Just moved in to a tiny new apartment. Hadn't really bought a 'nice' couch before, but now that I'm "adulting" with a real job and a living space with just me and my fiance, I decided it was time to get a comfy couch that'd last a while. It's a big purchase for me, so I planned a whole day of it over Memorial weekend, had like five different spots picked out to go to, wanted to be super thorough, all that. Tu Casa was first on the list.
I have to admit, I almost didn't go in because of the location. It's in a kind of sketchy part of town, and was a tiny bit hard to find from the street, and I had a long list of other places to get to.
Anyway, we find it and go in because it looked like they had a good selection and were greeted warmly by Danny. Fiance and I walked around for a bit and started chatting with Danny about what we needed. Our apartment is tiny and I had resigned myself to a loveseat. Told Danny as much and he gently guides us to the front window, where he shows us his own special creation. It's a small (like 55" wide, maybe bigger) couch WITH a movable chaise, all the cushion covers are removable, and it's comfy! Amazing, exactly what we needed. Falls perfectly in between a loveseat and a full-on family sized couch. I didn't think something like this existed.
And then--since it's his demo (?not sure if right word)--we get to pick out the fabric the couch is made of! I'm a sewer and creative type, fiance is a painter, so this is awesome. Since it's custom, it does take a couple weeks, which is a fair trade-off IMO. Danny was super patient as fiance and I argued over colors, gave us a great discount, and was flexible on delivery (I live pretty far away in the boonies, and he still delivered).
We didn't end up going anywhere else, and my long day of furniture shopping turned into a lazy day gardening, and now, two weeks later, I am writing this from my fabulous purple couch with matching throw pillows.
