how it goes too. Overall - YUMMY!!

Yelp
The menu is very limited which I love because it made my selection super quick and easy. I got the OG burger with fries and a pink lemonade. This has easily become the best burger and lemonade I've ever had. I am from Florida and wish we had Trill Burger down here in Orlando. Whoever was on the aux did an amazing job because the music had me dancing while eating my burger. Loved this place and definitely recommend to anyone visiting Texas !

Yelp
They deleted my initial review. I was the first person to review the spring location, but if you all thought that I don't go back and check my review statuses....that's silly of you. These burgers are overpriced and overly hyped. Not seasoned well and well well well too done for my liking. The fries were well seasoned and very tasty, but I thought the burgers were the stars. Not at all. The staff's customer service was very nice. It was hot as hell in there so there is a ventilation/AC issue. The strawberry lemonade was awesome. This place is all hype and maybe a once a year spot....that's if I come back at all because the burgers aren't good enough to warrant the price. To the people who are complaining about the "Rap" music being "too loud" ....baby, ya'll are not the target audience and apparently know nothing about UGK, Pun B, Pimp C or what Trill Burger was built on. Go to John Wayne or Kenny Rodgers Taven because Trill Burger will never be for you. You'll never get it and Bun you all got a lot of work to do to ensure this location stays relevant and enjoyable, but the burgers ain't good. They Look Better Than They Are, but They Need To Be Better Than They Is...You feel me? That said--NEVER turn down the music. Everything else is fixable. Good Luck!

Yelp
We got happy when we saw the yellow and black sign from the street. As we walked up the door was opened by Trill staff member and greeted with a smile and hello as we approached the counter to order. The atmosphere was % hip hop all the music that will have your head bopping. The food was so good I wanted to slap the cooks. The fries crispy and seasoned right the caramelized onions on that tasty smash burger on fcking point. Thank you Bun B and Trill staff.

Yelp
My daughter liked her kids meal and it's a lot better than other fast food options. The service was friendly and accommodating. I used the drive through so I'm not sure about the ambiance. I would return for the same.

Yelp
I'd give it a 4.5 if I could! Since I reside up north, I've always wanted to try Trill since they opened up down in uptown. They opened a location here in spring years later, and it was my time to try! Of course grand opening was pretty chaotic, drive thru line was to the street and the lot was pretty full. But we found a spot of parking pretty quick. We were greeted at the door by someone opening the doors for us, which was so nice. And we ordered pretty quick, I felt a little rushed, my partner tried to order it with just one slice of cheese but he dryly told us no. She's allergic to cheese but wanted to try one anyway, we just shrugged it off. Despite the chaos inside the place we got our food pretty quickly. The burger itself was so melt in your mouth good, I kind of went thru the burger in less than 5 minutes, it's a bit mess because of how soft the bun is but not bad. The fries had a lot of potential but fell a little short. I'd be back most of mg positive experience is just the burger itself!

Yelp
Let me start by saying this is almost to a 4, it's around a 3.7-8. To get it out of the way, skip the Arnold Palmer, it is straight up not good, no sweetness and all lemon bitter. Will try the other flavors but the AP is a dud. Getting better with it were the fries. Nice crisp exterior, soft on the inside and well seasoned. The fries really turned around my expectations because I had a notion in my head that the spot was all hype. Now to the star of the show, the OG Trill burger. Looking at it it looks good, nice char, cheese melted nicely. First bite you really taste the char and flavor of a good smash burger. But I was a little underwhelmed. Let me keep eating a little more. I get a pickle, that's nice and fresh on the palette. Ok now a little sauce, getting better and better. Now I get a bite of the grilled onions, that's where it's at. Flavor explosion. The next time I go I'm going to ask for extra onions because the flavor let me tell you. All in all it was a good experience, I would go back again. A little pricey for a combo at around $15 but I usually just get a burger by itself and drink water. Can't comment on the interior of the establishment since we hit the drive through. The attendant in the drive through was nice as well.

Yelp
Good burger, I got the OG combo which is the double patty smash burger. First time trying it so I got it dressed the normal way, their sauce, cheese, grilled onions. Felt like I could've eaten another one after I ate the combo. Combo came out to be around $16. It's cool to go to if you're looking for something different. I'd go again but at $16 per combo it'd be a solo trip, not paying $32 for me and the misses. If I'm just rating the burger, 8 out of 10. If I'm rating the totality of it all I say a 7 out of 10.

Yelp
Burgers were good, fries excellent and a good portion. The music was too loud and too modern for me, did not enjoy eating in!
google avatar

Yelp
Eek! Spring got the second Trill Burger. My husband had one at NRG, but by the time he got to his sear it was not at its full potential. Then, we tried to go to the Shepard location, and it was randomly closed. I don't eat meat, and had desperately wanted to try the vegan trill burger. I think they opened yesterday. The space is trendy and festive. The employees were all super friendly and seemed really excited. I think the vegan burger is impossible sausage patty. I do not know, nor do I personally care, if the cheese was vegan, but it was SO good. The menu and prices are online. We got there at 10:45, there was already a drive through line, and a pretty full parking lot. We got out of the car and waited by the door. Immediately, everyone else got out of their cars. Someone did mention they had been there first. We offered to trade places, the offer was not accepted. What do you think the etiquette is for these situations?
google avatar

Alan B.

Yelp
Let's start with the service. We waited thirty two minutes in order to order in the drive through. Entirely, too, long when the restaurant basically serves one item. Yes, they opened recently. But there were only 82 ten cars ahead of me. Now to the food. Burgers or not bad, but they're not great either. They were overseaoned and had way too much sauce. The fact that you can't add any fresh vegetables it's also a disappointment. The fries our average at best. Prices aren't outrageous, but a bit on the high side. I might go back in a pinch, but I wouldn't wait more than a few minutes.
google avatar

Gouchlien T.

Yelp
The ambiance and physical space were nice, expected of a relatively newly opened restaurant. I loved the mural inside! I had the regular OG burger combo. The burger was delicious, served at just the right temperature. I really enjoyed the fries as well, delicious on their own. I was able to get cherry Coke there, which I really appreciated having available, though it would have been nice to have iced tea available. The service was pretty fast. I would definitely go there again to try the vegan option!
google avatar

Calvin P.

Yelp
1st time and won't be the last. The food was excellent. Delicious burger. Fries were perfect. The employees were cool as hell. Thank you Trill Burgers
google avatar

Janie G.

Yelp
The burger was overall really good and great service however I wish they had an option for lettuce lol I also think it would be very beneficial to have employees repeat orders Overall, great experience, got our food really fast and fresh for being busy

LaToya S.

Yelp
I've been to the original and the one in NRG and rodeo, burger is pretty good IMO, I think the spring location can have the burgers a little hotter the first time I went my burger wasn't hot but still tasty. I returned and it was hot and fresh! Glad they are close by now!
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
The food was mediocre, very high in price and not worth it for us. There are many better burgers and better value all around us in spring.
google avatar

Linda F.

Yelp
Overpriced. Staff is great. Website doesn't allow for ordering kids meals. Music didn't bother me but it would many older folks.
google avatar

Andres D.

Yelp
Bun B , you are bugging. Took use 25 minutes to order two burger meals. One was a kids meal. Staff, let's not even go there. Got 9 ppl in the back and only one or two were cooking. Americas best burger? ....Not even close. It's pricey cause you got to pay for a pop up of bun b on your burger box. Also, who ever salting the fries, needs to be fired. Jim's original in Chicago will have you lining up for seconds, have you served, food swallowed and on your way home before you even get your order in at trill. Plus, let's just keep it a buck, Bunslut better than yall. Don't get me totally wrong tho. The burgers are decent. But $29 for two meals and a 30 min wait, not worth it.

Lorraine D.

Yelp
When we placed our order we couldn't hear what the employee was saying because the music was so loud. We were told our number would be called. After a substantial wait I finally went to the counter. I was told they had called my number twice. I informed them I couldn't hear because of the music. There are young children and families dining there and the choice of music was in very bad taste. Children should not be exposed to songs that include mother-f.c.k.r in the lyrics. I do not recommend going there unless you aren't offended by vulgar words.
google avatar

Tony G.

Yelp
Just like I remembered it from the pop ups, the shepherd location and the rodeo! Keep pumpin out the burgers yall.
google avatar

Brandan h.

Yelp
Food was okay, had a vegan burger. Not what I'm used too because I don't eat vegan burgers! But the service was great, and ambiance was amazing.

Gene M.

Yelp
Wife and I both dropped in on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the OG combo for dine in. The burger flavor was great, with the caramelized onions and sauce were terrific. The fries are outstanding on their own, crunchy and seasoned on the outside and tender inside. They don't even have salt available (you don't need it). Music was grooving, but not overbearing. Definitely worth repeating.
google avatar

Frederick Ted W.

Yelp
They don't drug screen their employees and it shows. Could say a lot more but not a fan of excessively unhealthy greasy food.

Len P.

Yelp
Excellent, the food was great and getting the order was basically no wait time!! Will definitely go back!!

Don N.

Yelp
My Gson knew all about the place, who owns it, all the hype . . . so he couldn't wait, I took him to the new Spring location a couple days after it opened. I'm all for new local businesses starting up . . . First of all, they refused to take cash . . . card only. I originally got on their Facebook page and sent them a private message questioning the No Cash - Card only policy. They never answered. I asked again, No answer. I then put a message on their Facebook page. Don't know who it was that answered - - but something about it was a good policy because no cash in the building would keep them from being robbed . . and many places are going to this approach. I take Gkids to many places. I have never been to any other place that only takes credit cards. A hamberger, fries, 2 drinks - was about $25. Burger was ok, nothing special. Fries over done IMO. Was It worth it . . . $18 maybe . . . $25 - no. These prices in NRG - - I understand. These prices with 8 other fast food places within a couple miles . . . I don't see it. I would never go back. First several days there was a line 20 cars long every time we went by. Seems they have slowed way down . . . I wish them luck . . .
