Tryon Public House

This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Great service, fun atmosphere, tasty food, a full bar, and plenty of outdoor seating. I like their nachos, buffalo wings, and steak. The burgers and sandwiches can be made with gluten free buns. And they have tacos on Taco Tuesday. I often recommend this place to visitors.

Stopped in for a round of drinks and an appetizer. The service was very slow, especially considering there were only 2 tables occupied at the restaurant. The guacamole was very good. The bloody mary was decent. The waitress was nice and brought us a sample of the bloody mix to test the spice level. Clean and nice atmosphere.

Great food! Brunch is really good, big draft beer selection, many tvs to watch games, every day they have different entertainment; trivia, karaoke, markets, etc. Outdoor sitting is very comfortable, the staff is really friendly and they make you feel at home!

After work decided to go there for a few drinks with Co-workers. We sat outside as were talking the sitting part of the bench falls down my ankle got caught under it. The waitress comes to check what’s going on. Doesn’t offer help or checks to see if any one of us is hurt. The food we order the steak sliders the meat was super chewy did not like them and the drinks were water down. Not sure what was wrong with them on Friday but I’ve been here before the service and food were great at other times. Hopefully next time I come it would be a better experience.

The food was really good, the service was friendly, and the vibes were homey but youthful. I'll definitely go there again. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that there was a hair in one our plates of fries, but that could've been a one-time thing.

This restaurant is just a short walk down the hill from the Met Cloisters, and has a great selection of food and drinks. The steak sandwich was absolutely delicious, and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. The servers were attentive and food was prepared quickly. The atmosphere was great and there were many TVs with a selection of channels on. I really enjoyed my experience at this great restaurant.

Came here after visiting The Cloisters Museum nearby. Very friendly service! I had the Truffle Burger and the highlight for me were actually the fries: perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and seasoned just right. The burger itself was ok but it didn't taste well balanced. Even though the patty was enormous and really dense, all I could taste was the very thick layer of cheese on top! I've seen pics of this burger from other people and it looked different, so perhaps it was whoever made my burger that day that didn't get it quite right.

Delightful and friendly pub where the team members get to be mixologists for signature cocktails! Our waitress created my drink “ The D” and it was refreshing and sassy! Management and wait staff were welcoming like you were regulars.

Bar food, but good bar food. The fish tacos are my favorite item on the menu. 10/10 Great DJ plays a variety of new music and throwback classics. Very loud though. Impossible to hold a conversation. 9.5/10 Drinks were a little weak. 7.5-8.0/10 All in all, a nice place to grab a bite and enjoy some music with friends.

I was hanging out with a friend and we came here for a drink and a bite to eat. It's a cool place to hang out with friends and the beer options are solid but the food menu is uninspired. I figured a burger would be a safe choice given it's essentially a pub but my burger was so bland and dry that it was awful. Honestly one of the worst burgers I've had in a long time!

Makes you want to get up mid drink if you're at the bar. B rating. Bathrooms are gross. Manager is rude. Owner nice. Manager hates everything about being there. B rating. Manager- so so bad.

Tucked into a corner of cozy Inwood, this spacious neighborhood pub is the ideal place to grab a brew or meal after a day spent at the epoynmous park or the Met's famous Cloisters, which is how some companions and I wound up here one dark November afternoon. The happy hour prices could not be beat: $4 Naraggansett! Baby, you can FEEL the Rhode Island ocean breeze at "Tyrone's"! The food teetered from OK to good: our appetizers were so-so; my entrée, the ragu, excellent. Our only concern was previous reviewers' complaints about the noise. As we were there pretty early, we did not share these, though they were playing Millennial bangers pretty darn loud for 4:30 p.m. Thus, when the bar is full, I imagine there's quite a din.

It was my first time eating (and not just drinking) here & it was so good. The bartender was attentive like he always is, I don't remember his name but he's the only one behind the on weekdays usually. It was lively & he told me about karaoke coming up. I think it's on Thursdays? Anyway super good food & sangrias were great!

Good food, ice cold beer on tap, a lot of TV's to watch any game or fight. Nice chill spot

Came here to try the Sunday Brunch. So nice to have a local brunch place. I had waffles and fried chicken breast. Waffles were fine with just the right amount of syrup. The other party member had the American Breakfast. Both were good. service was great and really enjoyed being able to eat outside. The Virgin Maria was a bit spicy for my taste. Mimosa was a little heavy on the champagne. Both were extras so you didn't have to drink if you don't want to. Outside only issue is that you are right over the subway. So if the train stops underneath you can hear the train engine noise. But this IS NYC.

Amazing meal I had today. Despite being a bar food. The burger I forgot to take picture. I order it with a good a side salad. The burger was excellent (Medium well) and side salad. As a desert I order a cheese cake and it was ok. The place already a chill vibe and the he music. The service is good today.

Honestly, I am being generous with this rating. I will start with the space. I enjoyed the vibe of the place, live DJ, low lighting, and just friendly people in the space in general. I am thinking this is a place I could build relationships with and become a regular - I have to say the DJ is amazing he played the cuts from back in the day and that was appreciated. Vegans and GF folx this is a place to go!! I was able to get vegan buffalo wings and a vegan burger with a GF bun and it didn't rob my pockets thankfully. It also tasted amazing! The food and the drinks saved this place and honestly is forcing me to come back. I appreciated their winter menu for their drinks and I also appreciated having GF an mocktail options on their menu. Menu was pretty extensive so wanting to see if everything is as good as my meal. The service was lackluster - I mean our waiter forgot about us for a long time. He didnt refill our waters at all and just was not friendly. I hope the next time I come I have a better experience with someone else. So all in all, if you are looking for something lowkey, good drinks and good food with friends or alone this is prolly my top 5 on dyckman.

Experience was relaxing, though service was kinda lacking at times but mainly I think due to low staffing - so not completely their fault. Standard foods. I came for brunch. Had biscuit and gravy. Was meh. Not enough gravy so just very biscuit-y and kinda dry at that. But it's hard to find biscuits and gravy in NYC, so I'll give somewhat of a pass. I think come more for the setting than anything. Nice outdoor seating and tables were big and comfortable (some outdoor seating can feel kinda rickety). Came post Cloisters so a nice place to get a meal, esp if you have a larger group and you just wanna grub.

Filthy and it has a B-that speaks for itself. The servers are nasty and the food is like Applebees. Very good drinks but I know they can do better on the cleanliness and service delivery.

Came here after we realized the Cafe at the Cloister was closed. It's just down the hill in Inwood. Service was spotty but they make a damn good burger. Since my hubby has mastered smash burgers, I haven't liked thicker burgers but these were delicious. Mine came with onions, bacon and smoked Gouda. A generous serving of sweet potato fries accompanied it. Had a nice brunch menu, as well.

Food was good and the prices were reasonable in a pleasant atmosphere.Staff was attentive and helpful. For some reason they were playing nothing but Noah Kahan's music so if you're into that ...

No way, I would come back here ever again. We needed a place to have some drinks while we waited for a another brunch venue to open. First of all the musty smell alone was a turn off. Cluttered decor, dirty, horrible punk rock or whatever type of head banging music was playing. Simply not our vibe at all!! Old, musty, marlboro smelling old men sitting at the bar on a Sunday afternoon and a bartender with a look of apathy on her face. As if the smell and vibe were not bad enough, the weak, drinks were overpriced! Early Sunday afternoon at a dive like that should have brunch drink specials! If you need a relatively quiet place to grab a burger and a beer I suppose this place can work for many. But if you are looking for good music, upbeat vibes, and fairly priced cocktails this was certainly not the place for us.

Elsie the server at the bar made me feel welcome even though I came in early and they weren't really ready to serve lunch. More importantly, I had a bistec panini that was quite tasty and --not flat but vertically stacked as triangular wedges. Nice old fashioned tavern but not at all seedy. Looks like a quite popular local bar / restaurant.

I have been coming to tryin for the last 5 years. I love the vibe and the dim lighting. The staff is always friendly and always checking on you but not in the annoying way. I looove the jalapeño Margarita and the variety of IPAs they sell. Today I had the fish Po Boy. It was huge and had a nice crispy texture. I do think it needed more spicy tar tar sauce but that's just my preference. The regular and sweet potato fries are soooooo delicious

***Update*** So 4 this far in is a coup. This spot leads with ambiance and bartender personality. Really hard to beat of you want a diverse Heights (yep, it's south of Dyckman, sport it) warm spot with bare brick and stucco walls. I'd put his place on the list for first date, drinks spot. The food is OK, the menu is dope. Get them to match and longevity will be in your corner. The number of reviews narrates the tale of this place as a great addition to the Heights,/Inwood/Uptown, you can name it.

This is everything a neighborhood pub should be! Friendly staff, great bar snacks (old bay fries, yum), reasonably priced drinks and a nice big location to hang out, watch sports or just chill in the AC on a hot Wednesday because the Cloisters is closed. Highly recommended when around Inwood

I've been going to this spot for 4 years and I find it to be a great neighborhood pub with tasty food and friendly service. They are a sports bar so expect the latest sporting event(s) on their many flat screen TVs. The food is always tasty and well prepared. I've been to brunch, lunch and dinner and haven't been disappointed yet. Drinks are strong and the beer is cold. Music is an eclectic blend of 80's, 90's, 2000's and today. All in all Fort Tryon is a good waiting to be had, so bring friends and an appetite.

Tryon Pub is consistent on making great food and rarely lets down. They have great fries, great burgers, a great vibe and an affordable menu for the most part. Can be busy during big games, but honestly worth the wait if there is one. Pro-tip: in the summers the afternoon crowd can be pretty thin. Summertime drinking in the patio is a must.

This is my go-to local restaurant. I love the staff and the manager, the food is reliably good and the seasonal changes often mean surprising new favorites (I'm loving the recently added chopped salad with hummus.) Music gets a little too loud after 8 or so (reason I took off a star) but I love this place, and that wouldn't bother everyone

Horrible service. My family went out on Saturday 4/15/2023 to hang out at our local pub. We had three different waiters through out our meal because they keep clocking out and leaving without telling us.... It got to a point where we didn't even know who our waiter was, try to order drinks with the bartender and that was another hot mess. He purposely choose who he wanted to interact with, take a shots and continued to ignore me. Really sucks because I've been supporting this establishment since they open and I've never experienced anything like this in my neighborhood.

Great place for an intimate meal or casual hangout. Staff are great and accommodating. Food gets high marks because it came out quickly and it tasted so fresh. You can't go wrong with Tyron's concise but rewarding menu We missed the outdoor seating we enjoyed over the summer but grab yourself a table inside

I wanted to say this place is so consistent and I mean that in the best way possible. The food is ok always pretty good, the drinks are great, the waitstaff is always excellent and knowledgeable. Tonight was a nice surprise - live DJ - they played some fun music. It's so nice to have this neighborhood option. Truly thank you for being consistent! !

Good food, prompt delivery service. The burgers are quite yummy! Haven't yet visited the physical restaurant, but it looks cute from the street.

I've been coming here since 2016 and always enjoy myself. The Red Eye Burger is without a doubt my favorite thing on the menu - the burger is cooked perfectly and the whole thing is so satisfying. Service is generally good, up to the standards you'd expect. The atmosphere is kinda chill for a sports bar, which I appreciate. I will say that every once in a blue moon, the food isn't up to the standards that they've set for themselves (I feel like the last time I had the fries, they didn't taste as crispy and delicious as they have in the past) but I can't let that stand in the way of a five-star review given all the wonderful meals and beers I've had here.

Always good and it's the only neighborhood place that has drag shows. Bartenders and servers are always super nice.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon after running the Bronx 10 Mile with some of my friends. The staff was very friendly and attentive throughout. I tried the buffalo wings with blue cheese, which were delicious. We ordered lime margaritas and they were pretty good and strong, just a bit too sweet. I eventually got the munchies again once we started drinking so I went with the mac n' cheese with chicken. It was OK--I've had much better, to say the least. The best part was the dessert--we shared the skillet bourbon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream; it was AMAZING! I definitely recommend trying it if you have a sweet tooth. They were having a drag show at the time as well which was super fun! This was a great touch to the already great vibe at TPH. I'd definitely come back for brunch or a random evening with friends. Their outdoor area is pretty spacious as well.

I've never visited Fort Tryon, but apparently it's changed quite a bit from just a few years ago. It's now a place to go visit and hang out! So I did just that with someone. We went to the park and when it started getting bitey, we ducked the insects and came over to Public House. Hit #1: They let us sit outside and play games casually for 3 hours while ordering in bits and pieces. Hit #2: Very good quality food. It's not cheap, but this is NYC at a place trying to be trendy. They were willing to make my friend's dish vegetarian by de-chickening the quesadilla. The bread pudding at the end wasn't my favorite taste, but it was good quality. Also, I'm biased by my sister's bread pudding. ;) Hit #3: Very friendly service, attentive when we wanted them but stayed out of our way if we were busy (at the game, eating, chatting). Let us sit where we wanted the whole time, refilled water when asked, even in my bike bottle! Hit #4: If you go inside, lots of TVs around to watch and they do show PPV stuff. If you're outside, music. Always something lively going on here to represent Inwood. Swing and a miss: For a bar, the beer selection was overpriced and underwhelming. $7 house lager was pretty watery. $8+ for a reasonable pint. I asked my friend how he liked his dish, and he said 3.5 stars. When they removed the chicken, they didn't put back the spices. So that as much as the price and the beer is my final factor in the 4 star rating. But enjoy the food and service and atmosphere!

I've been coming here for over 4 years. This is my favorite spot in Dyckman/ Inwood area. They have great appetizers and entrees. The bartenders are awesome and always provide excellent service. Manager is also very friendly. I highly recommend coming here. The wings are so yummy. One of the best!! For entrees I usually go for the chipotle chicken with fries but I have pretty much tried everything on the menu from the tacos to the fish and chips and steak everything is all tasty. They also have happy hour with a great selection of beer and cocktails. They have high/low tables & the bar area. This place is great for large groups and a date night. I would recommend checking out the website or their instagram page for special events always happening. I Will definitely continue coming here.

This place is definitely OVERRATED! The food here is so bland and the menu is very limited. If you must come here, limit yourself to guacamole and a burger... Anything else might be risky!! For example, the chicken sandwich comes in a very hard and tasteless bread. This place is just convenient because it always has seats available... oh, and I have to give it them, the staff is very friendly!

I lived in this area for a long time and never tried this place. Always walked by and it seemed very lively. My friends and I were looking for a place to grab dinner and noticed that there was a live band playing outside so we decided to give it a try. The service was great! The servers were very friendly, they kept refilling our waters and coming over to see if you wanted another drink. (Without being annoying). The food was exactly what you expect from a pub. It was very filling and the portion sizes were on the larger side. My friends and I shared the nachos. They were pretty good nothing out of the ordinary. I was a bit disappointed at the cheese selection for the nachos. It lacked flavor and tasted very much store bought. I had the the Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich. It had pickled cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes and a buffalo ranch sauce. The chicken was perfectly cooked although I wished it was a bit spicier (as the name says). The star of this sandwich were definitely the pickled cucumbers, they were absolutely delicious! It brought the perfect amount of acidity and tang, which helped to cut through the richness of the fried chicken. It came with a side of fries and those were very well executed. All the things you want from a good fry; crunchy exterior, soft potatoey interior and just the right amount of saltiness. The live band was a really nice touch to our meal, although I don't know if this happens often. Overall, great place to grab a drink and dinner. Very casual environment, the outdoor seating seems to be kid and pet friendly. Will definitely come again!

Dined here twice on my recent visit to NYC! We dined on the outdoor patio & the service was great! However they're always very busy, so be patient waiting for a table. My first Saturday there we waited about an hour for a table outside. A week later on Sunday,we were seated quickly! The dishes were delish & they offer vegan choices too!

I mean... the photo says it all. The bottom of my burger bun was covered in mold. Since it was on the bottom, I didn't see it until my partner pointed it out after I had taken 2 bites. My partner's bun had a little mold on it too. When we notified our server, she took it back to the kitchen, who told us they were "just grill marks" and totally normal. Truly baffling response. It was 100% charred mold -- we could see the fuzz underneath the char. Our server offered to replace the bottoms if we were still apprehensive, which we obviously accepted. (The replacement bottoms were also grilled, but not covered in fuzzy black spots! Go figure.) We also received cajun fries in spite of ordering regular, handcut fries ( which cost an extra $4), and my burger was cooked medium-well instead of my med-rare order. We still paid for the food and tipped 20% in spite of the mold. Our server was super nice (but we would never eat here again).

My girlfriends and I were looking for a place to have brunch after our 5K race at Bronx Community College a couple of weekends ago. Personally, I love this area of uptown. The food scene here is ever-changing and the variety has grown so much over the years. We were able to reserve a table and did so, just in case it got crowded. Luckily, since the race was over for us orettu early, reservations weren't really necessary and we beat the crowds. Thor was our server. He was very attentive and pleasant. He sat us at a cocktail table, gave us menus and waters. One gf ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla and my other gf and I both ordered Short Rib Benedicts. The food was great. We all enjoyed our meals. They have hot sauce which took everything to the next level. I took it upon myself to also order hubby their Tryon Red Eye Burger with Tryon Fries, which are covered in melty American cheese, bacon, scallion and ranch dressing (they put the dressing on the side). Hubby was overwhelmed. My son would have loved that order but for hubbs, he would have probably enjoyed something a little more understated. He had to eat it in two sittings. I have but one gripe with our experience and I'll explain that now. All of their brunch entrées come with a complimentary drink, either a mimos, bloody mary, coffee or tea or with the option of a 90-minute AYCD add-on. One girlfriend ordered a mimosa and my other girlfriend and I asked if we could get the Man-mosa instead, to which Thor said was fine. He never told us that we would have to pay full for the change in drinks. It wasn't until we were getting ready to leave and pay the bill that we noticed we were charged for our drinks which, I'm fine with but I would have liked to have known ahead of time, especially considering that we were also entitled to our complimentary drinks that we never got a chance to get. It's always best to be completely upfront with diners and ensure no miscommunication.

Good food, friendly, nice atmosphere, a bit pricey for what it is--when I stick with the burgers I'm always happy

Aww, man! Slimy lettuce? C'mon! Ordered Lobster roll and brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were delicious, I'll albeit completely unhealthy. I was sort of in an unhealthy mood and was expecting french fries like the picture on Yelp, but got a salad with the lobster roll and embraced the healthier choice until I saw half the salad was sad with slime

After a long time walking around the fabulous Cloisters, we dropped in on this place conveniently located on the way to the subway station. Our experience could not have been nicer: friendly service, good beer, good burger, amazing shrimp tacos. The fried pickles were more than two people should handle for an appetizer, but they were really crispy spears. It's been a long time since I was up in that neighborhood and I hope this place is still there when I get back there.

I've been here a handful of times since they've opened (definitely try their burgers!) and always have a great experience. This past weekend, I finally got to try their awesome brunch which was bottomless with any entree for an additional $19 for 90 minutes. If you don't want to indulge, they also offer one complimentary drink with your entree. I ordered the French toast with a side of sausage. The food was great, sausage was really juicy and full of flavor. The French toast was light and fluffy and came with powdered sugar and some fruits. It definitely wasn't super filling so I would recommend going with some of the other dishes. My friend got the BEC and really enjoyed that. Service was attentive and we definitely drank our $19 worth. Definitely my new go-to for when I don't feel like traveling far for a good brunch. One thing to note, there were A LOT of babies/small children around. I wouldn't have minded much if the parents hadn't kept giving us funny looks. It's totally my right to have a good time at a bar that serves bottomless brunch! But the staff never made us feel unwelcome and I really appreciated that.

Came here to have a great time for their Halloween event to get told and cursed out " shut the f*** " by one of their customers. One of them was a male and I was also harassed by 2 other females who tried to get in my face. Not to mention one of them threw a drink at my face. I didn't know having a conversation with someone was illegal. I was asked to leave and the aggressors got to stay. I have never felt so humiliated and assaulted ever in my life. The manager tried to avoid me. When I finally was able to get a hold of her outside to ask why I was kicked out and they got to stay she answered, " Because their brother is performing tonight ". If I was getting kicked out, so should have they for being so disgusting towards me. Such a lame excuse and they definitely failed to create a safe environment and protect certain people due to skin color in my opinion. The only decent person who treated me professionally was the bouncer who kindly escorted me. I will be filing a complaint and make sure everyone knows about this situation.

This classic pub has a great selection of beers and drinks, and the food is tasty. More importantly, there are multiple vegetarian options! We love the vegan "wings," and the other fried pub snacks (onion rings, fried pickles) are hot and well done, not greasy cold afterthoughts. I also really appreciate the servers who didn't neglect us as we sat stubbornly in the chilly weather. (Still not ready to eat indoors, personally.) We'll definitely be back for brunch after walks in the park this spring.

Literally adore this place for brunch. The apple codar mimosa? Chef kiss. The food is always hot, served quick, and tidy. Filling and enjoyable. Drinks are strong and the football games are on! The energy is exciting, watching the fans gather for a Sunday brunch. Check this place out! They have specials during the week as well! I've popped by for the tacos and a pomegranate spin on a Margherita! Will be heading back soon even though I'm not in inwood as much as I use to be.
