How Much Can Elevated Street Food Capture the Original Inspiration? | Eater

"A legendary Lucknow kebab shop credited with perfecting the galouti (or “tunday”) kebab, it traces its origins to a 19th- and early-20th-century royal culinary tradition created for toothless nawabs who needed an ultra-tender, minutely minced patty. Founded in the early 1900s by Haji Murad Ali, the shop popularized a famously guarded spice blend and a theatrical one-armed preparation method—so revered that some kebab-makers form patties with one arm behind their back in homage—and remains the touchstone for authentic galouti, to the point that chefs from the shop are sought internationally to reproduce the dish." - Jaya Saxena

Jazba Is the New Restaurant From One of the Country’s First Michelin-Starred Indian Spots - Eater NY

"In one case, to make the restaurant’s aminabad ke galouti, Bhardwaj poached a former employee of Tunday Kababi, a famous dhaba in Lucknow, to learn how to make it." - Luke Fortney

If you're in Lucknow, Tunday Kababi is an absolute must-visit! This legendary eatery serves the most delicious Galouti Kebabs, which simply melt in your mouth. The rich flavors, authentic spices, and soft texture make them unforgettable. Apart from the kebabs, the mutton and chicken dishes are equally flavorful and cooked to perfection. The parathas complement the kebabs beautifully. The ambiance is simple but packed with history, and the aroma of sizzling kebabs fills the air. The staff service is very fast, ensuring you don’t have to wait long for your food. However, make sure to visit before 10 PM, as it gets extremely crowded after that. Service is quick, prices are affordable, and the taste is unparalleled. Whether you're a tourist or a local, Tunday Kababi never disappoints. Highly recommended!

Yes its worth the hype place. Have been there twice and loved their food and prompt service irrespective of the crowd on any regular day. PS: I would vouch for their kebabs and parathas, as I have eaten better biryani's with other brands in Lucknow itself. The legacy is the mouth melting kebabs. For your Lucknow trip this is a must try. Also they do have Veg kebabs also as option, check with restaurant on availability.

While on a business trip, I visited this place to try out the food. I tried out the Galouti kebab and it was orgasmic! The taste, the texture, and they way it just melted in the mouth was mind blowing. The rumali roti and salad that came along with it, rather than numbing the taste, actually enhanced the flavors.. the atmosphere is crowded, untidy and sometimes dirty, I guess because the crowd. Service was super fast though!

“Tunday Kababi truly delivered an unforgettable culinary experience. Traveling over 2000 km from the south to try the famous Awadh biryani was completely worth it—simple, aromatic, and packed with authentic flavors. The galaouti kebabs were a masterpiece, so soft and flavorful that they melted in the mouth. The roasted chicken was well cooked and spiced, and the kheer was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. A must-visit for anyone seeking the essence of Awadhi cuisine!” I only deducted 1 star for atmosphere as they’re always crowded even the streets. The price paid for being too good.

Very Disappointing Experience at Tundey Kababi, Lucknow I had high expectations for Tundey Kababi, but sadly, my experience was far from positive. The biryani was served cold, lacked any flavor, and both the mutton and rice were poorly cooked. The service was abysmal — the waiter was unprofessional and inattentive. On top of that, the washroom was extremely unhygienic and filthy, which only added to the negative experience. The Galouti kebab was almost burnt and tasted nothing like what I expected. Overall, it was one of the most overrated places in Lucknow. I will not be recommending this to anyone and definitely won't be returning. A major letdown!

Went to the famous Tunday Kababi at Aminabad, as we wanted to try out the original joint. Access is not easy. Best to take an autorickshaw to the place. Don't attempt with your own vehicle, as there's no parking. The place is famous for sure, considering the number of celebrities who have visited and have their photos on the wall. We tried the mutton Galawati kababs (4 pcs @ 160/-), mutton biryani half plate (200/-) along with sheermal and rumali roti. The Kababs were 'melt in the mouth', as promised, but did not score high on taste. The mutton biriyani was below par in taste, although the pieces were good and okay. The rumali roti and the sheermal were okay. Maybe we are not used to Awadhi cuisine. Definitely worth a visit, if you love non vegetarian fare, so that you can, at the least, claim that you've tried kababs at Tunday. The place has enough seating arrangements and we found a table without much issue, at around 1300 in the afternoon.

The food was delicious. The restaurant is located right inside the market, and the market was extremely crowded. After entering the restaurant, you have to go either upstairs or downstairs (below the ground seating area). The service time was soo long. They have card payment and online payment options, but both were not working there due to their network issues. So carry cash for payment, as it is very difficult to find ATMs in that crowded market. There is no parking space, we parked our car at the railway station parking area which is about 2 km away from the market.
