Back when Truluck's first opened at this location, I worked in the building and this was my go-to spot for Happy Hour & celebratory lunches & dinners. Although I wirk nearby now, it had been like TEN YEARS since I had been back, but that will definitely change after yesterday's fantastic lunch! We were celebrating our co-workers birthday & decided to head to Truluck's for this last week of Miami Spice. As soon as we arrived the service was immediately noticeable. The gentleman at valet was very nice & once we walked in, the lovely hostess (who was there back when I used to frequent) welcomed us with such warmth! We were promptly seated in one of their lovely booths & the hostess cane back to sprinkle silver confetti on the table when she overheard there was a birthday! Such a sweet detail. Our waiter, Marvin was great too. He made some excellent wine suggestions & was never more than a few feet away. Truth be told, some Miami Spice menus are terrible & you wonder why the restaurants bothered to participate at all. That was NOT the case with Truluck's! The options on the menu were delicious, tried & true favourites. We started with the PARKER HOUSE STYLE ROLLS (butter brushed, and parmesan finished). This heavenly cloud of bread was sooooo beautiful, fluffy & delicious! Totally worth the carbs. For my meal, I chose the SONOMA GREENS SALAD (spicy pecans, goat cheese, apples, kalamata olives, honey vinaigrette) which is quite possibly one of THE best salads I have EVER HAD. Soooooo good! Flavours were perfectly balanced with great textures throughout. Next, for my mail, I chose the JALAPEÑO SALMON BÉARNAISE (blue crab, shrimp, béarnaise) the perfectly cooked fillet sat on top of a mound of masked potatoes, then covered with the most incredible, silkiest, crab filled béarnaise sauce! The one shrimp was also to die for. If no one was looking, I would have licked the plate clean. I'm STILL thinking about it & plotting my next visit. For dessert, I went with the classic VANILLA CRÈME BRÛLÉE (rich creamy custard infused with madagascar vanilla beans) which was perfect! As we were just digging in to our desserts, Marvin surprised us with a birthday BAKED ALASKA & proceeded to set it up in flames while we excitedly oooohed & aaaaahed! Such amazing food, great time & such incredible service from everyone at this top-notch establishment. Will definitely be back soon!
