NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"The newest destination for Detroit-style pizza in NYC is Turbo Pizza Bar, a Bushwick bar where you can pair your pepperoni pie with some buffalo wings or a wedge salad, and wash it all down with a house dirty martini, or a $9 beer-and-shot combo. They also have a takeout slice window that’s open until 4am, so keep this place in mind after a night out." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Penny and Claud Owners Are Opening a New East Village Wine Bar | Eater NY

"Now open in Bushwick, this casual hangout serves Detroit-style pizza and wings and even features a pool table, creating a very laid-back, social atmosphere. Brothers Max and Spencer Nelson—who run the nearby bar 101 Wilson—are behind the concept, and Chef John True, who spent over 13 years at Roberta’s, is in the kitchen." - Emma Orlow

Pencil Factory, a Greenpoint Dive Bar of 25 Years, Is Closing | Eater NY

"A planned Detroit-style pizzeria from brothers Max and Spencer Nelson and friend Jordan Dubey (who together own the Bushwick dive bar 101 Wilson). While the team acknowledges other players like Ace’s doing Detroit-style pizza in the city, they felt Bushwick deserved a taste. Dan Grossman, a L’Industrie and Roberta’s alum who also just opened Confidant in Industry City, consulted on their dough recipe. Chef and partner John Dewine, whose résumé includes Carbone, Dirty French, Nobu, and Indian Accent, will lead the kitchen. The project is targeting a May debut at 1540 Dekalb Avenue (at Irving Avenue)." - Emma Orlow

DAMN! This is undoubtedly the best slice in the neighborhood. 10/10 Can’t wait to come back with some friends for a night. Super cool room.. Pool table.. good music.. lovely staff. Such a great addition to the neighborhood!!!

Google
This spot is an absolute gem. The Detroit-style pizza is out of this world — perfectly crispy edges, fluffy dough, and insanely flavorful toppings. You can tell they care about quality and getting it right. The vibe inside is just as good as the food — cool, laid-back, and super welcoming. Whether you’re grabbing a quick slice or hanging out with friends over a whole pie, it hits every time. Alreadyobsessed! Will most definitely be a regular!

Saw some mixed initial reviews online but I think it's pretty solid. Pizza is pretty good for the price, $9 gets you 2 big pepperoni slices. Even the smallest order of 2 slices gets you 1 whole pizza (surrounded on all sides by crispy mozzarella) The crust is tall/hearty/filling (some may consider it too much crust), my pepperoni slice had lots of cheese, it could have used a bit more sauce (subjective). Fried ravioli was good, but IMO could have used a bit more salt (maybe seasoning in general in the cheese filling). Would like to try the wings and salad next time. The food was a bit slow in my experience (wed night), took maybe 20-30 minutes, maybe because each pizza is made to order? Definitely 100% looks / feels like a bar inside, not a restaurant, but the food is good enough that I would still go for just food (especially on a weekday)

Google
I was excited to try Turbo as we always need new Detroit style pizza spots in NY & especially in Bushwick. However I think this place should be called “Turbo Bar” as it’s more of a bar in the style of Birdys (wood paneling and pool table) than a pizza restaurant. Also if Turbo is meant to imply some type of speed in pizza delivery that falls flat too as it took about 30 mins. And when it did arrive it wasn’t particularly hot. So the how was the pizza? Well it was fine… just fine. Good if you’ve had a few while drinking and need some food but not great reason to visit otherwise. Now this place is very new and I’m sure a few of these kinks will sort themselves out but even then I don’t know if the product is worth the walk or the price point 6 squares being about $41.

Google
New bar serving Detroit style pizza in Bushwick. Was looking forward to coming here and wanted to rate it higher, but was unfortunately disappointed. Overall the pizza was too salty (likely from the caramelized cheese crust) and lacked enough sauce and cheese to balance out the saltiness. For around $7 a slice after tips, there are better pizza options out there. If you do come for the pizza, it’s probably best enjoyed with a beer to wash out the salt. The vibe is alright too. Similar to an old school bar. There’s limited seating though and no tables large enough for beyond four ppl so not suitable for large parties either.

Google
New Detroit Style pizza spot in Bushwick, definitely some of the best Detroit Style I’ve had in New York. Hope these guys are around for awhile, can definitely see myself being a regular here. Worth the wait, they get busy so plan accordingly - don’t get your feelings hurt and leave a negative review with no photos 🤷‍♂️

Yelp
Pizza is weak. Vodka slice had barely any sauce and cheese sat dully on top. Wings are frozen and not great quality. Go here to drink and then when you're wasted the food be fine. I'm a stoner so this is saying a lot but the bartenders are so high it's hard to get their attention. The crowd sitting at the bar all seems to be friends of the bartenders and they are very clicky not friendly. Management needs to decide if this is a clubhouse or going to be a successful business.

Yelp
Tubrbo Pizza is a Detroit-style pizza bar that is in the Bushwick area. Their menu offers small (2 slices), medium (6 slices), or large (8 slices) orders, with choices including Cheese, Pepperoni, Vodka, Supreme, Buffalo Chicken, Hawaiian, Mushroom, Onion & Chive, and Burrata Soppressata. They also have salads (Caesar, Garden, and Wedge), Wings (Buffalo, Teriyaki, and Garlic Pesto), and add-ons of toppings. Drink options are plenty, which includes beef, non-alcoholic and regular cocktails, and wine. We picked up Smalls of the following: +Vodka - with vodka sauce and basil +Buffalo Chicken - with buffalo sauce, chicken, celery, blue cheese, and red & green onions +Mushroom - with crimini, shiitake, sage, and ricotta; great for any mushroom lover +the Onion & Chive - with white onions, taleggio, and chives We also tried their Garlic Pesto wings, which comes with 6 to an order. Staff were friendly and sweet, and all our orders came out piping hot and tasty. Note that they will have delivery options soon! +Detroit-style slices +friendly staff +delivery option coming soon

Yelp
I'm so glad this place opened, love everything about it. First off anyone saying the pizza is not good is absolutely wrong! We had one mushroom with delicious ricotta cheese, and pepperoni, both perfectly cooked. The pizza is amazing and they have so many choices. I can't wait to go back and try everything else. Friendly staff and spacious bar with lots of seating and booths.
