Yelp
Trizest came highly recommended for some good Szechuan cuisine by multiple people, so I was thrilled to check it out. After trying it twice though, I will say that while it has helped satisfy some of my Szechuan cravings, there is still much to be desired.
Let's talk about the pretty good first: as a lover of the classic cold chicken appetizer, I was excited to see that Trizest did a pretty good job with it. A little spicy, mainly savory, its a pretty generous sized, tasty appetizer that could easily be mistaken for an entree. My main caveat is that the bones are still in the chicken -- the bones are cooked so soft that the bone/ marrow tends to break all over the place (so for people who don't like to eat the chicken bone/ marrow, you'll have to navigate this dish a more carefully). In addition, I am quite a fan of the perfume fish, which is a classic dish of spicy, soupy fish that pairs deliciously with rice. This dish was humungous as well, and lasted me several meals. While I enjoyed the flavors, I felt that it lacked... spiciness? It had some of the mouth-numbing heat that I was used to, but it never built up to the point where I felt that it was a satisfying level of heat.
I have also tried their stir fried green beans, eggplant with ginger sauce, and their squirrel shaped fish that I wasn't the biggest fan of. I felt that the green beans were too salty, the eggplant tasted mainly of oil (and wasn't spicy at all as advertised). For the squirrel fish it came highly rated on Yelp, but when we ordered it, we were disappointed since it just tasted like fried batter with some sweet & sour sauce (kind of like orange chicken)? We were hoping for more of the fish flavor that wasn't there. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong items? But overall, my impression of Trizest is just ok
One more thing about the service: it was also just ok (they took their order only after we had been waiting for 20 minutes and had to wave them down). The moment we finished eating, they aggressively cleaned our table off in a rush (even though the restaurant was half full) which was a bit off putting
