A vibrant spot in Inglewood, this trendy eatery dazzles with its Afro-centric dishes like jollof and garlic noodles, all served in a welcoming vibe.
"Chefs Marcus Yaw and Abdoulaye Balde moved into the former Comfort L.A. space and opened Two Hommés blocks away from SoFi Stadium in 2021. The restaurant completed a stunning 2024 interior revamp and added some new offerings that always incorporate their signature Los Angeles meets West African flavors. Dishes include jollof rice, garlic noodles, passion fruit shrimp ceviche, honey Berbere chicken bites, and Senegalese smoked lamb shoulder egg rolls with caramelized plantains and cabbage." - Mona Holmes
"Before sitting at Inglewood’s Two Hommés, take a moment to enjoy the neighborhood. The area surrounding Centinela and North La Brea Avenue brims with compelling restaurants and cafes, from Sunday Gravy and Kuku Cafe to Buna Coffee and 1010 Wines. Many Angelenos have lived here for generations, contributing to a close-knit community that is eager to support restaurants in the neighborhood. Two Hommés owners and chefs Abdoulaye Balde and Yaw Marcus Johnson built their following brick by brick, first as a pandemic pop-up that added a California lens to West African food before opening a permanent restaurant in 2023. The chefs took things slow, perfecting their sticky and vibrantly spiced honey chicken berbere bites; root beer-braised short ribs with whipped yams; and jollof rice, which can be topped with herby lamb chops, branzino, or barbecue jerk cauliflower. (The latter is deeply soulful and packs a slight heat.) As a bonus, the dining room got a modern refresh during the fall, making it an ideal place to order Two Hommés’ innovative dishes and the cooling Mezcalifornia cocktail made with Espadin mezcal, cucumber juice, and grapefruit syrup. "Though already a fan of Two Hommés, the standom officially kicked up a notch when the Inglewood restaurant received a fall makeover. Chefs Abdoulaye Balde and Yaw Marcus Johnson approached local designer and AfriCali cookbook author Kiano Moju to accomplish the task, turning the casual dining room into a relaxed, gorgeous space to consume the unique LA-West African menu. Though the deep-fried honey berbere chicken bites and root beer braised shortribs over whipped yams are absolutely stellar, the jollof rice is something to behold. LA’s Nigerian options are a bit limited, so finding jollof feels akin to finding the holy grail. The flavors are bold, the toppings vary from shrimp to lamb, and it is such a labor-intensive dish that I appreciated every bite while downing one of the restaurant’s margaritas. And you can enjoy it all in a bright, festive room that is in one of the most compelling corridors in LA. — Mona Holmes, editor" - Eater Staff
