Deli / Italian specialties.
I have to admit, the guys that were working there were not exactly fat and well, I subscribe to the old saying "never trust a skinny chef".... but nevertheless, the guys working here turn out very good sandwiches and other delights.
Essentially a deli, TFG has a large board with a bunch of named sandwiches (or sangwiches depending on what part of NYC you might hail from) and they all have NY names: Coney Island, Levittown, the Babylon etc... definitely a NYC / Long Island bent on the names.
If you do not like that selection of sandwiches, they will also just make you whatever you want.
The bread is good- and that is the whole heart of the sandwich: bad bread = bad sandwich. Getting good bread outside of NY is a crap shoot but these guys get some good stuff. I usually buy some extra bread when there.
The sandwiches are good sized and can be messy to eat but they will fill you up. Beyond that, there are deli cases with Italian specialties: stuffed olives, marinated mushrooms, mozzarella / tomatoes etc.
There are Italian meats: Soppressata and sausages; because nothing says I love you like fatty, salty meats!
There are also some heat & eat meals available in case you are too tired or lazy to cook.
Outside of the deli cases they have a cross section of dry goods: Pastas, sauces and cookies.
Phew- if you are like me, when they are done ringing you up, there is smoke coming off the register... but it is all worth it and I recommend this place at least once a week to someone.
