Why Trixie Mattel Invested in Milwaukee’s Oldest Queer Bar | Eater

"A small, highly themed Palm Springs boutique motel that presents a Barbiecore-Americana getaway in seven rooms, featuring a pink pool and a colorful on-site bar. Conceived as a vacation rental project and developed into a fully branded hospitality venture, it provides larger-than-life, Instagram-ready themed rooms and has been the basis for an HBO reality series that hosted celebrity guests, turning the property into a pop-culture destination despite its modest size." - Dan Clapson

17 Glam Boutique Hotels in Palm Springs, From Spanish Revival Villas to Historic Escapes for Hollywood Stars

"Leave it to iconic drag queen Trixie Mattel (and the man behind her, Brian Firkus) to dream up the most delightfully campy boutique hotel in Palm Springs. Rather than go for cookie-cutter midcentury style, Mattel and her partner, David Silver, fully embraced '60s camp for the Trixie Motel. The exterior, the lobby lounge, and the pool are all pink everything, while the seven kaleidoscopic guest rooms go all-in on retro themes, from the Pink Flamingo Suite to Atomic Bombshell. There's a small on-site bar and café for guests only, but the public is welcome to shop in the boutique or peek at Trixie's Cactus Garden."

A Review of the Trixie Motel in Palm Springs

"Owned by world-famous drag queen Trixie Mattel, this refurbished mid-century roadside motel in Palm Springs is an over-the-top, camp, Barbie-dream boutique property wrapped in a bubblegum-pink and gilded retro Palm Springs aesthetic. Tucked behind a gold-adorned pink gate with a neon sign, 70s pool floats, Smeg appliances and Mattel’s signature painted eyes, the property is relentlessly Instagrammable and full of photo ops. Designed by Dani Dazey and funded by the Scott brothers, the hotel offers seven individually themed rooms — examples include Queen of Hearts, Atomic Bombshell (which features a vintage shower and vanity, two ball chairs, and coordinating galactic-print sheets, curtains and wallpaper), Flower Power and Yeehaw Cowgirl — so no two rooms are alike. Guests can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool, inventive cocktails at the bar or poolside, a morning breakfast basket with unlimited drip coffee, free Wi‑Fi, a fridge and complimentary toiletries; rooms start at about $400 per night. Renovations beginning in 2020 were documented on Discovery+, and the team has cultivated strong support from and given back to the LGBTQIA+ community by hosting meetings and events; visitors also praise the friendly staff and the dreamy Old Las Palmas location within walking distance of downtown."

Staying at the Trixie Motel is fabulous! The room decor, unique to each one, is incredibly well put together. Everyday I discovered some new detail in the design that amazed me. Plus it was spotlessly clean! Angel and his crew are so friendly and create a supportive safe place for queer people to be themselves. And it's just fun! I can't think of another hotel/motel like this in the world. Come here and you won't regret it!

When I was a little boy I had the Paradisa Lego sets that had the pink and white umbrellas and I always wanted to be one of the Lego people in those sets. Staying at the Trixie Motel made my dreams come true. Every aspect of my 48 hours at TM deserves 5 stars: - From the second I checked in, the staff was absolutely incredible. Every single person there treated me like a queen; they were kind, funny, patient as hell, and I never had to wait for anything. - The room itself (Yeehaw, Cowgirl!) made me feel like I was living inside a TV show. The lighting was perfect but the air conditioning was heavenly (would be crazy if it wasn't.) - The pool area was immaculate and the pool water itself was like a spa. If you suffer from anxiety, they should prescribe a day pass to the pool. - Finally the Barbara lounge: the vibes were perfect, the service was A+ and the menu deserves a Michelin star, maybe 2 (Cigarette Mom French Onion Dip????) I can't wait for my next stay. And to David, Angel, (and Trixie, if you're reading this): thank you for creating a space where camp meets comfort, where queerness isn't just tolerated but CELEBRATED, and where every mirror reflects back a better, draggier, pinker (?) version of yourself.

Amazing!! We stopped by on our way to Vegas to check out the gift shop, it's STUNNING in person, the staff was kind enough to let us see the pool & bar while there, so pristine it's like standing inside a dollhouse! The gift shop was amazing too, wasn't expecting there to be Trixie Cosmetics in there too, but I was so excited to see such an amazing selection in person! Can't wait to come back, staff was amazing, so sweet and kind 💗💕💖💓💞

What a wonderful experience. From check in to check out the team at Trixie do anything they can to make your stay feel fun and fabulous. It's a small motel, so the service is friendly and personal. You can charge direct to your room for the whole stay and finalise your bill at checkout. No need for constant signing checks and opening tabs with different servers. Tips are all included, and everything is modestly priced. The rooms are gorgeous. Everything is so thoughtful and beautifully presented. Even the amenities in the bathroom are quality. The bed was so comfortable and the pool is incredible. Shout outs to Angel, Bianca and the team for making me feel so welcome. Bar Barbara is great for a snack - but for anything substantial you'll need to go out or order in. Can reccommend the Pizza and Cigarette Mom's French Onion Dip. The cocktails are genuinely awesome. I didn't want to leave. Trixie fans drop in throughout the day and the staff have the space cleverly set up so they can have a look at the pool and lobby while motel guests can relax in the pool without feeling like they're on display! This is 100% a thoughtful and wonderful experience. I will definitely be back!

My fiancée and I loved our stay at the Trixie Motel! Laura and the rest of the staff were so kind and accommodating. We stayed in the Queen of Hearts room, and it was absolutely stunning. The pool and courtyard was a beautiful, pink oasis and we loved the adorable pool floats. The drinks were delicious, and the food was tasty. We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Had a great time! Had been wanting to come here for some time. Laura (Lara) greeted us at the door to let us in, letting us know they had been expecting me and my party. The place is fun, the drinks are delicious, and while there are snacks, they are snacks. Do not come hungry, but do come thirsty! The interior is as expected, adorable with pictures of Trixie and all of her famous friends throughout. Drinks are about $20 each. Make a reservation on OpenTable. We were there right at open (noon) and it was quiet but around 2 when we left, several parties began to show up.

Yelp
I can only speak to the bar experience but it was amazing! The drinks are super tasty and the service here was so friendly which made this a really memorable experience. Food options are limited and really just snacks. We got the chicken tenders and the pita bread which were both good but not out of this world. The design and vibes are totally worth the trip and reservations are very easy to make online. Plus we stopped at the gift shop after which was a great finish! Would love to stay here one day!

Yelp
My review is only for the gift shop/bar area - I did not stay overnight at the motel. I was going to be visiting Palm Springs for one day while on a trip for my 30th birthday and knew I had to stop at the Trixie Motel. I nabbed my group a 4:45 reservation as we wanted to stop in for a drink before our dinner reservations at 5:45. The motel was easy to get to as it's right off the main strip and there was plenty of street parking right outside. We ended up showing up 20 mins early and figured we would see if they would allow us in early. We rang the doorbell and a woman came to open it and greet us and ask if we had a reservation. Once we said yes, she immediately knew my name and greeted us with open arms and mentioned that my glittery pink dress reminded her of one that Trixie wore for pride. She didn't seem to mind at all that we were early and we appreciated that she was also prepared for our reservation by knowing exactly who we were. We were brought initially into the gift shop to have our IDs checked and then brought to our table in the Barbara bar. We had a corner section of the booth area and there was only 2 other groups in the main area and a larger group in the separate room with the velvet curtains. Every group there was super respectful and having a good time. The bartender who took our drink order was just as nice as the woman who got us checked in. I ordered the Trixie Motel and my group got a Flower Power and a Negroni. The drinks were good although not particularly strong in our case. The bartender then came back around and mentioned to each table that they just launched a glittery heart shaped pink Jell-O shot and of course we couldn't resist. The aesthetics of the place are wonderful. It truly feels for a moment like you are stepping into a pink dream. If you watched the show and/or are a fan of Trixie, it is definitely worth a visit. Everyone was so nice and it was so nice to pop in for a cocktail. Before we left we did try to pop back into the gift shop, but it was crowded in there as another group had the same idea. The gift shop is particularly small so it fills up quickly. It was mostly items from Trixie Cosmetics, some reusable tumblers and some shirts. Nothing particularly stood out to me and I didn't get a look at prices. The gift shop could maybe use a few more little trinkets like stickers or keychains, but it's still cute for what it is! Overall a great experience and I am glad we included it in our Palm Springs day.

Yelp
Stayed at the Trixie Motel for my 21st birthday trip. This is an experience I will never ever forget!! We stayed in the Flower Power room and it is even more beautiful in real life. The staff is INCREDIBLE, (special shoutout to Laura (Lara), Shawn, and Drew) they treat all of you like close friends and getting to know them is such a treat! Had an unpleasant experience with a guest and they gave me a blush palette no charge. I will be dreaming about staying here again. Trixie Motel we LOVE you!

Yelp
We only went to the bar for a drink, we didn't stay in a hotel room! The service was amazing! All of the staff were really sweet. MAKE SURE you get a reservation, don't just walk in. Happy vibes, happy tummies!

Yelp
** Review is only for BARbara Lounge! ** If you are a fan of RPDR, of Trixie Mattel, of kitschy places, of freaking PINK, you have to make a stop here. Luckily, you don't need to be a hotel guest to enjoy the atmosphere if you make a reservation at their lounge. All of Trixie Motel is playful, indulgent, and extra in all the right ways-- like, Barbiecore is probably a good way to describe the style. Even some of the drinks are violently pink. The only downside of the bar is the price- like $20 a cocktail! But...you're for sure paying for the vibes. Lying in the lounge chairs for a bit by the pool after felt like quintessential Palm Springs. If you're on the fence about going, let the pictures speak for themselves!

Yelp
Cocktail Hour @ Trixie We made reservations to checkout the Trixie Motel and enjoy a cocktail hour. Notable that it is reservation only. Small bites and cocktails available with seating inside, in the sun room, out in the patio or poolside. Super cute decor to enhance the midcentury vibe of the area. We are Trixie fans so this is a must for us! Did not disappoint

Mickie P.

Yelp
Amazing went to the restaurant and had drinks and Humus. Our bartender made drinks. The food was great. Decorated so great. You will have a great time. You need to make a reservation.

Yelp
What a fun place! I took my wife here as an early birthday present. We stayed in the Malibu Barbara room - it is at the far end of the motel, and on the corner. When you walk inside the room, you are greeted with vibrant colors and high ceilings. The color scheme of the room was amazing, and I loved the color choices. It felt very Malibu, for sure. The service we received here was top-tier. We were greeted with friendly faces, and warm smiles, and felt very welcome. Upon our arrival, we were treated to complimentary drinks! The gals here made sure to let us know about the drinks, the gift shop, and the records that you can take back for your room! Unfortunately, during our stay, their lounge, the BARBARA, was under renovation, so we weren't able to check it out. They made all the drinks in the gift shop/office. The room itself felt very spacious. They told us that this room was bigger than all the other rooms, so we felt very lucky to have chosen this one! We had a tough time sleeping. Just a note for future folks, there is a black-out shade behind the curtains to block out the light that shines in the hallway outside the main window! Also, make sure to push the curtain a little to the left to block out the lights that might creep in on the sides. I am very sensitive to light, so I couldn't quite sleep. Not their fault at all - hence, no stars taken away. The bed was also too soft for us, but we made it work. Also. THE TOWELS. Friends, I swear it's the little things, but after a shower, the towels were so SOFT and it smelled lovely. You know when you're at a big chain hotel, and the towels are stiff and reek of bleach? These towels felt like they were made by the softest cotton ever and smelled like fresh daisies. I don't know what detergent or softener they use, but I literally exclaimed when I wrapped it around me. Like, the towels get 5 stars alone. (We stayed at Margaritaville the night before and those towels were TRASH) Overall, we enjoy our stay! We are already talking about when our next trip will be. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Yelp
*this review is for the gift shop only* My friend and I traveled to see the Trixie motel because we heard about the gift shop inside. The motel itself is adorable! Pink everywhere, super cute pool and love the aesthetic. However, the woman in the gift shop was super unfriendly and couldn't even make small talk with us. The gift shop was a bit tiny, but it was all cute Trixie merch. I will most likely be staying here in the near future, but girl, the customer service was lacking.

Yelp
Words can't describe the experience of Trixie Motel. Whether you're a fan of Drag Race, the TV show about its building, or you just love the color pink, it's worth it. It's a must-see in Palm Springs. It's a very private area with very limited rooms and staff who are devoted to ensuring you have the best possible experience. The food and drinks were absolutely incredible as well. Each room is extremely one of a kind. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
What an experience! We decided to stay for a few days before we all had to Vegas for a work conference. We had been looking forward to our stay for months and decided to match our nails to the rooms that we are staying in. Keep in mind that I didn't really follow the show much, but my friends did. I geeked out and watched on Hulu about the renovations to get even more excited about our stay. The room was adorable and perfect for 1-2 people (the vanity was perfect with the air controlled room and the small touches like each room having a unique scent) . The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we as guests were comfortable during their entire stay while visitors were coming into the gift shop and lounge. It was nice that they didn't allow visitors to take photos while we were in the pool to ensure the our privacy was a priority. The staff provided great recommendations to restaurants and gift shops while we were in town and in Joshua Tree. The only feedback that we had is the option for plus size robes. We are already planning another stay this year to rent out the entire motel. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Fun place in a quiet neighborhood, not far from Main Street. MCM motel that's been totally renovated with each room having its own theme.

Yelp
We landed some reservations for drinks at Barbara's Bar while on a girls trip to Palm Springs and we had the best time! Call ahead to get reservations especially if you have a large party. There is a 2 drink minimum for reservations and boy those drinks were strong so don't underestimate their fluffy, pink appearance! When you get to the Motel, you enter through a gate on the right side. There is a little doorbell to ring and it does take some time for them to answer if they are busy but trust me, it's worth the wait! We were guided through a pink paradise and caught a glimpse of the pool and patio. The bar is beautifully decorated and pretty in pink (even the bathroom). We had the back room to ourselves and had a ball! Great photo ops exist throughout the space and it's a perfect spot for a girls day out. The drink list is extensive and they are all presented beautifully. Next time I'm in Palm Springs I am going to book a room here! Everyone was so kind and helpful and there wasn't a long wait for the drinks and snacks. We were loud and silly and we were still welcomed with open arms!

Yelp
We had a long standing reservation for the bar on a Sunday for a mid day to show our out town guests. Unfortunately, driving from La Quinta, we had to be redirected on the route to Palm Springs to cause us to be 10 mins late. We stood at gate with a ring door bell for a few minutes, waiting for someone to open to let us in. They told me and my guests that the bartender would not allow us in now because we didn't call to let them know we'd be few minutes late. BUT they said we can buy merchandise instead. The gift shop is tiny!! Sorry, we would've bought if we could've just had a drink.

Yelp
Trixie? F&$@ Yah! We love Trixie of RPDR fame. Watched the Trixie Motel series and decided to swing thru in our way from Tempe to LA on our holiday road trip extravaganza... Surprise! Trixie aka Brian was running the front desk and David was there too. Super nice. Chatted us up. Took a gratuitous selfie with us and made us feel welcome. We hung out by the pool with a drink and had lunch. Super fun, unexpected and random and worth the stop. The rooms are incredible. The public spaces are sparkling clean and neat and wildly pink! While we were there, easy 30+ people showed up to enjoy the same sort of experience. It was great. Made us want to book a night soon. If you find yourself in Palm Springs, swing by, ring the doorbell and check it out.

Yelp
Horrible customer service, rude guy disrespectful towards us. Thinks he something special. Guy who opened gate was nice but not the next guy. Don't go here.

Chris S.

Yelp
Girls trip to celebrate birthdays and the fact it's been 4 yrs since we traveled together. Each of us drove over 2 hrs to get to Palm Springs - only to hit a huge dust/sand storm which re-routed us. We were less than 15 minutes late - which wasn't helpful considering the signage is terrible - we had parked in front of the other gate, and had to wait for someone to actually open the gate to let us in. Host told us that we were late and that they would ask bartender if they would serve us. We apologized profusely and explained that we had some troubles getting there, parking and figuring out how to get in. Host walks us back to the gift shop and warns us not to take pictures of the pool. Huh? We weren't even carrying our phones. We get to the gift shop, the bartender walks out, looks us up and down and tells us "you can't stay, we already gave away the reservations." To who? We saw two people leave (which is how we figured out how to get in) and no one else came in! They let us know we can stay for a few minutes in the gift shop and buy merchandise, but can't stay and eat or drink. No thanks, we don't need to stay someplace we obviously aren't welcome. We get that being late is an issue, but it wasn't a busy time (like a Friday or Saturday), we were truly sorry and we have all worked hospitality, so we also know that sometimes, it makes sense to be gracious and kind to customers. We went into town to another bar that seated us immediately (again, it was off hours, not prime time) and we had a fab time. We'll write a review on that one later.

Yelp
My mom is an interior designer so we loved the show, and when she flew out last minute for a visit we decided to book a night. Upon arrival we felt so welcomed by the staff, they were so sweet and personable it was a very fun and friendly environment. Even people who came in for a drink were so friendly, Trixie and David did a great job cultivating a very fun, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We booked the Malibu Barbara room which was so cute and was very clean. The breakfast was cute and the drinks were great! I can't wait to come back and check the other rooms!

Yelp
Swung by on my road trip just to take a picture and buy a small form of memorabilia in the gift-shop. After 7 hours of driving, fully intended to be a vegetable-esk tourist, be in and out in like 2.5 seconds. The staff however were so friendly, informative and just all around a joy to be around, I soon found myself to whisked off to the lounge to fully be engaged in conversation with Nyck the bartender. Having just left Texas after 4 years living there, and freshly stepping back onto California soil, into a gay-drag queen owned business with a diverse amazing staff felt like the best welcome back to my home state that I needed. P.S. only capitalist Barbie, Miss Tracy Martel could commit highway robbery of a 16$ plastic keychain and get away with it.

Yelp
Hey there! Like everyone else I watched the whole Reno series with Trixie and David. I had previously stopped in to buy some merchandise. The next time I was in the area my mom and dad were dying to stop by too. I took them into the gift shop and the super sweet attendant asked us if we wanted to check out the bar after we made our purchase. Needless to say we were tickled well.........pink . The whole space is as stunning the drinks were STRONG and amazing. Someday we will all actually stay We love you Trixie

Yelp
It's a whole Barbie dream house vibe that's so cute. Can't review on staying here but on first impression. We noticed the pink facade from the outside and the cactus garden. Not even knowing that it was the Trixie Motel. We were asked if would like to come in a see the property and check it out. Of course, it was totally cute. It's not a big resort but quaint enough for a good group or a nice relaxing weekend. Decor, pink pink pink. With the pool and the lounges and umbrella. All the floating tube. The bar area with the cool art deco disco vibe. Such a whole new level. Palm Springs living all the way. Everyone that was enjoying their cocktail all was so sweet. The do have a small little gift shop when you walk in. This would be a cute little spot of a birthday or fun weekend out and about.

Yelp
Im a little disappointed. I just came for a drink and food and felt like I was a guest who wasn't wanted.

Yelp
I'd very much like to live here, please and thank you ;) Seriously, though, Trixie Motel exceeded my already very high expectations. I stayed for one night in the Malibu Barbara room, and it was just pure Barbie/drag fantasy. I loved every second! My favorite part was opening the shades in the morning and being soaked in pink-tinted sunlight from all the pink outside. It was truly fabulous! The whole rest of the property--from the gift shop to the pool to the lounge--is just gorgeous, and there are so many cute, fun little details for Trixie fans. I literally could not believe that her Drag Race crown was on display in all its glory! The service was also fantastic! Laura greeted me when I first arrived and gave me the rundown of everything. She was super friendly and helpful as was Shelby the next morning when I checked out. At the bar, Kate was awesome and put together my breakfast basket for me. I even got a note from Angie in housekeeping wishing me a great stay! Their security guard, Andrew, was also super cool :) Overall, I highly recommend staying here and enjoying this unique, drag-tastic experience :)

Yelp
A Birthday gift from friends: a weekend girl's (mama's) trip to Palm Springs. Friends booked a stay here at Trixie Motel about three-months-ago, and the only room available at the time was their honeymoon suite. It was perfect- EVERYTHING was perfect. We spent the days poolside and had the best time. So relaxing...ideal for that sunny, bright, hot weather in the desert. Being early in May, it wasn't too hot out, comfortable high 80's, so it took a few steps-at-a time to get in the pool, but definitely worth it once I adjusted to the water temperature. Continental Breakfast of coffee, juice, croissants in the mornings prepared with such delicate and loving care, and delicious cocktails served outside on their patio, poolside, or in their bar/lounge space. We mingled with other guests in the evening just as we had poolside. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Soft and plush robes offered to guests rooms, a refrigerator available to keep drinks we brought cool. Learned their rooms are all decorated differently. Other guests had multiple evenings during their stay and changed rooms to experience as many of the rooms as they could. What a fun idea! Amazing staff, so welcoming and friendly. They have such wonderful attention to details: from the lemon in their chilled water served to guests at our own leisure, poolside, soft plush robes in the rooms. sugar-rimmed cocktails, fun, lively music poolside, croissants wrapped perfectly in a pink bag so we could take our breakfast to-go when we checked out. Professional and very attentive. The decor is fun, bright, playful and quirky. It's a very cozy space to enjoy and easily make friends with other visitors staying at Trixie's. Staff gave such wonderful recommendations too, on what to do in the area, where to eat. For instance, our first brunch was next door at 1501 and they had the best French toast I've ever tasted, called their bananas foster French toast. Look forward to returning.

Yelp
What can I say other than OMG WOW!!! My wife and I spent our first wedding anniversary here this weekend and it was just incredible. Of course we watched the show and had been wanting to go but I have to say, it was even better than "as seen on TV!" The room (Queen of Hearts) was just beautiful and striking - I don't think we've ever spent so much time enjoying our room on a trip before! The staff here is just incredible, whoever does the hiring is ON IT! Especially in love with the bartender/breakfast preparer/good vibe extraordinaire Christian! He was SO fun to chat with, gave excellent recommendations for activities on and off property, and was just a delight that made our trip 10000x more wonderful! We drove up early and were expecting to go shopping or find something to do until it was our officially check in time, but we were able to get our bags checked, order drinks, slip into swimsuits and lounge by the pool all day until our room was ready! Absolutely amazing check in experience!! Needless to say, we will be back hopefully for longer! Can't wait to stay in the other rooms!

J B.

Yelp
Too far off the beaten path. The stay, the makeshift food and overly sweet cocktails are way overpriced. Pool and deck is tiny. Feels like the design for the place wanted to service Instagram photo backdrops rather than the cumstomer Whom they want to use to finance the pink adventure

Greg B.

Yelp
Summary: They don't seem interested in locals for happy hour. Detail: some friends and I came out for happy hour and found out there was a $40 per person minimum and a mandatory 22% gratuity. The $40 minimum was ridiculous, especially for folks (like me) who don't drink. And apparently the 22% auto-gratuity meant the server wasn't motivated. He rarely checked in on us, and the last drink order never came. The drinks we had were good and the appetizers were simple but tasty.

Yelp
This place is a dream! I only visited and did not stay, as they were booked up. I came on a Friday for "three on the pink" hosted by Paige Matthews, and had the best time! ALL of the performers and staff were SO NICE and made us feel so welcome. We were able to tour the motel and take photos. We look forward to coming back and hopefully staying next time!

Yelp
Such a beautiful space! I appreciated every single detail at the Motel. Palm Springs vibes stamped all over! My friend and I had an amazing experience at the Trixie bar. The bartender was such a sweetheart and all his drink recommendations were fantastic. From the mixes to the presentation--outstanding! Highly recommend if you're visiting Palm Springs.

Yelp
I can only add 5 stars??? Not a million??? Wth?? My wife and I stayed in the Malibu Barbara and literally had the time of our lives. I'm convinced this is the most fun I have ever had in my life. It was clean, quiet, relaxing and the staff are rockstars!! Shoutout Matty, christian, Laura and a couple other cool cats I didn't catch their name. Drinks were fun and delicious! I love this place. I'm seriously fighting the Trixie blues back home. Thank you to everyone for making our experience so special

Yelp
My friend and I went here during Halloween weekend and we had such a great time. The staff here were superb and helped us with whatever we needed. They were super accommodating, which surprised me since they're quite a famous/sought out motel! The motel also had a great merch shop, snack bar, and their signature cocktails we had were great! We spent a lot of time with Matty since he was in charge at night, and I just wanted to give him a shoutout because he was so hospitable and kind to all of the guest. We'll definitely return :)

Yelp
I rarely write reviews but this stay lived up to the full fantasy! I can't say enough about Christian and Drew-two people who clearly adore their jobs and their guests. They were unbelievably welcoming, fun, endlessly patient and kind, and happy to dish on how absolutely wonderful Trixie really is in real life and full of fun stories that made our little hearts sing. They both went over and above to make sure we had everything we could want and need. We had unseasonably cold weather but the pool was nice and warm, the drinks were tasty and the beds were so comfortable. Each room even had its own custom scent story! Our group reserved 4 rooms and they were all just spectacular. The bar was newly renovated and every little corner of the motel was cuter than the last! Even the continental breakfast was charming. The worst moment of the stay was having to check out. It just broke my heart a little. Isn't it nice when you find out your favorite celebrity/mogul is as divine as you hoped?!?

Yelp
Trixie Motel is perfect. I LOVE vintage, themed hotels and they totally pull it off with added glam and revival. Walking through the entrance our whole group gasped when we saw everything. It's so beautifully colorful and the attention to detail is stunning. The pool is the place to be hunny, filled with pink and patterned pool floaties. Plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. The staff is amazing! So charismatic and friendly. Each room has a record player with a record library in the main office you're welcome to. The lounge and bar area is a really fun place to hang, also where you can do breakfast. The location is ideal for Palm Spring's - restaurants and bars are a block away. The price some nights can be a little high but if you love Trixie/drag or even just vintage themed hotels you will love and appreciate Trxie's so much. It's truly a special, gay oasis.

Yelp
This is the ultimate pilgrimage if you a fan of Trixie Mattel. If you watched the show, I have to say it's even better in person. Yes it is expensive to stay here but the experience to me was worth the price tag. I stayed in the Malibu Barbara room and it was much more gorgeous in real life and bigger too! They have a customer drink menu, one cocktail themed after each of the rooms and the Trixie Motel cocktail. They also have a great menu of food which was great because we didn't have to leave the motel at all. The pizza was up there on the list of best pizzas I've ever had. You can buy merch at the office and they do let people not staying at the motel in to buy merch and see the lounge but they're very good about people visiting not interfering with the experience of guests staying there. I want to shoutout the amazing staff! They were soooo friendly and welcoming and took great care of us. There's only 7 rooms total so it's obviously not a huge staff but I really appreciated how nice they were and attentive and I did have an issue come up where a piece of merch I bought didn't make it into my bag and they were super responsive to me and mailed out my missing item. I honestly can't wait to come back again

Yelp
My partner and I visited Trixie Motel and stayed in the Oh Honeymoon suit... and Oh Hoonnneey was it EVERYTHING! The room was incredible, the staff was amazing, and the level of detail that went into each and every piece of this motel was incredible to see. We got to meet and chat with so many amazing people, get to know them, and some even invited us in to see their rooms! We originally booked a 3-night stay, but after our second day we asked to extend another night which they helped us do - and we so don't regret that extra day. the motel is central to amazing eats, drinks, and even ice cream that there isn't much you could want for that isn't within walking distance or a quick Postmates! This boutique experience was so good, we've already booked another few nights in the month of November for Palm Springs Pride - and we're gonna live it up again! If you have the chance - treat yourself to a pink fever dream of amazingness at Trixie Motel.

Yelp
Truly felt so happy & welcomed here!! We stopped by for some drinks and sat in the newly renovated lounge. We chatted with Christian even after we were done our drinks and we never wanted to leave!! We traveled from FL and can't wait to hopefully come back one day

Yelp
This review is for the BARbara Lounge at Trixie Motel. I'm glad we got to see inside Trixie Motel, but the BARbara Lounge experience was only so so. I wouldn't have known that the general public could now make reservations at BARbara Lounge until I saw it pop up on OpenTable. Maybe they need to do some marketing. There were only a few other people that came in and out while we were there, which makes the whole reservation process seem silly. A door from outside directly into the bar would be great, instead of ringing the doorbell outside the motel and waiting. The whole motel is visually engaging and well kept. I know the rates are astronomical. One reason may be that we saw four employees while we were there, and there are only seven rooms. The employees were friendly and accommodating. Trixie's actual crown is in the gift shop, but somewhat understandably, you're not allowed to try it on. As you might imagine, items in the gift shop are pricey. The lounge itself is larger than I imagined and very, very pink. Since there weren't many people there, it seemed sort of empty. There are only portable speakers for music. At one point, the music stopped and was awkwardly out for a good amount of time. Cocktails were okay, but expensive ($20 each, certain drinks $15 at happy hour). One of our drinks had hardly any taste at all, which was disappointing. The Ms. Pac-Man machine was broken, so another disappointment. On the plus side, the place looks great, and there were lots of clever touches, like heart shaped straws and photos of celebrities with Trixie's image photoshopped in. The bar/lounge is worth a visit for a look/see, but I won't rush back unless someone I know wants to go.

Yelp
Trixie Motel lives up to everything promised on its website and in the Discovery+ renovation show. We stayed in the Pink Flamingo room. Every detail was thoroughly designed and executed. There is a bar and kitchenette of sorts (refrigerator, sink, coffee maker) and a breakfast nook that leads to a small outdoor sitting area. Christian was a terrific host and made you feel so at home and he fully understands the meaning of excellent service. One of the many features of the motel rooms is that there is no TV and no phone. Even though this seems strange, it encourages you to go to the wonderfully appointed pool (temperature was perfect for a cooler desert night and Trixie appropriate music was played), or to the Trixie-themed lounge/bar area to meet the other guests in this 7 room motel. I would encourage guests to spend at least two nights here to get to know new friends. I've read many reviews that raved about the water pressure of the shower which at first seemed unusual to mention in a review, but even 5 star hotels cannot boast about this as the Trixie Motel should. There was a complimentary breakfast basket with croissants, juice, yogurt and granola. The motel is within walking distance of many terrific Palm Springs restaurants and retail stores. This is more than a place to stay--it's an experience.

Yelp
Incredible experience!! Every detail was perfection. Completely lived up to the show. We were feeling the fantasy. Christian was exceptionally kind, available to help and welcoming. We stayed in the Queen of Hearts room and it was the perfect vibe for our anniversary weekend. Currently planning our next trip back to stay in another room (and another, and another).

Yelp
What a relaxing fun weekend. Just spent Christmas weekend at the Trixie Motel. Alison, Anetta, Matty and David are all so nice. Even Trixie stopped by from time to time!!!!! The gift and cosmetics shop have a multitude of cute keepsakes. Every morning we were greeted with a breakfast picnic basket as well as a Keurig in the room to make coffee. The pool is very refreshing and heated to 85 degrees in the winter. We stayed in the flower power room which has a back patio. It was so nice. The theming in the room was so cute. The beds are very comfortable and the speaker in the bathroom ceiling was a nice touch. If you want to stop by for a drink or to purchase any merch, give them a call and they will tell you a good time to come by

Yelp
Had a delightful time visiting and staying at the Trixie Motel. It was a beautiful experience and cannot wait to visit and rebook once again. Thank you for such a fabulous stay!

Yelp
Laura and Matty were very accommodating! Laura was so friendly and sweet and chatting with us explaining everything to us! Matty was so friendly. He was so sweet we were chatting and buying drinks for a while. Love it here at trixie motel. We were so excited to check out our room and the pool! Thank you Matty and Laura for making us feel personable.

Yelp
My mom and I stayed in the Malibu Barbara room this past Friday, and we were so impressed with this place! Everything is loud and fun, but also very tastefully decorated. The staff is incredibly sweet, funny, and kind. And everything is so luxurious - the lounge chairs by the pool are soft and comfortable, as are the beds, and they provide top notch products in the bathroom. They provide a nice breakfast for you of croissants, nutella, orange juice, granola, and yogurt. The pool is the perfect temperature, and they have a nice lounge with a bar. (We had the flower power cocktail and it was delicious.) My only regret was that I couldn't stay longer!

Yelp
The staff was super nice, great drinks, great food, and it's more beautiful in person than you even imagine.

Yelp
My favorite hotel ever. Was so sad to leave. The facility is beyond cute and extremely well run. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. Shout out to Drew, Angel and Christian for making our experience so amazing. Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
We chose to have our event there because of the fantastic decor. But along the planning process, Drew, the events manager, Matty and Laura made the event even better with incredible follow through, effective communication and incredible service during our event. We will organize events here again in the future. Thank you to the Trixie crew!!
