"Our crawl begins at Tuhama’s, a cozy spot with a walk-up counter and spinning vertical rotisseries in the kitchen. After a brief wait, the shawarma arrive tightly wrapped in white paper with a black plastic basket. The shawarma at Tahuma’s hit a lot of the right notes, from the crisp, tart pickles to the just-right-amount-of-garlic sauce that packs a potent punch by itself. It’s also the ideal ratio of ingredients with a nicely crisped pita that doesn’t disintegrate in your hands. The sandwiches earn high marks for structure. While extremely flavorful, the chicken is a tad dry and could’ve been helped by just a touch more sauce, but overall we’re satisfied and it becomes the standard for comparison for subsequent shawarma on this crawl." - Dorothy Hernandez

I was very sad my chicken burger I usually order is now fried… I wish he asked me whether I wanted a fried chicken burger or grilled… little pricey also

Tuhamas stood on bidiness. Ain’t much to say. Good food. Good vibe. Good portions. Bad service. Sounds like a good deal.

Google
Great Place came with my Co Workers and loved the food. Especially the chicken shawarma on fresh bread. The seasoning and hospitality of the workers was on point as well. Will definitely come back here to try other food on the menu.

Tuhamas is hands down one of the best sandwich spots in all of Dearborn. They’re not stingy at all ; their prices are amazing for the portions they put into the sandwiches and the place is extremely clean. Customer service is also top tier I’ve never had a bad experience with this place.

Google
This place is so gross and disgusting. The one time I’ve eaten I got food poisoning from it for 2 days, my girlfriend did as well, and we both ordered different items. Not to mention that the building is infested with giant rats and millions of German cockroaches. They leave trash in the alley behind the store overnight, food waste, drinks, anything you can think of. Do not eat here, if you want good food head to the west, far away from this trash restaurant. Edit (in response to the response on my review): No cockroaches or rats? Is that why you tried using spray foam and cement to (very poorly) seal the gaps in the back of your building? I literally have video of rats the size of small dogs running around your back door, eating the trash you leave out there for days at a time. The whole alley is infested with cockroaches in the back and you leave food waste out back for days, it would be impossible for you not to have roaches. Also love that you didn’t mention anything about my partner and I both getting sick within an hour of eating your disgusting food. You must be aware you are making people sick with your poor hygiene and improper stored food. Your workers come out back to smoke cigarettes, eat, and play on their phones, all while wearing gloves (which they don’t even take off before returning to work) they leave sugary drinks and food outside, along with bags of trash and food waste which also attracts the rats and roaches. Since you want to lie in order to trick people to keep buying your disgusting food, I’ve included some pictures of the rats that run around the back of you business eating the trash you leave out at night. I guess your owners are too busy buying themselves luxury cars to care about fixing the cleanliness and hygiene problems you have in your “restaurant”. You literally serve trash to people that makes them sick. I will never eat here again and I suggest everyone reading this review do the same.

Rain or shine, day or night, the owner has been here perfecting these sandwiches for over 30 years. Very generous portions, fresh and fast. You can see them making your sandwich. My go-to is a chicken shawarma on pita, extra pickles, extra garlic, extra toasted.

Google
32 states, dozens of cities, this hole-in-the-wall is hands-down the best Shawarma I've had, it's the closest taste to home possible. Make sure you put fries in your chicken shawarma with extra garlic 🤤 The meat shawarma is juicy, with right amount of tahini, onions tomatoes pickles and parsley, and none of the extra non-shawarma stuff other places use. They're a bit bigger than standard shawarmas so I struggled through to finish the last of the second one, but I emerged victorious and not a bite was wasted 😅

Google
I came here for the first time and I ordered their steak sub. They prepared it on time and it was great. As you can see in the picture I was welcomed with open arms. The guy made funny comments about his picture and made me feel bad for not asking for permission taking the the photos. They seem very friendly. I'm planning to come back to try other items. For now, they just do carry out.

Yelp
Yum! First time trying this place, we were looking for a quick sandwich place for lunch. Everything we ordered was soo good!, Africano, Falafel, Fajita, Chicken shawarma.. highly recommend. The bread is crunchy, fresh, and light..made every sandwich so delicious! The people who worked there are very friendly and helpful even though it was busy! The place itself is small, I'd recommend takeout. Will definitely try again when we're in DB.

Rockwell S.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Unique flavor slightly different than fare of its type ( Syrian roots ) The fattoush salad has a slightly sweeter taste than most but no compromise on flavor & taste. Seasonings are very special to the palate. We came early so it was not too busy then. I would say not a first date place by way of ambiance but the cuisine will more than make up for it. Vegetarian & vegan options too.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
First time here and was welcomed. My son has been wanting to try shawarma for a long time and we made a date of it. We looked for a place with good reviews and this didn't disappoint. The beef shawarma was wonderful. The wrap was a perfect crisp and the flavors great. We also got an order of fries which were perfectly cooked. I will definitely come back here.

Sarah S.

Yelp
We wanted to get quick food and saw the high ratings for this place and tried it. A lot of menu items I had to look up, which is always fun. Seems a fair amount of sausage ( no pork) options. And lamb tongue was on there. I wasn't sure what i would like so I went safe this time. They were really friendly and super patient with us trying to figure it out. Definitely a busy place for locals. Our food was flavorful. I didn't expect pickles on it and they worked! They pack the chicken in, no skimping for sure. There is limited indoor seating. And canned/bottle drinks. Probably more of a takeaway place.

Karim J.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite sandwich shops when I used to live in the Dearborn area. It's in East Dearborn and so not the most attractive or spacious restaurant, but it is more for takeout than dining in. Employees are very courteous and generous with portions. Every sandwich they make is delicious and the bread they use is absolutely amazing no matter what goes between it. Prices have gone up over the years unfortunately, but that's just the reality of the restaurant business.

Maryum H.

Yelp
Maybe it's just me, but I thought their shawarma were alright. I love the prices at Tuhama's but they're not the best imo

Albert T.

Yelp
Tuhama's is a tiny hole-in-the-wall that has some of the best shawarma sandwiches in the area. Both meat and chicken shawarma sandwiches have the perfect balance of meat, sauce (garlic in chicken, tahini in meat), and veggies (pickled cucumbers in chicken, pickled turnips, tomato, onion, parsley in meat). Both are absolutely delicious, I highly recommend any sandwich from here. They recently put the chairs and tables back down, so you can eat in if you desire.

AJ J.

Yelp
Went here consistently while living in Michigan and after moving out of state find myself missing the quality food and genuine people. Look forward their chicken sub when I visit.

Eid F.

Yelp
Last meal on earth... Soujook! On French Bread with some extra crispy Fires from Tahama's I actually don't recommend anyone going to this place... I want it all to myself.

M S.

Yelp
If you are in East Dearborn, COME HERE. We happened to stumble by this place while in the area and were craving shawarmas so we figured we'd give it a try. Upon walking in, both gentleman in the back were so kind and welcoming. We ordered the meat shawarma and the chicken shawarma. The meat shawarma is hands down the best shawarma I have ever had. My brother didn't try his chicken shawarma yet but I will definitely come back here anytime I am in Dearborn.

Hassna M.

Yelp
I loved there shawarma I usually come for business and and I look for halal food to eat. It's the best so far

Aamar H.

Yelp
Hands down best meat shawarma you can get in the area. The place has been around a very long time. They sell out of meat fast, so get try to order earlier rather than later.

Kamal H.

Yelp
Great food & good service. You have to try the Shawarma one of the best in the city.

Hoda A.

Yelp
I took my uncle here last night because he was craving a shawarma sandwich, and Dearborn is loaded with a lot of places that sell them. He travels around the globe a lot and loves coming to Dearborn because of all the amazing food options he has. I haven't been to Tuhama's but I've heard good things about it in the last so I thought I'd give it a go and take him. My uncle ordered a chicken shawarma and was in and out quickly and the price was good. When we got home and he tried it, he said the chicken was lacking in flavor, and after having a bite or two, I was pretty disappointed and embarrassed for taking him somewhere I haven't tried. The sandwich was overloaded with garlic sauce and still tasted bland/ not cooked long enough. We're just going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was because of how late it was that the food quality was affected. I don't think I'll try them again but it was worth a shot

Aya L.

Yelp
Heard so many great things about this place. Heard it was one of those staple Dearborn restaurants. Never got around to trying it until now. I must say, it was really good, butttttt nothing too special. The bread was so toasty which is one reason why I enjoyed it so much. The chicken was good, but not great. The chicken was a little dry, full of flavor. All I did have was a chicken sub, so I can't speak on behalf of the other food. Though I must say, the fries were really delicious. It's good enough where I'd come back, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite chicken sub. It's up there on my top 5. The food was hot, but did take a while considering we dined in. The place is small primarily for takeout but some clean seating areas if you're choosing to dine in. The price is almost unbeatable. Subs come in 1 size and run for 6 bucks. That's definitely one of the cheapest subs around. The great news: the bread is dairy free and so is the chicken. So that definitely will keep me running back. Side note, My family members are big fans of their shawarma sandwiches. So perhaps check those out!

Moe A.

Yelp
I tried their Tuhama's Chicken burger and their meat shawarma and boy was it good! I really loved their meat shawarma more than their chicken burger but they both were delightful. For sure the best meat shawarma I've had. The chicken burger for me was so good too but lacked more flavor. It was too plain and not seasoned enough but tasted still so good. Texture of the chicken was crunchy and moist. The wait does take a little long too but it's worth it.

Hassan S.

Yelp
Horrible place the workers barely speak any English the food is always cold and also the owner seems to hate his job

Fatima A.

Yelp
Always get my carry out for my husband from here. He orders a variety between Falafel Sandwiches, Shawarma sandwiches, as well as Bastarma sandwiches.

Al P.

Yelp
Dearborn's Best Kept Secret This place definitely has the best sandwiches in town. Not too many people out side of Dearborn's Arab American community know about it, but this little hole in the wall restaurant will leave you satisfied and not break your bank.I agree the Shawarma sandwich being huge and great. I'll say it's the best deal to date filled with succulent marinated chicken that melts in your mouth. We been customers over a decade, place always filled with regular customers that truly know the very best in Dearborn. Today had the Mixed Shawarma OMG very best ever truly a must try. She had the Double Damn Patty Tuhumas Burger outstanding flavor. So great to see father n son working side by side, he will carry on the business for decades unlike so many businesses the kids have zero interest. Find them on Facebook, Yelp, Instagram and TripAdvisor. Show this small family business some LOVE.

Rasheeda A.

Yelp
Best sandwiches ever! I highly recommend their Turkey subs and chicken and meat shawarmas.

Ranetta A.

Yelp
My hubby introduced me to this little spot about 3 years ago. They have one the best meat shawarmas in Dearborn. The meat is so juicy and flavorful. Their sauce should be served in a cup so you could drink it! It's a small restaurant so if your not paying attention, you will pass it up (as we did). The prices are also very reasonable! We come by here every chance we get

Jean-Pierre K.

Yelp
It's a hole in the wall but that's what good fast food is like! Don't hesitate to pop in and if you are looking for good shawarma fast food, it is a must! The beef shawarma was excellent; like being in Lebanon at a fast food joint. Chicken shawarma was good and not perfect and hence my 4 stars rating. Chicken was just a bit dry but the garlic paste/sauce makes it, as always, and guess what, you can ask for fries which make it truly a Lebanese street chicken shawarma.... If you are a garlic fanatic you should ask for extra garlic. The owner is just one of the nicest guys and very welcoming. Good job guys at Tuhama's and, keep up the good work!!!

Todd J.

Yelp
One thing I miss living in Hawaii is great shwarma! These guys satisfied my craving right away. I got one beef and one chicken-both meaty and flavor packed. I prefer the beef as they added pickled red onions, tomatoes, cukes and peppers with a perfect amount of sauce. And for only $6!!

Jonathan M.

Yelp
This place gives me such a good home feeling. The service is awesome and the workers are so friendly. One of the workers took his time to talk to us and get to know us. He was very kind and very patient with us even when they were closing. The quality of this food is just amazing.

Rip T.

Yelp
Excellent food overall, especially the sandwiches, but sometimes poor waiting time and estimates are given. Overall, one of the best sub/sandwich/shawarma joints in all of Michigan.

Sam A.

Yelp
Best shawarma in town, chicken cooked just right garlic A1 normally comes with tomatos i asked for none. Got what I wanted A1

Omar S.

Yelp
It's a small restaurant, but it certainly has the flavors. Personally, I think Tuhama's makes one of the best chicken shawarmas, and I highly recommend getting it on French bread. It has all the right components of a chicken shawarma - plenty of garlic sauce, pickles, and lots of chicken trimmed from the spit rotating around the fire. The owner and staff are very hospitable and always make the effort to greet every guest that walks through the door and make them feel welcome. Their menu is easy to navigate and it has a good mixture of the traditional sandwiches along with other sandwich options. If you're going to try one item, let it be the chicken shawarma. It's worth every bite!

Joe B.

Yelp
The best sandwich shop in the state. From my childhood this place has been as consistent as bad weather in Michigan. Soujuk sandwich only exists this way here. Order meat or chicken shawarma on French bread, you're welcome. Think the soupman from Seinfeld, this place is this good. It's the first place I recommend to anyone in the area.

Amal S.

Yelp
amazing experience & brought family and friends when visiting Michigan, and it was a great overall value for the food.

Eve H.

Yelp
Very impressed! Chicken shawarma sandwich is exceptional. Fries are delicious. OK I can't stress enough how good the chicken shawarma sandwich is.

Leo Y.

Yelp
It's just insane how inexpensive and amazing this place is. Most items are under $5, the service is excellent, and everything is delicious. There's so much choice, that it's necessary to come back a few times to try everything. I tried Soujouk for the first time, never even heard of it before, and it was delicious, with a decent kick to it.

John C.

Yelp
Wow! This is truly is the best sandwich in Dearborn. The place lacks ambience but has the great food to make up for this. It's mainly a carry out sandwich, place. The chicken burger is too die for . The chicken Schwarmas are a 10. The owner cooks them while you wait and the wait can be long because the locals are aware of the fine sandwiches that he makes. The fries are cooked to a crispy taste. Go there!

Alina A.

Yelp
If you are craving American-middle eastern food than this place us for you. It serves burgers, shawarma's, and middle eastern entrees. The prices are quite reasonable. My families favorite is tuhama's burger for $7:50 which comes with fries as well. The place from inside is small and can seat about 20 people at the most.

Moe M.

Yelp
I'm sorry. What's everyone so excited about? I had a horrible experience a few years back when I found hair multiple times in my food. I decided to give this place another shot since multiple people have recommended I'd give them another try. The food sucks... bland and dry. I had a crispy chicken burger that was so dry and the buns not even toasted that the coleslaw made it soggy. And in all honesty, why do some places still serve frozen fries??? They're nasty. The only reason this place did not get 1 star is because they were professional and clean. If you think this is good food then I'm sorry to say that you don't know what good food is or never had good food. Price is reasonable I'll give them that.

Sam M.

Yelp
Omg ... this place is amazing !!! If you have not tried Tuhamas your life is filled with misery and regret for Sure. I used to be angry and upset but this place saved my marriage. Highly recommend coming here!!

Hameed A.

Yelp
Each shawarma sandwich was $6 which is pricy for Dearborn but the sandwich was very good. Great taste.

Yahya F.

Yelp
Limited subs but oh my God their chicken burgers is heaven. I like the place and I like the stuff. Very generous with the food

Tutu A.

Yelp
I haven't been to this establishment in years so I thought I would give it another shot. Listen, I know they make some mean sandwiches but that doesn't give the cooks/manager/owner or whoever, the right to have a stick up their bottom when you're placing an order. Their world comes crashing down if you ask for extra garlic sauce on the side. They act as if I drained their bank account. You should be grateful that your business is running well. I'm going to make sure my family and friends take their business anywhere else but here.

M D.

Yelp
Coming back for visit , food not the same as before and bread was stale, sandwich empty and no flavor even their signature sausage sandwich. Not to mention staff very unprofessional. Very bad experience overall.

Amy C.

Yelp
Had the Chicken Shawarma on French bread as recommended from another viewer and they were absolutely correct! The toasted French bread with garlic sauce, pickles and chicken was just phenomenal. Had the spicy Cajun fries on the side and a Pepsi and it completely rounded out my meal. Had it ready for me to-go in about 10 min as promised and kept customers to a max of 5 with masks in the small space -thank you!!! Will be back

Andy K.

Yelp
Called and had a decent sized to-go order and they had it ready in no time at all! The food was fresh, tasty and ready to go when I got there. They were pretty busy but the staff was so nice, packed up everything conveniently and were so appreciative. Highly recommend, will make it a regular spot now.

Only Honest Reviews F.

Yelp
Horrible service!!!!! Placed an order and was told 25 minutes, upon arrival they changed it to 45 minutes due to being busy, this I understand but they denied ever stating 25 minutes and inferred i was lying. Last time i come here!!!

Mohamad H.

Yelp
Sandwiches here are really really good, only problem is employees have attitude. So your service is going too be bad. Probably from hogs busy they usually are. That doesn't stop me from getting they're Lamb Tongue sandwich!!! Must try!!

Osama J.

Yelp
The shawarma meat is clean, tasty and spiced well, and the meat amount in the wrap is very generous. Loved their sandwich, although it's a little dry in the center, so it can use a bit more of the yummy grease/oil drippings from the shawarma spit. You can order a side of garlic sauce for dipping to moisten your bites. Be prepared tho, their toum is pretty spicy, though I like it that way so it didn't bother me.

Hass A.

Yelp
I had the whole chicken sub no tomatoes with cheese. Best sub ive ever had i love you

Hira A.

Yelp
Get the chicken shawarma on french bread - you won't regret it!

Kelli W.

Yelp
The best shwarma I've EVER had. Pure. Authentic. Straight up yummy. Worth an hour drive.

Andrea H.

Yelp
Love the sandwiches here! Better than any other restaurant or Arab Bakery that serves pita wrapped sandwiches. I love that they give you more meat than the other places. I would recommend calling in your order first and it will be ready when you arrive, or be willing to wait about 15 to 20 mins for your order. My favorite recommendation is the Chicken Sharma! Reasonable prices. Oh, and I forgot...I just live across the street from here, so it's super easy for me to get to. :)

Lynne S.

Yelp
This is a great little spot on Warren that cranks out delicious food. They have a few booths and there's usually soccer on TV, with a steady stream of regulars coming in and out with their called-ahead orders at lunchtime. Chicken shawarma is excellent, with soft pita bread and extra zesty garlic sauce. They aren't shy with it that's for sure. Tasty pickles inside too! The falafel was particularly excellent, with little soft green chickpea falafels wrapped up with a delicious tahini sauce. The falafels were really savory, with a slight bitterness that was lovely. They are wrapped pretty well so they don't totally fall apart when you eat them, although I would still recommend taking off your scarf because you never really know when tahini sauce will strike. I'll be back.

Jojo M.

Yelp
Best place hands down at least used to be back in the day I'm 17 now I used to live here like this was my 2nd home I used to know all the workers and they used to treat me like family now everyone changed the workers I used to know are no longer their so now I don't go their as much anymore but still by far one of the best sandwich places in Dearborn ever
