French Laundry Alums Enlist Snoop Dogg for a Tutorial in Rolling (Pasta) - Eater SF

"Truffle Shuffle, founded by French Laundry alumni, offers weekly live cooking classes. Initially selling truffle products to restaurants, they pivoted to online classes during the pandemic. Their classes, featuring dishes like truffle mac and cheese and truffle lobster rolls, have become highly popular. The company has expanded, hiring 25 new employees, and even featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show. They recently moved to new headquarters in Oakland. A notable upcoming event is a Wild Mushroom Fettuccine Alfredo Cooking Class with Snoop Dogg as a guest judge." - Jess Lander

I have taken 20+ classes with Truffle Shuffle since May 2020 and I can’t recommend them highly enough! The classes are fun and interactive and the meals are just so damn delicious! The quality of ingredients are high and they are packaged nicely. My favorite classes have been protein oriented- steak, lobster rolls, lamb, duck, caviar, and eggs. I also really enjoy the cocktail mixer they pair with each class. Such a nice treat. The founders- Jason, Sarah, and Tyler- are all wonderful so I encourage you to sign up for a class and/or gift to a loved one. You won’t regret it! 😀

Truffle Shuffle was our "go to" during COVID for a place to have fun and virtually learn to cook Michelin quality meals with high quality ingredients. We then fell in love with all of the different chefs - now it feels like a family. We attend one or more classes a month and absolutely love them. If you calculate out what it would cost you to purchase the ingredients and make the dish on your own w/out guidance OR eat out at a Michelin star restaurant, you will quickly find that the prices are amazing. I love these guys and I love the food and cocktails that we make!

I have been participating in the week cooking classes with Truffle Shuffle for almost 2 months now, from Florida. This has become our weekly Sunday Funday event! It is a little expensive, but the VALUE is WORTH IT! Chefs are fantastic, ingredients are high quality, and the results are delicious!. And, with shipping included, it is such a great deal! The classes are engaging, fun, and the energy coming through the screen from Tyler, Jason, and Sarah are so wonderful! We need good energy and love in these crazy times. Food brings us all together. Their mission of giving back to their community is phenomenal. Thanks so much, Truffle Shuffle! Can't wait for things to calm down, so we can come visit in person! (Some of the pics include things we added for our meal)

Have done private events and joined in on several Sunday cooking sessions and our dishes are AMAZING every time. The team is a lot of fun and does a great job of keeping you engaged and feeling confident over video. Every dish is better than the last and we usually have left overs to enjoy again the next day!

Truffle Shuffle has been one of my favorite parts of quarantine! A friend hosted a small group class for us where we made truffle mac and cheese, and I was hooked. I NEVER cook – like go to the grocery store a handful of times a year and live on delivery – but had a blast! They made it so easy to cook these gourmet dishes with the simple box of ingredients and clear instructions with the online classes. And the final dishes taste INCREDIBLE! I've felt so much more empowered to try getting into cooking and it's been a really fun at-home date night. I've also loved the creative cocktail pairings – we made a classic penicilin with their truffle honey that may be my new favorite drink. The vibe of the classes is really relaxed, social, and fun. Also big props to their customer support; I only had a snafu with an order once (I'm on my fourth class), and the team had such excellent service! This has truly been one of my highlights during such a crazy time, and I look forward to cooking with Truffle Shuffle on the weekends.

TLDR: TRUFFLE SHUFFLE & THE TS TEAM IS AMAZING IN EVERY WAY. Send to yourself or as a gift and enjoy the magic of truffles. And do not under any circumstances, miss the Truffle Mac and Cheese Class! Truffle Shuffle is the real deal peeps! The products are unlike any other truffle product - especially their truffle salt and truffle honey OMGGG they're seriously unreal and don't have that fakey-icky overpowering truffle flavor that so many other companies have. They are a staple in my kitchen - all my friends think my cooking has improved but really it's just my secret ingredients heheh LETS TALK ABOUT COOKING - because actually, truffle shuffle has also made my cooking better with their online classes!! They are SO fun, I do them every single sunday (Excessive? maybe. Will I stop? never). It's cook-a-long style which makes it fun even when I am by myself but also love doing this with my boyfriend or family. They even send you a cute box with all these locally-sourced delish high quality ingredients. LOVE it. I have learned about so many new brands and products through them. The recipes are always things that seem intimidating but turn out to be easy peasy with their pro chef tips (they're Michelin trained so...#GENIUSES). It's an awesome gift too (send a meaningful experience!!) Chef Jason is hilarious and mischievous and his wife Sarah is a wine & bev goddess who always has tips for your dranks! CHEF TYLER is like a professor of food who teaches the best methods for everything and always gives insightful explanations for WHY he does things that often include interesting food science tidbits so if you're a curious foodie freak like I am, you'll appreciate his big brain and laid back style - he makes everything feel approachable. TY Truffle Shufflers, see you Sunday ;)

These classes have become what I look forward to. They are fun, engaging and I learn all sorts of new tricks in the kitchen. You get everything you need for the class before hand, and I have repeated the recipes which my family loves. I highly recommend this class for all levels its a great way to have fun in the kitchen.

Google
What's better than learning to cook with truffles? Having a truffle company ship you every ingredient you need ahead of class, save for the tap water! Seriously. I have taken two live streamed classes with Truffle Shuffle, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I am a huge fan and have even gotten my friends, family, and colleagues on the bandwagon!

Yelp
This is absolutely amazing. I've done about 7-8 of these online classes and the Chefs are THE BEST! My wife and I have had some of the best meals ever, and I've made them in our own home. You get everything you need sent to your home about 1-2 days before the class and they walk you through every step, and finish up showing you how to plate the meal you just cooked. I finished the surf and turf class today - probably the best one yet. In the past I've also done Spanish Saffron (delicious), Frittata with salmon (best ever), Dungeness crab cakes (lovely) and NY Steak with Wild mushrooms (mouth-watering) to name a few. The Chefs are out of this world, super skilled, and really, really nice.

Yelp
Participated in TS Chef series with Rogelio García. We Received our package with all ingredients including a Paloma cocktail for two, just add the tequila. Chef Rogelio and Tyler From TS walked us through making Chicken Tacos including blue masa tortillas. This was an adventure in culinary learning. It was extremely fun and we meet such a diverse Group of participants from different states. This was not our first time with TS nor will it be our last. Definitely give it a try and follow Chef Rogelio he is awesome. He is the executive Chef at Luce in SF at the InterContinental and has an awesome Instagram page as does TS BRAVO ok WELL DONE

Yelp
Truffle Shuffle is a just clever name but an extraordinary company founded by truffle loving world class chefs. We discovered Truffle Shuffle during a virtual New Year's 2021 celebration . It was a blast! We were so impressed by the professionalism, engaging entertainment and culinary treats. So still under COVID19 pandemic lock down in San Francisco, we signed up for their pasta making class. We received a box from their Oakland location the night before with fresh truffles, cheese, 00 floor, butter, special seasoning, instructions and were excited to get started with the pasta class on a February evening. Our chef & pasta professor was Tyler who was very engaging, shared techniques & tips and had a wonderful sense of humor. The class had about 24 others participants via Zoom across the country and it was great to see other families from couples, teenagers, younger children (even a baby) and several canines. Tyler was very easy going and kept the class on track with his sharing details about pasta making. Highly recommend any Truffle Shuttle class or event. We will join in again soon! Well done! Bravo!

Yelp
The best virtual cooking class during this difficult time. Something to look forward to every weekend! Please support to help collective goal to sell enough kits to make meals for health care workers. You can directly donate as well. They partner with local vendors to create awesome recipes and easy to follow virtual class for everyone to enjoy. The first class was truffle risotto with fresh truffle. I learned so many great tip and techniques from the chefs. Next class is our favorite Mac and cheese! Please support local businesses and let's help each other out in need. Highly recommend!

Yelp
If you want to have an amazing culinary experience with friends and family that is interactive that I definitely suggest Truffle Shuffle. It's a great way of bringing friends and family together as well as a romantic dinner for two. Prepackaged dinners are available for purchase and it comes with dates when you can of course cook these meals via zoom and it's a great way to meet new friends across the country etc there's nothing better than breaking bread with people you love and what a great way to share with those far and there it's an incredible culinary experience

Yelp
My company did a cooking class (lasted about 2 hrs) with Truffle Shuffle a few weeks ago and it was very entertaining! First, the company was started by alumni chefs from The French Laundry.... so, they basically know what they're doing, duh. There were probably close to 100 of us on the Zoom class, which couldn't have been an easy task for Truffle Shuffle to manage us all! However, Chef Jason was extremely engaging and kept us entertained/orderly through the class. Cooking instructions were straight forward. Any questions from us we'd type in the group chat and Chef Jason would answer for us shortly thereafter. - we made truffle risotto - an alcoholic drink (non-alcoholic drink options were also available) We received a box with all cooking ingredients prior to the class. I was very impressed by the quality of ingredients that were sent... including the packaging! I've taken a few cooking classes and this was by far the most "up-scale" in terms of ingredients. Highly recommend! BTW- their truffle + white cheddar popcorn is TO DIE FOR!!!!! Literally, best popcorn i've ever had. EVER.

Yelp
Taste: 5 (I made it!) Value: 4.5 Service: helpful, entertaining, enthusiastic A worthwhile first ZOOM cooking class experience in quarantine. I am so glad I found out about this group and was able to participate in this epic Truffle Mac and Cheese class. Both chefs who were in charge of the days class are French Laundry alum - to me this meant that their skills, advice, and overall flavor profile in the dish would be outstanding. To my surprise, I also found that they were entertaining with good humor, interactive audience participation, and overall encouragement. The whole process from ordering, delivery, to day of cooking experience was seamless. One of our plastic containers holding some flour was slightly damaged in transit, but I don't blame the company for this - it happens. The quality of local ingredients was impeccable from the pasta to the cheeses. The class was easy to follow (though maybe a little fast for my pace), and the outcome was a delicious entree that I almost didn't want to share with my sous chef - he deserved some though. So cheesy, al dente, and filled with truffle flavor. Will need to try their place when we can!

Yelp
Truffle Shuffle did a zoom cooking class for my work holiday party and it was great!! I would completely recommend them. The food was delicious, and they did a great job helping people (of various cooking levels) through the process while also keeping it very fun and engaging. We made ricotta gnocchi with truffle sauce and it was amazing. They sent all the ingredients in a box that arrived the day before.

Yelp
As a engagement present, one of my good friends wanted to invite me & my fiancé to a very special dinner riddle with truffles, my all-time favorite fungus. Driving up to the industrial area of Oakland, we didn't know what to expect from this experience. We rushed ourselves into the gates and found the most quaint two-story house containing a beautiful live edge wood table that perfectly fit 12. We were quickly greeted by Sarah as she help us unload our 4 bottles of wine - it was BYOB and we got ambitious... After which point we got introduced to our infamous French Laundry alums - Tyler & John - along with small bites to start our night. We spent some time taking pictures and taking in all the wonderful products being offered for purchase. Popping off the night with the champagne offered- we were excited to eat! The menu is ever rotating based on the freshest ingredients. Our meal started with a truffle deviled egg taste, but the multi- course meal was way more impressive: - Black Truffle and Artichoke Soup - Green Gulch Farm Salad (with the most delicious goat cheese) - English Pea Risotto - Roasted Duck Breast I can't explain how delicious it was. I wanted to pick up my plate and lick it clean! All the while the stories, conversations, & wine kept pouring. The night was needed with the last of our wine, a Young Coconut Sorbet, & multiple purchases of their truffle products. I would highly recommend this experience and can't wait to find an opportunity to do it again.

Yelp
In the industrial part of Oakland, had the pleasure of joining a private dinner at Truffle Shuffle with French Laundry alums Tyler Vorce and John McKinney manning the kitchen (and his lovely wife Sarah tending the tables). The dinner is in a home that serves as their headquarters as well. Seating for 12. BYOB. Seasonal menu makes the meal unique as are the other truffle enthusiasts joining the meal. *~MENU 6/2/2019~* Asparagus Salad: beech mushrooms, walnuts, truffle vinaigrette English Pea Raviolo: summer truffle confit, Parmesan mousse Roasted Chicken Breast: fresh bean ragout, radishes, black truffle sauce Blackberry Ice Cream: served on a bed of Rainier cherries, topped w/ pistachios and mint Upon passing through the iron gates, we could smell the truffles wafting towards us. Entering the establishment, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and a profiterole topped w/ shaved Parmesan nestled on a dollop of truffle aioli. Typically the meal doesn't include a wine paring but since several close friends of the chefs were joining, they were kind enough to provide some for the rest of the diners throughout the meal. It was fun mingling with the other dining guests while we waited. A dinner bell rang to signify the start of the meal. When seated, a mini eggs Benedict was placed in front of us as a nice surprise off-the-menu treat as they went over a little about themselves and the story of their journey thus far into this venture. Soon after, the rest of the meal began. Everything was amazing, but everyone's favorite was definitely the raviolo, the egg was inside was done perfectly and the yolk oozing into the Parmesan mousse was just exquisite. Would highly recommend going and sign up for their email list for updates. I'm looking forward to their salt releasing in July where they are sourcing salt from Bali made in the traditional way (trees and sand).

Yelp
I've been witness to a number of their Zoom classes -- I'm the family dishwasher. I'm so impressed with the whole enterprise: Ingredients arrive in advance and they're first-class. Instructions are simple, clear and there's always something new to learn. The results are incredible. Plus, the beverage pairing locks it all down. Fun, fabulous, friendly. This would make an amazing gift for the "chef" in your house. Great gift to yourself as good people and food is nourishing in so many ways. I'm doing the Sushi class soon and can't wait to join in myself!

Yelp
We just did a virtual class for steak Diane last night, partnered with Justin winery. Oh my gosh, it was SO fun and by far the best in person or online cooking class we've taken! Exceeded our expectations a lot! Chef Tucker was great and we learned a lot, made some great food and had a great time. Even with a lot of participants it felt like we were all included and felt like a small group. The packaging arrived with lots of notifications so we knew when to expect it. AND I loved that the packaging was all recyclable, even the ice packs! Definitely doing this again!

Jason L.

Yelp
What a disappointment! The truffle had almost no truffle flavor - even when eaten raw. And despite following all of their storage instructions and eating the truffle within a week as they recommend. What a waste of money - not to mention the whole meal prepared to eat it with. If 0 stars was an option, they would have earned it!

Karen S.

Yelp
Occasionally a business super-impresses me. Truffle Shuffle just did. My husband and I took a Steak Diane cooking class in December (wonderful experience). We wanted to make the recipe again, and needed the truffle carpaccio. I tried to order 2 jars but, for some reason, I could only load 1 jar in my cart despite several attempts. I gave up. The next day Truffle Shuffle emailed - "why hadn't I completed my order?". I explained. They checked their website - no problem there. It was likely my stupid cellphone. I said, "next time." Yesterday, 2 jars of the Truffle Carpaccio arrived (and a jar of Truffle Salt), without my paying for it! OMG. Does this really still happen? I think it was my phone's fault, and you're sending me this? Thank you so much for customer service that's way in excess of what's expected or even necessary. You can bet I'll be making many more Steak Diane's!

Susan B.

Yelp
Truffle Shuffle is one of the few things that has put a smile on our faces during COVID. Everything is amazing about the Truffle Shuffle experience. Not only do you learn tips and tricks from the very experienced chefs, but they have developed a connected community where you feel like you really get to know them and the other people who are participating in the experience. It's clear that the Truffle Shuffle team really cares about exceeding expectations every time. Now, about the food. Everything from learning how to cut apart a chicken to make the best fried chicken I have ever had to truffle mac and cheese, truffle risotto, steak béarnaise, has been a winner. My college daughter loved doing it so much with us that we ordered a truffle shuffle experience for her and her college friends when she went back to college. Also, Truffle Shuffle is so great that we did it for our wedding anniversary, and we have never had more fun or had a more delicious dinner. I recommend that everyone check out Truffle Shuffle. You will be happy you did!

Yelp
I completed the Zoom Mother's Day crepe class today, with my mom who lives three hours away, and I was very impressed. Every ingredient needed was hand delivered, plus a drink starter and a small bouquet of dried flowers to make tea with. The class was pretty easy to follow. When I did get lost, I looked at the instructions they included in the food box and caught right back up. The only bummer was the whipped cream didn't quite come out, and it seemed like a lot of people had the same problem. The chef came up with a work-around and we made a soft butter to go on top instead. I received a delivery notice that I should receive my ingredients on Friday, but the tracking said they were 'undeliverable'. When I called Saturday (class was on Sunday), Jason (the owner, I believe) answered and said he would look into it and get back to me. He called a couple hours later and I had my delivery that evening. Great customer service! My mom and I had a great time doing this class. Since we couldn't be together during quarantine, at least we could take this class at the same time. What a great idea!!

Yelp
My wife's office had a work party- a Zoom steak cooking class from Truffle Shuffle. It was awesome!! The food was tasty, the event was a blast and the instructors were engaging and made the event super fun!! There was a cocktail included in the event, a martini, as well as steak and mushrooms. I learned a lot and we ordered another class on our own!

Yelp
A great company with passionate people who care about the community. Their live classes are the best and have turned our family into chefs. They work with local farmers and ranchers and provide high quality ingredients in their meal kits.

Yelp
I hardly ever write reviews, but I had placed an order for a Christmas gift. When the package arrived one of the items had leaked a little bit. I contacted the company and within 5 days they had sent me a replacement that over met my expectations. Extremely good customer service.

Yelp
Have you ever printed out a recipe, then struggled to find the right ingredients? Then gotten to cooking and thought "waaaaait a minute, this doesnt look right" Here is where Truffle Shuffle shines. They source the finest ingredients, toss in a cocktail mixer, then a complete recipe including what bowls, spoons, pans etc you may need. THEN - you get a link to a class where you log in and cook along with a professional chef that has worked in Michelin Star restaurants. Have a question? Boom - Zoom - they take a look at your cookery, and help you find your way out of the weeds. Along with this pro cookery guidance, they keep the mood light and fun. They go fast enough you arent bored, but slow enough where you can keep up. What have I made? Pasta from scratch - beef wellington - salmon en papillote - red wine braised short ribs. And an epic Club Sandwich. Great for beginner cooks, great for experienced cooks. End of class you have a hearty meal for two and recipes you can easily repeat on your own anytime you want, and you will have the confidence to do it beginning to end, Pretty Epic! So try them out - well worth it

Yelp
What a fun class and a delicious meal! I worked with Leah at Truffle Shuffle to plan a company virtual team building event...and wow, our team (of over 40) was not disappointed! Leah and her team went above and beyond...helping us with all of our last minute requests and changes to make sure everything was just right. The classes were fantastic! We chose the Truffle Risotto and the Steak and mushrooms. Both classes were very interactive and run at a pace to allow all of the "chefs" to keep up. The kits for our classes were delivered to locations all over the country, all arrived on time, still ice cold and ready for cooking. In a follow up survey to my team, I received nothing but rave reviews on the class and requests to repeat this team building event. Thank you to the Truffle Shuffle team! We'll definitely be back for more!
