"Tulsi is just a fast-casual restaurant in the same way that a wolverine is just an animal. It’s technically true, but there’s a lot more exciting context than that. This Indian mini-chain has four locations across LA, and it’s officially where you should be getting lunch in DTLA or a quick dinner in Westwood. Their counter-service dining rooms look like a Sweetgreen, but the food here is much more exciting than overdressed kale—Tulsi offers a solid array of Northern, Southern, and Western Indian dishes that almost all cost less than $15. The specialty is their gunpowder masala dosa, filled with soft potatoes dusted in spicy dry chilis and served with lentil-studded sambar. We had Masala Dosa and Chicken Tikka Tacos at Tulsi, and the food was delightful, especially the Masala Dosa. It’s not easy to find a well-made dosa, but this one was spot on. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for quality Indian food in downtown LA.

I visited LA for 6 days. On the first day when i was finding restaurant, I finally got this one on Google Map and i was happy because it is only Vegetarian restaurant and offers all India food. When i visited it, it was awesome. The food was scrumptious 😋. I visited this only Indian restaurant in my trip to LA for four times.

Striaght out of India - Excellent dosa and authentic Indian "Street Food" in a lively and modern setting. Prices are very reasonable and the food is fresh and spiced incredibly well. A must visit in DTLA.

What an experience! This Indian restaurant is a true gem in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. I’m not vegan but I sure as hell enjoyed every single dish brought out to me. Everything was savory and full of flavor. The food was seasoned well and very filling. I wish I could have finished it all. The sliders and the tacos are delicious and really surprised me how good they were. The 2 curry combo is phenomenal and a must if you visit. Check them out and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Lots of tables were left uncleaned with smelling dishes. Eggplant curry had more oil floating than any curry. Pan lassi was also bad. The portion size in thali was very less. No waiter all self service. Overall worst Indian restaurant I have been to.

Please note: this restaurant is no longer vegan or vegetarian! However they do have vegetarian and a few vegan options. The two and three curry combinations, which also come with choice of soup and choice of bread, are a good deal. The food was a bit too salty but good overall. If you have a limited time, I suggest ordering ahead of time, even if you are dining in. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

We were visiting the Los Angeles Downtown and stopped by for the lunch. It was very quiet and no customers at all. This is not a fine dining or romantic place but like a Picadelly counter order and pick up the food at the counter. The service was horrible and not a friendly. I am Indian and plus cook my food for 50 years. So, I know my food. The food was not freshly cooked except Bhatura. All other curries maybe week or more old and frozen. Not a clean place and the restroom was not serviced for long time. Unfortunately, when we eat Indian food requires to wash hand before and after. Many items on the menu wasn’t available.

Had good foood! The spice level is not like indian spice level but thats understood. We are in LA!!! Manchurians were good! Crispy good! Combo are good deals worth it! Bhel was also nice! The bowl in which the bhel was served gave the same look as you get in bombay!
