I rarely go out to eat, because I like cooking; but every few years I look for bbq place around me, just to check the landscape.
I purchased the 2 meat platter, brisket and sausage. As someone who grew up in Texas, I loved good smoked meats, so that was my first taste. While it didn't have the strong smoke flavor I grew up with, it was very good and the meat was tender.
The Andouille sausage was also authentic. Be aware, that means spicy. Excellent flavor.
It came with two sauces. Again, coming from Texas (long ago...), I don't have much use for those with red meat, so it didn't surprise me that the red did nothing for me. However, the mustard sauce was excellent with the sausage. The guy I talked with while waiting said he was from SC, and they're known for their mustard sauces, so that was no surprise.
The sides were slaw and cheesy corn. I like slaw with a bit of a vinegar bite. While it was cut with mayo, the bite was there and the cabbage was fresh and crunchy. I don't ever remember having cheesy corn, but I lie corn. I thought there was too much cheese and too little corn, but the mix was great and the spices/bacon with it worked well.
I'm very pleased. Some day I'll drive there rather than ride, so I can try what looks like a nice assortment of beer.
