The Best Donuts In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This family-run spot in the Sunset nails classic donuts, from maple bacon and old fashioneds to chocolate bars and pillowy cinnamon twists. But their creative weekend specials are what keep us coming back—think Bavarian crème brûlée, PB&J, and mochi donuts with colorful glazes. It’s also one of the few spots with vegan options (the one glazed with sweet guava is our go-to). Grab a white chocolate mocha or frappe to wash it all down." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

The Best Doughnut Shops in San Francisco | Eater SF

"During the week, the husband and wife team behind Twisted Donuts & Coffee roll out freshly baked trays of glazed old-fashioneds, bear claws, and apple fritters. But on the weekends, this doughnut shop shows off its “twisted” side, revealing an ulterior menu filled with experimental flavors like Nutty Monkey, Baconpeno, and Milky Way Under A-Salt. The shop has also added in a variety of mochi donuts, if you’re in the mood. Pair these pastries with iced coffee, which is served with coffee ice cubes." - Dianne de Guzman

Been wanting to try at this place for a while and I’m so glad I did. They have a couple of vegan options available daily! The guava doughnut was delicious and is one of my favourite doughnuts now, it has the right balance of sweetness and softness/chewiness, the cinnamon one was pretty good as well. Will be back to try other flavors. Friendly staff too!

Google
The donut was really good, but if you want to get the mochi style, it is only serve on Friday to Sunday. Also need to spend over five then you can use credit card, otherwise you should use the cash.

Went from Spain to sf in a happy trip and always loved to breakfast here. Ambience was fascinating and donuts were always incredibly delicious.

Google
I’m sad to say that the donuts on Thursday morning were disappointing. And I wish I didn’t have to leave anything less than 5 stars. See photo attached. The apple fritter was okay, not my favorite. The two filled donuts (raspberry and blueberry) were just okay. It tasted like one of the boxed “pies” you bought at a Safeway store. Nothing thrilled me about this. The maple glazed donut was also just okay, no great takeaways from this item. The only donut I recommend out of what I got was the blueberry donut with lemon glaze (this was very delicious!) Great customer service, fast service and the employees seem to care about providing this kind of service. Maybe it just takes me coming in a second time to appreciate what they have and perhaps I just didn’t get a fresh batch that morning. Not a huge selection but in the photo, it does look rather delicious. I probably won’t be back, and likely won’t recommend this to others unless it’s your closest option.

Google
Have been getting coffee and donuts from Twisted since they started. Great food. Even better people working there. Always helpful and friendly. The owners Paul and Joyce are the best. Awesome place. Great donuts like their maple bacon. And outstanding specialty donuts like the PB&J or the Fruitirito! My wife love their cream puffs!

Google
The guys behind the counter are great! The guava vegan donut was everything for me. So perfect. Texture of the donut and the barely starting to crisp icing that is sweet and the perfect amount of guava flavor and a snip of citrus perfection. I couldn't get a photo of it uneaten, too delicious.

Google
I'm glad Twisted Coffee and Donuts is not near my 🏠. Otherwise, it would be hard for me from going several times a week! I ordered a few donut and a cream puff. The cream puff w/ Bavarian cream was very delicious! The coconut 🥥raised Guava was my favorite and is offered only on the weekends. As a matter of fact, I don't remember ever eating a Guava flavored donut anywhere else! I pre-ordered on their website online and they text you once it is ready at your specified time for pick up. Social distancing enforced w/ 2 person inside. Hand sanitizers available. Moderate difficulty with street parking.

Google
It's surprisingly hard to find good vegan / dairy free donuts in SF. This place has a selection and they are fantastic. Not overly sweet, soft inside and a bit crispy outside. Sometimes I feel a little off after eating fried food but these things felt decently healthy. I mean, it's still a donut, but maybe they use good oil or other ingredients. I brought them to a party and my friend said they were "gourmet". Hope these folks sell a lot of them and have success.

Yelp
TLDR: Delicious mochi donuts with creative yet not overly sweet flavors on Fri-Sun. Arrive early for best selection, they often sell out well before closing time! Consider calling to ensure stock/pre-order before driving over if you're coming from an opposite corner of the city. They have online ordering, but it doesn't feature every available flavor/type. Longer: After discovering the app Too Good to Go and learning Twisted Donuts was on the list AND my boyfriend's favorite donut shop in the city, we headed to the Sunset the first chance we got (on a Friday). The randomized selection checked all our taste buds' boxes and I sampled many types that we otherwise wouldn't have selected, from vegan to buttermilk to mochi. I don't have a sweet tooth and I'm happy to report these donuts weren't too much for me. They also didn't feel heavy, which is all too common given the whole fried dough thing. I'm very glad I had my boyfriend to share with, as he's sometimes my garbage disposal, so I could have a few bites before he finished the rest XD Just did a little additional research on their website to find they don't even list mochi donuts! Keep in mind (from their website): "On the weekdays, Joyce and Paul feature the classic donuts, which are near and dear to Paul's heart. But on the weekends, things get a little crazy at the donut shop, with specialty donuts including the Nutty Monkey, Berry Crunchy, Baconpeno, S'Mores Galore, PB & J, Lemon Berry, Fruirrito, Pumpkin Fritters, Milky Way Under A-Salt, just to name a few!" The inside of the shop is very basic, a few tables in case you want to dine in. Or do what we did: head to Ocean Beach for a beautiful view to pair with your treats.

Yelp
Ever since my ex-coworker brought me a donut from Twisted Donuts, I'd been so excited to come here. Don't get it twisted, though (pun intended) - I actually first added this place to my list of bookmarks not long after they opened. It's just that, with my usual go-to donut shop somewhat close by, I always default to to heading there instead whenever the mood for a donut strikes. Plus, it's one thing to get excited based off the things you see and hear about a place, it's another when you've actually gotten a chance to sample their goods. And let me tell you - the goods are good! On the surface, it seems like it would be easy for Twisted Donuts to slip under the radar. In middle of the block right off 19th Ave, it's easy for people to zip right by and, unlike so many other donut shops, they don't have a prominent, corner location. However, what they do have is an impressive, and lengthy, roster of donuts to choose from! Along with your classic sort of donuts, like old fashioned, raised, cake, twists, bars, filled, or donut holes, they've also got an interesting mix of more unique offerings, whether it be style (croissant donuts, mochi) and/or flavor, including Thai Tea, Ube, Matcha, Black Sesame, and so many more. -- BACON MAPLE RAISED GLAZED One of the must tries that I came here for and it wasn't too shabby. There was a fair amount of bacon yet this didn't taste very oily/greasy. I also liked that the bacon was super crispy, though, a couple of pieces were close to burnt. -- CHOCOLATE OLD FASHIONED Not as good as my favorite one out there, but pretty solid. Although it felt a bit dense on the inside, the frosting was pretty chocolatey, and the outside of the donut itself had a nice bit of crispiness. -- CHOCOLATE BAR Ehh...not sure if it's because there was a lot of frosting on this, but this tasted sweeter than the others I've tried. If that's the case, it might also be why this seemed to sag/look deflated, especially compared to the Raised Glazed. -- RAISED GLAZED Pretty standard, but in a positive way (it's exactly as you'd expect). The donut had a nice rise to it, the icing wasn't super sugary, and the inside was so soft! -- STRAWBERRY LEMON CAKE This was fine for the most part, but I liked the Berry Lemon one better. The strawberry flavor in this was on the subtle side, unless you happened to get a bite with a lot of strawberry bits in it, but I thought the lemon icing was great! -- LEMON BERRY CAKE This one was great! The taste of the blueberries was a lot stronger and was well complemented by the lemon icing. Yet, perhaps most impressively, the taste of this wasn't overly sweet. -- BLACK SESAME MOCHI DONUT This was terrific! I loved how the black sesame added a nutty flavor, which was a nice way to balance out nay sweetness from the donut. As for the texture, the mochi donuts all had a very nice chewiness to them! -- THAI TEA MOCHI DONUT I liked how pronounced the taste of the Thai tea was, but it didn't have much of the creaminess that I enjoy with Thai tea drinks. Although I did like this one, I thought the Matcha one was better. -- MATCHA MOCHI DONUT Easy to see why the color of this was so green - they sure didn't skimp on the matcha! At the same time, I could see why some folks might not like this, as the taste of the tea is rather assertive (I didn't mind it). -- GUAVA MOCHI DONUT It fell short of my admittedly high hopes, but this was still pretty decent. The taste of the guava was tart, but didn't feel distinctly "guava". That said, the other donuts might have messed with my taste buds (I tried the Thai tea right before this one). Along with their awesome selection of donuts, the other thing that I really like about Twisted Donuts is the staff. Each time I've been, the two guys (owners?) behind the counter have been super welcoming and friendly. My first trip here, they even threw in the raised glaze for free! Really, the only thing I wish was different about this place were the hours, as they close rather early (2PM) compared to most other donut shops. Still, that just means I have to make it a point to come earlier! Donut World will always be my spot for a late night treat, but it looks like Twisted Donuts and their unique offerings just might be my new daytime spot! FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

Yelp
Meh donuts. Not the best and probs wouldn't go back but not the worst. Donuts: 1. Maple donut: best one of the 3 as it was fluffy and had a sugar glaze under the maple flavoring 2. Chocolate donut: absolutely skip. Tasted a bit stale. It wasn't fluffy either and didn't have a sugar glaze all around it. 3. Guava mochi donut: the flavor was WEIRD. It was like eating a trolli peach o candy Logistics: -cash and card accepted -street, metered parking

Yelp
I got a Too Good To Go box with them ($6), and it was filled! They offer some fun flavors and mochi donuts but I didn't get to try them in my box, so I wasn't really blown away but they were solid.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a raised glazed and an old fashioned glazed. Both tasted good and had great texture. Super happy with my donuts. Service was quick. Took it to go.

Yelp
Black sesame mochi donut $3.26. They have so many flavors to choose from (see picture). My second choice would be coconut guava. What a cool combination. They don't have little signs which donut is which. The nice guy at the counter will give you the names. He must have to do this till all the donuts are sold. He is great with kids, The kids like me come in and have him point out each donut. I can read into the kid's minds, should I get the sprinkles or the Maple glaze? This lady took all the chocolate ones. No need to say chocolate any more unless they make more. One lady comes in and they know her by name, Margaret. It's great having neighborhood shops. In time you know your regulars. They got some big tables for you to hang out.

Yelp
Donuts are always killer. The glazed is the best. One of my favorite walks is to twisted. The service is really nice and understanding and has nice chairs and tables inside.

Yelp
Went on a weekend and was politely greeted as we walked in. Apologies for the limited supply as he said there was a rush in the morning. Still plenty to choose from. We opted for the colorful, eight sectioned: - Strawberry Mochi - Passion Fruit Mochi - Thai Tea Mochi Sorry to say that we could not discern the flavors of the donuts from each other as they only tasted like sugar. Additionally, the density of their Mochi donut did not match any of the Mochi Donuts we've had from other shops. We're used to a denser chew while these just had the density of a regular donut. Mochi Light? Tried their Croissant Donut - not a Cronut and sorry to say nothing near a Cronut which should have layers like a croissant while a density of a donut. - Regular & Maple, flavors were right but the textures just didn't meet our expectations for a Cronut. Coconut, Bacon Maple, Coconut Ube, Old Fashioned Glaze,.. donuts were okay. Have I had better, you bet... I have had so many donuts that I might be a honorary Cop. If you go here, stick with the regular donuts as the Mochi Donuts and Cronuts just didn't have the right texture, density, and flavor profile.

Yelp
I've walked by Twisted Donuts a lot but it's always been in the afternoon when they're about to close and I never see anything that really calls out to me. Today I happened to pass by in the morning and I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw "UBE CAKE DONUT" it comes with toasted coconut shreds? Yes please, I'll take two! $3 each these are small but mighty. I love a good cake donut. The ube flavor was on point and that coconut icing with toasted shreds just highlight the entire donut. We need more versions of this ASAP. Service was super nice too. It's a cute little shop if you wanna sit down to enjoy your coffee and treat. Adds a nice vibe to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Picked up some donuts for a kid's playdate after my friend recommended we get some treats from here for breakfast. I did not find street parking right away so I parked in the bank parking lot next door and quickly dropped into Twisted. The place is small and a little dark but the glass case of yummy donuts was nice and brightly lit. My son chose a rainbow (of course) glazed cake donut for himself and his friend, my friend go an ube donut and I got lemon poppyseed (per the suggestion of the owner when I asked for a not too sweet donut). All were good and given the thumbs up by each eater. My lemon poppyseed was tasty without being too sweet and I had a piece of the ube which was nicely balanced out by the coconut. I will be back!

Yelp
Love this place. Their donuts are always fresh and you can find good affordable coffee as well.

Yelp
This place is a great donut spot. There's so much variety here and everything is delicious and fresh. They are super friendly and quick to serve even when there's a line. I love that there's seating inside if you want to enjoy your donut right away :)

Yelp
Friendly local-owned donut shop. I went for a morning walk while in this area and craved a donut. When I walked in, they greeted me quickly and answered my questions about what they had and some fillings in some of their cream puffs and donuts. They also have a good selection of mochi donuts. If you are ever in this area and have a craving for donuts, this is the place.
google avatar

Michele T.

Yelp
This is the place my kids like to go when wanting donuts. Like that they have a large variety to choose from - savory croissants to sweet, vegan, croissant, mochi donuts . . . And so many flavors to choose from. The donuts are light and don't ever taste overly greasy/oily. Good coffees/espresso drinks, too.

Aby ..

Yelp
Parking can be tricky in the area. Donuts are always fresh. Great selection. Been here for regular purchases and through TGTG. The deal for TGTG is great with 10 assorted donuts for $5 and some change.

Gloria J.

Yelp
Got a box of assorted Donut (10 in a box) through Too Good To Go for $6.00. Good deal and fresh donuts. Great variety, I got the mochi donuts, maple bacon and more. Staff very friendly.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Stopped by after getting home coffee across the street. I love Mochi donuts so thought I'd try a couple. Got the passion fruit and guava. Texture is good like other Mochi donuts I've had. Nice and chewy, but these flavors were completely off to me. Just tasted like sweet frosting and one was more like strawberry. I honestly don't even know which was guava or passion fruit because they didn't taste like either of those :( I've had these exact flavors at other shops before around SoCal and were much much much more strong passion fruit and guava flavors. Maybe the cake donuts would've been better but probably wouldn't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood and parked near this little gem. Since I'm a sucker for donuts and the Yelp reviews for this place are solid, I ventured inside to see what they had. There wasn't a huge selection left as it was around noon. The person who helped me was patient and polite, describing what each donut I pointed to was. There were even vegan donuts available. I decided on the following: Plaiold fashioned (no glaze or sugar) - hubby didn't care for this one as it was really plain Strawberry raised - hubby said he could eat this one daily! Blueberry filled - one of the better jelly filled donuts I've had Now that I found this place, can't wait to come again earlier in the morning when there are more options to choose from. Parking is tough in the area depending on time of day.
google avatar

Charlene F.

Yelp
This has been my go-to donut spot for years. Their donuts are consistently yummy and reasonably priced, compared to other SF donut shops. They have a vast selection of donuts and it's great that they have vegan options. They are the most delicious IMO. The staff is always so friendly too! I also appreciate the option to place an order and pay ahead of time. This place never disappoints! Try it!
google avatar

Priscilla L.

Yelp
Ok my first trip here a year ago I wasn't too impressed with the donuts with only the glazed blueberry donut standing out from my last visit. Visit 2- So the Mochi chocolate donut wasn't perfectly created looked a bit sloppy with the chocolate uneven in some sections. But it has Nice chocolate texture and taste. The light, soft dough was easily to pull apart but I didn't really take a chance to extract one ball at a time because I didn't feel the dough was strong enough to hold together. But it's was quite yummy and wouldn't mind ordering it again. I probably wouldn't order any donuts with fillings, because it didn't stand out to me. Twisted donuts got me on their Ube Donut with coconut, their Blueberry Cake (Glazed) donut and anything with coconut on it. I am normally not a fan of texture of coconut, but with the addition to their donuts, yummy! Give me more!! With every donut shop they have their hits and misses. It's the luck of the draw. All yummy in my tummy. Till next time as I will pick random donuts flavors to see it I like them or not. Overall good place for donuts.
google avatar

Mariam M.

Yelp
Twisted donut was absolutely delicious! I tried their strawberry cake donut which was such a rare find and I'm a huge pan! It's affordable donuts and a wide variety of options. Ambiance was pretty standard for a donut shop, there's no seating options so make sure to plan for a grab and go stop. Service was about standard, no complaints! I look forward to coming back and trying the other donuts they have.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
2.5 stars. Parking is available street side. Came in to check it out and get a couple donuts. By the Yelp page I expected more but it's really an average donut shop. The strawberry and matcha mochi donuts were nothing to write home about. I've had and see better from less frills places and from more hipster donut shops. The service was nice and I appreciated that.
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
You don't have to twist my arm to come here. They have friendly staff and a wide variety of your traditional doughnuts. The chocolate glazed doughnut, old fashioned, peanut topped....they were all fresh and put neatly together in a huge sustainable to go box. What more could you want?
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Donuts were super delicious here. I tried a few different types and they all looked super fancy and definitely premium donuts compared to your traditional ones. The donuts that I tried were: Bacon: The bacon was really good! Perfectly crunchy and freshly cooked pretty much on a regular donut which was good. Blueberry: Strong blueberry flavor. I liked that it wasn't too dense and had a good flavor but wasn't artificial tasting or too strong. Lemon: Excellent lemon flavor again in a light donut. I think this was my favorite one. Chocolate: Standard chocolate donut just like any other place. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, the service was great and they were super nice. Loved the box and presentation the donuts came in. Excellent price.
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly. There are many donut flavors to choose from and they even have vegan options. We got the guava flavor which is one of the vegan options and the chocolate sprinkles. The prices are decent. If you are in the area and want a donut this is a quick stop.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
This place is 10/10. Their leftover donuts are 10/10. Worker is ok. The ambiance is a bit dark inside but I'm not eating there so who cares. Donuts. DONUTS!
google avatar

Joseph A.

Yelp
Quality ingredients bring me back. There are lots of Donut shops in San Francisco so it takes something to stand out, in the case of Twisted it's a mix of invention, quality, and friendly service. Getting to Twisted is easy being that it's located a block off of 19th in the Sunset, plus I have always found street parking across the street which has been nice. As always the staff were personable, and if you come on the weekend the options are myriad. My order consisted of several delectable Cream Puffs that I have eaten, plus a mix of Raised & Cake Donuts that mostly still in the box. Regarding pricing it is reasonable compared to many of the other speciality donut shops in San Francisco, and worthy of checking out.
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
Sorry quite disappointed with the quality (freshness, taste variety) of the donuts. I like to support my neighbourhood businesses but feel in justice, paying $20+ for a traditional dozen donuts nowadays is concerning when, as a connoisseur myself, it's known there is much better for your buck. Stars for not leaving after stepping in
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a good donut! This neighborhood gem and boy am I loving my new neighborhood. Twisted has your usual cake, raised and filled donuts selections. I think their apple fritters are the bomb! What makes me come back are their fun and creative flavors. As soon as I saw the maple bacon donut I knew I had to come here. Being half Filipino and I see Ube on the menu I knew I hit the jackpot. I loved the Ube cake donut as well as the Coconut guava donut. The reason to check out Twisted Donuts, aside from their special flavors during the weekends and holidays it's all the other good stuff on their menu. They also carry the famous mochi donuts. A good donut shop will always have the classics but grows to the needs of their customers. That's why they have been around for awhile now. Run don't walk to Twisted donuts!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
Excellent!!! Donuts if not the best i had something about the dough there using also try there white chocolate mocha it's the best white mocha I think it's better then Starbucks it's smooth doesn't give you that acidic taste

Yelp
"What kind of a moron tries to flush body parts down a toilet...?" - Samuel L. Jackson (Twisted) Many moons ago I was in a movie called Twisted (c2004), starring Ashley Judd and Andy Garcia. A psychological thriller filmed in San Francisco... go check it out and find a young me, albeit Rotten Tomatoes rates it at 1%. So one foggy early morning I find myself in my old hood of the outer Sunset district... Jonesing for a cup of coffee and donuts. Twisted Donuts and Coffee pop-up on my Yelp radar. Oddly I've never ventured to Twisted (the donut shop) before and I've been on Noriega at least a hundred times. Twisted Donuts and Coffee is a popular spot with San Franciscans, unlike the movie Twisted. I mean even Samuel L. Jackson was in it, the movie, not the donut shop. Though for the longest time I thought he was Morpheus in the Matrix, btw props to Laurence Fishburne, aka the real Morpheus. And no, it has nothing with race, as I always get Andy Garcia, Al Pacino, and Ron Silver mixed up. Tho the later been dead since 2009. Maybe I'm just Twisted? Donuts. Ahh donuts. Back to the subject of donuts. I mean what sane person doesn't like donuts, right? And if you're a donut aficionado like I am... you'll go cray on Twisted Donuts and Coffee's selection. How about an Ube donut, maybe a Matcha donut, perhaps a PB&J donut? For me, I decided on the fruity and chose the Coconut Guava and Lemon. Oh my how it paired perfectly with the French Roast. And what sane person doesn't want a hot, sweaty, Ashley Judd... okay, okay I'll.. yea. Yea, this 5-stars review is all about delicious donuts, on point coffee, and the friendliest staff out there, especially the tall, young man with the dreadlocks. Super cool dude. And no, I didn't get him confused with Brad Pitt. In the end, I recommend Twisted Donuts and Coffee if you're into the freshest donuts with amazing coffee! Of course you probably didn't recognize me in the dreary bar scene, but hey at least I had that clip with naked Ashley while eating donuts. If only...
google avatar

Juan V.

Yelp
This is a good place to get a donut on Noriega . A good selection of classic types of donuts. Has my favorite the glaze donut.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday to buy some donut holes and a Turkey croissant. Donut holes were $4/dozen, a bit pricey (said my niece) But she loved the softness and flavor, it was pretty huge compare to the other place we usually go to. The Turkey croissant was amazing!!! I loved how it's a FULL closed croissant instead of cut in the middle. I think it was also $4 and it was worth it.

Fanny ..

Yelp
I love coming to Twisted Donuts & Coffee, not only for their amazing selection of , but their customer service is top notch. They are always friendly and patient while I make my selection. Today, on St. Patrick's Day, I got a bonus donut. (Thank you!) It made my day
google avatar

Yelp
I love stopping here on my morning walk. It's a cute little donut shop. They have plenty of donuts to choose from (both vegan and non-vegan). The workers are friendly and service is quick. I love their double dipped chocolate donuts and my partner loves their vegan lemon donuts.

Yelp
Returning 4 years later for random donuts, got a maple bacon, warriors, raspberry jelly, Apple fritter, chocolate glazed, chocolate sprinkles, glazed old fashioned. I must say, I was more impressed than the last time. I was still just mediocre on the maple bacon, the raised donut part was great, its very airy and soft, I just didnt find the flavor being bacon enough. I've enjoyed the warriors one a lot more than i had expected. Cake donuts are not my thing, and a very obscure blue piece of food, even less likely. I loved the golden crystal sugar on top, which gave it a nice crunch, it was perfect to get it since they have a game today. My biggest surprise was the apple fritter. Generally not a fan because of the texture of cooked apples and cinnamon taste, but this wasnt too sweet and had a good breakable but not crumbling texture. I ate 4 donuts in one sitting, so if this review does not make any sense, just know that im currently in a food coma.

Yelp
DELICIOUS donuts-- the most wonderfully unique flavors! I live on the East Coast and while a variety of flavors are featured, none are similar to those I spotted in Twisted. Passion fruit, guava, Ube, Mochi - I love it! I ordered a passion fruit mochi donut, a coconut guava donut and a buttermilk blueberry donut. All three were absolutely fantastic. Fresh and flavorful-- clearly made that morning. The buttermilk donut was nicely dense and cakey, dotted with blueberries and perfectly glazed. The guava and coconut donut had a fabulous frosting that had a wonderfully tart guava flavor and a dusting of coconut flakes. YUM. The cafe was clean and smelled of freshly made donuts, HEAVEN!
google avatar

Cheri L.

Yelp
If you want unique donuts in the Sunset area, be sure to check out Twisted! They have OG flavors as well but I like that they add in different varieties you don't normally find in the area such as jalapeño bacon or coconut guava. I appreciate that they also provide vegan options as well. Their donuts are a little ok the cakier side if you prefer that but still tasty. Lately I had been wanting to try out their mochi donuts and was finally able to on the perfectly timed National Donut day. Their mochi donuts are about $3 each; they are a bit smaller than some places like Mochill but are still yummy! I would say they are a little more on the denser side but I think it helps with their chewy texture. The flavors they had were also very good, my favorite surprisingly being the guava- it was just a different flavor experience I did not expect. If you plant to get mochi variety, they only sell them on Fridays-Sundays. Service is quick and friendly and very COVID safe. You are greeted at a table near the front entrance with the menu options laid out on the table and the donut display in view. After you order they will charge you from across the room and then bring you your order. Only one party is allowed in at a time. Sometimes they do sell out in a day so go as early as you can. Def check out Twisted if you're on the hunt for a new donut spot to try!

Yelp
I'm glad Twisted Coffee and Donuts is not near my . Otherwise, it would be hard for me from going several times a week! I ordered a few donut and a cream puff. The cream puff w/ Bavarian cream was very delicious! The coconut raised Guava was my favorite and is offered only on the weekends.

Yelp
Local donut shop with some specialty donuts along with the usual donuts you expect to find. I normally don't eat much fried foods and that includes donuts. I'd just rather save my calories for something else, possibly a little healthier. Anyway, my 4 year old had earned a reward and asked for it to be a chocolate donut, so there we were for the first time at Twisted Donuts. There were slim pickings by 9:30am on a weekday. No chocolate donuts available, leaving my son a bit disappointed. He did settle for a mochi chocolate donut though. Feeling bad about only purchasing a single donut, I opted for an apple fritter. We got home and my son devoured his donut. I tried the apple fritter and instantly regretted my purchase. It was just too sweet. There was barely any apples in it and was covered in too much sugar glaze. The whole thing was just a fat and sugar bomb. I only ate half and had to stop myself. I'm happy to support local shops. The guy behind the counter was nice. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the apple fritter though.

Yelp
Came in about 15 minutes before closing. There was a limited selection left. I picked a glazed raised donut. My bf choose an old fashioned maple donut and apple fritter. The cashier was nice and included an extra old fashioned donut in our purchase. I thought the glazed raised donut was okay. It was fluffy. But it wasn't sweet enough for me? Shocking, isn't it? I think there wasn't enough sweetness to balance the amount of dough of the doughnut. I tried a bite of the old fashioned maple donut. It was denser and tasted of nutmeg/fall season spices.

Yelp
Donuts: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: A good option for some more unique flavors. Yummy! The extended review... Donuts: Churro De Leche - 4/5 - This was a very interesting selection. A donut with cinnamon sugar and sliced in half with some dolce spread in between the two halves. A nice rendition of a churro for sure. Lemon Blueberry Buttermilk - 4/5 - Can't go wrong with a nice buttermilk. It had a nice crispy exterior and soft interior. Quite a nice compliment of flavors as well. Black Sesame Mochi - 4/5 - A good chewy donut with good flavor on the black sesame glaze. Service: 4/5 - Super friendly and patient staff that explained the donut flavors which I'm sure can be annoying when repeating oneself. Ambiance: 3/5 - Not sure if they have seating in non covid times but it's a normal donut shop.

Yelp
One word--AMAZING! Their donuts are so good I had to go back a second day in a row! Show your love and support this local business! Posted at the doorway, a sign limits customers to 2 inside at once. They observe COVID protocols and must wear a mask at entry. Everyone behind the counter is masked an gloved, there is hand sanitizer available at the front table. You can't walk up to the counter, they have blocked access as a safety precaution, so you need to tell them your order and they bring it to you. It's hard to see what they have innthe display case or to see the menu, so you just have to ask. When you're ready to pay place your cash in the plastic bin or you can swipe your card on the card reader. They have regular items, a variety of raised and cake donuts, twists, jelly-filled, old fashion, apple fritters and cinnamon rolls. They offer specialty flavors (ube, guava), which changes daily and mochi donuts. They also offer vegan donuts. I got the double dipped chocolate raised, cereal topped, cronut, coconut guava in addition to the glazed, chocolate, sugar donuts. Every donut I got was super delicious. It doesn't matter what you order, all of their donuts taste so good! This is the place to go to satisfy your donut craving!!

Yelp
Maple Bacon Bacon.... PERIOD No need to say more. Perfect balance of sweet and savory on top of deep fried dough. Apple Fritters are not overly sweet, but I would love to have it again...with some coffee of course. Get there early for the mochi doughnuts... they were out when we got there after 12.

Yelp
Specialty donuts with gourmet toppings in the San Francisco Outer Sunset District Hubby told me that this donut shop is very popular. He was right, when we arrived at 11:00a the selection was slim pickings. Neither of the donuts and pastries I wanted were available: raised glazed and chocolate croissants. I wasn't sure if they were making more batches in the back or this was it until they closed at 2:00p. An employee said that they still have twist donuts. Same taste, it was just twisted, so okay. It was good but it must've been sitting out for a few hours... I like them piping hot with the glaze super soft. I also purchased a couple of pastries that are $3.00/ea... one red bean and the other taro. I haven't sunk my teeth into them so I can't comment just yet. I brought them home to give the taro pastry to my teen but I couldn't tell which one is which. Wish they were labeled since they both look similar. The interior was modified for customers. They blocked off maybe 3/4 of the shop leaving a small space for patrons, therefore, only 2 people can be inside at any given time. The staff, all young men that I saw, were all wearing masks, friendly and helpful. Hope to get there earlier next time to catch some of my favorite donuts and pastries because "the early bird gets the worm." Nutty Monkey, Berry Crunchy, Baconpeno, S'Mores Galore, PB & J, Lemon Berry, Fruirrito, Pumpkin Fritters, Milky Way Under A-Salt were some of the specialty donuts I saw on their menu board. Twisted Donuts & Coffee opened in 2014. Look for the purple building. Review #1984

Yelp
What a super yummy donut place! If you never try Mochi donuts yet. This is the place to try them out. I love their ube Mochi donuts, they are so light but at the same time so flavorful. They are also not too sweet. By the way, their cream puffs are super super delicious as well. You have to check out this donut spot!

Yelp
This review is for the Too Good to Go box. The donuts are fresh and includes a variety of flavors that satisfied our family and friends too. The box is a great value. Staff is friendly and efficient. Thanks Twisted team! They also offer vegan donuts which I'm sure are good too. I'll definitely return to Twisted when I am looking for sweets for my vegan friends.
