The 6 Best Uyghur Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"A warm, comforting meat and onion pastry for chilly winter days, a cold, refreshing noodle salad for the warmer ones, and steamed lamb dumplings for all the times in between. Turpan is perfect for anytime you need a homely meal in central. A small Uyghur spot on Great Russell Street, it’s the kind of casual place you pop into after work with a group of friends to split a big plate chicken (which by the way is big), or on your own to inhale a plate of thick leghmen noodles while scrolling through Twitter. It matters less how you use this restaurant and more that you finish with the nutty honey cake and tea when you do." - jake missing, rianne shlebak

The Best Halal Restaurants in London | Where to Eat Halal in London | Eater London

"Turpan is a pleasant respite from the hell that has become Tottenham Court Road/New Oxford Street. Located on the somewhat quieter Great Russell Street, Turpan is a Uyghur restaurant serving up the increasingly familiar dishes of “big plate chicken,” leghmen, and lamb polu to proudly savvy Londoners. If the time is available, the usually-less-than 25 minute wait for the pitir manta, hefty, fragrant steamed lamb dumplings is worth it, as are the cumin lamb skewers and cold, marinated beef tongue slices. If the weather is friendly, try sitting outside." - Maazin Buhari

The Best Dishes in London Restaurants This Week, By Eater Writers | Eater London

"Pashaq — lambs’ trotters — are rendered joyful rather than tedious: five feet joined by gelatinous collagen that fall off the bone, each little joint to be sucked clean of a savoury, spicy sauce; the leftover sauce becomes ideal for dunking an escalope sandwich, creating a memorable Uighur-Italian hybrid experience in an oddly transitional cafe setting." - Daisy Meager

It's a clean and cute restaurant run by a family. I like the carrot salad which is quite salty and flavored. The lamb rice is good, not too oily, and it has raisins and carrots inside which makes it very healthy. The diced noodles is amazing, the bell peppers are tasty in this dish, and the noodles are very soft. The lamb skewers are a bit chewy but the spice is perfect. The milk tea is not too salty. If you eat rice pudding first, then have the milk tea, it tastes even better. I recommend this restaurant and I would like to come back here in the future.

Went to this Uyghur place by the British Museum today, really happy with the meal. I had the samsa (baked buns) and the polu (rice with lamb). The samsa had a nice crispy outside and juicy, well-spiced lamb inside. The polu was hearty – tender lamb with sweet carrots and raisins mixed into the rice. Simple, tasty, and filling. The owner was friendly, and at the end, offered me a small dessert on the house. It was a light, yoghurt-based pudding, a really nice way to finish. It’s a solid, genuine place with good food and kind service. If you’re in the area and want something different, I’d definitely recommend it. Will probably go back to try their laghman.

I had a beef tongue salad and Uyghur rice pudding. Both tasted wonderful! The Uyghur beef tongue salad does come with quite a strong balsamic vinegar taste so if that’s not your thing, perhaps ask if the dressing can be slightly reduced. The rice pudding is so unique! Very cinnamony and thick, silky and creamy. Will be coming here again! Also - the drinks are cheap (I got Ayran for £2.50) and the service is great. My waiter was very friendly and helpful ☺️.

Out of the way place but worth it!. We had the lamb soup - oh my what a treat! I'd got there just for that. Mains were lamb flat bread - it was nice but could do with more spice. The dumplings were amazing with the chilli oil. We had warm milky tea to finish. We were also given a complimentary rice pudding - I don't normally like it - but wow what a treat!!. Definitely will go again & try more of the menu. 👌 Worth the wait for the food as it's hot & fresh. Do go & try it. The young waiter was really knowledgeable & helpful in food choices.

I recently visited Turpan Uyghur Restaurant - what a hidden gem! The food is authentic, flavorful, and made with care. Highlights were the Laghmen (hand-pulled noodles perfection), Samsa, and Polu. Cozy, welcoming vibe and genuinely delicious. Highly recommend!

Meal was fantastic and prices were not too shabby. A student discount was greatly appreciated, but wasn’t necessary as the meal deserved its normal price. It was absolutely superb and for my first ever Uyghur meal, it was a perfect way to try it! I included a pic of one of the meals as well as great green tea, plus the history book I was reading haha Bottom Line: Great food and atmosphere, and staff were amazing!

Absolutely loved my experience here and would highly recommend it. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a really comfortable vibe that makes it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The location is also very convenient as it is near the British Museum, making it easy to get to whether you’re coming with family, friends, or on your own. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout, always happy to help and making sure everything was just right without being overwhelming. The restaurant itself was very clean with a nice smell of food in the air. The food was the real highlight, it was absolutely delicious, full of flavour, and clearly made with authentic recipes. I ordered the Chicken Marjan and Pilaf and would absolutely recommend to everyone. Portions were generous without being excessive, so you definitely feel satisfied after eating. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you get, which makes it even better value for money. It’s also great to know that the food is halal, which is a big plus. Overall, this place ticks all the boxes: great atmosphere, excellent service, clean environment, authentic and tasty food, and decent prices. I’ll definitely be coming back

This was our first time trying Uyghur food - such unique and exciting flavour profiles! We ordered Marjan Chop (homemade chopped noodles), Goshnan (bread with minced lamb), Chochure (minced lamb ravioli with soup), and lamb and chicken skewers. The spices in all the dishes were incredible - we especially loved the lamb skewers! The Chochure soup was outstanding as well - we spent ages trying to figure out what ingredients created such amazing flavours.
