"Owned by world-famous drag queen Trixie Mattel, this refurbished mid-century roadside motel in Palm Springs is an over-the-top, camp, Barbie-dream boutique property wrapped in a bubblegum-pink and gilded retro Palm Springs aesthetic. Tucked behind a gold-adorned pink gate with a neon sign, 70s pool floats, Smeg appliances and Mattel’s signature painted eyes, the property is relentlessly Instagrammable and full of photo ops. Designed by Dani Dazey and funded by the Scott brothers, the hotel offers seven individually themed rooms — examples include Queen of Hearts, Atomic Bombshell (which features a vintage shower and vanity, two ball chairs, and coordinating galactic-print sheets, curtains and wallpaper), Flower Power and Yeehaw Cowgirl — so no two rooms are alike. Guests can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool, inventive cocktails at the bar or poolside, a morning breakfast basket with unlimited drip coffee, free Wi‑Fi, a fridge and complimentary toiletries; rooms start at about $400 per night. Renovations beginning in 2020 were documented on Discovery+, and the team has cultivated strong support from and given back to the LGBTQIA+ community by hosting meetings and events; visitors also praise the friendly staff and the dreamy Old Las Palmas location within walking distance of downtown."
