My friends and I had a ladies night recently, and attended a rave night at the Triple Nickel Pub and had an amazing time! The crowd was incredibly friendly and energetic, with everyone vibing and dancing together. The atmosphere was electric, and we loved the eclectic mix of people. However, our experience was slightly marred by the bartenders, who seemed a bit overworked and gruff. When we asked for service, they appeared annoyed, and one even let out a noticeable sigh when asked for a to-go box. Not the best customer service experience. The women's restroom was an... interesting experience. It's quite dark and hard to see once you shut the stall door, making it tricky to find essentials like toilet paper. On the plus side, the pub had a fun photo booth with printed photos, and they offered some great games, including free mega Jenga and connect four. The rave energy was infectious, and we had a blast. Overall, I would recommend the Triple Nickel Pub for its unique atmosphere and events, but perhaps with some improvements to customer service, it could be an even better experience.

We stopped here after walking through the park and what a delight. It’s a very diverse bar. They have great pores they have food. They have everything that you’re looking for for a fun night out.

Tammy McCray

Google
Beautiful bar and fantastic staff. They have the best liquor selection in town, particularly tequila and whiskey. Their food is so well made... I love the hummus plate, nachos and burgers. Their fries are spectacular too...hand cut and perfect!

Google
Be careful at this place. The bartenders are extremely dishonest people and will add extra charges to your bill later on in the night without you knowing. Wouldn’t be surprised if management was in on it, as they never did anything to address the issue. There are so many better bars in the area. Don’t even give this place the time of day.

Google
I had an incredibly frustrating experience at this bar. Random customers were allowed to charge drinks to my open tab, and I had no idea who they were. To make matters worse, the bartender offered me Jell-O shots, which I initially declined until he told me they were free, only to charge me for them later! When I spoke to the owner about the situation, he completely brushed it off and told me I was out of luck, claiming it didn’t count as being overcharged. Even more absurd, when the owner spoke to the bartender, he claimed that I ordered all of the drinks, which is absolutely untrue. My initial $18 tab turned into a $64 tab without my permission or knowledge. This place is incredibly unprofessional, lacks accountability, and doesn't care about its customers. I will never be returning.

Google
Wanted a place to chill with a few of my friends the night before one of our buddies married. Found this place online and it was just what we were looking for. Somewhere chill with good service good music and a pool table. There were only a handful of people that came and went the time we were there. It was a cool spot , nice and laid back vibe . Glad we stopped and checked it out.

Google
Had a great time! It wasn't overly crowded and the DJ caught our vibe immediately and started playing early 2000s music. We drank, we danced, it was super fun.

Google
Really bad experience here with a particular bartender specifically with a younger male bartender at this bar, unfortunately he has quite an attitude problem. I do not know if I am the one to experience issues with this specific bartender but I do not recommend this place until they replace him.

Yelp
Nice little dive bar with friendly staff and owner. The bourbon and whiskey selection is out of this world.
google avatar

Kelsie D.

Yelp
Walked in and had to turn around and walk out. It smelled like mold mixed with sewage. It was bad and so offputting. Not sure what was going on but didn't want to stick around and have any food or drinks. No thank you!

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and service- a gem. So happy to have discovered this place - even in my glory days

Yelp
It is a cool place that has both backyard patio and seating in front outside seating options. The interior is spacious, and they have added some more games inside since I last came here. The burger here is ok, but their spirits selection is excellent. The bartender is also super nice and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect neighborhood dive bar! There's giant jenga, giant connect 4, skee ball and pool! Drinks were poured well, lots of options, bartender was awesome, and there was lots of seating options depending on the size of your party. Tables out front painted rainbow you can have your smoke and your drink out there. Went here for a drag show and was really impressed with how quick the bartender Kyle was with the line, and was still friendly and knowledgeable all while slinging out cocktails and beers for everyone. I will definitely come back!

Yelp
I LOVE this place! I assure you ahh reviews saying they had something wrong with any staff members here where jerks first and the staff just didn't bend to their will. Sadly, too many people in Portland (or the world maybe) think they can be rude to staff and just get away with it. But here is no bullsh*t. However if you're just a normal person they are all SO SWEET. They are kind and funny and very good at their jobs. Even the owner is funny and kind! If you're looking for a safe space that's fun, this is it. It's considered a "dive" but it's not. Very clean, very bitch huge patio, lots of drinking options, games, no lottery, karaoke, shows, the works! One of the best spots in Portland.

Yelp
I haven't been to the Triple Nicke in years. Stopped by on a Sunday early afternoon. The bar is typical dive bar, dark and a little grimy. The service was excellent and friendly. The Cowboygirl burger came out within 10 minutes hot and steamy. The house made burger patty was topped with homemade Jim beam baked beans and fresh onions. No cheese it was delicious and didn't need it. Great experience we will be back.

Hex R.

Yelp
The modern version of TTN deserves the slow death its staff and patrons are earning it, sadly.

Yelp
I thought that this place was frequented and supported by respectful patrons. My fiancé and I went here on Friday night to have their burger for burger week and we wanted to show our friends our local neighborhood bar. The people that were there came off rude AF, and tried to shame us based on our sexuality--- think of frat boys from the boonies coming to a city and not experiencing different ethnicities and sexual differences.
google avatar

Yelp
I've lived by this bar for a few months now but never stopped in. Finally walked in to try it last night (on a Wednesday) after a show with my girlfriends. We just wanted tots/ fries after a night out, and when the bartender asked us for our ID's, we of course obliged. One of my friends forgot her ID, which of course is not the bartenders fault, but he was SO awful and rude about it. He has ZERO rizz and zero people skills. Very incel vibes. I have absolutely no incentive to ever come back come to this place again-- especially since WAY better dives are down the street!

Casey C.

Yelp
Great spot to choose from a variety of spirits and lots of beers taps. Great food ! I love the chicken quesadilla and burgers. The homemade salsa served with the quesadilla is great ! Lots of entertainment. Pool tables & ski ball to pass the time. The outdoor patio is nice to get some fresh air as well.

Yelp
Love this place!! Excellent, fresh, creative food. Salads, burgers, chili. Yummy food that pairs well with menu selections.
google avatar

Brittany J.

Yelp
this place is a solid three, maybe four stars & only because they have the best draft list of any dives in Portland(so I'm giving it four stars) Service is kind, although nothing spectacular but it's a dive, you don't come for the service. They have a big projecter they play the games on which is great. Food is meh, definitely not going out of my way to eat here, but the nachos are good and a huge portion. Overall a fine place if you're looking for a place to drink & watch a game/play some pool or something of that sort.

Yelp
Great beer selection BUT... I asked twice if the pints were 16 oz. The beer menu on the flat screens says 16 oz. so I ordered a Barley Brown and it went fast. Next beer was a 16 oz. tall boy and low and behold, filled to the brim the Van was still 1/4 full. The owner was at the bar when I cashed out and I asked him if they were 16 oz. pints and HE said they were. I informed him that they were 13.5 oz. and they needed to change their beer menu boards if they were going to serve Cheater pints.

Sophia C.

Yelp
Disgusted by the bartenders behavior and the way he spoke to me. I did not expect to be publicly humiliated by him yelling and laughing at me for simply not realizing i forgot my ID at home until he asked to see it. I turned around and walked out so fast with nothing to say but F*** HIM AND THE ESTABLISHMENT THAT KEEPS HIM EMPLOYED.

Yelp
Great spot for playing pool or darts. They have three pool tables and they are all well maintained. The darts have been moved from the back wall to a side wall, and there are only two boards now. These are real boards with metal tipped darts. They do have an old plastic tip machine near the back patio as well, if that's you're thing. The beer selection here is top notch! They have a ton of taps to choose from and I am always able to find a few things I really like. They've got a decent bottled selection as well if you prefer. Food here had never disappointed me, but to be fair I've usually had 3 or 4 beers by the time I order it. I agree a burger here for burger week while not drinking however and it was amazing and juicy. They also have a bunch of events going on. Dancing, trivia, themed nights, and parties help it to never feel like the same experience twice. I've been coming to this place for years and I don't see myself doing any time soon. Hopefully I'll see you there!

Yelp
----- Burger Week 2017 Review ----- 5th burger of the week: "Dry" This was severely disappointing. From the pictures from the Burger week site, I was really looking forward to this mac n cheese burger, but in reality it ended up being very dry, both the burger, the mac, and the bun (which was all that was on the burger). There was nothing but carbs, cheese, and meat on this; normally that probably wouldn't have been an issue, but the burger was overcooked, the mac n cheese was dry, and with the bun it was just very poor quality. Hopefully this is not representative of their normal quality, or other items.

Yelp
Definitely a locals pub. Came here on a Saturday night, and it was popping. Super crowded. My friends and I came here to play pool, since they have many pool tables. Beer selection is decent. It's not a super clean place and has a divey feel.
google avatar

Sonja A.

Yelp
Awesome bar. The current owner, who took over about 10 years ago, has really improved what was a solid dive bar into a really nice place with a fantastic tap list and great selection of spirits. Back patio is particularly charming.
google avatar

Brandee C.

Yelp
Love the chill vibe. Staff is eager to please and the food is tasty! Get the fried pickles, quesadilla, and Mac n cheese! Well curated drink menu on screens. Perfect for gathering friends and having a great day. Huge TV!
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
Specific a burger week 18 review, and it was very good! The great peanut butter slaw on a burger kept it sweet with the salty and being it was slaw and not just a blob of peanut butter, it was thinner and not chewy. You got the flavor without your mouth getting stuck together. A very good beer selection, wide variety, and drinks for any taste. As well as a bottle selection for even more options.

Yelp
This is a great pub. My fav. Food is deelish. However today i was tood by the bartender its only me and im only making this small menu. Which means they knew an advance it was gonna be her they didn't just have a call out and that put a damper on the food that we were all going to order also what kind of managers don't come in and work for their people to ensure a great night very disappointed in this visit so I'll take me in the six people that were with me down the road somewhere else maybe you guys can fix that because he does not come to this bar anymore it's awesome TVs music games I love it and the food was always a clincher

Yelp
The Mediterranean plate was amazing. The food here is actually pretty great you have to try it. Great staff, great place , great time, thank you

Yelp
First time here and loved it! Had 4 pool tables, 2 dart boards, huge Janga, pinball machines, photo booth and a DJ. The drink prices were normal. Looks like they do have specials, and they do a lot of fun specials too like trivia, sexy bingo, and other stuff! I love when places make it fun and spice it up, makes people want to come back. My favorite was the photo booth, they were old time photos black and white printed out in couple minutes and it was great. You'll have to see for yourself. The pool tables were in good condition, with pretty good space in between the other tables. Customer service was great, workers going through grabbing empty glasses constantly and wiping down tables. Always nice to see a bar that's being kept clean! DJ was good, music was fun and overall a good atmosphere:) highly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
I'll start by saying I've always enjoyed the manager and bartender's service and the fried food and drinks are great. The atmosphere is a bit dingy but the bar and patio area are decent spots. I have always been able to catch the blazers here. And one whole star just for the tachos, I love them. Issue 1: I am a neighbor of the bar and am regularly woken up by patrons screaming profanities on the side street in the middle of the night. Can't really blame a bar too much for that, it's just annoying and a reminder to the 2 AM screamers: this is a neighborhood bar ya'll. Issue 2: I accidentally walked into a private party once and was confronted by the owner who was convinced I was crashing the party and would not hear otherwise. I left right away, but seriously, don't leave a door open without a note if you don't want people coming inside. That encounter was a real downer. Know that if you go here you're giving your business to a pretty stuck up dude.

Yelp
The skin-on french fries are REALLY good. Lots of pub games. Video games, pinball, darts, billiards. Pretty standard simple bar food and drink. Something for everyone. Staff is really kind. Place is clean and welcoming. Event stage looks like it'd be awesome. Wasn't in use when we happened to be here.
google avatar

Susie Q.

Yelp
First time trying this place, got there before 10pm looking for a bite. Ordered fries, wings and mac n cheese... no one ordered food before us yet it took over 30 minutes for the wings & mac... the fries took even longer. Wow. Also, when tipping the bartender was met with a grab of the cash with no thank you. If it had been busy, we would have been understood but not the case. The fries were awesome so there is there 2 stars.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
Wow! The sweet and spicy mac is to die for! It leans on the very-spicy side, and my lips were on fire, but it was deeeee-lish!! If you can handle Sriracha sauce or Taco Bell fire sauce, it's all good. The spicy tots aren't quite as firey, but uber tasty as well. This is clearly a local dive bar - one every neighborhood needs. The kind where the wait staff doesn't have Hipster "You can wait" attitudes. I was here for a friend's surprise birthday party and the location was chosen because its her favorite hangout. The food, drinks and service is what kept me there. They have pool tables for the person who can't sit still, as well as pinball machines. The loud crashing noises comes from the gigantic Jenga pieces and players not "Winning". I'm not a bar fly but would definitely go back for the food.
google avatar

Yelp
Right away we were informed that there are no sides to go with the burger. So we got Bloody Mary's and they were not good. We didn't think it could get any worse but then we got our burger. Not quality meat, stale bun, terrible mac and cheese. And the servers were rude. I don't normally give bad reviews but this was noteworthy.
google avatar

Yelp
Went in there with $6.60 on my bank acct until the next day (payday) and surprise the cider is $6 and surprise, there's a dollar surcharge on credit cards (which they didn't bother mentioning). Otherwise seemed like an ok spot, but surprise charges at a BAR in this day and age? No thanks. (bartender was nice enough to waive the service charge so I'll at least probably go back at some point)

Yelp
How many colors is the Triple Nickel? It's like asking how many jelly beans are in the jar. The easy answer would be two, two awful shades of blue. However, the triple nickel has a rainbow of other colors. The black from the mildew, green from the moss, various shades of cover up paint. The same guessing game can be played with the carpet once you get inside. Going to the Triple Nickel is sort of a conundrum. If your too sober, the scene here is all to sobering. On the other side of the coin, if you're too drunk this place begs the question " Holy shit, this is not my beautiful life..how did did I get here? ". I'm not sure what the proper amount of drinks is to feel comfortable, or if that even exists. Some redeeming qualities are free pool on Sundays, Giant Janga, and Pinball. In short the Triple Nickel is a dive bar, among dive bars.
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
We came here pretty early on a Saturday night, there were already some people shooting pool and playing darts. Bar service was very fast and they had tons of options (especially the craft beers). Drinks were very affordable and they do have the options to start tabs. We started off with playing giant jenga, then darts, and then ended with shooting pool. It's $0.75/game in quarters, not bad! We also tried the photobooth, but it took our $4.44 and never printed our photos...hopefully they fix the machine. The DJ arrived and they closed off the darts area for the dance floor...more people started coming in but by then we decided to leave.

Yelp
Nickel! Nickel! Nickel! Many, many years ago I lived in the Hawthorne District. Some of my daily walks would take me by the Triple Nickel, always with a twinge of curiosity as I tried to peer into the open door on sunny days. I wondered, what kinds of scurrilous, scallywags were lurking inside? Thanks to the Barfly New Year's Eve party bus tour, my years of yearning for an answer to this nagging question were assuaged. As it turns out, I am the type of scandalous folk that occupies divey bars late at night and even at 7AM some mornings. Besides dandy, robust drinks, some of my fellow merrymakers amused themselves with a GIANT SIZED Jenga game. Really, it was huge. I know they have a Happy Hour but it is not posted online and I don't remember what I read. This pub is quite out of my domain and quite frankly, it is just another dive bar to me. Now that I have finally seen the beyond the doors that held such mystery for me years ago, I am no longer under its spell and thus it is doubtful I will be making a pilgrimage to the Triple Nickel: well, not unless Barfly or some kind Samaritan drives me there. I shall remember you fondly Nickel! Nickel! Nickel! 2014 - Review # 4
google avatar

Yelp
I came here to play giant Jenga. The bar has an impressive selection of booze, (namely vodka, I'm always impressed with a varied vodka selection). Lackluster screwdriver came with a lime wedge, which was weird. I went back for Absolut Mandarin to wash out the taste of competing citrus. Pool costs .75 cents per game; there are four tables, and a lot of pool cues. Live DJ plays loud music accompanied by videos projected on a large screen. Will I return? - Yes, mostly for giant Jenga though.

Yelp
Out for a Saturday night, invited to come listen to friends presenting music on open mic night. All went well.... opened a tab and had a couple of drinks. Around 7:15, a very obnoxious male, presumably the owner, came around and shouted at patrons, "if your not drinking, or eating food, get out". He did not ask us if we had had any drinks, nor did he present a menu for us to order food. The wait staff was polite, and asked if we wanted more to drink, but they as well did not offer us a menu nor did they suggest any special or "bar" favorite.

Yelp
Meatball sub and a great selection of beer. It's a great way to start if you end up here. From the outside one would expect the Triple Nickel to be a dive bar. It's a wonder I never went in. I like a good dive bar, especially with good, cheap beer. From what I know, they have a great happy hour and it starts pretty early. Once you walk in, it's a different story. Large spacious place with pool tables and giant Jenga and a couple of slightly outdated pinball machines (CSI anyone? ) The two bartenders were super friendly and were decent on beer recommendations. They have a great selection of drafts (at least 30-40, but who's counting) They also have a good bottle selection. Great whiskeys and even moonshine drinks. We had a special menu with nachos, meatball subs, tacos and a few other menu items and the earlier mentioned meatball sub was my choice. I figured simple bar food and it wasn't going to be high expectations. I was wrong. The sub was smaller that I'd like (roughly the size of a small Subway sub) but DANG was it good. The meatballs, the mozzarella and the chunky tomato sauce!! That sauce had big chunks of tomato and lots of great herbs in it. There were three meatballs, average size but also packed with herbs and flavor. Really great and lots of stretchy, stretchy cheese to make you happy. I wanted another but couldn't bring myself to do it. I did not look at their regular menu, but if the meatball sub was the tip of the iceberg, then I'm sure there's more great options to be had. Enjoy.

Yelp
This bar seemed chill at first, however every time I've been here the second drink I order always comes with a lemon instead of a lime as it is supposed to have. Recently I ordered a mule and it came with a lemon, I tried to drink it but when I return to the bar to ask for some limes to put in my drink the bartender antagonized me and then came to my table and asked if I had enough limes in a snide tone, among the whole seating area, rather than asking if everything was good as they (sometimes) do. I also find that this bar is extremely unsanitary and very dangerous during Covid! Would not recommend and probably won't return.

Jerry Y.

Yelp
I came here for Portland Burger Week and ordered 1 burger and 3 shots of Hennessy. (The bartender asked for the 3 IDs taking the shots and so I gathered the two others to show the ID.) We took our shots and then waited for our one burger. (We've had many burgers today due to burger week) Someone other than the bartender then came up and gave us 3 burgers. I told her I only order one burger. She said, "no I saw you order 3 burgers." So she's calling me a liar and did she even take my order? No. So I'm like, "fine whatever. Can I get to go boxes?" She says "no." Good way to run a business. Do not recommend.. bad service.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Mostly cool. Lots of great beers. Decent bar food. Lots of TVs. Great jukebox. But.... The WHOLE PLACE smells like a deep fryer!!! What a shame
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
I am giving this a solid two stars for giving us somewhere to stand in a line during burger week. No wait staff around and a 20-30 person line that didn't move in the 10minutes we were there. Bailed and ate elsewhere. My brother-in-law actually went back and tried the mac/bacon burger. He said it was mediocre and was missing the bacon. :P I'll update the review if/when we decide to give this place another try.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
I didn't stay for a drink so it wouldn't be fair to give less stars. I walked in to have a drink and the only good seat at the bar had a pile of glasses in front of it. The bar tender looked at me without greeting me and without noticing the glasses. I asked is someone sitting here? She replied with "Nope, there's just a pile of glasses". She slowly started cleaning them off, still didn't look at me or speak to me, so I got up and left. I guess it would be a better if you were with a group, but it didn't feel like a great place to go solo.
google avatar

Bee M.

Yelp
We went up to the Triple Nickel Pub for Burger Week. We ordered the burgers, and although we were concerned that they have not cooked food in that place in a really long time, the burgers came out tasting really great. They also had a lot of beer to choose from. A lot of 80s hair band music that was enjoyable. The bar itself is completely falling apart. But at least the food and the beer was good

Brenda J.

Yelp
Was in town for the weekend and decided to stop by this bar, came in with a group of 5 people and were having a few drinks and some of our group were playing pool then the owner walks up to them and tells them that they have a minimum of 2 drinks per person (no signs where they stated this) and we explained that the guy who wasn't drinking was the DD he said that's how they run business nothing personal hmm will NEVER return and be sure to spread the word. Worst Portland experience!
google avatar

Leandrea R.

Yelp
The drinks are good and food looks delicious! And thank you for playing hip hop, r&b and rap! I'm so sick of techno/weird house music. I have rythem and it's nice to dance to something I can sing along with that has an actual beat! I can fist pump sometimes but it's nice to away from the "keep Portland weird" music and dance to some thing else. Ps..with all that being said, as a true Oregonian born and raised I have to say there's nowhere like pdx!
google avatar

Ashlan G.

Yelp
This place has changed a lot in the last few years, went through a remodel and a change in the people who frequent the location (no longer a total dive). Much to my disappointment during my last visit they had gotten rid of their well worn and well loved giant jenga set - making it a lot harder to pull pieces out. The beer and cider selection is expanded and the specialty cocktails are good. Grab a jello shot, shoot some pool, play some pinball, and enjoy the fun at this place, but it's definitely not a local hang any longer. Great for groups and birthday parties, limited food menu, cheap drinks.
google avatar

Sebastian K.

Yelp
This place definitely stands out in Portland. It's a place you would find in a small college town or the suburbs of Southern California or New Jersey. Considering there are far better and less douchey bars in Portland, I will pass on this place in the future. But wait, you retort, "They have giant Jenga!". Yawn. "They have a great dance floor and music videos!" If you like overplayed hits from yesteryear like "Thrift Shop" and "Blurred Lines" then perhaps it's great. "They have pool tables!" Yes they do indeed. But only if you like bumping into drunk, overly tanned women and their frat boy toys. Their beer selection was pretty decent admittedly but everything about this place sucks. I imagine this place was once cool, but I was let down during my last visit. In a town like Portland with countless great bars, it would be pointless to visit this place.
google avatar

Aaron A.

Yelp
Horrible service, and even more horrible hospitality. With so many bars and places to visit in Portland, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere different.
google avatar

Charlee M.

Yelp
One of my favorite cheap pubs. A large selection of beers on draft, they even have cider on draft which can be hard to come by. A dance floor and many pool tables are located indoors, with a nice seating area outdoors.

Michael S.

Yelp
Great starting spot for the night IMO. a bit tight on busy nights and I could do without the Jenga, at least where it's located. Haha‍ Great staff though. Bouncers always super friendly and accommodating
