Came here with some friends for dinner on Saturday night. We ordered the Triumph Menu. It was a pretty pricey menu and hence we had pretty high standards.
Service and ambience here is excellent. The presentation was delightful too. Unfortunately, the dishes were not great.
Pan-fried Hokkaido Scallops served with Parsley, Ginger and Spring Onions Sauce - Scallops were overcooked, especially at the sides. It could have been better with 20 seconds less searing on each side. Gordon Ramsay would definitely have rejected it.
Peking Duck - The duck was okay, but the pancake skin was a little too large as the duck skin slices were pretty small. Hence, there is reduced satisfaction from the crunch due to excessive pancake skin.
Braised Superior Shark's Fin with freshly-peeled crab meat in Noble 'Tanfu' style Broth - To be honest, I'm pretty against Shark's Fin but since this dish was served, I gave it a try (or it would have gone to waste... I know I know, horrible!!). Anyway, the broth was definitely very good, thick and savory, though slightly too salty.
Steamed Catch of the Day with Sweet Preserved Vegetables - Fish was overcooked :( I do like the yam puree lining the plate though.
Roasted Beef Ribs with Homemade Sauce - Once again, beef was overcooked :( Would have done better if it wasnt well-done.
Poached Udon Noodles with King Prawns - Soup was great. Prawn was fresh. Good dish, but we were too stuffed by this time to enjoy.
Coconut Jelly topped with Crispy Forbidden Rice and Coconut Ice-cream - Best dish of the night. Highly recommended.
The ingredients served were definitely high quality. Unfortunately, the cooking was subpar :( If I came back here again, the dessert would probably be the only dish I'd order.
