6/20/2023 was a slow day where neither me or Shana did much, just a normal day.
6/21/2023 lead us to add another chapter in ATX BurgerQuest!! Shana had found this place quite some time ago, but we had not had a chance to visit until this day.
We headed on this quest in our Kia and headed off to Burnet Road, it was not hard to find beyond the construction and when we reach our destination comes the first challenge in trying to park, as anyone who lives in Austin, Texas knows firsthand.
Turnstile has two buildings, one a standalone drive thru where I think you can only order drinks and pastries. The second building has dining both inside and outside and we found the LAST parking spot and went inside as outside the temperature was in the triple digits so no thank you.
The dining establishment was smaller on the inside with only a few tables, the bar, and a long shelf attached to the wall by the windows where you can sit and eat. Both inside and outside have a large cold-water dispenser so you can refill the water as often as you need, and you will as hot as it is.
As we were on a quest, we started with the alcohol menu to inbibe their unique cocktails! We, of course, choose each other's drinks. As Shana has been wondering about Gin drinks, I choose The Last Word as she is a storyteller which she really enjoyed. She chooses the Bourbon Renewal for me and it was quite good.
They have a full bar, which has coffee drinks and super rare in Austin, hot alcoholic drinks so a huge plus.
There was one guy running the place when we were there and every table was taken besides one, the bar had 2 to 3 people at it. The guy running the place, taking the orders, making the drinks, seem to know several of the people there and others who came in. He was quite fast considering he was doing most of the work.
We got one basket of fries for the both of us and she wanted the Lexington but they were unable to make that, so she went with her 2nd option of the namesake burger, The Turnstile and I got the Standard bacon and cheese. The bacon was crisp and tasty, the burger was seasoned and cooked well. Shana loved hers as well, there will be a picture of the menu and you can see the burgers we ordered listed.
Both were very good, but the fries were even better. This was a great find and the food was fantastic. I am glad our path brought us here and we will return one day when our quests and travels bring us back this way.
Now satisfied and hunger sated, we had conquered another ATX burger place and are happy we did so. You should check it out.
