"Trek to the 2023 Texas Brewery of the Year for an out-of-this-world beer. Founded by four former NASA employees, True Anomaly offers thoughtfully creative and technically sound beers, from wild-fermented tangy sours like the seasonal Sea of Waves to various German, Belgian, and French styles, including their Small Giant summer saison. If you can’t make it to this East End bar, fear not: Dozens of restaurants and bars around Houston carry True Anomaly, as indicated by its convenient online beer finder." - Brianna Griff
"The main focus of True Anomaly, unsurprisingly, is the beer. The EaDo brewery doesn’t offer much in terms of activities, seating, or food (you can bring in take-out). However, they do have a niche space with rocket-themed beers on draught and seasonal beer in large-format bottles, like the Go Flight, a lychee IPA with a cloudy haze, or the Small Giant, a crisp belgian with a peppery finish. If you want to nerd out about beer, this is one of the best breweries to do so." - Chelsea Thomas
"For a view of downtown without actually having to go downtown, there’s Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company in the First Ward. The brewery and rooftop has a huge bar food menu with everything from smoked birria nachos and tikka masala fried to soft pretzels and “chopped and screwed” pepperoni pizzas, and of course a mind-numbingly long list of beers. You can have a meal in the second story restaurant, but we recommend heading straight to the rooftop on the third floor and grabbing a seat while you take in the gorgeous views." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas
"For a truly otherworldly brew experience make the trek to True Anomaly. Founded by former NASA employees, expect thoughtfully creative and technically sound beers from their wild-fermented tangy sours like the award-winning Sea of Waves to various German, Belgian and French styles, including their Wheels Stop Saison." - Sean Hekmat, Brittany Britto Garley, Megha McSwain
"True Anomaly Brewing Co. opened last week at 2012 Dallas Street with four beers on tap, aiming to build up its catalog to a dozen or so beers by its grand opening on April 27. The taproom features draft lines connected straight to brewery tanks and viewing windows into its cellaring operation with Foeder barrels. The brewery focuses on wild and sour beers and plans to be Houston's primary sour house. The name comes from a space term, reflecting the founders' NASA origins and their aim to push boundaries in brewing. The taproom includes a patio and plans for food trucks, with current hours from Wednesday to Sunday." - Adele Chapin
