Triona's On Third

Just about the perfect sports bar near Union square east and bordering the east village and grammercy. They have a ton of beers on draft. Seriously I was amazed at all their options including Labatt from Canada! The food was delicious-especially their Buffalo style wings. My favorite detail was there bar chairs. Proper high chairs with back support for taller folks. Finally their bartender Mikey was a super friendly dude taking care of everyone. Def worth multiple visits during football season! Cheers! 🍻

My friends and I come here for trivia Tuesdays. Amazing food and super friendly staff! They also have an online ordering system which makes getting your food/drinks much easier.

Honestly a perfect sports bar. Crowded but not too crowded. You can get a table on a football Sunday. Food is great. Service is particularly excellent. It really shows. Fantastic vibe. Highly recommend!!

Arguably the best sports bar in Manhattan. The service is impeccable. The drinks are well-priced. The food never disappoints. The next time you are planning a trip to New York City, I encourage you to include Triona's On Third in your itinerary.

It was my first visit in this bar and everything was just good. I mean prices, drinks, wings and service. Yet next day about 8 am I have received a message from my bank that someone was trying to charge my credit card for circa $300 somewhere in Long Island. The same very card that I used to pay in this bar. I am suspecting someone in this bar stole my credit card number that evening. I don't know if it was a worker or some customer. I hope I am wrong but if something looks like a duck...

Really enjoyed a Sunday afternoon of football seated at the bar. Fast service and the staff were all great! Good variety of beers on tap!

Great sports bar in east village. Service is great. Extensive beer collection. TVs all over so everyone can see games. Good bar food is to be had. Tater tots absolutely addictive and wings were solid.

Very chill dive bar. Has darts which is cool and a deal on drinks if u order through the QR code on your table. The bartenders were very nice and attentive. Will be coming back

Organized a team HH/Trivia night here on a Tuesday. If you're interested in visiting here for Trivia night **CALL IN ADVANCE** !!! I called day of, realizing I may need to reserve. Although there were plenty of tables available for HH around 5-5:30pm arrival, there was scarce availability for trivia @7. The staff was very friendly though, and arranged the seating around Triona's opening time, and called me back to give me some options, including reserving 2 smaller tables for my group of 7 people for trivia. It worked out perfectly, and I appreciated the service at Triona's! The HH drinks are great prices, and on Trivia nights HH goes until 8pm, which is awesome. It includes beers, wines, and standard cocktails ($10). The margarita was quite strong, and a colleague enjoyed the mojito! Service was limited throughout the night - it seemed like only 2 people were on the floor the entire night. People are encouraged to order via phone, where you can order and pay immediately, so service is there mainly to bring food over or clean up dishes. Ordering via phone is very easy; since we were using a corporate card, I preferred ordering with the server though. The food here was really good, namely the quesadilla, pretzel, and the guacamole!! The buffalo spring rolls were interesting... they were hearty but I wasn't a huge fan. The apps were well worth it and filled us up, which was much needed when we were enjoying those strong drinks!! Trivia night was very fun, and I'd recommend Triona's as a HH spot!

This is a standard sports bar - it has the drinks and decor you expect, and it's solid in every way.

One of my go-to sports bars/pubs in the city for drinks on the weekend or after work. Staff is always friendly and they have a great beer selection. Bar food is also good, especially the mozzarella sticks. A big plus is also they are one of the few bars that have golf on regularly.

great bar to walk in for a pint. I love that they have qr codes on the tables bc it keeps the walk way open and you don't have to fight to get to the bartender or anything. also keeps from constantly being asked if you need anything - you can order on your own and close out virtually. great for sports games or big happy hours, food is decent and there is a wide range of pub fare you can order. gets a bit loud, they do play sports with the sound on (including commercials which drives me crazy)

I came here to watch the Michigan game on a Saturday. I was able to sit at a table with my friends. They had my favorite cider (Downeast cider)! My friends and I also shaded some chicken fingers and pretzels. I didn't really care for the chicken fingers and wish they were more crispy and Raising Cane like. The pretzel was hotttt and came with 2 pretzels.

Decent classic Irish pub ambiance spot to grab a pint and watch some sports. Didn't get any food, but the burgers that came out looked good. My partner and I each took advantage of the HH drink specials, which were good (esp for the area). Bartender was friendly and attentive!

Deeply disappointed by the lack of basic respect. We stepped into this bar briefly during the Knicks game and it was understandably crowded and small, but what stood out wasn't the space, it was the way the bouncer treated our friend in a wheelchair. We did realize it was packed but our friend in the group needed to use the bathroom so we said we'd leave after that. Instead of being offered assistance or even treated with decency, the bouncer told our friend in wheelchair to "move out of the way" and was annoyed like she was a problem. Not where I'll be going anytime soon.

Great place to watch a Thursday night football game or....a Saturday night College game!

My partner loves this place and we came here mostly to get nachos. The waiter was very nice but the food took forever. Once the food got to the table the nachos were really good. The fries were good but when I asked for cheese and bacon (they were add-on options) it left little to be desired; you can see in the picture the barely melted cubes of cheese and chunks of bacon. It tasted okay but not what I was expecting. Overall good place to chill and drink beer.

Alas it ends on a bitter note. We've been coming to Triona's on 3rd for weeks for trivia (I have several reviews) + we tend to grab appetizers like wings often too. I called as usual for a reservation as usual and wasn't informed that they are now implementing a min charge of $50 per table. So I got there, and 5 min in, I am told about the minimum charge but there's no way I would leave then and leave my team hanging, considering we come here for the "free" trivia. So I was stuck. We did order food, and frankly now I know that better wings can be found for cheaper. In the area. The service isn't great at all. There is one server (potentially one of the owners) who is pretty unsmiling and curt (now that the rose tinted glasses are off, I recognize it's always been that way) and who I dealt with that night, and there is another who seems a little more customer-oriented. I just can't see myself coming here, with us splashing $50 on food that isn't worth it. I get the need to implement a min charge. But the service isn't to my liking, and there are other better bars in the area with free trivia, as advertised. P.s. Even the quizmaster was sad to see us leave when I told him we might not come back to our usual bar trivia spot

Great atmosphere, great staff, great for sports. Wings were good, nothing to scream from the mountaintops about but a solid sports bar wing. Licked the bones clean so I'd say they are dependable little buggers. If you want a good time with friends, sports and wings...this is your spot.

Went here to have some drinks and watch football. Wasn't a fan of the service. They waitress made us consolidate our tabs at the table so we couldn't go to the bar. That would have been fine if they regularly came around to get orders from the tables but that wasn't the case. Also, we wanted to play darts but for some reason they put tables right under it so we couldnt play. They also said they had the best wings in NYC but I could argue a lot of other places. They were solid but I wouldn't say best in NY. Maybe if they came out quicker and I could have ordered them in a decent period of time it would have swayed me too.

We went to Triona's On Third for their Trivia Tuesdays with friends. It was pretty empty, provided it was a bar on a rainy Tuesday. We were appropriately greeted, and the service was excellent. The trivia was on phones, and it was pretty entertaining. The host put a reasonable effort into organizing it and checked with the patrons between rounds. The food was good sports bar food but also had options for a good meal. It was well priced, and proportions were good for sharing. I'd recommend Triona's On Third!

Came here on a Tuesday and was quite impressed. I thought it was gonna be a typical bar. The food was actually pretty good! The Chicago style hot dogs, loaded hash and buffalo wings are a must get. They have trivia night in Tuesdays and the winning group gets free shots.

This place is very confusing. The first couple of times here, there were about 25 people total. The most recent time, it was jammed and not in a good way. Too crowded, too packed, too slow to get drinks and most definitely had me walking out at halftime of the game we went to watch. Huge Michigan bar and better than the other options because the crowd is slightly older (think late 20s early 30s). That is a good thing. That said, I would be prepared to stand and wait...for a spot, for a beer, for a view of the tv. Lots going on here and that made for an annoying Saturday.

After a great time at Triona's in Greenwich about two months ago, we randomly stumbled upon this new location on Third Ave and had a blast here as well! Walking in, you'll see a few high-top tables up by the front window, and plenty of seating along the bar counter. Colored LED strips illuminate the back bar in a soothing orange, with a light blue glow emanating from beneath the bar counter. The side wall opposite the back bar is plastered with vintage-style wood and tin signs, with two chalkboards detailing the happy hour specials and available beers. Plenty of flatscreen TVs jut out from the ceilings and walls, giving everyone a good view when there's a game on. There's some stacked stone on the back wall, with soft directed lighting bringing out its shadows...overall the whole bar looks very cool and polished. After sitting down at the bar, we were greeted by none other than Triona's brother Michael, who served us a few rounds of $4 Shock Tops and $5 specialty shots (both of which were discounted on Thursday nights). Michael was great to talk to, striking up conversations with us in-between serving and laughing with the other patrons at the bar. He even let one of our friends back behind the bar to thumb through his Spotify playlist and throw some new songs in the mix! Gut-renovated and open for less than one month, this place doesn't quite have that "lived in" feel of its Greenwich counterpart, but the solid drink specials/prices, friendly staff, assortment of flatscreens, and rockin' music playlist make visits to this place worth putting on repeat!

My favorite sports bar in the city. Great service, fun ambience, and surprisingly top notch food. I highly recommend the wings. A true staple in Gramercy.

My absolute boy, Keith, says the waffle fries here are crazy good. As a potato farmer, he knows his waffle fries. Vibes are high and the beers are flowin like the salmon of Capistrano. 10/10. Go here. Haha.

Solid bar - decent selection of drafts on tap, timely service from bartenders and staff, and good use of space for both individuals and groups. As a bonus, I was pleasantly surprised by the food, simple and tasty (chicken burger with a side of veggies pictured).

The bar is a fan of the Cubs given its insane line during the world series in 2016. Darts in the back, Typical NYC sports bar with tons of TVs all around. Best part of this place: TATER TOTS. YES SO GOOD. Loved it. Will go back just for the tots.

Owner was drunk at noon and grabbed my friend after she moved chairs at the bar. When confronted, he slurred together what I understood as "you need to leave." Not a single bartender or security looked like they could stand the guy, and its too bad because it's a nice place. Ended up being kicked out after listening to the drunken owner's sob story. That guy needs some serious help.

Horrible service. The waiter asked me to say "please" when I asked for tap water and anything else that I ordered. He was very misogynistic. I will never go back.

Though I don't drink. I come here with friends when we want to shoot the breeze and just hang out. I must admit that my friends love the drinks here. Me I love their crispy, well cooked fries. Some of the best around! Also can't go wrong with the crispy, crunchy, cheesy mozzarella sticks with that side of nice and hot marinara sauce. So so good! Another gem here is there well cooked, crispy and perfectly sauced buffalo wings, just bite after bite of goodness!!! Well done!!

I this Irish pub, good atmosphere nice and clean bar, authentic Irish waitresses and good food. I often frequent this place for lunch and they are always friendly and timely. It's also the perfect place to stop for a quick drink on your way home as it's conveniently located down the street from Union Square!

Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. We arrived to watch a game and they sat us at four-person table and they told us they might have to move us to a two-person table, which we said was fine. Thirty minutes later they moved us to a different four-person table. Then the owner RUDELY came up to us and said there was a $150 minimum to sit at a four person table, which we were surprised to hear. Our tab would have been much less than this so we asked him why it was suddenly $150 to sit here and why we weren't told this when we first sat down (if you've been here you know you would not spend $150 to go here). The owner then proceeded to yell at us screaming we were cheap b****** and that he would beat our c*** a** if we didn't leave right now. I have never seen anything like this happened at a restaurant and don't recommend anyone to go there.

Only hung out in the Home-made outside booths but had a blast !!! Waiter/Waitresses & Bus Guy were awesome and kept the food and drinks coming !!!

Trionas is what you would expect for an Irish pub in this area of the city. Good selection of beer and other drinks, full bar with bar stools and some high top tables in the back. Ideal spot to come to watch a football game with some friends, eat some wings and drink some beer. Waiter was super friendly and very accommodating with our large order of wings. I would come back if I was in the area!

Always good to find a bar that puts out quality bar food. Triona's is a cool sport bar in the flatiron/Gramercy area. There are lots of tv's scattered around and plenty of seating for either small groups or just a few people. I thought the waitress (I forget her name) was awesome. She gave strong recommendations for certain dishes pending what we each liked and steered us away from things that she felt wouldn't satisfy us at that time of day. With that being said, we shared an order of wings and I got an order of fish and chips. The fish and chips were unexpectedly delicious. With the exception of a few places in London, this was definitely up there with some of the best versions of this dish I've had. Fish was battered and fried almost perfectly and the fish was juicy and seasoned well. Fries were also better than most bar fries. The wings however, were meh... Not bad, but not too great either. I could have done without them. Those fish and chips though? Excellent. I can definitely see myself coming here and trying a few more things on the menu... Especially when there are major sporting events... This is definitely an ideal place to come enjoy some beers and eat some good bar food.

This place is an amazing place to come to watch soccer and other games. It is big, well decorated, clean, and it has plenty of big screen tv's. Also, it will show you any major playing game in all the available screens when the event is big such as the Euros. The service is excellent and the food is great. Definitely worth it!

This is a fun place in Gramercy to watch live sports. Plenty of TVs, with a loud and energetic environment during game day. I had the nachos which were quite delicious. Drinks are reasonably priced for Manhattan.

The female server (on a Friday night) has the worst service and attitude. Ordered a few gin shots the first time, she gave us well (or thats what it tasted like), but ok that's my fault I didn't specify Bombay. My partner took my shot for me. Second time around, I specifically asked for Bombay gin this time. Shots came and AGAIN it was NOT Bombay. I've been a bartender at multiple places and have been drinking Bombay religiously for years. For reference, that's mainly the only brand of liquor I drink since I have bad hangovers to other brands/liquor types. I can confidently says I KNOW what Bombay tastes like since I drink it almost every day. We thought she made a mistake and third time around, asked her again to please get a round of Bombay and not other gin. She gave us so much attitude and said "well I literally saw him pour it out of the bottle but okay." Mind you, we didn't ask her to switch them out or take them back, we were more than willing to pay for them even if they were wrong and asked politely just to get us a third round of Bombay. I've worked hospitality and I have never spoke to a customer like that, I at least respond with something like "I'm sorry about that, let me make sure with the bartender." She gave us attitude without an apology or anything, said nothing more and just left. The charge for well and top shelf liquor is different, but that wasn't even the problem here. Finally came back out a third time and again with sass, told us "I watched him pour it out, it's Bombay." We sat outside so we couldn't see the bar or the bartender. I smelled it, and knew immediately again it WASN'T. As a low key alcoholic, I literally had mini shot bottles on Bombay and a flask full of Bombay in my purse and took it out. I asked my partner and his coworkers to compare the smell and even a non gin drinker could smell the difference. It was NOT the same smell nor was it Bombay. Was it gin, yes, but I literally have a shot bottle of it with me and it doesn't taste or smell the same. So if she wasn't lying and the bartender did pour it out of the bottle, then she basically just incriminated this place and confirmed they sell fake liquor or switch out well or cheaper liquor into the actual bottle. If they can do this with Bombay, imagine more expensive bottles like glenfiddich or 1942. A lot of places in nyc are sketch, but there's no point of paying for shitty liquor when there's bars all over in the same area.

Bad place to be a woman. Was trying to enjoy a NFL Sunday 1pm game with friends and it was decently filled and was told if we could find a seat we could bring it up to the bar....well I did and when the owner saw me he grabbed my arm from behind to turn me around to yell at me that it wasn't allowed. My friend asked if that was necessary and he immediately kicked us out. For asking if it was necessary for him to grab me. Very unreasonable for someone in the hospitality business. Don't grab women.

Decided to check this place out despite being proclaimed "Bears Country" and I'm a GIANTS fan but it's a typical bar, TV, darts, and a very nice Irish lady who took care of the bar. She was friendly and nice to talk to. $4. Happy hour beers and went with the wings which were spot on. Good flavor and good sized wings made a great companion with my beer during happy hour. Good enough to make the trip back and I'll wear my Eli Manning jersey this time....

Four girlfriends from four states on an annual retreat, needing a quick bite to eat. We decided to stop for some drinks and small plates. We ordered calamari, two salads, fried pickles. All tasty and made fresh! Loved our server Niamh (pronounced Neeve) with her Irish lilt, efficiency and helpful advice about catching the staten island ferry. Happy hour prices reasonable ($4 beers, $6 wines).

Friendly staff and good buffalo wings! I liked the atmosphere, but the nachos and fish and chips were a little Meh, it was still enjoyable. The fires were good though!

Good sports bar with a ton of TVs, but unfortunately I botched my order and got two horrible items. 1) My fries were soggy when the waiter brought them over. 2) My Mac and Cheese was soupy (see my picture for proof). Also, I wanted to bang my head against the wall the entire time because of all the embarrassing electro house mashups. You would think we were in Murray Hill or something... Change the tunes ASAP!

Great bar in the LES. Went here over the holidays for a work alumni gathering. We had our own area in the bar reserved on high top tables at no additional cost. The staff was really accommodating and the happy hour prices went until 8 or 9. $8 dollar titos and soda and $5 dollar draft beers - cant be beat! Probably not a win for the bar but it never got over shoulder to shoulder crowded. i.e. we were all able to chat and hang out. All of the apps were really tasty. Only a short avenue to multiple trains - definitely swing by.

Your typical NYC sports bar. I've always had a good time here. Meet up with friends after work for happy hour or start the night here if you're bar hopping. Either way, you'll enjoy this no frills bar. It gets pretty crowded late at night or on special game days because the place is narrow, so if you can't tolerate people in your personal space, then this place may not be for you.

Went here early on a weekday for some hair of the dog and hopefully an Irish Breakfast. They didn't have that, but the chef was kind enough to make me some over-easy eggs accompanied by some delicious toast (the bread was fabulous -- made us want to take-out a BLT sandwich but we weren't going home). This order was totally off-menu yet they accommodated my humble request. Also, importantly, they charged only $6 for my breakfast -- and their pricing model has apps starting at $8 (still a great value) -- so bless 'em! I have *never* in my life paid anything less than $10 (and usually a hundred more) for special, off-menu orders in restaurants. I agree with our fellow customers, the tater tots are to die for. Best buddy had a Cobb salad. A great value and chock full of fresh ingredients -- served in good measure. And it wasn't all chopped up as so many places do. The bacon was thick-cut style and freshly cooked; eggs merely halved; avocado in fresh, bright-colored hunks. The dressing was delicious and not overpowering. Blue cheese was good -- and placed on the side as requested. Drinks were generous in measure and priced right -- even for NYC. The service couldn't have been better nor friendlier. The woman was incredible -- even overheard me talking about a Bloody Mary but it didn't look as if it would be too easy for her to make one -- and she insisted on making one. She did it from scratch and it was just wonderful. As she worked we bantered about what our plans were in the City, how we liked our accommodations -- and even about her two-year-old daughter, the love of her life! We felt as if we were long-time regulars and we'd never set foot in the place. On the way out, we noticed on our check that our server was "triona." And we asked -- indeed we were served by the owner's wife, after which their two restaurants are named. Kudos for hard work! Go here -- eat here -- it's a great bet. They may not root for your team, but it's comfortable enough and a great value.

This place seems to have a bit of an identity crisis... It's not sure if it wants to be a homey "Irish" bar, or an upscale gastropub. Not a bad bar if you don't mind paying eight dollars a glass for Yellowtail after happy hour. The sulfites in that swill will get you dizzy before you even feel drunk! The $12 beet and orange salad is OK. But that price doesn't get you any protein, and that's about the only semi-healthy thing they offer to eat. Tuesday night trivia is alright. Other pros are that the venue is clean and roomy overall, so it's certainly not a dive bar like Crocodile Lounge and others in the ads. However, for the prices they charge, they could pour something better than $12/liter fortified grape must.

Great sports bar with TVs on every wall. Wide selection of beer and decent bar food (I.e., tater tots, nachos). Overall good every and enough space to fit a large group! I would definitely go back to watch another game.

Quickly becoming one of my go-to bars. I didn't even know this place existed until I was walking home from the Kips Bay AMC and saw a huge crowd inside, watching hockey. I find myself coming here to watch games more often, simply because the space is huge and there's always something to do (darts, billiards, etc.) The crowd is a pretty perfect combination of diverse clientele, which melds the frattiness of Murray Hill, with the hipster-ness of East Village/Alphabet City. Pretty much my perfect crowd. The crowd itself also is usually pretty comfortable every time I've been here, and you'll never find yourself aching for space. They have a ton of TV screens and abundant drink specials from day to day. Bartenders are super friendly and are very quick to get you your drink. The food here is your standard bar fare, but definitely executed very well. I definitely recommend the buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and nachos. Beer selection is pretty diverse, and I'm a fan of the $4 Yuenglings. Can't go wrong with that. Come here to watch games, or for a good happy hour/pregame.

I met a friend here for a Sunday afternoon sports viewing day. He was here early with his girlfriend to watch Arsenal's last game of the season and I was interested in watching Game 2 of the Rangers-Bruins series (an awful game!). Hockey and Soccer are far from two of the most popular sports in the US and often it is hard to find a bar that has one or the other on, let alone both! There are plenty of beers on tap to choose from (which was exactly the drinking mood I was in). They even have Strongbow on tap which is a great cider to enjoy during an early morning soccer (football if I may) game so you don't feel like a complete degenerate drinking beer that early on a Sunday. They actually have an entire chalkboard on the back wall with a list of all the beers they are currently carrying on tap (which I did not notice until my third beer as I was just looking at the different tap handles down the bar). I also noticed quite a few Chicago sports teams plastered all over the bar walls so if you are a Chicago transplant or visiting from Chicago this would be a bar to seek out.

Three/year update: Triona's is still kicking and then some. This Triona's is less than a year old, but it's fitting into the neighborhood as if it's been around for ages. Great contemporary sports bar and pub -- a dozen big flat screens ablaze with several games, but you can request other games that aren't on whether football, baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, you name it. Great pub food, including fish tacos that you can't help but love since they're both packed with a large slice of seasoned Cod. There are also man-sized hamburgers, zesty chicken wings, delectable hummus, and a nicely cooked filet of salmon atop a tasty tureen of couscous. Specials include homemade soups and dishes of the day. Best of all, next to the fairly priced beer and cocktails, is the pleasant crowd, mostly 20 and 30 somethings, but with a nice mix of older folks. Great attentive barkeeps almost never fail to guess when you're ready for another. Plenty of tables and chairs and a nice back space for a few games of competitive darts. Tuesdays are trivia nights. If you want to hang alone or with friends, this is the place to go. On Third Ave. between 17th and 18th Streets. There used to be a joint in the space called Stills, which was horrible. Triona's is the direct opposite. I should know. I've lived in the area for 30 plus years. I've seen them all and this is a good one.
