We were excited to finally checkout The Trotwood on a Friday night. The building, decoration and vibe were all promising as we entered an the anticipation grew.
Ordered our drinks - one of which had a problem & was returned. The wine was nicely priced and a good pour. No problems there. Then came the food. We were starving and eager to try their food & support a new local biz. Ordered fried chicken sandwich, chicken piccata [I believe was the blue plate] & risotto. Explained to our waiter to please bring out the food as ready - because we were tight on time.
Then we ordered another glass of wine.
Then we waited. After over an hour had passed, we expressed frustration and asked to pls check on food. Nothing offered to snack on while we waited. Just us and an empty table. We were then told the delay was because the risotto takes a long time to cook. Fairly certain an hour was enough.
Finally after 1.5 hours my child received his chicken. The portion of protein was incredibly small for the price, by any standard. Still no fried chicken sandwich or risotto.
After feeling lightheaded and after almost 2 hours we decided to go home and try and find something to eat. It was at this exact moment that our food appeared. We declined, paid for our drinks and left.
Here's the thing... I respect what they're trying to do here. The food on the neighboring table looked good enough. But it's def not ok to make a table of 3, one of which is a kid, wait for 2 hours for food with very little explanation or care during the wait. They were apologetic as we were leaving, but it's frustrating to go out to eat only to not be served and leave extremely aggravated. I hope they sort this out, and wish them success but I'm still annoyed just thinking about our dinner that never happened there.
I've given 2 stars not 1 because hopefully they'll sort this all out.

While I do appreciate the manager's speedy reply [see below] to my review and offer to contact if we return... I'd suggest having this communication w diners in the restaurant. Had anyone explained to us why the food was taking hours - or even brought us ANYTHING at all along with an apology while we were actually there - I'd be a lot less irritated. I understand new businesses have bumps in the road - this was not your first night open, though it very much felt like it at our table.
Hopefully others have a better experience and I really do wish you the best. The area needs restaurants like this if you can sort out times & portion/pricing.
